I lost my wife to cancer, and now I suffer from depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I experienced my first panic attack during a routine doctor appointment. The panic attack began when the nurse checked my blood pressure. My heart rate was so high that she had to check it manually. I started feeling like the room was closing in on me, so I asked for the door to be opened. Shortly after, I got up and left the office. Once I reached outside the hospital, an overwhelming feeling of relief washed over me, and I felt my body slowly starting to relax.

Can you explain the egg in the throat?

Absolutely. It's a physical sensation some people experience during panic attacks. It feels like there is an object in your throat, usually right above your collar bone. People describe it as a lot of tension in that area. Some folks tend to swallow a lot in an effort to make the sensation go away which usually draws more attention to that area. Keep in mind, when you experience this your airway is completely open and there is nothing blocking it or restricting it, but someone might feel like they have an egg-sized shape in their throat. Practicing grounding/present moment exercises can be helpful. Directing your attention to other more neutral areas can also help.

Woah.. happened to me once when I was around 13 yrs. I didn't understand it. I was sick and asleep when it happened. I woke up from my sleep and started sweating, heart racing and felt like something was blocking my throat... there was a feeling of impossibility , worry.. Same thing has happened to me recently too
