I began just over a year ago, unexpectedly was paid from a job with some video game stuff and anime dvds. Created an ebay account to make a few extra dollars and kept working a construction gig. Soon I saw that I if I worked harder at ebay, I was getting close to paying the bills. SO I jumped in full time pretty quick, it made me sink or swim and Im happy to say that ive gotten this far without clocking into a regular job in about 14 months. Such a grind to get it going but things have improved quite a bit and it's now more about refining everything. Thanks for the video, I appreciate it!
Congrats Matt, and thank you for sharing. I love your vids, they absolutely help a lot! I went from 10 items online to 7700 right now! I sell about 20 to 25 a day, don't make high profits, but I love it. And in the end the more you sell, the more you make, even the little ones count!

Hello from Kansas! I just found your channel and you have great information. I haven't sold on Ebay in years and I am starting again as I am helping my mom clean out her home. My oh my have things changed! Fun fact, Ebay was around 20 years ago! 😅 I was 15 and My parents and I would take their items to a little store where this woman would go through the items and list them for them. My brother finally taught us how to list from home in 2003. It was in 2002 they bought PayPal. Awesome content. Thank you!

I live in America (state of Missouri). I'm enjoying your video very much. I've only been selling on ebay for about 10 months, and I must say, you explain the starting process better than anyone I've seen. Thank you for your videos; I'll check out more of them now.
Thank you very much for being so friendly, forthcoming, and encouraging! Although I'm drawn to finding & reselling more vintage clothing, decor, and collectibles, your channel has been one of my favorites... not so much for what you are selling, but for how you approach the whole adventure and process of making your own fun and opportunities. Your generosity and good nature really come across, and watching your videos has been like having some good, welcome company - turning what can often be a solitary venture into having a different kind of "officemate," halfway across the world : )
I am so glad a TH-cam reseller actually spoke a bit of truth about ebay and income. A lot 'glamorise' it making it seem easy but it's far from easy. I've been selling on ebay for nearly 15 years. My store is large...6000 items roughly...but it is far from a full time livable income these days and I make good profit! I also have a physical shop (hospitality) so ebay is 'extra' for me but I think people need to realise that you do need a stable job with guaranteed $s coming in because if ebay teaches you anything, it's that sales are NOT guaranteed. Neither is stock especially if your sourcing from op shops, garage sales and marketplace. It's getting harder to find stock as people are becoming wiser to what items are actually worth. I have tossed up the idea of a TH-cam channel...not for income (wouldn't say no to it 😂) but just for fun. Bit of reselling, sourcing, flipping burgers...not sure anyone would want to watch but with 5 kids, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 3 cats, a burger shop and ebay...my life is far from dull! 😂 Good luck with what your doing. It obviously works for you and I hope your TH-cam/ebay only increases.
If you only pick up high sell through rate items you can make it full time and you don't need a regular job outside of ebay. Sales are guaranteed if you pick up necessities things people need and use. If they're in high or very high demand you'll sell them. But that's the key the most important thing.
25 years ago it was very possible was selling on eBay 20 years ago making a killing. Then eBay got greedy and it’s no longer worth selling on eBay with the crazy fees they charge.
Yes, the isolation is real. But if you keep your goals in mind, even listen to podcasts or music whilst listing, you do get used to it. Great video, very inspiring too! Thank you 🤩
I totally agree, freedom is happiness. I absolutely hate working for other people. They choose my timetable, they take the most money and I get some pocket money in comparison. Im starting my own business in spring and never will slave to another people again.
Selling cookie cutters here. 20c to print, sell for $11.95, clear $10 into bank. Average 1 sale a day at the moment, wondering whether to start a store or not?
I Started selling Jan this year , just to generate a bit of extra and dispose of unwanted items, I've now sold over 900 Items and doing it full time, 100% feedback , for me the greatest pleasure is repeat customers ( I sell music memorabilia ) I post almost same day if possible and take pride in my packaging and service , loving it.
Great video! I’ve been dragging feet getting ready watching learning. I saw your vid with big letters that said JUST START. I just signed a contract with myself. Here I go. Thanks!!
That's so true, I have been selling for 23 years on eBay, I used to sell expensive items but the customers aren't as trustworthy as they used to be unfortunately
It's funny how this comes up, as I've upped my selling on eBay recently and loving it - just my own stuff currently, but now I want more stuff to sell!
There is no doubt your videos helped me start a great side business on eBay for my retired parents. It’s funny because it makes me call theme everyday and we celebrate the small sales more than the big ones.
Thank you for a very realistic view of what is in store for me. I just started this process about a week ago and the content creators on the reels on Facebook are not realistic. So I’m thankful that somebody speaks the truth.
Awesome vid bro! I don't do much eBay as a Canadian from Quebec the potential profit is brutal on most items, but I am one of the rare full time Facebook Marketplace seller and I can say it really do change your life working for yourself in that field, Currently shopping to get a warehouse to start hoarding like a mad lad haha!
I'm a single father who just cracked open my closet full of 20 years of TCGs. I just listed everything I could on TCGplayer. I hope my childhood trophies can fund my children's future.
A very honest video on your life as an eBay reseller and TH-camr. Having your parents support in the beginning would have meant a lot to you and your business starting up. You’ve worked hard to get where you are and also having Courtney working for you too. So many helpful videos for anyone new to eBay or scared of the postage part to watch and learn from. Not many will share the ups and downs and also ways of working more efficiently. Thank you, Matt.
Mate, doing my own thing now with the flipping and this video has motivated me to go ahead with it. As an entrepreneur.. I work full time atm, I do love my job.. but I mean the team I work for are investors but to work for myself is my dream. Love the fact you don't give the typical "subscribe and give 30$ to a course". Well done. Anyways mate. Well done again, gonna give it myself. 😊
I think you've done a great job generally putting yourself out there, to me, that's the hardest part. I've thought of youtube but I can't seem to do it to myself. Ebay is easy compared to that! I would like to see you progress in your sourcing, find other opportunities, go outside of your comfort zone? Learn about other categories, etc. Would make for some very interesting videos. I've got a lot of advice around it if you ever want to chat.
I have been watching you now for a little bit. An from this vid i decided to take the plunge and finnaly do it. This has been my first week an I have done nearly 2k in sales. I am selling alot of my old collection of geek culture stuff. Now the wife has urged me to sell more.
You speak with a lot of humility - it isn’t easy to move back in with your parents after getting off to a “normal” start like everyone else. I like your style man - thanks for this 🤘
I started selling on eBay in 2009. At that time, I could literally list something, run to the loo, return and it was sold. But, it really depends upon what you’re selling. Also, they started using an algorithm that many feel has caused them to not sell anything. A few have found they could list things, for years and never sell them. This is also a change in the market, however. When you have more people living minimally, it can be hard to sell anything , but a brand new iPhone for $15. You just can’t get any traction. I also wonder if people are shadow banned, either by the algorithm or purposely, where you can list all you want and no one will ever see that listing. This can cause you a lot of work and wasted time and money.
Aaand another thing. Whether you start a venture on YT, eBay or anywhere else? Do t quit your job, unless you can do more than pay bills. You’ll have to be able to save and invest, afford healthcare and retirement.
"I used to shop on eBay all the time, but the inconsistencies and poor communication from sellers made it too stressful. 😓 Ditchit has been such a relief! It’s reliable, easy to use, and I always get what I expect!"
Hi yes I started marketplace too before 2020 I was watching u then. ! EBay so up and down still learning too. Great videos thanks I have learned a lot from you , your commitment and enthusiasm! Thanks again ! Sonia
Hi mate, I love the attitude. You're inspiring. I negotiated a 4 day work week this year, and that alone impacted the happiness in my life. I've recently set up an online business with the end goal of financial independence. As you say, it's the dollar outlay and the reality of the time needed to make money. I've been at a bit of a wall, and your just get going attitude is what I've needed to spur me on. Thanks for your story. There is plenty there we can all relate to. Cheers
Congrats mate. I think something you touched on there is great, you've been able to build something that allows you the flexibility you were aiming for.

Because ive always wanted to do yourube as well and VLog my journey too i. Something. I just didnt know what. I have a second hand playstation 4 here. Im making an account and selling that as my first item and ill watch and learn from your vids. Thanks so much for doing this. I dont think you realise how much your not only helping yourself. But alot of other people too. Absolutely fantastic mate
Such a good and honest video, thanks for this one! Really interesting to hear you say that you'd recommend not doing eBay full time, as I think there are many around TH-cam and social media who try sell that dream. I remember seeing some revenue targets for your store and wondering how that was even paying the rent. Not surprised that in reality it's a combo of eBay and TH-cam that pay the bills. I've gotten into a pretty good swing of doing eBay in the morning and then heading off to my full-time job, and your videos have been a massive motivation and help for that, so thank you again. Question: do you ever think about what you might do after eBay? I don't think I've got any plans to take my store full time, but eBay has given me a small taste of the "entrepreneurial" lifestyle and I find myself really loving it, even with the struggles and stresses that come attached. More than anything else, eBay has gotten me wondering "what's next?"
I think it's just a heavy focus around side hustles on TH-cam. Amazon, WhatNot if it comes - I'm not tied to eBay and I enjoy making the TH-cam videos so maybe branch out into other content ideas around making money online. I try not to think too far ahead
Only thing I ever sold on eBay was older phones I had. Do you have any videos on how to begin? For example would I go to a store and buy items on sale then flip them on eBay?
3 years on and off eBay for me took a break , started again same account last year only issue I’m having I get maybe 2-3 orders a week of I’m lucky, now I only do video games, sports clothes I tried shoes and man I’ve had a decent pay decent price on there for 2 months not sold ugh
WOW ~ Cool.. Interesting video. Thanks for all the good info.. you help a lot. Some sellers actually work from part time to full time. For instance, married couples usually progress from one eBayer & one partner in a9 to 5 job to provide a set income & Insurance, etc. They can work up to both becoming eBayers.. It depends on the goals & wants of the individuals & their goals...
I respect your hustle and the effort you’ve put in building both businesses because they are both legitimate businesses. We are entrepreneurs and it doesn’t matter how the splits end up. It’s a machine you’ve created over four years that generates your income and creates Courtney’s employment 👍 good on ya mate 🎉 happy anniversary
Thank you for your honesty I close down a neon sign business to pursue eBay full-time as I’ve been on eBay for 25 years but it is a struggle I had to shut down The Sign business so I could focus fully on eBay and restructure the whole shop we are just now after three years make an 11 but it will get better and thanks for your videos I’ve got great ideas for TH-cam would love to share them with you looking for the right guy to get a hold of me. Thanks again for another video of great insights, Matt. I've been selling on and off as a private seller on ebay for years and have 100% feedback of 128. I'm now going full steam ahead with it but wondering when is a good time to change over to an ebay store. I don't have much revenue yet of course, so store fees would send me into loss at this point. Any advice?
Thanks for the advice, I make jokes that I could turn my home into a local shop, just bc of things I’ve bought, put aside, forgot about. It’s not even going to purchase things to sell, it’s getting rid of what I’ve accumulated in 15 yrs of being in my own home! I’m at a loss on how to start and how to go about posting, getting paid, my question is, how? Thank you!
Great you mentioned a morning run for keeping fit. How fast is your 5km? (here in the UK we do Park Run events for 100-200 folk to jog/run 2-3 laps around a local park on Saturday mornings in about 30 minutes). Cheers.
@@TheAussieFlipper That's a great time. I only started running 2 years ago (I'm 50) and average 27-28mins. Great atmosphere anywhere we go for Park Run, loving it and keeps you healthy for reselling work. :) Cheers.
I make about half my income on Ebay right now and it was about 1/3rd of my income 6 months ago. For me blu-rays have been selling like crazy too and some dvds. I think in time I will be making more then what I do at work in 6 months. Only thing that are hurting my sales right now are lack of funds, or lack of time, or lack of energy to put into doing it with me working full time as well. I turns down about 80% of the times I used to buy. My best buys over the past couple months have buying 120 blu-rays for $1.50 each, also toys, and crazy rare board games. Those items i';ve already made more then my money back and everything I have left of my items from those bundled is pure profit now, I hope you grow over time to a point when .
@@YasirAbdurRehman I charge $5.00 CND for the shipping which covers the shipping and the envelope and sometimes some of the Ebay fees, I've also been getting so many of my dvds for about 50 cents to $1.00 each and i've been looking for harder to find stuff since I have around 750 dvds now listed. i haven't lsot money on them in a long time and people don't mind paying that here in Canada. Blu-rays i've been getting for about $2.00 CNd each on average and i've been selling them on average for about $7 to $20 CND or more each lately and they've been selling fast. It might help having the amount of them I have too that might help the sales. I also have 100% feedbacks right now am always quick to respond to people asking questions if i'm online at the time. I've been selling for a long time too so it helps when you have a great reputation on Ebay too to get more in funds from stuff. My suggestion if you are not making money on them is to look for stuff that's not so common and cheaper and stuff in near perfect shape or better. People love buying stuff that they don't have to worry about whether it will work or not.
It is interesting to hear you can still make decent money from TH-cam, even if the channel isn't massive. im trying to understand what the numbers would be, as far as view count and revenue.
Hi Matt, great video. Watching your channel gave me, like many others the nudge we needed to get into selling. I’m just wondering how you deal with negative or neutral feedback, which at times feels unjustified? How do you feel about the removal of being able to leave buyers neutral or negative feedback? Great score in the friends Lego set. I potentially would have tried to build it and then lost any pieces that were missing. As there doesn’t seem to be many missing and could have increased its value. Keep up the good work.
First of all Matt, OUTSTANDING standing Job and Well done. I remember when you were selling furniture and you car got stolen. I've enjoyed everything from the past 4 years. Wishing you HEALTH,WEALTH and HAPPINESS with even more adventures in 2025. I hope Kourtney is still reselling for her well being. Love to the both of you. Blessings Traci
Great video mate! would you recommend choosing a particular niche to focus on for an ebay store? or just overall look for anything to turn into profit?
I started reselling on ebay after watching your videos and do keep track of my money but one thing I am stuck on whats best to do for tax time. I write everything down on paper at the minute but tax agents have said they prefer it all done online which I have no clue how to do it. Would you recommend xero or just a standard spreadsheet?
Happy anniversary! Man, I’m so glad you randomly messaged me on IG in 2020 and asked me to check out your channel. I have LOVED watching both your eBay and TH-cam businesses take off. I always enjoy your content. Your self discipline with the business is inspiring. 🎉🎉🎉
@nicholasfairbanks7396 you can ignore almost all of it, just scan stuff you don't recognise or you know is rare. Tv shows also worth more for scanning.
Hay brother!! I am going to start selling eBay. I don’t have any investments can i sell products from ebay without investment and not even buyer as well.
Best advice I have is to speak to an accountant. I can’t comment or give advice. You’ve got to report right away. If you buy something to profit you have to report
@TheAussieFlipper I essentially buy and sell video games to buy more video games as opposed to pay bills etc. I'll report the income to my tax agent this year, but if I am doing that, should I be able to right things off as a business expense?
@@MythicVic doesn’t matter where the funds go you’re making money and in turn have expenses associated to do so which can be claimed - speak to your accountant but you’re a business my friend
The cost seem to be continually going up, yet the service doesn’t increase. I remember as a kid, the postie would come twice a day. Morning and afternoon. It often feels like I can order something from overseas quicker than it takes something to ship to Western Australia.

Your generosity and good nature really come across, and watching your videos has been like having some good, welcome company - turning what can often be a solitary venture into having a different kind of "officemate," halfway across the world : )
I started 6 weeks ago. I am never going to stop! 😅 100% all in
Yewwww you got this
Congratulations, I've started a few months ago, and I want to keep going too!
hey bro what kind of stuf do u sell, i live in germany, maybe it works here too
@ahmetyas3402 I actually sell random items bro.. it seems to work for me.
How has it gone do you recommend startin?
Good luck with what your doing. It obviously works for you and I hope your TH-cam/ebay only increases.
I’d watch that channel ;) do it do it do it ❤
thanks so much for watching!
You got this!
Congrats!!
How much money have you made?
I’m just here for your lovely Aussie voice ❤
Great video! I’ve been dragging feet getting ready watching learning. I saw your vid with big letters that said JUST START. I just signed a contract with myself. Here I go. Thanks!!
You’ve 100% got this!! Thanks for watching
I needed this vid because I’m in the process of embarking on a journey I’ve been putting off for a long time. Thanks!
happy to help at any stage!
Thankyou for talking about the challenges. That helps me to get going more than you know.
you got this!
Ebay is not what it use to be. Been on Ebay for 25 years, I lived off of it for about 5 years now you practically have to give items away.
I can see that for sure
Anything that’s good eventually gets saturated.
@@BeautifulBCHomes I think it's just a matter of pivoting. eBay can still be profitable and sustain a full time income if you want it too
That's so true, I have been selling for 23 years on eBay, I used to sell expensive items but the customers aren't as trustworthy as they used to be unfortunately
@@annejepson7462what do you mean? Like false claims of damage or non receipt?
I absolutely love your outlook and philosophy regarding life and freedom and business and finance.
I really appreciate you watching glad you got something out of it
It's funny how this comes up, as I've upped my selling on eBay recently and loving it - just my own stuff currently, but now I want more stuff to sell!
That’s so cool to hear! Keep crushing it it’s awesome to connect!
There is no doubt your videos helped me start a great side business on eBay for my retired parents. It’s funny because it makes me call theme everyday and we celebrate the small sales more than the big ones.
thanks so much for watching!
Thank you for a very realistic view of what is in store for me. I just started this process about a week ago and the content creators on the reels on Facebook are not realistic. So I’m thankful that somebody speaks the truth.
Preciate you thanks for watching and for the kind words! Best of luck
Hello from Columbia, Tennessee!!! I began watching you when you flipped furniture on FB. You’ve come a long way and are so successful!
thanks so much for watching!
I'm a single father who just cracked open my closet full of 20 years of TCGs. I just listed everything I could on TCGplayer. I hope my childhood trophies can fund my children's future.
Sounds like they might be able too!
😳 you got any of them Pokémon’s 🔥
what is tcg???
I have watched you from the beginning, good for you well done, I love your videos and your work thanks for sharing buddy 🎉🎉
thanks so much for watching!
Thank you, Matt.
thanks so much for watching!
Started selling on eBay from July. I was encouraged by your video. Thank you😊
Incredible!! Good luck!
@@TheAussieFlipper ❤️
Mate, doing my own thing now with the flipping and this video has motivated me to go ahead with it. As an entrepreneur.. I work full time atm, I do love my job.. but I mean the team I work for are investors but to work for myself is my dream. Love the fact you don't give the typical "subscribe and give 30$ to a course". Well done.
Anyways mate. Well done again, gonna give it myself. 😊
Thanks so much for watching mate!!
For sure!
I have been watching you now for a little bit. An from this vid i decided to take the plunge and finnaly do it. This has been my first week an I have done nearly 2k in sales. I am selling alot of my old collection of geek culture stuff. Now the wife has urged me to sell more.
That’s incredible! Congrats mate very stoked to hear it!
You speak with a lot of humility - it isn’t easy to move back in with your parents after getting off to a “normal” start like everyone else.
I like your style man - thanks for this 🤘
thanks so much for watching I appreciate you!
The Spicy Cough ! 😂first time heard that one
Haha it’s pretty spicy
Sonia
thanks so much for watching!
Cheers
Hope you’ve been able to make a start mate! So pleased I could impact positively in some way! Wishing you the best!
Congrats mate. I think something you touched on there is great, you've been able to build something that allows you the flexibility you were aiming for.
preciate it brother!
Always remember someone's trash is someone's treasure, stay positive and fight thru it.

Great Work Matt, you just earnt my sub. Im only 10 minutes into the video too. I will go back and watch your videos too because i needed this. Some inspiration.
Courtney seems like a super down to earth person. Killing it Courtney! :)
She is!
Only thing I ever sold on eBay was older phones I had. Do you have any videos on how to begin? For example would I go to a store and buy items on sale then flip them on eBay?
3 years on and off eBay for me took a break , started again same account last year only issue I’m having I get maybe 2-3 orders a week of I’m lucky, now I only do video games, sports clothes I tried shoes and man I’ve had a decent pay decent price on there for 2 months not sold ugh
thanks so much for watching!
Excellent video. But the Challenges section got me so fired up I had to make a response video.
Preciate you mate!
Love the message! The key is to getting started asap!!! Woo!
Good story man! Keep pushing ill sub, love your chill and realistic attitude
Thanks so much! Appreciate you being a part of the journey!!
I watch many but it’s all the same and I know how to entertain I’ve got some great ideas love to share them with you reach out

Any advice?
I think it’s time to change to a store basic is all you need
Thanks for the advice, I make jokes that I could turn my home into a local shop, just bc of things I’ve bought, put aside, forgot about. It’s not even going to purchase things to sell, it’s getting rid of what I’ve accumulated in 15 yrs of being in my own home! I’m at a loss on how to start and how to go about posting, getting paid, my question is, how? Thank you!
I’ve got multiple beginners guide videos I recommend watching those! Good luck!
Great you mentioned a morning run for keeping fit. How fast is your 5km? (here in the UK we do Park Run events for 100-200 folk to jog/run 2-3 laps around a local park on Saturday mornings in about 30 minutes). Cheers.
Love the park runs! I’m doing about 22 mins for a 5km at the moment
@@TheAussieFlipper That's a great time. I only started running 2 years ago (I'm 50) and average 27-28mins. Great atmosphere anywhere we go for Park Run, loving it and keeps you healthy for reselling work. :) Cheers.
I don’t understand the eprofit app and how it’ll allow every purchase to be a good buy?
It doesn’t allow every purchase to be a good buy. It tells you the profit. You’ve got to work out of the profit it gives you is worthwhile
So you made it! Congrats! 🎉🎉
Hi could you please recommend a good set of light-box for photos shoots? I saw you have a pair in this video. Much appreciated thanks from Australia 😊

Thank you so much ❤️
I make about half my income on Ebay right now and it was about 1/3rd of my income 6 months ago. Those items i';ve already made more then my money back and everything I have left of my items from those bundled is pure profit now, I hope you grow over time to a point when .
hey man i used to sell dvds as well but mine always go in loss because of the postage fees. How do you work around it?
The most honest answer I have heard so far. Thanks bro. 😎
Thanks so much for watching!
Hi just wanted to know where you buy your plastic tubs ? thanks
Bunnings! $7.50
Hardest part is just finding the stuff! I did $1500 my first month from stuff I had hoarded but now I can’t find enough quality.
that is a good point! one thing to know what you want to find but it's hard to actually find it at the right price!!
I just let it slide.. doesn't really bother me. You're top rated to 98% so that's all I really care about.
Blessings Traci
thanks so much for watching!
Great video mate! would you recommend choosing a particular niche to focus on for an ebay store? or just overall look for anything to turn into profit?
It’d depend on how far into the journey you are. I think inching down has its place once you’ve been at it for a while and trialled a few categories
Congratulations on four years! 👏
thanks so much for watching!
I use Xero!
Very proud of you mate.
I love listening to people's life stories.
I'm surprised you don't still deal with furniture. Is it a space issue?
Yep definitely a space issue now and I don’t have the van anymore

Hi mate, great video. I'm a few weeks into my reseller career. When it comes to DVDs is it best to just take bulk lots for cheap and not be picky?
Scan scan scan and only list +$20 ones
@TheAussieFlipper When you scan are you looking at the sell through rate too? Is this very time consuming in a large dvd section
@nicholasfairbanks7396 you can ignore almost all of it, just scan stuff you don't recognise or you know is rare. Tv shows also worth more for scanning.
Hay brother!! I am going to start selling eBay. I don’t have any investments can i sell products from ebay without investment and not even buyer as well.
best of luck!
Do you happen to have a video on the taxes and whatnot? When did you start to report it as income instead of a hobby for example.
@TheAussieFlipper thank you for the advice. I've always been super legit so will 100% report it.
Thanks for sharing - good advice!
Do you do the bidding option or just flat out buy
Buy it now only
I find the worst thing about eBay is definitely Australia Post.
The cost seem to be continually going up, yet the service doesn’t increase. I remember as a kid, the postie would come twice a day. Morning and afternoon. It often feels like I can order something from overseas quicker than it takes something to ship to Western Australia.
yepppp!
Good job mate. I'd consider filming in higher resolution for your channel !
Thank you so much for this!!! Perfect timing!
