Why collect blindly, I think we should all know what our collection is worth. I had a crazy 2023 where I was buying any and everything, but 2024 I have refocused on Mustangs as my main focus. Thanks for all your effort and information in these. I have become a fan 😎🤙
As I've said before hype only lasts for a short while.... Just think back, some years ago the VW Drag Bus was the hottest thing out there.... 83 Silverado's took the spotlight for a while.... Investing in Hot Wheels is all discretionary money. A Grail is only a Grail to the one hunting for it. To each his/her own.👍👍👏👏👏

The rlc blue r34 is my grail piece in my collection. I was so excited that i got it for 20 bucks on the rlc club. I remember them being $60-80 on ebay the next day. It's the only release that has the painted brakes/rotors, interior and engine bay. I personally think it should cost more. Can't wait to add the new rlc r34 to my collection. Good luck to everyone.
My goal car was the RWB Porsche RLC, took a year to find one, but I found a 1200s area one so I’m satisfied. Also I heard the license supposedly expired.
my goal car is the tooligan treasure hunt. there is so many scalpers in my area that buy everything the second a restock happens that i get excited when i find a cool mainline i like. like the green miata
I achieved my goal car(s) a few months ago. I finally got my hands on a 2017 BMW 3.0 CSL ToyFair and Period Correct Mercedes 190e. Along the way I have had ToyFair Porsches, Employee Porsches, all of the high dollar R34s. Came across a guy that bought my entire collection and I was able to get my GRAILS. Now all I have left are BMWs and Mercedes.

My son and I were going through some totes, I knew I had two closed, but it turns out we have three blue R34s closed and one open. That is not counting the one my dad has for him also. I do not have the yellow R34 so I guess that would be my goal car, other than that I am not sure, if there is something that I want I usually make it happen a some point. My kid is really good at knowing what to buy in the sense of a going up in price, My cousin used to say my kid was nuts because he would buy a car for 80 bucks or a 100 bucks and now those cars are worth way more. My sons goal car would be the M and M Kool Kombi. You and my son are good at what yinz do.

I've never aspired to own an R34, in 1:64 or in real life. It's fine if people do though. I don't think any collector should EVER collect a piece because of it's popularity or calue to other collectors. A true collector buys the things they like, regardles of value or rarity. If you want to see it as a business model, then thats something totally different, thats not just a collector. Collect the things you like, forget about the opinions of others.
Shout out DieCash with the R34 crystal ball. My general leanings in my diecast collection is indeed Nissan Skyline R30 thru R35 with the obvious emphasis on R34. Got all of em, just having a hard time crossing the 4 digit threshold to acquire the yellow convention piece. In Canada, sellers are asking north of $950 to $1100.
I dont know, I open all my hotwheels, they are toys after all, not even 64th scale. The ones I treat better are the brands that are actual model versions of the cars, at least to scale and the amount detail. My R34 god tier is the PGM Millennium Jade Nismo R34 it is a superior casting to any hotwheels made ever. I have my share of R34 hotwheels and tampers just dont match up to actual plastic inserts, even the engine and interior is not comparable. This one is a 1/999 pieces. (mine is #181). I get the love for hotwheels, ( have a sizeable collection of the cars myself) but to pay that much for literally a toy is some what insane to me. Happy collecting though.
My goal is that Treasure Hunt Duck n' Roll a few years back, the gold one. It's kind of crazy that despite it being a RTH and a fantasy, it goes for decent money...even more than some STHs that I've seen.
The Blue RLC R34 and the purple ond are definitely on my wish list, not a fan of the yellow one though. The RLC M&M Kool Kombi is one of my grail cars.

I don't know about your goal car thing. I've always been a lover of the 510 Wagon. When I started, "collecting," in February the white Walmart exclusive from the Hot Wagons series became my goal car. In two months I finally got to the point where I learned I could ask employees when a shipment would be coming in and finally hit a virgin peg. When I saw them I felt nothing. No sense of shock, no sense of exhilaration, no joy. I scooped up the 3 white 510's like a schlub and checked out. Goal fulfilled, but yeah I'm not onboard with your theory. I'd have to say that for my first month I was jonesing strongly for that car, and would have been elated if I had been able to grab one off a peg. But after that first month, seeing the scalpers selling and becoming numb to my desire in the ensuing month... And now I'm behaving like those that ruined it for me, grabbing them all off the peg. So ashamed.
Factory Sealed Set cars are scalped from a complete set sold together from the year. Expensive way to get the car you want, nothing special. If anything, it's a bad mark.
I'd have to go against this video entirely. I haven't bought a single car in my collection online. I enjoy looking in stores for stuff that I find interest in which is mostly anything besides fantasy cars. I don't think every collector needs 1 specific goal car. I get what I get in store and if I don't get it. Oh Well
