Another advice: only collect what you REALLY want to collect. In collecting hobbies (LEGO, stamps, coins, etc) people have different interests. Some are generalists that collect everything, others are specialists that have very specific collections. Some collect to complete a set, others only collect what they really like. Some collect sealed, others collect loose. Personally I only collect premium castings that I really like and avoid castings that are too similar. A small but diverse collection, that's exactly what I want.
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I'm doing the same, really keeps me from hording. However growing up with brands like Action Diecast and TSM I can't stand leaving them in the blister. So now they are on a 3d printed display with the card art built into the background to add some personality.

I’m glad you touched on the buying 30 of 1 casting. I’m a customizer as well, but I try not to buy every one I see of a livery that’s more popular than a lesser one. I try to remember that in speaking of mainlines, they’re a children’s toy first. I’m a collector bcuz I remember what it was like finding that one I wanted when I was a kid. Today’s kids won’t understand that feeling bcuz of grown men taking all of them. The future of the hobby rests on those children today and it’s important to plant that seed. Especially for those that are in it more for a monetary reason (I’m not, I open all mine), bcuz without them growing in the hobby, the values will decrease. I’ve left STHs on pegs if I already have it.
That’s a great explanation, though for those who are new to using fandom do be aware that not every variation is going to be there as it’s a community run website and relys on people sharing their variations that are not yet on there

I still haven't found the answer to the following questions... why buy everything and keep it locked in a package? To resell it later? What's the point? I just started buying different interesting Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars, I open them and put them somewhere and sometimes you can play with them to keep your hands busy)
Some get opened, but most stay packaged for the complete collection later in life. It's easy to just display carded than building shelves or buying high-end display cases for loose cars. Plus, when I look back later on, I can see the card changes and know exactly when they were released. If my daughter ever sells them in the future, atleast they will all be completely packaged and easier to get rid of

I just started collecting Hotwheels diecasts 2 weeks ago because I got re-invested into the Acceleracers movie series. I've collected 10 so far and I never realized how AWESOME the fantasy cars are from the 2000s
Sadly here in Southern California those TH's, STH's and Chases never make it onto pegs. The store managers, stockers, employees are all in on the racket to pilfer the desirable cars from the cases and a regular consumer doesn't even stand a chance of finding one.
What an awesome video for beginners, man! I love it! Me and my son just started collecting/hunting last year. Wish we would have watched this when we started lol! Good stuff, bro!
i can't find any info online about people collecting the bigger cars, such as 1:32 models and such. Nor if there exists variants or supers of those models.
What’s crazy is I’ve been a fan and collector of hot wheels since I was a kid and I definitely stopped buying through my teens and twenties but I’ve never even heard of treasure hunts or supers until this year 😂
Ive been getting back into hotwheels ever since ive been getting them in lots for cheap at a local auction. One casting in particular that i would want to collect is the Surfin School Bus. From the first edition from 2001 to the Toys-For-Tots exclusive, I'll even try to get the limited convention exclusive that's out of 12500

I have a question. Should you buy hot wheels by collections? Like on the back of a hw premium card there’s pictures of five cars, which is a collection. Should you buy all of cars in collection, or just buy what i want?
Just starting the video,I found my old collection from 1998-2010 not sure if it’s worth going through. All unopened was just buying cars I enjoyed didn’t know about things to look for
I Recently started collecting them again, but i go for the more unique/strange looking cars as compared to the real cars, I would love a STH or TH in my collection but I'm not going out of my way to get one.
I open them and keep them in jammers to keep, or trade. Sometimes I even add them to packages in a trade or donate at the end of year to the local Children's hospital
Ok cool so it's really about the collecting aspect and "the hunt" then? Trying to figure things out because I'm just starting out (loved them as a kid but couldn't afford then and now I can) but with all the cars everywhere and all the different kinds it's a but overwhelming. Haha
Yeah it's about finding all the ones you like, hunting those down whether in store or antique malls etc. Trading is also fun too. Glad you're joining it these days!
I somehow got into collecting them in 2011. I like getting weird looking cars or cars that are unique in any way. I also like fiats 500 as i drive a Fiat. I don't buy everything but my collection has increased and now i have like two full totes. None is treasure hunt unfortunately.
Personally I collect JDMs and the HW Exotics line, and yeah if your new into collecting HWs, it's really nice getting 2 of the same car. I had carded 904, Jesko, and T50 for collection and a loose one of the same thing so I could play with it on tracks with my sib. and if there's a case where I see a really good fantasy car (like the El Segundo Coupe or Scoopa di Fuego) I'd take it too from the pegs.
I am a card collector but I see why people want to collect loose. Nothing is better than opening a Hot Wheel. The only one I have opened recently is my Carbonator. It is actually very nice to have at my desk
I was a guy who just bought cars I like that looked cool or experiment cars or new casting literally everything got up to 500 cars or more but have been opening the cars I like now like just opened a Kia stingray gt 2019 also got bunch matchbox have been giving double to coworkers kids at work too it just they everywhere now 😂 but I love it i have a shoebox of about 7 tressure hunts and 1 super also a chase car but I love opening cards and I want customize a bunch still ❤
Great Video, I was collecting Hot Wheels since 2007 at stores and on eBay. I was thinking of getting out of it until I watched your video and now I don't no what to do. I was trying to collect 2 of all Hot Wheels from 1990 to now of every variation and you are right. It is over whelming at times. What I want to know before I decide to keep going with it is How good does the card or bubble of the Hot Wheel needs to be in order to count as being done. Can you Answer that, That will be great on my decision on keep collecting. Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Well just to comment directly, I mean I only hear its due to the price of shipping. For me, I've sent a couple and 2 got lost in transit. So I think it's the risk of it not getting there and causing issues with the buyer. But idk what everyone's reasons are. I think it's just cost for many
Are the exclusives worth anything? I found a whole gang of Dollar General exclusives. I got all four DG exclusives but i was thinking about grabbing more if they were worth maybe $3 or $4. Im not looking to get rich off it or anything, just make enough to pay for the cars i want to keep for myself.
How to interpret the codes printed on the back of the cards would definitely be so helpful for beginners like me. For example, how to tell what month or year the year was made on HW.
No, they will send you a random car in its place. Could be a fantasy car or a licensed one. I did a claim on a damaged Porsche Matchbox and they sent some random car to replace it. The fine print on back says it's not meant to replace for exact
First of all, hot wheels seems to be cheaper in USA. Europe's price range is like ~1,70$ - 3,80$ for normal models. Secondly I don't know if there are any europe exclusives. And at the end, in our shops there are not so many pieces like in Walmart. Your shops are BIG :)
I got like 12 to 16 bone shakers during a phase last year. I then realized that i was not into fantasy cars and i was thinking of trading or donating them. I guess i shall listen to your advice and keep them for now. Thanks.
Great information Jason. If I would add anything else it would be, Collect what you like and like what you collect. Don’t collect something just because it’s popular at the time. Take care my friend! 👍🇺🇸
It’s $2.50 in Canada now 😭 I have to limit myself to like 5 cars every time I go shopping now, luckily my parents bought me tons of hw’s when I was a kid so I already have a stock of some rare ones
Great video, I'm new to dycast collecting. You seem very well informed On the current dicast collecting world As a Mustang dicast specialist, do you know of a 1971 72 or 73 Mustang coupe notch back in die cast
I got a couple this month, and i'm pretty sure i have much more from ages ago. Need to check databases lol - One question: opening them will mean automatically they will lose ALL of its value?
Im old so i take mine out the box. I rember when thay came in a full dox. When i die someone will end up with some nice ones.. Opened and not.. I have a lot of unopened.... At yhis point i just want to enjoy them..
I kinda do the same with Chevy GM GMC. see you get the Ford's I get the Chevys.... Cool It all works out... I do enjoy my hot wheels. Have a good day.. Happy hunting...

That’s one Awesome room ! I see you have a few Richard Petty cars, nice
Oh yeah! Thanks man, I have others stored, but gotta rep The King and Kyle Petty
I somehow got into collecting them in 2011. I like getting weird looking cars or cars that are unique in any way. I also like fiats 500 as i drive a Fiat. I don't buy everything but my collection has increased and now i have like two full totes. None is treasure hunt unfortunately.
I’ve stopped collecting hot wheels for about a year now and I’ve finally decided to start collecting again 😀👍
Personally I collect JDMs and the HW Exotics line, and yeah if your new into collecting HWs, it's really nice getting 2 of the same car. I had carded 904, Jesko, and T50 for collection and a loose one of the same thing so I could play with it on tracks with my sib. and if there's a case where I see a really good fantasy car (like the El Segundo Coupe or Scoopa di Fuego) I'd take it too from the pegs.
dont forget one for your kid so get 3
Facts!
I have found 3 or 4,5 supers and traded them all. The best one I found was the F1 ford truck from (2021?) I have a pic of it to remember it
😎🤙🤙
What about error cards? I have about 4-5 Hot Wheels that are not in their correct packaging. One is even a TH.
Those are good to collect as well
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I have a Kamino Car on a Tatooine Card
Thank you so much!! This video was very helpful indeed!!
Awesome!
I am a card collector but I see why people want to collect loose. Nothing is better than opening a Hot Wheel. The only one I have opened recently is my Carbonator. It is actually very nice to have at my desk
Definitely choose the ones you want to open. I never really open my Mustangs, especially Hot Wheels, but everything else I will (most likely) lol
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I'm a Camaro collector! I can't even bring myself to open my duplicates lol
Lol in time I feel. Took me a couple years to accept opening some. Rare or HTF ones I won't open. Chases or Supers lol
I was a guy who just bought cars I like that looked cool or experiment cars or new casting literally everything got up to 500 cars or more but have been opening the cars I like now like just opened a Kia stingray gt 2019 also got bunch matchbox have been giving double to coworkers kids at work too it just they everywhere now 😂 but I love it i have a shoebox of about 7 tressure hunts and 1 super also a chase car but I love opening cards and I want customize a bunch still ❤
I just got back into collecting and I think I’m going to stick with the car culture sets this time rather than mainline.
Excellent video, did you mention card board collecting..lol.Awesom info..it's
Who know at Walmart lol..
🤣🤣🤣
The first tip I would give is "enjoy and have fun" ... if anyone that wants to get into collecting is not enjoying it first then it will not last!
Very true!
Got a link to the storage boxes? Cannot find them. Thanks.

Where do you get those covers for your hot wheels? It’s almost like a Pokémon card slip but for hot wheels, I want them
If you're talking about the little fitted bags, I get them from Walmarts craft jewelry section
Thanks.
I will make a video on that for you!
how did you manage to put all on your wall?, what did you use for it?
Peg board and screws for the stacked display and the rest is thumbtack
Of course the hot wheels collector loves mustangs 😂
Do you guys also get them as often as we do in Europe? (Somehow we get them nearly every set)
Somewhat do lol
Love for your shoutout to Jakarta Diecast Project because it's from my country and they do very great job at custom diecast
What if I'm on the other end of this and ready to sell off a sixty-five-year collection?
I hope it goes to a good collector or collectors if you piece it out
@@MUSTANGHUNTER I was hoping you might know someone I could contact? Preferably in the Ohio valley region but I'd deal with anyone legit.
Jason can you tell me why apart from the postage to UK why don't Americans wanna sell to us we use PayPal aswell
Well just to comment directly, I mean I only hear its due to the price of shipping. For me, I've sent a couple and 2 got lost in transit. So I think it's the risk of it not getting there and causing issues with the buyer. But idk what everyone's reasons are. I think it's just cost for many
Amazing collection dude, inspired me when i watched it for sure!! Keep the videos rolling. Best diecast ytber in my opinion. 🚀🔥
Thanks man! Really. Hope you continue to enjoy
Did you mention a site to locate hot wheels? Fantham ? Something like that?
Fandom, yes
Are the exclusives worth anything? I found a whole gang of Dollar General exclusives. I got all four DG exclusives but i was thinking about grabbing more if they were worth maybe $3 or $4. Im not looking to get rich off it or anything, just make enough to pay for the cars i want to keep for myself.
Exclusives are worth a little more for those who don't have access to them. Not priced as a super or chase. But maybe $3-5 depending
How to interpret the codes printed on the back of the cards would definitely be so helpful for beginners like me. For example, how to tell what month or year the year was made on HW.
I'll add the month codes in another episode
Very cool collection. Just wondering how many cars you have?.👍👍
Its about 7k
This might be a stupid question but what does the limited lifetime warranty do?! Like will they give you the exact Hot Wheel car?!
No, they will send you a random car in its place. Could be a fantasy car or a licensed one. I did a claim on a damaged Porsche Matchbox and they sent some random car to replace it. The fine print on back says it's not meant to replace for exact
Here is that episode th-cam.com/video/3vJUVoCW8y0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=j_m1gJlDn5yfBHrA
Awesome tips and information 👌
I’ve found a couple Zamac in a 99 cents store honestly!
😎🤙🤙🤙🤙
First of all, hot wheels seems to be cheaper in USA. Europe's price range is like ~1,70$ - 3,80$ for normal models. Secondly I don't know if there are any europe exclusives. And at the end, in our shops there are not so many pieces like in Walmart. Your shops are BIG :)
Oh wow! That's interesting to know
I got like 12 to 16 bone shakers during a phase last year. I then realized that i was not into fantasy cars and i was thinking of trading or donating them. I guess i shall listen to your advice and keep them for now. Thanks.
Hold onto them for a while, and then if you have ZERO attachment later on after lookin at them, then donate or trade away
Super cool lacolestion😊
Great information Jason.
If I would add anything else it would be,
Collect what you like and like what you collect.
Don’t collect something just because it’s popular at the time. Take care my friend! 👍🇺🇸
That's a heavy fact right there! Thanks!
How many hot wheels cars do you need to have to be considered a collector?
Just more than 1 lol and of course what you like
@@MUSTANGHUNTER oh OK then I git 20 premium hot wheels and 2 mainline hot wheels and a 1:38 scale car
I believe Johnny Lightning has done the notchback, mainly sport roofs tho
@@MUSTANGHUNTER Would you know how many hot wheel sports roofs have been issued? Like the diamonds are forever red 73
I would be very surprised if you didn't have that. 007 James Bond red Mustang in your collection.
Is there a gone in sixty seconds sports roof
Yea I have 3 variations of it
I got a couple this month, and i'm pretty sure i have much more from ages ago. Need to check databases lol - One question: opening them will mean automatically they will lose ALL of its value?
Mainlines have no value sorry mass produced lol
True these days, unless you have rare interior variations etc from mid late 90s
@SJohnson-dt7qk just desirability
I don’ t understand what “loose casting” is. Can anyone explain it please?
"Loose" just means that it's out of the package
What's the /250 mean on the package?
It means total 250 castings were made in that specific year
New to the Chanel! Mustangs are my thing too!
Welcome to the MHD fam!
I work retail and i see these giys alot in nightshift mornings
Im old so i take mine out the box.

Exactly! I feel the same, I open everything non Mustang, but the stangs will be cherrry
I kinda do the same with Chevy GM GMC.

It all works out...
