Excellent presentation! If find it personally very hard to analyze the “beauty” of the 911 because I have loved them for so many decades. Its looks are “iconic.” And by that I mean I can’t analyze the curves, or shape objectively in any sense, it is just a “911,” and they have always been amazing to contemplate (especially the thrill of the mid-70’s turbo)…the looks are intertwined inexorably with the whole experience. The interior and the technology user interface on the Roma is garbage, just plain and simple…garbage. With regards to price you will never ever see a Roma at the price you quoted. Options are insanely expensive and just a modicum of options (ones most owners would consider essential and not flamboyant) will make it more expensive than the 911 Turbo S. I think it is curious you mention that perhaps it would have been more “fair” to compare the Roma to the 911 Turbo (rather than the S) when the price differential was essentially the same on either side of the Roma (+/- 10K pounds). Why? The comparison to the 911 Turbo S is perfectly appropriate, and in fact as mentioned the Porsche is still cheaper than the Ferrari. You ultimately chose the Ferrari for the same reason so many do…the emotional magic of the Ferrari brand is king, and has been for decades. Objectively their cars are not superior to many of their competitors, but none of their competitors have that magical prancing horse on the bonnet.
"The interior and the technology user interface on the Roma is garbage"? I strongly disagree; the interior looks fantastic and is highly customizable in terms of color options (you can also spec it with dual color), stitching, materials, seats and other details. There's an online configurator you can use to explore the many available options. The infotainment interface could indeed have been better but, really, who cares?
Objectively their cars Are superior in their class, from the 430 and 458 to the 296 and sf90. Also the Turbo s is essentialy a car that is aimed at comfort and speed while the Roma although a Gt car is more made for driving dynamics. But i agere with you on the beauty of 911’s.
@@zix_zix_zix Well, we can agree to disagree then. Their digital interface has no place in a Ferrari IMO. The iPad-like tablet in the center console looks as though it were designed in an elementary school art class. As far as the rest of the leather, etc., it is the standard Ferrari stuff which means it is nice but not particularly special. I have been an owner of numerous Ferraris and currently have a 458 and an 812GTS. Have you ever spent any time in an Aston, Bentley or Rolls? Now those interiors are indeed special.
@@tobiasjtaule8867 When it comes to being “objective” the only true objective measure of a sports car is track time standardized by using same driver, same track, and same tires (preferably on same day testing). You can look up track times online easily, ie: Big Willow. Just recently there is a video containing lap times in France at Nevers Magny-Cours Club, same driver and tires listed (easily searchable on TH-cam). You know which car consistently kicks Ferrari’s butt on track after track? The “lowly” Corvette Z06. Ferrari’s for many many years are not the top dogs performance wise at any track in the world. In addition, when it comes to reliable, usable, and exhilarating club racing events the cars that dominate are Porsche 911, Corvette, BMW, and of course the Mazda Miata. The reason for buying a Ferrari is the pure emotion the brand brings, and unfortunately increasingly the status symbol (especially in our social media driven world).
@@Rob02138 I am not a fan of the infotainment screens either - particularly when they stick out like a tablet. I am afraid this is the trend of the days though and literally every manufacturer installs them on their cars nowadays. Obviously, these systems are going to be completely outdated in a few years, no matter how cleverly you have managed to incorporate it into your interior (like Bentley do with their rotating system). Moreover, I can appreciate the plushness and the rich materials in a Bentley or Rolls but I would not want something like that in a Ferrari (especially in mid engine models). It's just a different feeling and sensation. I believe that Ferrari have worked very hard to offer the driver EXACTLY the feeling and sensation needed for their cars - obviously this is not just a matter of materials and interior design but a combination of every single part, the noise, the stiffness, the dimensions etc. Congrats for owning those great cars btw :)
Porsche has never been a trophy car- its for someone with fine taste and appreciation for superlative engineering and to add the indulgence for absolute tearaway driving. BTW, lovely presentation by Alex- she's so amazing and with Rory, probably one of the best automotive duo on the planet. Heart broke knowing she's married and has kids 🤣 Just kidding!

Neither are affordable for 99.9% of us. They're both fantastic and pointless in equal measures. I would take the Roma. I've owned 3 Porsche's and while they handle great, the looks of a Porsche leave a lot to be desired. The Roma has the edge, even if its slower and not as practical.
Great review. For close to £200,000, I’d want something that feels, looks and sounds special. The Turbo S is a fantastic car that is blisteringly quick - but it sounds, looks and feels similar inside to a Carrera. I would have this porsche every time, now a second hand 488 might be a harder decision. I consider myself to pretty proficient behind the wheel on the road or track, but some monied talentless driver could get themselves in a lot of trouble with cars like this, maybe the manufactures should introduce a voluntary driving course for cars of a certain performance with insurance benefits to keep road users safer and teaching the drivers of these cars to enjoy them more😊

Such a good work!!
From the side and back the Roma looks like a Jaguar.
Yes I agree !!!!!
How this channel is so underrated is so unbelievable 😮
For a normal non race car driver the Ferrari badge would be hard to resist… as long as it wasn’t your only car.. (pole today for Charles 🏎️🏎️) 😎
Great review well done.

Well, we can agree to disagree then.

When it comes to being “objective” the only true objective measure of a sports car is track time standardized by using same driver, same track, and same tires (preferably on same day testing).
Waiting on the power between 3 & 6000, rpm in my old school book you call that lag, so when you're waiting to get going, the Porsche has already gone
Porsche has never been a trophy car- its for someone with fine taste and appreciation for superlative engineering and to add the indulgence for absolute tearaway driving. BTW, lovely presentation by Alex- she's so amazing and with Rory, probably one of the best automotive duo on the planet. Heart broke knowing she's married and has kids 🤣 Just kidding!
what do you consider a trophy car

have been seeing plenty of Roma's around London this last few months. Its the Ferrari for those who want to be more 'subtle'...the rest of the range are all full bling, so can see why this is doing well...
I definitely go for engineering and practical thought.
- Therefore I go Porsche ❤️
I think I'll choose the one that you'll choose. I trust your judgment
I love that Bordeaux leather interior in the 911 Turbo, I have a Panamera Turbo S e-hybrid Sport Turismo with black and Bordeaux leather. And I also have a Roma, I daily drive the Panamera because it's incredibly practical as for the Roma we take it out on special occasions.
Great review Alex, Roma or Turbo S........Turbo S for me, everyday british day super car.
Neither are affordable for 99.9% of us. They're both fantastic and pointless in equal measures.
I'd personally have the 911 out of the 2, but in a world of financial crisis and wars, they look a bit silly to my eyes.
There's plenty of sports cars that will give you just as many thrills for less. Lotus emira for example
Great review. Having both 911 and Roma, I agree with the final assessment. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either…
Great review Alex. I'd take the Roma 🔥
Gotta love the aerodynamic forehead.. a staple to all great presenters.
You see... There are positives to it 😊

You are cool AF, your voice is mesmerizing and absolutely and beyond any doubt super gorgeous. More content please!
Proper paddles on that Ferrari and they look beautiful. The downshift noise is music! Porsche is the physics professor while the Ferrari is the Orchestra conductor. Both fine cars.
Roma gives vibe of a Maserati...
That Roma is like a rare never to be seen again wine ❤
I'm not really a Porsche guy, but 911 100%.
Unless I can sell the Ferrari without getting sued
I would take the Roma. I've owned 3 Porsche's and while they handle great, the looks of a Porsche leave a lot to be desired. The Roma has the edge, even if its slower and not as practical.
What question is that? 911 all day every day.
How are these two even compared?? A track/drag focused car against a GT?
What's the narrative here?
First time I've seen a Roma in another other than Red and it looks 10x better in White. I'd take it over the Porsche.
Looks amazing in dark green.
Tough choice is money is no object. But the Roma is more romantic with a lot more sensations in it.
Don’t love the 992 at all. I’ll take the Roma!
Fun is everything. No need for outright speed.
Great review. For close to £200,000, I’d want something that feels, looks and sounds special. The Turbo S is a fantastic car that is blisteringly quick - but it sounds, looks and feels similar inside to a Carrera. At the end of the day I’d be happier with a Roma + a base Carrera as a daily than a Turbo S + another sporty daily.
But you do realize that with a turbo s you wouldn't require a sport daily. The turbo s is supposed to be your sport daily.
@@prathamkamath8280 My point is that for £180k, the Turbo isn’t special enough to either be your only car or your weekend car
Is AutoTrader editing their videos with additional exhaust sounds😮. There were a host of mismatching sounds in the vid.
I would have this porsche every time, now a second hand 488 might be a harder decision. I consider myself to pretty proficient behind the wheel on the road or track, but some monied talentless driver could get themselves in a lot of trouble with cars like this, maybe the manufactures should introduce a voluntary driving course for cars of a certain performance with insurance benefits to keep road users safer and teaching the drivers of these cars to enjoy them more😊
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 I couldn't agree with you more. Way too easy to obtain an insanely fast car these days, more often than not piloted by someone who's enthusiasm far exceeds their ability.
@@armoris66 well said, thought I was the only one who thinks this when watching a badly driven supercar taking the wrong lines through corners or cutting everyone up and then getting left for dead when the road involves more technical bends😊
@@iandavies1893 🤣 Too true! Nothing more satisfying than hanging onto the rear of a high powered German saloon in my people carrier, through the twisty stuff or in my younger days, disappearing down the road in my reasonably priced hot hatch. Happy days a plenty! 😂🤣
