Sabian owned 2019. Released the AAX during tax season and HHX before holidays with enough time to build hype. Brilliant. This company doesnt follow trends, it sets them. Nice demo guys, also cant wait to see all those Cymbal Vault selects you picked up XD
When I got the notification for this video and saw what you were reviewing, I literally heard myself make an "mmmm..." noise, like someone had just showed me the world's most delicious piece of cake.
I can honestly say there wasn’t one cymbal you hit in this demo that I didn’t like. Not one overly dry trash can lid in this lot. Me likey likey. I would definitely go for a set of the Complex.
Joe Rico I have the 14” Complex Hi Hats and that new horrible logo IS on the bottom of the bottom hi hat cymbal. Ugg. I hate it beyond hate. What the mess were they thinking?
@Joseph Dixon Even Zildjian doesn't put logos on the bottom of their Hihats cymbals and they're more notorious for having larger logos than Sabian. It seems either someone at Sabian knew the logo would be polarizing or early feedback forced their hand at placing it at the bottom. I know the comments were overwhelmingly negative in response to the first NAMM 2019 footage. It would be nice if Sabian reassessed changing the logo. The idea to streamline their catalog, however IS smart.
@Pizza Taco They do have to put the logo somewhere for trademarks purposes. Watch the newer Zildjian factory videos and you'll hear Paul Francis say that it isn't a Zildjian cymbal until the trademarked logo is applied.
Yesterday i tried 20-30 hats without watching any brand/ finish/ style size or price. The only hat that blew my mind right away was rhe 15“ hhx complex. Mission accomplished
The hhx complex series is hands down my favorite cymbal series ever! The 22 inch crash being my favorite cymbal of all time!Seriously I like them that much. Just my opinion though. Thanks so much Sabian!!
I bought a complete kit of Complex cymbals with 15" HH 17 18 19 20 crashes and a 22 med ride in my hometown of Montreal. I play pretty solid rock and it was love at first hit! Thank you for this great video guys and all the other ones. 🇨🇦and DCP ROCK!
I like them all. Wow! I have a HHX evolution pack with 14"hats. 16" crash 20" Ride and a 18" ozone. Im going to be listening to alot of demos with these to see what I'm lacking in sound.
The complex is a great line - I played the 18 last week at a local shop and the 'Artisan line' like qualities were right there with a touch more brightness when compared to the natural finishes. I was eager to try the 20 complex crash but it wasn't in stock - I think my 20 HH Vanguard crash would pair well with it. All around they sound great in this video! For anyone looking to get into the the Artisan line or pair with their existing these would be great as well. The first set had that high ear piercing trill where the complex had a smooth roll-off when hit with great velocity.
I’ve owned the vanguard for a few weeks already - tried a couple out and the one I have has a bit more bite then what I’ve heard elsewhere. It fits perfectly with the 22 legacy heavy ride - I will check out the xtreme as well!
Eric Williams Legacy is a great cymbal. I just found the Vanguard in person to sound different than recordings. Kinda like the Fierce crash. They sound so much better when recorded. Which is my main focus when looking at cymbals.
@@FanaticDrummer Absolutely and I'm of the same approach, it fits well in the mix for me - I was in Nashville when I bought it so I had to go with my best judgement. I'll check those two out as well! Thanks!
COMPLEX! The Pearl set was nice too. Not a fan of big hats or rides though. I currently use two 13 hats. Lighter cymbals open up quickly so you don't have to beat the crap out of them. One flick of the stick and it's maximum crash.
The HHX Complex line is the TRUTH. I've integrated a few cymbals from this line into my setup in the last few months, The 22" Thin Crash, the 22" Thin Ride, and the 23" Medium Ride; and they're quite possibly the best drumming purchases I've ever made. The 22" Thin Crash is a beast, and an absolute must-own. Far, and away the best crash I've ever played. Whether you're doing light taps, swells, builds, big hits, or even full-on washes, this cymbal will shine for you in just about any situation. The 22" Thin Ride, while I can't exactly speak on how it functions as a ride cymbal, I can tell you it makes for a good crash. While a little less responsive than the 22" Thin Crash, it has a slightly warmer, and more consistent tone, allowing it to sit well in a mix while washing, which I like to do, a lot.. The 23" Medium is a little more lightweight than I would like, and doesn't have the most playable bell, as the hammer marks make it a little more difficult to make good contact, especially if your sticks are a little chewed up, but has pretty good stick definition on the bow, and is capable of being washed on. Though, I'm not sure I love the sound it makes. Overall, still a really good ride, and at the very least worth checking out.
When the reviewer doesn’t want to talk, and just wants to play, you can tell they’re feeling a product. I had a chance to hit some of these at my LDS yesterday and I think I spent 5 minutes tapping and crashing 4 or 5 of these and just wow. These cymbals will sell because wow the sound was so nice. Great demo once again Shane.
Drum Center of Portsmouth videography lighting playing and choice of cymbals are very nice. Hopefully watching and subbing helps you because im in germany near Thomann the european big player so ordering from you is unfortunately not a choice 🥺
I'm a Paiste guy, but if I were to choose any of these cymbals, it would be the complex cymbals. That 16" sounds larger than its sound entails, probably due to its thinness and dark tones.
That 12" tom sounds almost perfect. Is that an Emperor you've got on it there? I notice the 16" tom still has the factory Chinese-made Pinstripe, I bet it'd sound even better with an Emperor or Ambassador on it that would open it up more. Impressive body out of the snare for a 14"x5.5".
@Jeremy Sims Eyyyyy I talked Sabian with you on OfferUp once! Almost got your 20” Evolution but I ended up getting it elsewhere and got a 22” for Christmas too lol
One of the best all around setups I’ve heard from your videos. Those cymbals sound great, I’m definitely in on the thin . For me I don’t like a gong sounding cymbal 👊
I really like zildjian, like I’m a zildjian guy especially when it comes to vintage zildjians. But the Hhx complex are incredible and might be my favorite line of cymbals even above the k sweet series or the k dark thins.
the complex cymbals sound killer and the demonstration of all them sounded even better!! i would so buy a pack of the complex cymbals if you made one :D
They sound amazing and I'm a Zildjian and Paiste guy. Those hats and the rides sound perfect. They could blend into any rock or jazz situation well. But I'm losing my mind over those hi hats.
The ride sounded good. Didn't completely fall in love with any of the crashes. Though the HHX line probably has the best sound in their lineup. With the price of top of the line cymbals being what they are you better LOVE what they sound like. Paiste signature series for me all day. Best $2500 you can spend on cymbals if you ask me.
I play all zildjian A customs, but 14 in HHX evolution hats. Bottom hi hat on top though. Not as buttery that way I know, but the bottom hat cuts through more.
These are decent indeed, except medium crash, it makes it clear why I never have really been liking sabians. But these knew models do not sound typically "sabian", you know. They really sound alright.
So the Extremes go away from the HHX line? Makes sense with the release of the Complex which is nice, but not quite as "trashy" as the Extreme. I'm liking their "trimmed down" line-ups!
Really wish the bell on the 21 thin ride was more defined. Little too weak, been looking for a backup ride to my polyphonic ride and still haven’t found a 21 inch ride that has great crashability, washy but good stick def, and a strong defined bell, very hard to find all 3 of those characteristics, the polyphonic is literally the best and my favorite ride cymbal for achieving all 3 of those aspects of all time. Bought the sweet ride but the bell isn’t as defined and doesn’t crash as well as the polyphonic.
big fan of the crsh on the left, however the medium crash sounds as if, since it is heavier, it opens up a bit later after hitting it. could be a phasing issue though. won't know till I actually play them
Hi i´m from Mexico i wonder if DCP makes shipments to my Country, cause i´m looking for the Sabian HHX Complex 14" hi hats and the 22" medium ride. Thank´s for the help.
The hhx complex sound exactly like the new Wuhan Koi series. Which is good. Just more great sounding cymbals out there. But it might hurt Sabian sales? Sorry for letting the word out!?
Enjoy this review - AD FREE - thanks to TH-cam's copyright algorithm falsely flagging our video!
Gotta love it when TH-cam smokes too much herb. Best of luck guys.
they are so corrupt i hear ya
Well...it IS porn! Of a sort...! Ha ha ha!
That 18” Brilliant/Thin crash is absolute gold. What a beautiful shimmer.

These are probably the best sounding Sabians I've heard in years!! Great job Shane!!
Totally! 100 %
When I got the notification for this video and saw what you were reviewing, I literally heard myself make an "mmmm..." noise, like someone had just showed me the world's most delicious piece of cake.

The hhx complex series is hands down my favorite cymbal series ever! The 22 inch crash being my favorite cymbal of all time!Seriously I like them that much. Just my opinion though. Thanks so much Sabian!!
I had all Paiste 2002s I have since sold them all and Now own all HHX Complex, They are the sweetest cymbals I have ever heard, Just Amazing
@@billynolanjr2266 and the artisan hi hats are my favorite hi hats. Sabian is really on point.
The 22in HHX thin or medium??
I am a Paiste guy, but these are unbelievable!!!!
I've had the Complex 20" and 22" Crashes for about 3 weeks and I am in love...
So glad I can finally match up a pair of 18" AAX and HHX thin crashes in either traditional or brilliant finishes.
Oh man that kit though...
Cymbals are gorgeous no question about it
Sabian got it right with the complex line,I hope they bring out a great sounding light China type cymbal as well.
I would also love a dark trashy china.
They sure did. I’m getting mine just as soon as I get my last payment made to American musical supply. I tend to keep in debt to them lol
That 21" Thin Ride! Me drool all over my cellphone! Me talk like Cookie Monster...gimme cymbal!
Glad it’s only drool
These complex cymbals are a winner. Can't wait to get a whole set. I think my 15" 2002 sound edge hi hats would sound amazing with these crashes.
Cymbals are amazing, but that bass drum sound! 😮
This is the closest thing to the ultimate and definitive cymbals sound. Amazing.
I like them all. Wow!
I have a HHX evolution pack with 14"hats. 16" crash 20" Ride and a 18" ozone. Im going to be listening to alot of demos with these to see what I'm lacking in sound.
Really like the sound of all these cymbals.
Be a while till i can afford a brand new set. . One day .
Thanks Shane 👍

Eric Williams I’d get a 20” Xtreme crash over the Vanguard. Vanguard is very dry.
I’ve owned the vanguard for a few weeks already - tried a couple out and the one I have has a bit more bite then what I’ve heard elsewhere. It fits perfectly with the 22 legacy heavy ride - I will check out the xtreme as well!

Right up there with the K sweet line.....which in my opinion is the best sounding cymbals on the market
Until the price tag of sabian cymbals is revealed. Almost as expensive as paiste 602. 560bux for a 22in ride is tooo much.
I really like that 16" thin. But the HHX click hats are the best!
That complex set up sound really good!
The 20in medium crash sounds really good

These thin cymbals are a Jazz/Big Band drummer's dream. Woooooow!
the pitch variation between those crashes is pretty much perfect
Btw your channel is by far the best Drum Channel on YT.

Still bummed they discontinued the AAX dark crash series. Favorite "16 and "18 crashes ever. However, would like to try the new ones.
Blake Curtis true I always wanted an Aax dark crash in brilliant finish I was always fond of the 19” though
@Jeremy Sims Eyyyyy I talked Sabian with you on OfferUp once! Almost got your 20” Evolution but I ended up getting it elsewhere and got a 22” for Christmas too lol
Man what a video! We came for the cymbals which are amazing, but that kit stole the show! 😅
For me the second set of cymbals w/the medium Ride and Hi Hat sounds the best!
I AGREE 100%! All sounded so beautiful!
added a 23" complex medium ride....just absolutely gorgeous tones.
One of the best all around setups I’ve heard from your videos. Those cymbals sound great, I’m definitely in on the thin . For me I don’t like a gong sounding cymbal 👊
I was paiste But the HHX complex is simply amazing, Its the ultimate IMO
ADDED THE 19" thin complex and it goes nice with my Evo 18" Ozone

Big fan of complex. Have the 22” thin ride. Currently looking at 16 or 17” crash.
That may be the finest sounding drum kit I’ve ever heard.
Damn pearl kit looks fantastic. I love the HHX COMPLEX
Yeah, the cymbals are fine but that kit sounds very awesome.

Not that interested in the cymbals, but those drums are FANTASTIC! Gorgeous sound and color!
The complex are my jam!
Great new crashes. Will check those out at the music store soon
Sounds really awesome
Nice video review. I’m not a big Sabian fan, but these sound nice.
Ok, now i'm really torn between those HHX Complex and the K Sweet.. Don't know what's best and unfortunately they're not easy to find where i live.
Get mine this weekend😅😅😅
These sound great. How do you feel about the Paiste pst7 line?
kidgloves2 I’m gonna be getting them somewhat soon, I’ll let you how I think they are 🙂👍

Sabian number one.
So the Extremes go away from the HHX line? Makes sense with the release of the Complex which is nice, but not quite as "trashy" as the Extreme. I'm liking their "trimmed down" line-ups!
jmetz I don’t think the x-treme crashes are going away lol. I would definitely hope not
hhx is the best line
OMG complex is amazing!
All of them please
Sabian rocks!
Wish you would have crashed the Medium Ride a bit more, also love the souund of the toms!
Am I the only one that likes the new logo?
I like it too. Never was a Sabian guy before I bought a complete set of those Complex cymbals :D Prefer this logo to the old one actually.
I just wish they would do a ride in the hhx series that had a little more weight to it

would these be good/ loud enough in a live setting with an unmic’d kit? I play alt rock, indie, sometimes punk. If not any suggestions?
Can anyone speak to the durability of the HHX Complex China (the one with holes)?
Thank you in advance for any feedback.
They are good for heavy metal?
They’re gorgeous and all, but they don’t seem all that versatile considering how thin and delicate they sound.
Hi i´m from Mexico i wonder if DCP makes shipments to my Country, cause i´m looking for the Sabian HHX Complex 14" hi hats and the 22" medium ride. Thank´s for the help.

Really? Not knocking you, just curious why you feel that way?
SHUT UP KIDDO ;)

Great video but I was hoping for the 22" complex thin crash would be in there..
How much for the lot of the Complex cymbals, Im sold!
Good Video
Thin cymbals can handle rock/metal? :)
If you hit them correctly, they can sound awesome. If you're a super-hard hitter, they won't last.
Damn!!!!!!
Sold!
Fab!!
thin is thinner than complex?
Nice
