    A very helpful video thanks. Mine slid off the stand, breaking the clutch lever and bar end cap last week. The gear shifter was also bent. I managed to straighten the shifter and I'm about to do the lever. The non OEM lever was £GB6 and the cheap looking OEM end cap was £GB18!

    Good to have some walkthrough while attempting to do some work on my max. As I just started riding, I don't have any experience with these things. *thumbs up*

    Hi Mackie. In the manual for my 1300 V Star its states to lubricate the levers with Lithium-soap-based grease, so lubricating the levers is recommended. When you do the coolant change make sure all the hose clamps are tight. Mine were not and it started to leak.

      Will do James, in fact I am already on it!

      Thanks man. I will do my best to film some of the trip. Not all of it obviously, but I will try to make the best of it...even if it is for my own use :)

    nice one dude.
    I always grease levers.
    As to shaft drive gear oil.. on the 900divi i have.. I've done 1 change at about 45,000miles. Due for another since I;m just over 70,000miles now.
    shaft drives tend to just go and dont need weekly/monthly fiddling with. lol
    October this year I'll have had the divi 900 for 11 years.
    In the middle of a major change to the bike. Total change of colour green to erm..green.. along with some other mods.. hehehe

      Good man, a little bit of grease on the levers can't hurt it. That's how it is with shaft drives - they just work. Luckily mine was looked after well, but even so I now know it is as it should be! Bang on!

    Nice when things work out. So I tried a couple of times to send you some beer and customs keeps kicking it back. So instead I am going to drink it in your honor this weekend! Cheers!

    Bet the shaft drive works a lot harder on the VMax than it does on the Virago brother.

    Great video I have a 92 VMAX and I am now having a hard shift into first and neutral I'm assuming it's the clutch how would I adjust that so it's not such a hard shift?

    • @MackieBass
      @MackieBass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I would start with bleeding the clutch first, as it is easy enough and can be done quick. If it won't check the manual, or seek profesional advise - as I am far from a pro :) Hope that helps.

    Today I replace my vmax 2000 final drive gear oil. Found not nice thing, only 100ml ~ maybe less and little hedgehog on drain bolt. I have this bike only 3 weeks. 40k mileage only. But no one take career of it :/. But I will try my best!

      No longer have the bike, so no, but it cannot be that complicated.

    Supposed to be a rubber gasket over the plunger too I think?

    • @MackieBass
      @MackieBass  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, which part you reffing to please? Let me know so I can double check it.

    • @mikeeger7581
      @mikeeger7581 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The front brake master cylinder plunger where it gets pushed in by the lever usually there would be a rubber boot over the end to keep dust and dirt out of the plunger moving parts??????? But on different bike models and years MAYBE not maybe they are different but my 79 Honda cm 400 has a boot

    • @MackieBass
      @MackieBass  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shit.. my guess is that you need to remove the real wheel and take it from there.

    And the oil of the transmission/gear box? Isn't that a separate oil?
