The First Symphony sounds light, elegant and chaste, with a purity that is the source of future genius. It is certainly a synthesis of the entire musical world that surrounded Wolfgang at the time. An icon of music of all time, Mozart has long been studied by musicologists, periodized, shelved and turned into a statue on a high pedestal. That is why writing about Mozart is a difficult and thankless task, and the further one goes, the more difficult it is to be original in assessing his personality and work. You have succeeded! And the eloquent portrait of a boy - at least of Mozart's age - awakens the imagination and helps to revive the image of a genius as a child and a human being. THANK YOU!

Why is this symphony so catchy? Perhaps it is a childlike joy and enthusiasm that gives it a good, honest sense of fun.

I'm in no doubt about Mozart's talent, it is just that his era of music is not what I connect with in terms of classical music. So I'll be listening (appreciatively) to your posts of his works to see if anything changes for me.

Mozart was a child at the time, he was inspired by composers of the era who were older and composing in an older style.

@@lindildeev5721 Yes, I know. It's the era's music that I stated, not the individual composer.

I've learned that music in this era was essentially treated as a science to be perfected, not a form of artistic expression. That's kinda the reason why a lot of the music sounds incredibly formulaic and symmetrical as the entire goal of music at the time was in pursuit of some kind of perfect balance rather than actual emotion which is why much of us in the modern west don't connect with it anymore

Classical music is such an ocean that everyone can find his/her spot to (connect and) swim... WA Mozart was one of the sailors who took you there.
