    Amazing Dr Phillips, I’ve always been super conscientious and proud of my teeth and was devastated to learn at my dentist recently that I have receding gums due to my “over brushing”. I've been having tarter problems all my life. I also have an infection in back molar. Flossing, rinsing, brushing, picking, 3/4 cleanings per year, coconut oil, oil pulling, electric toothbrushes, and you name it. Crap. Nothing worked and it seems like mouth is getting worse not better. Then I find Dr. Ellie. I started September 1, 2023. It's the middle of December 2023. The improvement has been stunning. Hardly any tarter or plaque at all. No flossing. No picking. Just followed the plan. The daily pain from my molar is getting less and less every week. I would also like to know. From what I heard she recommends this one because it reduces acid so it has to be something with the right PH plus it has lots of fluoride. From their website ACT Anticavity has a pH between 6.0-7.6. From centralpointfamilydentistry those are Biotene, Equate Anticavity Fluoride Mouthwash, Hello Activated Charcoal, and Peridex. Higher PH than those are Plax, Therabreath, or PRO Maintenance Rinse (Formally CTx3). Do you have any of those? Maybe just xylitol works.

      From Colgate´s website: Drink milk or eat foods that contain calcium, like cheese, which neutralize acids.
      Further, wait an hour to brush your teeth after eating something acidic. That way, your saliva can wash away acids and remineralize your enamel.

      I would personally begin trying to weigh the benefits of what is going in to the mouth vs the negatives of ingesting too much of it.
      Reduce the portion size of anything? … xylitol is wonderful because it stimulates salivation which helps to promote tooth health (with a healthy diet).
      I would (in 1/2 size amounts) focus on making use of fluoride water and xylitol products WITH A CAVEAT: xylitol can cause very painful bowel dysfunction in certain individuals, the less is more rationale is wise: if there is any discomfort, reconsider xylitol use completely, use erethryrol or allitol

    Please do your research before putting these toxic products she recommends into your mouth. I wish I had. Closys for example, if you read the negative reviews you'll find many people complaining of a metallic taste, dry mouth, burning, loss of taste. I wonder why? Could it be the TSP and Chlorine Dioxide which are both extremely harmful in the body? At first I wasn't sure which product in her "complete mouth care system" caused these symptoms for me or a combination of them but this has definitely been my experience. After a few days of using her "complete mouth care system" my mouth has never felt so battered. Dry, burned tongue and roof of mouth, inflamed taste buds, metallic taste in mouth, loss of full taste or things tasting completely off or just not even having a desire for foods I've always loved. This has continued after a week of discontinued use. If you ask her why this happened she won't respond. Please listen to my warning and do a thorough research before using these toxic products she's pushing.

For one She's against having it mixed in with our water system and she even mentions the type of Flouride to avoid ie "Tin" & "Aluminum" and the type we should use "Sodium" Flouride she even mentions the potency/ concentration percentage which I assume are found in both the Crest toothpaste and Mouthwash.

    Hi Dr Ellie, I’ve been soaking up so much of your teachings on the many wonderful videos you’ve done. I just listened to your interview on Caregiver Cast with Mary Elaine Petrucci. Toward the end of the interview (55:40), you mentioned that the silica in the Crest anti cavity toothpaste you recommend is basically calcium phosphate, the material that makes up our teeth. I was surprised to hear that because calcium and phosphorus are both elements, and silica is another element (not the same). However, I’ve heard the theory that silica can transmutate and become calcium in the body. There’s an example of a hen’s laying chickens with large amounts of calcium in their eggshells but very little in their diets, while silica is abundant in their diet. So the silica transmutates into calcium. Could you please explain if you misspoke or does the silica actually become part of our teeth? And is there any use for putting some kind of calcium on our teeth directly? Bone meal, coral calcium, Calcium phosphate (Min-Col soft rock Calc phos). I can’t thank you enough for all you’re doing!

      The reason you don't rinse with water is because it will generally make your mouth pH acidic, and also there is no need for it. You would not want to rinse the Closys off before brushing because it corrects your oral pH to be alkaline. If you brush acid-softened teeth, it will damage the enamel. The third step of Listerine rinses the remainder of toothpaste off your teeth after you spit the toothpaste out. The 4th step of ACT rinses the Listerine residue out of the mouth. The final step of ACT is to remain on the teeth to work.

    I am impressed with your approach to dental health and want to follow it but I am conflicted. Dr. Nathan Bryan says that mouthwash destroys the good bacteria that is needed to convert nitrates to nitric oxide. I wish to increase my nitric oxide and also improve my dental health. Please help.

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  ปีที่แล้ว +28

      It a wrong to say "mouthwash" destroys good mouth bacteria. Everything we drink "washes" our mouth and dilutes saliva and washes some bacteria from our mouth. This is a normal thing that happens when we drink - anything, and why I tell people not sip drinks all day - not even water.
      We need healthy saliva to interact with our teeth, gums, and the denitrifying bacteria (that turn nitrates into nitric oxide).
      Denitrifying bacteria are found on the back surface of our tongue - which is why I do not recommend tongue scraping either.
      My system uses specific rinses that Promote healthy mouth bacteria and people on my system have great NO levels.
      The bacterial profile of every mouth is unique - like a mouth fingerprint. This mixture is tenacious and believe me, it does not "wash away" .
      20% of bacteria float in our saliva (and change quite a bit) but 80% of the mouths bacteria are woven into a film that covers our mouth - a biofilm.
      Almost half of this biofilm was developed during your childhood - that's how tenacious it is!
      Dr. Bryan is testing floating bacteria in saliva - some of studies he quotes have been dismissed as inaccurate and the others have measured planktonic/floating bacteria - which do change a lot, get washed away and then replaced, all the time.
      The ONLY mouth rinse shown in studies to be any concern is prescription strength Chlorhexidine. A rinse I would never recommend.
      Listerine is the rinse people love to hate, but they are so wrong. Cool MInt and Original Listerine create their benefits with essential oils and in a study, Listerine was found to be equivalent to water in its effect on nitric oxide. Read the highlights of this study:

    Hi Dr. Ellie, my dentist said I should stop chewing gum (I used to chew a LOT of sugar free gum) but that the over-mastication was causing more gum recession. I stopped chewing gum and haven't really noticed a change, so I'm wondering what your thoughts were on this? The dentist said that I was overworking my teeth. They were not meant to be chewing so much, only when consuming food, so this was adding pressure to the tooth, which they described to me like if I had a turtle neck and every time you bite down, it loosens the grip around the tooth, causing the recession. Do you agree with this?

      according to dr Phillips, gum recession is a sympton of bad bacteria thriving in your mouth. This protocol is for that to, or maybe you need a curetage too. I have never heard about chewing gum causing gum problems, quite de contrary (good for the teeth for the saliva). In any case It would affect tha jaw, imho

      I have to say your dentist is an idiot. “Over mastication”? Our teeth were design by God for chewing! Your dentist is making things up as he goes along. Chewing is not the problem. Sugar+harmful oral microbes is the problem.
      Kill the harmful microbes and remineralize teeth with Xylitol and Fluoride.

    I suspect i have an allergy to SLS. Dr. Ellie what do you recommend?

    • @dr.elliephillips
      @dr.elliephillips  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Try my complete mouth care system with the exact products, used in the exact way that I recommend.
      This means using the very old formulation of crest cavity protection, regular paste.
      This was the only paste that never created allergic responses. My belief is that when they changed the formulation Iand started to use stannous fluoride in place of sodium fluoride, they changed the other ingredients that were not able to mix with the tin-based stannous fluoride. This was the time when people blamed SLS for allergic responses. I believe it was the combination of SLS, calcium carbonate, and stannous fluoride, that created the problem.
      It’s kind of like having the wrong ingredients in a brownie mix. It’s very important which kind of flour, butter, etc. If you select the cheapest ingredients and try to mix them up in the same way as a butter-based traditional brownie would be mixed, you will get a very different result. 😳🧐
      I suggest using my specific recipe for success. I believe you will find it works like a charm. ☺️🙂👍

    Nope. I have all sorts of digestive problems with xylitol. It is poison for me. Years ago my hygienist told me to brush, floss, then rinse my mouth for 30 seconds with 1:1 warm water and hydrogen peroxide. That was about 15 years ago. My gums were spongy with deep pockets. But no more. I haven’t had a gum problem since. My current dentist remarks on how healthy my gums are and the deep pockets have healed. Pretty good for an old lady of 72 years. Life just doesn’t need to be this complicated.

      You might have been ingesting too much xylitol mate. All you need is like 5 grams a day, divided up throughout the day. Also, you don't even need to swallow it. I just take ateaspoon of xylitol, put it on my tongue, let it melt and let saliva form, then swish vigorously for a few minutes and then spit it out.
      I do that once or twice a day after a meal or snacks.
