The ideal would be a 9174F or 9274F (my choice), on max the 9374F. These are real gaming-server cpus capable of.

Bruh Obviously the epyc server CPU isn't optimized to play games So even with a 4090 it wouldn't work great, and even then Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 brought so much optimization that I can play it with med-high settings on 1080p in 60 fps plus easily with a 970 or 1070

The 4090 is too much for these dual 9754 bro, the ideal to avoid this bottleneck would be a higher clock and single thread cpu like the 9174F or the (m pick) 9274F, then you would see a possible double fps and a (still) low cpu usage.

Major Edit: I own AMD Ryzen now. 7800X3D. Much happier :) Although my dream one day is a Threadripper or EPYC second or third build! AMD has no competition from Intel in server workstation CPU's yet, and I say this as a happy Intel owner. Intel Xeon 6 shows great promise, but Threadripper PRO and EPYC are on another planet!
Cyberpunk has issues with multi-CPU systems, where some of its processes can end up being assigned to an entirely separate CPU. Beyond that from other tests, it seems many games start to run into issues after 64 cores. PC, photoshop also has issues when there are a large number of cores and threads.
Last year I built a dual Epyc 74F3 watercooled with DeepCool LT720 (and 3d printed adapters for the socket) + a 3090 Ti and it performs around 70 fps avg on 2.5k ultra + dlss and RT. No issues.
That 4090 has probably never felt so small in its entire manufactured life cycle, as it does right now placed next to such ridiculously Colossal Titans of hardware

Realistically speaking, there's no point in going above 7K USD, and that's pushing it since that price account for what streamers may need. For the average gamer, a 5K $ build is more than enough for 4k gaming, and that includes the peripherals too.
For online games it was decided closest averages fps to all players with ranges of faster and slower for compatibility to insure accuracy for all hardware
I have 64GB of system ram in my computer and it does come in handy when I have a ton of tabs open. I've seen task manager saying over 32GB of ram is being used when I've had a ton of tabs open so yes it does make sense to have 64GB of system ram. Also I knew Windows 11 Pro supported atleast 1TB of system ram but I didn't know it actually supported upto 2TB of system ram.

I was asking myself if spent too much on my Ryzen 9 7950X3D @ 4.2Ghz, Gigabyte GeForce RTX4090 Windforce V2, 64gb Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-5600 ram, ASUS Prime X670-P ATX AM5 Motherboard with it's case and some other goodies along with the 49" ultrawide and now I can say no. No, I did not spend too much. The best part is in a few years I'll still be able to sell the CPU for a pretty descent price and upgrade it to finally stop bottlenecking the 4090.
I have a Blender 3D workstation with a 24 core TR and dual 4090s. The problem i always hit is having to manually reduce the active cores to get games to run at all. once I limit it down to to 12 cores it works well for most games.
This is a very interesting, and expensive, build, but just so everyone knows - the AMD Threadripper line of CPU's are not made for gaming. Yes, they have more cores and threads than any Ryzen or Intel CPU does, but their base clockspeed, and boosted clockspeed, aren't nearly as fast as your traditional CPU, and there aren't any games out there that can take advantage of so many cores. This kind of CPU was built for 3D modeling, AI Work, and video/music production, not gaming. In a lot of ways, something like a 7800X3D or 14900K would run circles around this CPU in terms of gaming and latency.

Minecraft with infinite rendering and the 40x texture pack with shaders will bring this thing to its knees.
