There were a lot of payment issues, not going through. I saw comments of people waiting 7 - 12 minutes & still getting a car. Maybe it was overproduced. I've got Overdrive & don't have to stress about the stupid captcha getting stuck over & over & missing out. It's worth it to me.
Yes, the biggest glitch I encounter again and again is after the wait is over and it takes me to the payment screen, the site reboots the wait time and puts me back in line. It is so frustrating. I want to try using a different browser to see if it helps. And yes, the stupid Captcha makes me click on it 5 times. That site is really annoying, unstable, unreliable...
Not sure why anyone would pay the 100 bucks without seeing what it was like but I've never had a problem getting any in the last 4 yrs and even after overdrive I still have no problem getting any car even the most recent skyline. Very easy to get them all everytime. Be on whatever time the sale goes up and u will get one for sure
They build cars to sell to collectors..and they make a profit..because that's how the world works. 🤔 Then the people wanted more, and they get more and now people are mad🥴 Damnd if you damed if you don't. If you're in it for the collection I dont understand being upset about more.. However i do get why people are mad if they care about the $$ there worth to sale..
Honestly I still want some RLCs though still looking to buy the Porsche 958 91 M3 and and black 82 countach if you want out of the RLCs I might buy some off you
Overdrive, even with the overproduction now, still holds value as far as im concerned. Personally, I work every drop day and am never able to log in right at the time to get one. Peace of mind holds value to some, and for me, it's been great not having to worry about any of the cars I've wanted this RLC year.
I bought the overdrive specificially for the midnight purple R34, I had a 12 minute wait time on my second account and was able to grab another one. Personally I think for the $100.00 Overdrive membership price, overdrive members should get a special diecast model, maybe a limited release color or something.
Yes, we simply just handed Mattel $100. Had we known production would increase for 2024, most of would have skipped overdrive. Not numbering their production anymore should have been enough for us to clue in😢
@user-uf8xn9yq5nno they have not. You obviously aren't even a member or you would know that this isn't true. I think only one car this year has been numbered.
It's not included. It clearly states that it's only for single diecast rlc releases. Also they don't make anywhere near 10k of those sets. More like 1500
Overdrive is actually very useful. I'd say majority of people who work don't have the time to be on their phones/desktops as soon as each RLC drops then having to fight to get their order through. You might not need OD for every release, but it sure comes in handy for a handful of releases. It gives you the peace of mind knowing you'll get the RLC. Also, you have 10 accounts? Not to be an a**, but you're one of the main reasons why OD exists. lol
Now I would be overdrive member myself if I wasn't able to always log in because of my job. Also you are correct. This guy is ridiculous for even having 5 accounts. I was doing 2 accounts myself at one time so I could get one to open but I only used it a couple times so I dropped it
Yup. I'm switching to other premium brands. The RLC while making some good stuff...the forums have become a ghost town are over moderated and they don't want to hear any complaints or criticism AT ALL.... They sucked the fun right out of the club. I feel bad for the designers because they are all good guys. But everyone involved with the site maintenance, moderation, over production of the cars etc. Is KILLING the club.
I didn't have a captcha this time either. My 2 attempts at both Skylines (Advan & R34) went through with no problem. I don't have Overdrive, they were "sold out". I only want the Nissan 720 and the GMC Typhoon remaining this year. I would like more than one of those. Getting a second account is a good idea.
Hello fellow diecast TH-camr Here’s my theory: Overdrive was sold out to 10k users. Whether those users bought overdrive for multiple accounts or for one user, they sold 10k memberships. Now that’s 10k cars you know are reserved for 10k accounts. So, they know they have to make 10k above the usual 30k production limit for their cars. Then you have the ones that not a people care about, like the off road vehicles and the repaints of previous models. They can’t just guarantee everyone an RLC with the basic account because the basic membership might exceed the production number. So they were clever about it, they knew they could guarantee at least 10k and decided to capitalize on it. I think overdrive was a way to extend production but only reserve that production to the people who have overdrive. Meanwhile, the regular accounts didn’t have to worry about 10k accounts trying to score multiple cars. The skyline was a perfect example on justifying the purchase of overdrive. Even if you got 2 of them using 2 accounts, it still sold out in 30 minutes. Instead of most of the stock going to scalpers who were gonna flip it, now more people were granted a chance to get it, meaning more people bought it deflating the eBay resale value. The big so what to all of this is, RLC knew the backlash of 2023 with the pink skyline, they listened to us about production numbers, they realized that they were not making profit by making low production numbers, so they capitalized on it by making 10k more vehicles but they needed to justify it, that’s why overdrive was created. So with 10k accounts out of the way, this gave regular accounts a bigger chance to get a slice of that pie. So everyone wins.
I actually like that idea; drain money from rich collectors while fulfilling demand for everyone, second market is normal and scalpers will not be so hesitant to set up bots for RLC drops. Mattel makes money while fixing second market
Overdrive was totally worth it to me. I tend to be at work and in the middle of something when the drops happen. I often can’t get to my phone or a computer until it’s too late.
I believe they are producing more, especially when all of the cool ones are not numbered. I did not get the overdrive I passed on it and so far I have been successful with all of the cars that I wanted and the quantity that I wanted. I know a lot of my friends passed on the overdrive also and they have been able to get everything they wanted also. The overdrive is good for those who are unable to get on their phone and get it or may forget about it. One thing I know for sure is at least you are guaranteed 1 of each car.
Also they are not numbering hardly any of them like they used to. The pink skyline last year with the computer problem got everyone mad!..I guess what I’m saying is not numbering like they used to hurt the sales I think. It wasn’t until they almost stopped numbering is when the cars on rlc got easier to get! Just look at how many are still up to buy! On Mattel site.
I do like the stress-free RLC experience for a busy working man. Does seem like they are doing VERY few numbered cars and have just upped the production... Does seem like we got dooped
10:58: What you should have said is, "Overdrive is just a LIE, in order to BOOST DEMAND." Mattel does it all the time. But don't worry, your Overdrive account will be needed later this year when Mattel realizes that they need to convince the customers who bought it of its worth. That's when they will reduce production for some sought after release. ... Well, they'll reduce production for a little while, but never fear, that car will become available again later in the year.
I had a 9 min wait time and was able to get my pre-order confirmed. I think with this one being a 3 month pre-order, they left the order count open for 15 minutes.
I must be the luckiest man ever. I have 1 account and didn't miss any of the r34s It's been like 4 or 5 years since a 3 minute wait time meant not getting something. The fastest sell out in the past couple of years was the nismo r34 and it was like 8 minutes
I was on there at the moment they went on sale, added one to my cart and then had the 12 minute wait. by the time it got to zero they were all sold out. Very disappointed as it was 1:30am here in Australia..
So far Overdrive is worth it to me. But, I’m definitely questioning it. I’m not available to order cars most of the time. The only downside to Overdrive, for me, is that I forget to cancel some of upcoming sales , and have ended up with a-lot of cars I don’t want. So factoring in that expense, I’m basically overpaying. So with that said would I be better off just buying the cars I want on the secondary market? I guess that would depend on how many cars I actually wanted each year, and how many cars I end up with that I don’t want. So far, I consider Overdrive nothing more than a convenience fee.
Their site has more glitches than any other site I have ever purchased from. I get glitches more often than not. I was able to get 1 Nissan with 3 accounts because the site kept kicking me out of payment page and putting me back in waiting line. Yes, they sold out in about 15 minutes.
I watched the timer 5 minutes prior to starting I went to checkout within 30 seconds of the timer starting and still got hit with a 15 min wait time first try. Ended up watching the car get sold out in the last minutes. Was annoyed to hear so many people got them with multiple accounts.
I was in the waiting room with both accounts within a minute of the drop and it put me at 5 and 7 minute waits and I was so scared. But I did got both. The only other rlc I’m scared about right now is the new Supra they’re doing. First one with the targa top that one seems like it’ll be hard to get
Oooor because of Overdrive there are a few hundred less people actually going for the drop, clearing up traffic at drop time and allowing others to snag one
Idk how long you have been around but the membership use to cost way more the $10 dollars, So a $100 guarantee isn’t bad , that $100 will pay for its self in hitting the aftermarket menu.
I had a 9 minute wait and still got it. Thought for sure it was over. Glad I didn’t go with overdrive 😂. I knew it was not worth it with a decent connection. They must have made a crap ton of r34
Ten accounts. You have ten people on each computer? I guess you're fast. Overdrive was worth it. I don't have to stess. Stress is a killer. And why do you want to buy ten? Kind of unfair to the rest of the collectors who want one too.
I believe RLC overdrive folks need to band together and basically force mattel hotwheels franchise to make special exclusive gifts throughout the year… Possibly through the utilization of the forum… the over drive membership needs to be something thats rewarding and separates than an entry level membership. Like if you get this RLC die cast you get an over drive free with purchase alternate same die cast with deco, different paint color, demo production, or zamac variant…. There is nothing enticing about the over drive membership other then mindlessly purchasing and securing a mass produced die cast now.
When I tried to get to get in to start the process of buying the sit crashes. I had to re login and then I got put in a 8 minute wait just for me not to be able to purchase the car because it sold out.
Same thing happened to me so I had to sign back in but I got hit with a 10 min wait but was still able to get it. The problem is the ones who have multiple accounts
Fr? Im a 100% honest i waited 16min and got one on my phone on lunch. I knew they are hard to get one but still now hearing about it its more than hard.
I like your analogy of buying 10 memberships instead of 1 Overdrive. Of course, lots of Overdrive members are more than happy to have the insurance for many reasons and that’s fine. I was initially concerned that basic members would get the shaft on high demand vehicles, but I suspect you’re right about overproduction. It’s a business. Why wouldn’t they make more money to meet the demand? Also, I have to correct you when you said you bought your Overdrive membership at the beginning of the year. It was March (15th). And it will expire December 31st. So it’s not even an annual membership. It’s 9 months. Also, I knew and publicly predicted this Skyline would be easy to secure as long as you get in during the 1st 10 minutes. It was actually 14 minutes. Pre-order with 3 full months of production time was the clue.
Where r/WallStreetBets meets diecast, apparently. Mattel was always going to come out the winner in this program. The opportunity was there for them to benefit from Overdrive subs and the nearly guaranteed sales to satisfy them. If your shiny toy car loses relative value thanks to higher production numbers, you still have the toy car. Why is mere possession of the shiny desired thing not enough? January 2025 will sure be interesting. What would Mattel's response be if a large swath of Overdrive subs are not renewed? How long would it take for production numbers to shrink back to pre-Overdrive times? Getting my popcorn ready
In my opinion, it is that of course Mattel was going to increase production due to the overdriver, it cannot give an advantage to those people who would be willing to pay the 100 dollars for that, they have to increase production, it is common sense, and for your question, is it worth it? shame or not? It depends on your point of view if you don't want to stress or if you're busy, well, yes, it's convenient, but if you bought it just to say, I'm sure it will sell quickly and was my investment of 100 dollars worth it? you are completely wrong
I do collect my fair share of Hotwheels but it’s not my main diecast when it comes to collecting anymore. There are other brands out there that do a better job these days with the casting when it comes to details and realism and are easily to find online 🤷🏼 Awesome content as always 🔥🤘🏻💀🤘🏻🔥
Would the overdrive allow its users to buy the sth cases thet theu do towards the end of the year? I mean that could make it possibly worth while? Anyways...
No. Overdrive is only for the single car releases. They only make like 1500 of those sth sets so it wouldn't be possible anyway without making a whole lot more. To me though that would change the value tremendously if it did include the sth and master set
I dont have overdrive & got one (11 minutes of wait time) even though i dont really want or need it! 😂😂 I only collect camaros! I guess it will be a trade piece.
Wait let me understand this.. I paid for the rlc membership 9.99 then i pay for the over drive 99.99 and then do i have to pay for each drop too or is it included in the overdrive?
It’s just business y’all. If known demand is 75k+ units, why would Mattel only produce 30-50k? There’s a lag in increasing production to meet demand, but make no mistake that every company seeks to produce only as much as they can sell. Same with Pokémon.
Nah that thing still sold out pretty fast though, I think it’ll still be more desirable than the pink one just because midnight purple is an actual skyline color
ISO badly Wanted that optimus prime yesterday and I didn't get it because I was working.Looks like i'm gonna have to pay the overpriced just to get one
I’ve said all along RLC Overdrive is a money grab. I didn’t sign up and still get cars. Now they will over produce, which makes the value go down and RLC gets richer.
Its a bot service run by Mattel. You wonder why they never did anything about bots? It drove up the need for a service such as overdrive where again mattel could collect money and not actually provide anything tangible.
For many? Overdrive would be a waste of $100. In my case? My schedule misses the drops. While many did not sell out quickly, the few I really want, do sell out quickly. For myself, I can justify Overdrive.
I don't have an Overdrive account, but I do have 3 regular accounts and I was able to get three R34's with no issues. I had to wait 5 mins on one account, 6 mins on the 2nd account and 11 mins on the 3rd account.
Mattel screwed you twice, once on overdrive, once on not actually needing it. Isn't hard to pick up any now the production numbers have been increased (45k on the r34). Only challenge is the mainline and sth set but overdrive doesn't include those!
I’m just a normal guy who collects what I like, buys what I think is cool and will sell to those in need… You said you got 10 accounts? I don’t understand that what the need for so many. 1 or 2 and call it a day.
So I pay 10 to join the rlc group. They sell cars on this exclusive site that I am a member of. They don’t make enough cars for all those loyal members to buy on top of this we are now able to give them an extra 100 to secure each car. Ya that’s not right. A member should be able to have access to each and every car. If the 10 is not enough for your greed then make the membership fee higher.

I wasn’t able to get one. 😢
Got overdrive- but only mange to get 1 more extra on other accounts then it sold out.
I was not able to get a nd one sold out before i checked out
beautiful exotics
I think the skyline was worth the overdrive. Many people had payment issues and log in issues.
I think it is worth paying the $100 up front to not fight the crowds to try and check out, without any guarantee to get the car I want.
I was at work walking the campus on company wifi and somehow hit too. I saw 6mins and for sure thought I was gonna miss but I got one as well… 👊
I dont have overdrive & got one (11 minutes of wait time) even though i dont really want or need it! 😂😂 I only collect camaros! I guess it will be a trade piece.
Another great and informative video 💪🏼
I had 15 minutes in the checkout line, but I got one car.
Wait let me understand this.. I paid for the rlc membership 9.99 then i pay for the over drive 99.99 and then do i have to pay for each drop too or is it included in the overdrive?
Yes
you will get all drops for free
@@AKATSUKIFUlol don't lie to that man 😂
I got a 10 min queue and i got it
Hmm so maybe between your 10 minute wait and my 12 minute wait, there was a cutoff
Glad you got it though 👍
Very cool video diecash cars
It’s just business y’all. If known demand is 75k+ units, why would Mattel only produce 30-50k? There’s a lag in increasing production to meet demand, but make no mistake that every company seeks to produce only as much as they can sell. Same with Pokémon.
Btw I said that on your overdrive video. Quantity had to go up
Nah that thing still sold out pretty fast though, I think it’ll still be more desirable than the pink one just because midnight purple is an actual skyline color
ISO badly Wanted that optimus prime yesterday and I didn't get it because I was working.Looks like i'm gonna have to pay the overpriced just to get one
Yeah, they've already gone up $70+ in value even though it's been a day
I’ve said all along RLC Overdrive is a money grab.
You buy 100$ toy hot wheels going bad Right now. i like your video good job 🏎💨
For many? Overdrive would be a waste of $100. In my case? My schedule misses the drops. While many did not sell out quickly, the few I really want, do sell out quickly. For myself, I can justify Overdrive.
I got so lucky with my r34. They all sold out in 18 mins😂
I don't have an Overdrive account, but I do have 3 regular accounts and I was able to get three R34's with no issues. I had to wait 5 mins on one account, 6 mins on the 2nd account and 11 mins on the 3rd account.
10 min wait with 1 bar and got it 😅 #dontbejealous
I mean yeah you just gave $100 to daddy Mattel to put in their back pocket.
Thanks to the suckers who paid $100, Mattel was able to pump up production 😂😂😂 thanks guys! 🍻
Haha. Hilarious ..😂
Overdrive = Overshafted 😅
Mattel screwed you twice, once on overdrive, once on not actually needing it. Isn't hard to pick up any now the production numbers have been increased (45k on the r34). Only challenge is the mainline and sth set but overdrive doesn't include those!
I’m just a normal guy who collects what I like, buys what I think is cool and will sell to those in need…
You said you got 10 accounts? I don’t understand that what the need for so many.
1 or 2 and call it a day.
So I pay 10 to join the rlc group. They sell cars on this exclusive site that I am a member of. They don’t make enough cars for all those loyal members to buy on top of this we are now able to give them an extra 100 to secure each car. Ya that’s not right. A member should be able to have access to each and every car. If the 10 is not enough for your greed then make the membership fee higher.
I was able to get 9 R34’s without a bot nor Overdrive
$100 1YR For nothing.. not even RLC With the subscription should be include as THANK YOU Nope NOTHING
anyone else get their order canceled?
Overdrive is a SCAM people. Even the two hardest to get most people got them. They suckered 10k people ....😂
I sure hope you wasted all of your money
Overdrive was a scam
It's all garbage
Why would anyone think that the Overdrive was for the customers' benefit? Seriously?
