Hey Your Guitar Workshop! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it. Yeah, I think it was also a combination of my Magic Trackpad that was starting to die. I used it on and off and before the July of last year it was resting in a packed box for at least before the pandemic. Honestly, like I said in my video if it wasn’t for the batteries draining so quickly I would not have upgraded. Before using it with Universal Control in my workflow the batteries were lasting around 3 - 6 weeks.
I'm still using the original magic trackpad, I'm considering buying the latest one but am not finding much info on the 2 vs the 3. Other than the braided cable are you aware of any differences between the 2nd and 3rd versions of this?
Rechargeable Alkaline batteries have a limited number of recharges(around 10 at best), after that not only are they very unsafe to use, but they are not as effective as Lithium Ion.
@@FuudTV please tell this to the rechargeable AA batteries I use for the past 6years of which in the past 3years they have been used in a xbox controller and they work perfectly

@@FuudTV alkaline AAA batteries aren't rechargeable It's the nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) ones that are. So apart from the size and batteries, the og trackpad still has the same features? I’m contemplating getting it for my iPad 10th gen and MacBook Pro for when I’m sitting at my desk (also trying to avoid buying the magic folio case 😅)
For the most part ..... YEAH! I don't use the new Magic Trackpad any different on how I use the old one. you just use 2 fingers to right click- or in settings you can define a "right click" if you're on the right side of the trackpad. This has been the norm since they removed the trackpad button on MacBooks over 10 years ago and has not changed.
Great Question! Because of Apple's naming convention you want to look for Apple Magic Trackpad 2021. That is the latest 3rd version of the Magic Trackpad. Hope that helps!
I just got the newest magic trackpad as an upgrade to the original, but I found the surface of the new version a lot less smooth than the original. This is a huge surprise as the reviews I read all compliment the smoothness of the new trackpad. Do you also have the same experience? How do you find the surface smoothness of version 3?
Hey Yijia Zhan! I have both in front of me and in smoothness, maybe because I used my old one for so many years it isn't as smooth as the new one. The size has made such a difference though, especially when I am editing videos.
Why do you refer to the latest trackpad as version 3? I was able to find only version 1 and version 2. Is there really version 3 and what is the part number than for 2nd and 3rd generation?
Hey @maksimkazlouski5959! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it! Technically, there is "Magic Trackpad" with no version behind it lol. But yes, there has been 3 versions. 1st version launched in 2010, took physical batteries and a bit smaller than the ones today. 2nd version launched in 2015, larger, rechargeable battery, lightning port etc. 3rd version launched in 2022, and yes not too different from the 2nd version. 3rd version has the updated automatic connect or pairing similar to the apple AirPods, rounder corners, and longer battery life, yes it has a few more changes, but not that is groundbreaking between the 2nd version. Hope that helps my friend!
Hey There! Thanks for taking the time to leave a question in the comments. I don't personally have the new Apple Keyboard, but that is weird and couldn't tell you why off-hand.

I ain’t gonna lie, I’m looking for a comparison between the magic trackpad 2 and the magic trackpad three and no one on TH-cam has done one. I’m kind of questioning why
There isn't much of a difference between the 2. The newest model comes in black, and comes with a USB-C to lighting and can be picked up to pair easily by showing up screen. Minor, minor changes. Hence Apple didn't call it the Magic Trackpad 3 and mind you they are clearing up their naming for their devices, and making it more simple.
Hey Amenah Dhirani ! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it! Absolutely! The original touchpad if you haven't or if you get one used is still more than capable and exactly what I was using till I upgraded. Personally I feel like the apple trackpad is great for anyone that wants a "macbook" like experience with they're desktop mac. However, there are certain instances where I would say that the trackpad is not that great. Like when doing creative work where precision is neccessary like photoshop or any other program that requires fine movement of the mouse, your going to severely cripple yourself and wish you had a mouse to begin with. For general use though it is great. Keep in mind also, that the trackpad does not have the same polling rate or coating as the one on the macbook, so the experience is not exactly one to one.
Glad I found this! I've got one on the way to use with my Logitech MX3 mouse. I use two 27" screens, side by side, on an M1 MacMini using Stage Manager. I wish I could have two cursors going at the same time. One for each screen. That way I could use my left hand for the left screen, and my right hand for the right screen. But I doubt that is possible. Also, I may set up my iPad to use with my M1 MacMini, as you did.
Hey Kitacha Callander, thank-you for taking the time to leave a comment! Its hard to say, and hope the video helped somewhat. If you have used a trackpad on a MacBook and starting to use a desktop or laptop in a desktop mode the trackpad is hard to beat if you enjoy it. I use both for different reasons, but if I had to choose one, it would be a mouse for versatility and options depending on the type of mouse you get. Hope that helps.

I have the original MTP (which I think I got with an iMac), and I've bought (but returned) the newer versions, but I just can't get the hang of using it. I must admit, though, that I LOVE the Magic Mouse (charging stupidity notwithstanding). For all the griping about ergonomics, I've not had any hand pain in the decade+ that I've been using it. I wonder if it's a function of having come up on a Mac rather than a Windows mouse. The latter teaches you to keep two fingers hovering over the surface, while the old one-button Mac mouses has me draping my index finger across the surface towards the right, my middle finger kept off the side. I click left or right with the same index finger. (And I hardly right-click.) Anyway, love your videos.
