The base model is $85,000. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. People always compare Lucid to Tesla, but they are in totally different markets. Tesla wants to unseat Toyota and VW as the worlds biggest. Lucid wants to sell cars to the customers who buy premium European cars today.
Indeed while we've been reading about "Tesla killers" for the past half dozen or more years, that never seemed to materialize, Lucid has positioned itself since the unveiling as wanting to go after the premium car market, not convince Tesla owners to change EVs. Interestingly, despite that there's a clear market for Tesla owners whose cars were relatively new when the Air was unveiled, who were sure at the time that their next car would be a Tesla, who are now looking at Lucid. What's missing from Lucid that Tesla owners notice is that Tesla is way ahead on ADAS and we've seen the "it's coming" line too many times. Amazing product, very high tech and I can see why the company are compared to something like apple it seems they have very high standards and demand. Everything seems super high quality!
The front of that white Lucid looks exactly like the 5 gen. (T180) Toyota Celica. I mean to the point of all out thievery. But the 5th gen Celica is my favorite Celica bodystyle.
Great review and the most in-dept I have watched on Lucid Air so far. That said, the car is still a little too rich for my blood "right now" 😉but I will keep watching. Thanks, and God bless,
Lucid has strong funding and support from the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund that has almost bottomless wealth. Additionally, the Saudi’s are playing the long game with Lucid, having them build Lucid manufacturing plants in Saudi Arabia to train Saudi engineers in the complex technologies and skills required to manufacture quality automotive products. Lucid is top heavy in the engineering skills department for all of the important criteria, vehicle suspension dynamics, aerodynamics, drivetrain design and aesthetics. I just hope that people are able to understand just how brilliantly advanced and high quality the Lucid vehicles are and support their growth by taking a chance and purchasing a Lucid vehicle to enjoy for themselves.
Beautiful and well engineered car. Good alternative to the niche supercars out there and the Taycans of this world. Will only ever be a small volume niche car though and if I was them I’d keep it that way and stay in that lane. Wouldn’t have a hope competing with Tesla for the volume market as they are too far ahead, but as an expensive performance car one of the best.
love the channel btw.. i saw this video about a month ago so i went and test drive one of the gt versions and i will say it is very nice and a ton of features but the blind spots drove me nuts and i just can't justify the price. i have a Model 3 LR now and it was about a 1/3 of the cost for it even after the upgrades i have done. the stereo that is soo great doesn't even have sub so very disappointed there and it was really laggy on the os but had very nice displays that need to be a little positioned better .. the front screen is nice but the steering wheel makes it hard to see.. over all if cheaper i would switch but the charging network is another down fall..if the range is what they say, that is a very good selling point too but i doubt it is near what they say just like my tesla

I've only seen 4 Lucid Airs on the road in Atlanta, GA. 2 with flat tires on the roadside, waiting for assistance, and one just this week at a Discount Tire Store in the Atlanta Suburb of Alpharetta, after a repair. The car is gorgeous. I would love to have one, one day. I love your approach to the introduction of EVs. I wonder how folks in the Caribbean are handling the idea of EVs
The Air offers kids a dream EV, after a Tesla Model S. Most low 20 years olds I know dream of an S Plaid, but for me, the interior of the Air offers something more pleasing. (Am a Tesla fan BTW and own a Y LR, that is awesome, but if I was loaded, I would have the top spec Air as the weekend car for long trips and use the Y for commuting and shlopping.)
Rather have a polestar 4 or gv70 2024
@@DeterminedFC I love that Polestar too, but that Lucid Air has some serious shoulder room for the large North American
The are heavy cars. Can’t handle potholes (not that any car can, especially with large rims and lower profile tires).
lucid air sapphire 1200 hp 0 to 100 1.99. Ford Mustang cobra jet 1400 hp 0 to 100. 2.3s
I have this vehicle but in the blue and I must say that it’s well worth the price tag.
Can you just imagine a Lucid at half the price of the Air? That car would be amazing and then it could finally compete against Tesla.
That won’t be happening ever, lucid is bleeding money
Idc what anybody says, This car is Gorgeous. No doubt the best looking EV interior out there.
The battery pack is 118kWh, it has always been a bit secret and ambiguous - not the 113kWh you quote (old specs)
Lucid rocks🔥🔥
I really hope these stick around. I really do want one. I’ve heard nothing but solid reviews about it.
Rory, you are spectacular!!!
I'm happy for friends arrival and his company's revival
That face @3:36, especially with the blacked out trim, reminds me of an early 90’s Celica.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO LUCID✨️ FAMILY ❤️🙋♂️🥳🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🕺🕺🕺😉👍
Will this ever come to Europe? Beautiful and Elegant review. Nice one Rory
Already showrooms in a few countries like netherlands and norway so yeah.
They are in France and Germany too
All these cars are great. Can't wait for Lexus to finally put out a performance EV so we can have build quality and luxury in a single package.
I saw one of these in New Jersey yesterday looked beautiful and anything that leads to more competition in the market is good
Amazing product, very high tech and I can see why the company are compared to something like apple it seems they have very high standards and demand.
Thanks, and God bless,
You are a great car reviewer alway class in your videos keep up the great work my friend and you style of dress is cool and laidback
Can't wait for these to arrive in the UK
I love Rory
You are analystical and master it quite well
Does America have something against decent panel fit?
Always top videos. This one didn't fail.
I love the looks, this is impressive for a newish company.
Way better looking than the Tesla.
@@nirbhayatiwari5425 cover the judge by the book
Well the owner used to work for Elon and started his own company to compete against Tesla.
I would take this car over any other car The lucid air is the best car if you have the money.
He’s simply the best
Beautiful and well engineered car. Good alternative to the niche supercars out there and the Taycans of this world. Will only ever be a small volume niche car though and if I was them I’d keep it that way and stay in that lane. Wouldn’t have a hope competing with Tesla for the volume market as they are too far ahead, but as an expensive performance car one of the best.
Delighted to see somebody take on fElon Muskrat…..
love the channel btw.. i saw this video about a month ago so i went and test drive one of the gt versions and i will say it is very nice and a ton of features but the blind spots drove me nuts and i just can't justify the price. i have a Model 3 LR now and it was about a 1/3 of the cost for it even after the upgrades i have done. the stereo that is soo great doesn't even have sub so very disappointed there and it was really laggy on the os but had very nice displays that need to be a little positioned better .. the front screen is nice but the steering wheel makes it hard to see.. over all if cheaper i would switch but the charging network is another down fall..if the range is what they say, that is a very good selling point too but i doubt it is near what they say just like my tesla
The Key fob could have trunk and frunk buttons and unlock/ Lock buttons. Other Cars have that benefit it seems easily solved.
After owning a tesla and selling after only 2 years owning it looking at the Lucid sapphire for next car didn't care for the tesla after few months driving it so looking forward to Lucid new model
Nice video keep up the good work
4:27 this is funny 😂
He should have tested the lucid sapphire edition which is the fastest one
Competition is healthy. Very nice car
Those panel gaps were atrocious, no other word for it... beautiful car with killer performance though....it left the stang in another time zone.
One thing very exciting about lucid is that it's motors and battery tech will go into future aston martins.
PLEASE AUTO TRADER DO A REVIEW ON THE LUCID SAPPHIRE WHEN IT COMES OUT THIS YEAR THANK YOU! SIR FOR AN AMAZING REVIEW ON THE LUCID 👏👏😁😉👍WELL DONE.🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🕺🕺❤️🙋♂️
Lucid makes the best EVs on the market
Lucid Air Grand Touring + my future dream car = only if a miracle happens & $MNKD hits 35 price per share.
you notice he never mentions price for good reason,
