I think this is a big reason why I don’t crochet more. I like to just go at it and not have to stop to figure out what I need to do next. This was encouraging. Thanks
I'm so glad! A mindless crochet project is just what you need sometimes! 🧶🧶🧶
YES, get back to crocheting. It's the best way to relax!!!
That is well said.
Please keep crocheting.
Keep crocheting. Its relaxing. I love to crochet everyday.
I find it ironic that I found this video today, it was confirmation for my last project. I just finished an afghan (my design) done in double crochet and single crochet. It was done in a rush for a friend who had to have emergency surgery to have her foot removed. I wanted to have a blanket for her, to comfort her in her recovery. It turned into a prayer blanket with me praying over every stitch and it needed to be "mindless" because my mind was elsewhere. I loved that I had a gift to share and it meant so much to her. Mindless is good when life is overwhelming💕
That’s so awesome!
the way i teared up when it became a prayer blanket! so beautiful!!!
That’s so wonderful ❤
Aww that was so sweet and inspirational.
I am finishing up a prayer shawl for my bff
I make single coloured granny squares for this reason. They will eventually be turned into a blanket. Another advantage is that they are portable.
That is a great project! 🧶🧶🧶
I make single color granny squares when I'm flying. They are small and can easily be handled when in a small place like an airplane seat and don't take up a lot of room in a carry-on bag.
I find your cat situation very relatable. My cats are always running around when I'm making educational videos for my students. My students tell me they've seen my "crazy cats". Last year, my students gave me a box of cat treats as a goodbye present.
Awww! How sweet!! I love that!!! 🐾🐾🐾
Sitting on the couch surrounded by the fam, a cup of coffee and a mindless project...HEAVEN. Thanks so much for these fantastic ideas! 🙌
This is exactly what I needed to watch today. I have been mindlessly looking at my yarn stash and patterns, my fingers itching to crochet but my head not into any of the patterns I have looked at. Not sure why I didn't think of this before...I guess I needed someone else to give me a little push to get me out of my head. I love your channel and find you very interesting and inspirational, no matter what project you are working on/suggest. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I think a lot of us are craving easy right now! 🧶🧶🧶
Crochet Crowd's never-ending granny square is always my go to when i need a break. And the cool thing is the pattern lets you do one, three, five, and seven strand projects. Its absolutely beautiful and fun.
I'm using Toni's ripple afghan pattern to use up a bunch of color changing yarn and it's *gorgeous*. It's not 100 percent mindless - you do have to remember the stitch pattern and make sure you're following it, but the stitch pattern was very easy to memorize even when I was a total beginner!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Have you ever used the stripe randomizer online? You just enter numbers of colors (I used skein counts) and it gives you a random arrangement of the stripes, and if you don’t like one you just click for another! Made one of my fave blankets using it.
Not heard of this! Thank you im going to try it ❤
I love using a randomizer! I am making a random c2c.....small squares that are 6 x 6......random color placement. Looks great!
Thank you for this suggestion!
Where would I find a stripe randomizer?
@@lorrainekrahn4498 It used to be one a site called biscuitsandjam but that whole domain seems gone now! Still looking for one that is weighted…
i'm a life-long knitter and never fully caught on to crochet but i picked it up last year and felt like i was struggling so much! i was just using some cheap hooks from amazon that kept snagging and i couldnt keep tension but thanks to your vids i invested in a clover set and wow theyve made the difference! now i'm gunna work some of these easy /mindless projects so i can work some of my yarn stash and practice before i start making gifts for my friends and family. thank you so much for your honesty and informative videos!
Wonderful!! The right crochet hooks make all the difference!! 🧶🧶🧶
WOW! What an inspiring video!!! These mindless projects remind me of a concept in my head ~ "Crochet Meditation"!!! Love when we can knit or crochet just to relax our mind and body! Thank you for sharing this amazing projects!!!! Well Done!!!
Yes!!! Totally agree!!! Crochet and knitting can be incredibly meditative! 🧶🧶🧶
Ok, not only the projects themselves, but the art you used of beautiful people knitting and crocheting in lovely, cozy spaces was so inspiring! I love crocheting on my couch on my days off with my husband, daughter, and cat all around me also doing their own thing. My husband is usually reading, my daughter is either also crocheting or on her phone, and my cat is purring on someone’s lap. We don’t even have to talk to each other (though we often do) but that homey feeling I get is something I will always treasure.
I've been doing a baby blanket while distracting myself from the last stage of pregnancy. Definitely a great way to rest the brain and set my mind up for meeting the new baby! Doing a simple striped blanket.
Like others have said, I needed this today! I just love the pictures of the cottages with the yarn and the beautiful projects. That’s what my dream cottage would look like if I lived alone. Thanks, Elise!
Thank you!! Me too!!! I want to live in them! 🧶🧶🧶
They seem AI generated
I am here to confess that I have been watching your fabulous videos as I complete a sewing project for my church. The sewing is repetitive and somewhat mindless. Listening to your videos has been keeping my mind alert. Although I do not knot or crochet, I do have a passion for bead-weaving and fused glass. Many if your ideas and suggestions are great for akmost any art form and I will be applying g them to mine! I downloaded two of your free tools, the project journal and how to use up scraps. In both my glass and beading I have small amounts of leftover beads and I am inspired. Thank you from a new subscriber!
In January, after all the pressure to finish the Xmas gifts, I decided to get up-to-date with baby blankets. I always have a few on hand when the good news happens. They're small, easy and cheery❤
That's a great idea! 🧶🧶🧶
I love the kitty coworkers! I swear they know when to be the most naughty!!!
I have been watching your videos since I met you a week ago, and one of the things I like the most is your voice, I can be crocheting and watching your videos at the same time, does not matter if you're creating something or trying new hooks or sharing patterns
I really love what you're doing please do not stop, your videos are my best companion when I crochet ❤❤ 🧶
My baby Winter will come over for cuddles periodically as if she thinks I need a break from crocheting lol. I love granny squares, and I have made so many blankets and 4 cardigans. Eventually, I'd like to branch out, but I love just being able to listen to a book and have a beautiful creation without thinking too hard about it. Thank you for some amazing ideas! ❤
It really is wonderful to work on a cozy, mindless project!! 🧶🧶🧶
I’ve been going through a tough mental time recently and crochet is always my comfort. I couldn’t figure out why I kept starting new projects and then abandoning them but I think this might be why! Too many of them are knitting which will never be the same as crochet for me and the crochet projects are just too complicated right now. Guess I have to start project a million and one 😂
I'm so sorry you're going through a rough time. I know so many who are struggling for one reason or another. I hope you find the perfect crochet project! ❤️
I love mindless crochets. A favorite of mine is a simple triangle cape for your shoulders. I do corner-to-corner using one skein of multicolored yarn. I keep them in my car and give them away to the shivering woman in the restaurant or theater or classroom or conference.
That's so wonderful! 🧶🧶🧶
Elise, your Pickles is like my Rocky! He wants to be ON ME whatever I am doing. Sweet Furbabies!
The best!! ❤️🐾🧶
I have 2 cats Mickey mouse and Minnie mouse. They love to walk all around my lap whenever I'm trying to knit or crochet. 😂 your fur baby is beautiful. I laughed when she knocked over your phone. Thank for the ideas. Kay
My cat liked to help when I was doing computer work, family history, his typing skills left a lot to be desired though, I didn’t test his skill with my yarns! He did like to curl up in the box I put next to the computer. 🐈
Lol...my Ghostly Trio ( Basmati, Little Taller and Piss'n'Vinegar) seem to love when I'm working dark yarns....they are all white...my tarbaby One Toke prefers to lie on the lighter colours! I'm doomed! 😂😂
I used to make “prayer shawls” or throws that my church gave to people. A great use for simple patterns.
Ok, but the cat interruptions were the CUTEST thing! ❤
This is why I make a temperature blanket every year. Something easy to go to when I need to wind down.
what a great video!! I also feel like I should be trying something new to challenge myself, but in reality I want the mindless ones... Thank you Elise for saying it out loud for me...this is exactly what I needed to hear and see, thanks to your video...I might have piles of crochet blankets..but they will all bring me joy and that is what we should be feeling is JOY when we crochet.
I always find something in your videos, something to make, someone to follow, someone smile about. ❤
You are so kind! ❤️
this is Pickles' channel now 😹😹😹😹
Lol!!!! He's the captain now!! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi Elise, loved the video today. We have so much in common. I too love having a simple project to work on from time to time. I am a firm believer that there can be much beauty in simplicity. Not every project has to be a mind blowing challenge to be a unique and artistic expression. I don't do well personally with too man WIP's so what I usually do is have one challenging project going and one simple free flowing one in my basket. That way I can pick up whatever one suits my mood or pain level. I have a three easy afghan patterns that I have made many times over the years one is made in panels and then stitched together. The other is a hexagon granny square. The third is a unique ripple afghan that I once saw on tv made by an Amish lady. It has a slightly different pattern than most ripples and I have made several as gifts over the years. I just finished my ballerina teddy bear and am getting ready to sew the head onto another doll. Ever since I found your channel I can't stop making amigurumi! I no sooner get one done than I am beginning another. You have opened up the whimsical side of my imagination. I am having a blast. It is really also nice to have the opportunity to use up some of the little bits and bobs in my stash. I hope you have a lovely day ahead!
That's so wonderful!!! I understand the amigurumi obsession!! I'm getting ready to start a new one myself! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for this video, I love crochet and am getting back into it after a bit of a hiatus, but after a busy day and wrangling two small kiddos, there’s nothing better than a mindless project. Your channel has been a huge motivator for me to keep on crocheting and learn new things. 😊
You definitely need a nice, relaxing mindless crochet project! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you to you and Pickle . . . I really really really needed that laugh.
Crocheting with Pickles.. 😂 I love cats and have 2 of my own. Great ideas coming out of your yarn studio. I wished you lived closer and we could crochet for an hour together.. I can't wait to see inspiration for February
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm trying to teach myself crochet (can't get beyond a chain foundation) and so happy to have found your channel! You inspire me!
We were all beginners at one point!! Congratulations!! 👏👏👏
the chain is the worst. I would ask an experienced person to chain and do the first row for you. Then you could have all the fun without the frustration. I make yoga blankets and I swear it takes me hours to get it started before I finally stop ripping it out and settle into a groove. Keep trying!
When you mentioned always needing to challenge yourself…girl, SAME. 🤦🏿♀️ My current portable project is a pair of socks…knitted two at a time on magic loop (which I’ve done before; no second sock syndrome for me!) but toe-up (which I’ve never done before). God forbid I actually do something simple like a dishtowel or something. 😂 Thanks for these great ideas! Also, I am absolutely LOVING the artwork backgrounds! 😍
Haha!!! I want to try knitting two socks at a time! Good luck!!! 🧦🧦
I'm currently working on a blanket (my first!) and it's pretty mindless. So long as I don't miss a stitch I don't have to count, but... I still do, just to be safe 😂 But it's simple enough that I'm able to read a book while keeping a count going in my head. It might be a while before I start my next blanket, as this one is 70"x84", but I think I'll be coming back to this video to pick one!
Awesome!! ❤️
This is what I'm doing right now-basic, all dc, 4 colors. The plan is darkest to lightest, then top work in 5th color to represent ocean waves. That's the only part that will require any thought, and that will be minimal. Coffee, quietness, crochet. Bliss
Absolutely love everything! My grandma taught me to crochet(knit a little) when I was around 9 years old, the granny rectangle was the first pattern she showed me. That lady could look at her toaster, blender, or whatever and whip up a cover complete with flowers embroidered on the outside. She also came up with a scrap yarn blanket that was awesome, using alternating dc and single crochet rows. Also, she would pre-roll the various scrap yarn balls into two sizes, one that equaled a sc row, and one that equaled a dc row.
Wow!!! Love that!! Thank you for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Do you have ideas for easy take alongs? Lots of doctor appointments to wait through! I really like this video. The rhythm of crochet is so soothing but to have to stop to think breaks that peaceful feeling and pace! Thank you!
I do dish clothes and granny squares
I love kitty's antics.
Haha!! He's such a funny boy! 🐱🤣❤️🧶
I love that you left the cat outtakes in 💜
I'm so glad!!! He loves to be the star! 🤣
Thanks for your video. 😊Love the kitty interrptions....With me, it's my dog 😅 Currently busy with a mindless project. Had 2 skeins of merino wool & am making a v-stitch cowl as our autumn is approaching. Enjoying not to have to concentrate. Keep the videos coming!
Love that!! And tell your dog hello from Miss Olive and Mr. Pickle here in North Carolina! 🐾🐾🐾
i love that you are being photo bombed by your own pet cats. Thanks for this excellent and inspiring video
Haha!! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🐱❤️🧶
As someone who crochet in class to stay focused, this is exactly what I need :) thanks ❤
I agree I also love the granny rectangle. The ripple stitch is definitely a good scrap buster for sure
I'm obsessed! I want to make another one! 🧶🧶
Thanks for this video. I like to have "mindless" side projects. I just finished a simple (but colorful thx to Alize Bella Batik) shawl so ideas for a new one are very welcome right now. As much as I like to make amigurumi patterns, it's nice not having to count in-/decreases from time to time.
Exactly!!! I'm just so sad that he already finished my rectangle granny square project!! 😢 So I'm going to start another one! 🤣
Great ideas! Thank you ❣️🧶where can I find the lovely images of cozy rooms with crochet projects? So pretty !
Thank you! I created them in Canva with some AI help! ❤️
Congratulations on finishing your beautiful knit sweater!
I actually just finished a HUGE mindless crochet afghan for a future grand niece/nephew not to be born until October. I thought for sure it would have taken me MONTHS to complete it. All I know is I watched 15 movies, so let's say less than 45 hours from start, frogging that all out, restart, to end grand total time. It's the German Shells meets Granny Square. It's 72" in a square, so baby will have their own forever afghan 🥰
My toss-aside is going to be a movie snake. You may have heard how people are doing book genre snakes? I'm doing one with the movies I "watch" (let's face it, we don't really watch anything while crocheting 😂) and go from there. I'm 15 rows of black for my favorite 1970s - 90s horror classics (Child's Play and Nightmare on Elm Street & some Stephen King as well). I ADORE mindless crochet patterns!!!!!
How fun!!! Thank you for sharing!! 🍿🎬📺
What a great video, thank you so very much!! LOVE pickles in your lap, that was precious!!! sending you love, hugs, prayers.
He loves to get all the attention and snuggles!!! And I'm happy to give it to him!🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for this! I find myself needing the mindless projects during the week when I get off my shift (I'm a nurse and work 1st shift) and then typically on the weekends is when I can put in some brain power... I'm definitely going to bookmark all the projects you proposed as they ALLLL look great! THANKS AGAIN LOVE! 🥰😘🥰
I'm so glad you enjoyed them!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you very much, Elise. I am crocheting the Attic 24 Sungold blanket at the moment and it is completely mindless. I love the cosy scenes in your video of homes with crocheted items, lots of books and warm fires. Really enjoyable to watch. Happy crocheting. x
Luv all the blankets but the harmony is beautiful ❤
That is one of my favorites! 🧶🧶🧶
I stopped buying new yarn until I finished what I already had. I just do it as a hobby and gift for loved ones
You have much better impulse control than I do! 🤣🤣🤣
Certainly I just started learning and I'm much more excited about amigurumi but I usually find myself gravitating towards the TLC blanket by All In A Nutshell that I'm working on because I don't have to think. It's designed to teach you crochet so it starts with a row of sc, then a row of hdc, and gets more complex (right now im making granny squares to add to the blanket). It is great to not have to count stitches because you're just going to the end of the row, and you can get into such a flow.
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing the pattern! 🧶🧶🧶
I'm having trouble focusing and being productive during my first pregnancy so this is just the video I needed. Thanks as always Elise ❤
I really like lots of these projects. I’m relearning how to crochet in my later years. So fun. Thanks.
Wonderful! 🩷
My favorite crochet projects is when my mind is relaxed is my butterfly mosaic blanket and my somebunny and a granny square blanket and I love your channel and your videos and if you keep making videos I will keep watching them and what is your favorite crochet project to work on right now and favorite types of yarn to used when crocheting and keep up the great work on your TH-cam channel and keep up the great work on your crochet projects
Thank you so much! I am really enjoying the rectangle granny blanket!!! It's so nice to work on! 🧶🧶🧶
I love this! I've been looking for a mindless project lately. The TL Yarncraft ripple blanket is calling my name!
It is for me too!! ❤️❤️❤️
Mindless crochet is exactly what I needed recently, I searched for single row and 2 row repeating patterns and made a shawl with a multicolor cake yarn. minimal thinking and chance of making mistakes! Absolutely wonderful! A big thank you to you and other TH-camrs for inspiration and encouragement!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Dear Elise Rose, you are so adorable. I love your videos, they‘re very inspiring. Thank you so much!
Yes, I have one of those projects. It is a blanket, I foget the pattern's name, using varigated Red Heart yarn. Believe it or not, my mindless crochet must change stitches or I get too bored and won't work on it. This one is simple changes of double, triple (going into the row below), double, and chain one. Ending a row is a little different with 2 doubles. It's fun and easy.
That's great!! Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks Elise, you hit the spot! Mindless, peaceful crochet. All about being kind to yourself.
Purrfect Pickle made me laugh x
He is such a funny boy! 🐱❤️🧶🐾
Your videos are so comforting and fun to watch!
Thank you for putting this video out! This is the inspiration ive been needing❤
I'm so glad! 😊😊😊
This one is 100% the video I needed today. I’ve been market prepping like crazy and feel like I’m approaching burn out. It’s time to take a break and do something mindless while I watch my little boys play. Thank you so much for the encouragement and inspiration.
-Snugglebug Crochet
Awww! That's wonderful!! Good luck on your market!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you so much!! 💜
I love patterns that I don't have to think about too much! (And your sweet cat)
Thank you! ❤️
Love the vid Elise!❤❤❤
Thank you! ❤️
Cats being chaos during filming is very relatable. Thanks for this list! I definitely need something after the nightmare that was my one and only afghan over the last 12 months.
Inspiring video! Thanks…
And Pickles is the cutest! 😻
He loves to be the center of attention!! 🤣🤣🤣
I needed one of these ❤... Thank you 😊!
You’re so welcome 😊
Hey Elise! The blanket on the bottom right of this video in your armoire, I LOVE IT!!! The colors of the white, yellow, turquoise and pink are beautiful!!! ❤️
Crocheting helped me to quit chewing my fingernails at age 8. Then at age 50 crocheting helped me to lose 100 pounds. Keeping my hands busy was the secret to each success. Also, it definitely helps when you have stress in your life, as well.
That is incredible! Congratulations!! 👏👏👏
They are all beautiful, Elise! I might try my hand at one. But I love your Norwegian sweater!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
Great video! By the way, I ADORE your blouse. Gingham really suits you!! :)
Oh thank you! 🩷🩷🩷
Hi Elise, your cat is so adorable! The blankets you shared are so pretty Thank you for sharing 😊
Crafting has been my relaxation for years, and mindless projects are what I like to do. I prefer shawls over sweaters, washcloths over socks, and simple blankets over “heirloom” projects.
Thanks for sharing!! ❤️❤️❤️
I was literally thinking about this yesterday. I was able to figure out I could do any granny stitch mindlessly as well as work on my griddle stitch gingham blanket while watching Netflix
That's wonderful!! 🧶🐑❤️
Cats and crochet 🥰 More Pickles please! (My cat Pussums insists I throw her toy for her to play fetch with. We've agreed on 7 throws and then I get back to work).
Haha!! So cute! Pickle makes his presence known! 🤣🤣🤣
I started a granny shawl, I've never done a large granny project and I'm loving it!
Its just a giant granny triangle!
I loved this guide to mindless projects!! You featured many of my favorite designers also!!! Thank you-and I love Pickles! My little toy poodle, George, is always in my lap when I knit or crochet…or do ANYTHING 🙃💗
And I am knitting a scarf so I can do it mindlessly. It has 2 colors in Maroon and a golden stripe on each end.
Oh wow! Sounds gorgeous!!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet yep. Making one for my sister in law in the simple garter stitch. Harry Potter inspired.
Thank you for these beautifu ideas....PS I want to live in the house featured in the background pictures. So pretty!
Me too!! 🧶🧶🧶
Hello again Amazing Elise! ❤️ I wanted to ask you if you would think about doing a video on different fibers (cotton, wool, acrylic, etc.) and the pros & cons of each as well as what you would recommend making with the fibers.
I have been crocheting for about 3 yrs and only ever used acrylic. I bought some Premier Just Cotton and wanted to make some socks or a headband with it but noticed that its has almost no give or stretch.
I cannot express how quickly you became my "go to" in most all things crochet! 🧶. You are so positive and upbeat it makes me happy 😁. Thank you so much and sending you and your family love & hugs! 🥰❤️
Adorable kitty. Cats have a mind of their own,
I started a scrappy, chevron granny blanket when I need mindless work. But the stipulation is the color needs to be a whole row, because my “JOCD”cannot stand abrupt color changes in the middle. Lol 🤪
I totally get it!!! 🧶🧶🧶
Great video, Elyse! I’m looking for a mindless project myself right now. I think the granny rectangle is exactly what I need! Thanks!
I found several ideas to pursue! Thank you for once again being the idea person I needed!
You are so welcome! ❤️
I call these brain candy😂
Yes!!! 🧠🍬
I love these suggestions! I just finished my first granny square blanket and I was JUST thinking " I wish i had a 'cool down' project". That shawl might be calling my name.
That one is gorgeous! 🧶🧶🧶
So glad I found this video. Thank you! All I do with crochet is the mindless projects. (Haven’t been able to figure out how to read patterns on my own.😵💫)
Anyone thanks! And I love how happy and positive you are! ❤
I love all of your videos and think you’re the absolute cutest ever. I loved your kitty in the background haha
I am a mom of 2 kids under 5 and crocheting is something I have found to unwind and relax. It is so soothing after a hectic day with my girls. I’ve recently have been working on 2 projects at once. An amigurumi cow and a blanket. I’ve found when I need to relax I reach for the blanket. When I have the mind power I reach for the cow. You said it perfectly how sometimes we just need a mindless project! Thanks for sharing more ideas.
You definitely need a mindless crochet project!! Having small kids was the best and hardest thing I've ever done!! 🧶🧶🧶
the Ai art makes me sad :(
Or annoyed in my case! 😒
Oh my goodness! Such an inspirational video! Those crochet pictures make me want to decorate my house like that. Baskets brimming with yarn. So cozy!
Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
I've just completed a granny rectangle baby blanket using the block stitch for this very reason. It's brilliantly easy!
Great video! Thank you for your great suggestions!
One thing that really got me out of my crochet burn out was making a bunch of little mushrooms. I didn’t read a pattern I didn’t count the stitches, i didn’t even use a stitch marker. I just made the stumps and caps and then tied them together. they are so fun look at, they are all different sizes, shapes, and colors! You just can’t go wrong with mushrooms 🍄
Oh my goodness!!! That's the kind of project I would love to make! 🍄🍄🍄
@@EliseRoseCrochet yes!! I totally recommend trying it they are so fun to make and a nice change of pace, 😄 love the video and happy crocheting ❤️
Your videos are such a pleasure to watch! 😊
Love mindless crochet!
Luv this Elise! 😍 Thank You🌷🌷🌷
