  • How does the RTX 2080 get on at 1080p and 1440p gaming? I've got some benchmarks to see how good the value of this Nvidia graphics card is!

Just upgraded a few weeks ago from an Aorus 1080ti to a Strix 2080ti. I think the 1080ti is a very good card considering its age, but the 2080ti is lightyears ahead in performance. Sold the 1080ti for €200, abd bought the 2080ti for €250. Its probably the last GPU i'll ever need, as i'm not planning to go over 1080p resolution, and with supersampling (1440p) plus every setting on ultra/max, and with 8xAA everything looks top notch, and the performance is also way over my 60fps goal, mostly double or triple that. This card beats any current gen RTX 60series cards, and is about on par with the 70series, with a decent OC even in the ballpark of 70ti series, but it costs nothing in comparison. I greatly suggest to get one (preferably a version with massive cooling), there won't be anything better for the price @ 1080p or 1440p.
Edit : You'll also need a CPU to support it, or else it can be easily bottlenecked

I'm still using a 2060S, I bought it almost 4 1/2 years ago just before the GPUpocalypse kicked in so I paid retail for it, I was after a 2070S but the shop sold it before I got there and the 2060S was the last card in my town so I bought it. While the purchase initially left me a little deflated I was quite impressed by the uplift from my 1060 6GB and am currently amazed by the longevity of the card, it's still fine for all but a couple of games at 1080P high settings and even a few RT games using DLSS to bring the frames up to 60. The newest F1 games run their RT lite effects quite easily but IMO the F1 games need to be locked at 120FPS to make the physics switch on properly, most race games are fine at 60 but the F1 games feel a bit off and skittish at 60FPS.

As a 3060Ti owner, I gotta say the 20 series has aged VERY well and it's almost purely thanks to the Turing architecture and DLSS upscaling. As of writing DLSS 3.7 looks leagues better than DLSS 1 ever did in 2018/2019. I'd even go so far as to say the RTX 20 series is, and will, age better than the 10 series ever did. As much as I hate DLSS 3 Frame Generation, Super Resolution & Ray Reconstruction are a blessing. The RTX 20 series aged like a vintage Italian wine. I am slightly disappointed by your testing though, most people customize their settings and do not use presets. It would be helpful to see customized optimized settings to squeeze every frame out of your GPU.

Ive purchased more 3080s than 2080s cause at least here in the seattle area the price I can get a 3080 for is soo close to what most sellers want for a 2080 its completely pointless... if in a few years they loose gold plated status in sellers minds and I can start getting them for like $120 or something like that then maybe ill consider it, until then ill stick with 1080s, and 3080s
