You jest now, but when you and your other 4 besties are packed into the car after a night clubbing and outright drunk, you'll want that car selfie to post to instagram to show how interesting your life is!
In all seriousness, if BMW collected all the money from developing such useless tech for their cars over the years, they'd have the funds for a reliability department

It will get a lot of flack, but after al those iX, i7 and X7 and 1 series, I think it looks better than expected. The nose isn't complete hamster-teeth and there isn't a two part headlight. Inside is nice, and I just miss the 8 presets-buttons and some other physical buttons instead of another touchcontrol thingy!
If leather is out, maybe velour could make a comeback for a more silent and dampened effect in the car.

Sad days for bmw design department. We are at a point where we need to feel happy that a new design is not as ugly as we thought it will be.

@@tatoo99999 that’s true, but looking back it was mostly the case for the fiver. After the E28, imho the real 5 series car, the next one was too bloated, the E39 was good, maybe to rounded. The E60 was really badly received, those headlights and tail were really bad, and don’t forget I-Drive. . Last one was better received.
@@JJVernig E39 is the best of all-time, than arguably E28.
She speaks of cars so nicely that you could be convinced an ugly Nissan jukes look as cool as rolls royce ghost
Except Rolls Royce Ghost is an ugly car bought self centered old white men who think they're cool.
To be honest it looks dated already. The current 5 Series looks nicer. This is too bulky and the interior doesn't seem any more luxurious than a G42 2 Series.

BMW design team needs a major overhaul in staff, they used to be top of the food chain when it came to design, this looks underwhelming

A bit of GM/Holden Commodore in that fascia. Thin C-pillar and sleek trunk makes it look more compact.
You just got to love that wonderful dashboard, or should I call it a fancy kitchen top with a long I pad on top of it like an afterthought. So much progress:)

See so many 1/2/3/4 series drivers with their phones in their hand I get why the selfie camera isn’t on those models. I guess the 5 series driver is a tad more mature so BMW have considered them and their selfie needs…
So if the M60 is this powerful, the M5 will surely be bonkers quick!
What is the reason for all buttons being moved into the screen?? Is it cost-cutting? Is it purely for a minimalist design? I know manufacturers have been doing this for a while now but I still dont understand it. Send help
Being an owner of the current gen BMW 530e and I was curious about the new model but I really don’t like it 😔. The front doesn’t look as aggressive and the profile looks too soft compared to all previous model. I can definitely see the similarity to the i7 in regards to the rear of it.
What’s your electric only range like and mpg?
@@ELITESMOK3Y the car is tuned to 400bhp at the crank and 660nm and on electric only i get around 30km. L/100 i get about 5 to 6L.
@@Mr_Sentoo You are right 1st disappointment The new M2 Head and tail lights... Then they messed with the loving 5 series i thought the iX is a different category but they are simply messing up day n day after.
this definitely doesn't look worse than the G30, I like this. And the interior is lightyears ahead of the G30.
I hope the option to remove the "5" lowers the cost a bit.
The back looks nice, but the front from every angle reminds me of the 2 series grancoupe...

This is meant to be a long, mid size saloon with good proportions... Ugh, feel like bmw losing their touch and as a 2019 530d owner, is disappointing to say the least...
Yes exactly! Something about the proportions looks wrong. 2 Series Gran Coupé (which is basically a MINI Clubman) is not a "proper" BMW in any sense. There's not much BMW-like about this i5 either

Man. They went from the beautiful design of the 3-series and the X5 to…. This. Tbh, I thought it looked better when it was in that camouflage paint.

In true BMW fashion, the exterior is a step backwards. The bonnet is too high, making the front wheels look small and the headlights are too high. This gives it a fwd 2 series look.
It’s not a total home run, but looks better than many recent BMWs and quite handsome in the grey paint. I would definitely buy over a Tesla or EQE. Mercedes EV sedans are a complete design disaster. I’m very keen to see what Audi, Lexus and Genesis come out with in terms of sport sedans. 7 used to be my favorite mainstream sedan, but with the new 7 being a monstrosity, I prefer the 340 or this new 5.
Obviously the camera is to track the face when auto-steering is activated. if you look anywhere other than the road it beeps at you & sometimes deactivates. the selfie is just a feature.
I love it when a car beeps at me for ever more creative reasons
If they want to get the drop on Mercedes Benz they need to make this i5 into a hatchback/lifeback and not as the Mercs similar sized car, the EQE which is booted.
And especially if Audi's 6 series EV is going to be an estate car.

I think this 5 series is the 'cherry on top' when it comes to make it clear that BMW suck nowadays. Too bad we're gonna have to feel nauseous for 8 years in a row while spotting all the new series.

Beautiful car and sexy indeed. Only issue is the clowns at the dealership jacking the price up and having no idea how this car works. Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, and Polestar it is I guess...

5 series looks better while e class needs to improve more due to design, fuel consumption and power

I was thinking of trading my beautiful 2018 Genesis G80 sports for this BMW i5 but but 1. Second row leg space is small 2. It is missing the beauty look compared to MB and Audi 3. I don't want to miss my paparazzi treatment with my Genesis. 4. Back seat cuddle and chill is missing, I mean how do we bend over and angle the right way with my babe?

$30,000 batteries will keep it a lease vehicle unless they give up a far longer warranty for those batteries and other expensive parts.
I love this no non-sense design and appeal of a electric 5 series. It looks certainly way better than Mercedes EQS or whatever.
