Great to see you back in the saddle. The reel repair was impressive. Tight lines Captain Chris!

Hats off to you for another great video! Very informative detail with regard to the Gulf Stream. You and your crew showed impressive skill fighting that giant for hours. It truly was like bringing a knife to a gun battle. I too lost a similar battle in June 2001 aboard my 24’ walk around. I was on the 20 line a few miles north of the 28 mile wreck. After hours, we had the giant within 30’ of the boat when the hook pulled. I think of that battle often, it keeps me coming back. Wish you could of landed that one.

Chris, another great video. Your story sounds like mine. Week off and bad weather off shore. Hope our luck changes soon. Thanks for all the tips. Keep lines tight. The Dorothy Grace

Hey Chris! Glad to see another video! However….were you hiding in our cockpit on July 13th? We were at the Wilmington, left at midnight so we could be on the early bite. Within 10 mins hooked up and landed a 60# yellow fin. Trolled for a couple more hours with peanut mahi knocking down our gear until 10:10am when our 50 wide exploded. This fish dumped a 50 wide Penn on an 80# test custom rod, through the backing 20 times over 7 hours, 3 of us taking turns reeling!! WOW never saw him for the first 6 hours until we tightened the drag and he couldn’t sound any more and decided to surface! We saw his tail, more than 3’ wide and believed he was at least 90” long!!! Frankly a little scary actually a lot scary! Finally after more than 7 hours we got him straight up and down to about 50’ we think, when the 80# test parted with an explosion and he was gone!! We all decided he earned, he took his freedom to fight another day. Thank goodness bc we had no idea how we’d get him in the boat, we have a block and tackle but not sure he’d fit through the transom door!!

I could feel the tension and stress when you were fixing the handle. You guys were like a well oiled pit crew changing a tire. Would have been nice to win the prize and get the fish but that's not always possible. You will get her next time and she will still have the rig in her mouth :) Loved the info on the charts that you gave in the beginning. I would like to share this video if you don't mind. Keep up the great work

Wow Chris, your dad's age 77, been fishing all my life inshore have 17' sea nymph cc with 90hp, fish Raritan bay, sandy hook launch out of rumson, have watched every wicked tuna episode and honestly on the edge of my couch with the battle, your video just made it so real and exciting vrs the wicked tuna pros, would have loved to see that jumbo, yes totally understand buyers remorse when you spend the money and she just sits there. Hopefully the future will bring you many good times on the little reaper. Our futures are never guaranteed, make the most of each day as it comes. Ask your dad about how fast life slips away and the most precious commodity we have is time and second our health. Dodged a few health bullits and now having fun with my 10 yr old grandson who has caught the fishing fever. Fish with my daughter and him whenever we can. Ok Chris tight lines and keep making those story's and adventures. .... Walt
