    Thanks for this. I found wedges and washers of hair and dirt all over the unit. Spot on for making this video.

    Brilliant info. Stripped back my head and it's working better than ever. Just make sure you get the correct alignment when putting the connections back on the motor. Suggest putting a marker pen line on the casing before unscrewing.

    This was the exact problem with our ancient V6. Thanks! All I needed was to get add a Torx bit set to my tools for the T7 - all I had was a T10. Many thanks!

    Thanks for a very good demonstration! This was the exact issue with our V6. I got as far as taking off the bits from the back but could not get past taking off the bits at the top of the brush head. Now I know it is possible and so easily possible, I should have the problem fixed; I now have the very distinct possibility of NOT throw away our V6!

    Three comments
    1, great content, my bearing seal was still in place but once popped off bearing was full of hair. Cleaned/greased and refitted cover. SORTED!
    2, You kept wandering out of frame. Check framing and mark the limits on your work surface (preferably not carpet)
    3, get some Sinex or something. I always use some decongestant before public speaking.
    Thanks for the info, saved me about £50 for a new motor head.

    Had exactly the same problem. Follows you instructions and it's great again. Can't believe how much hair was in the bearing. Thanks for a good visit. My Dyson DC 59.is 9 years old still in the same battery which will do 15 mins still, fine for my little place. I have border collie dog so there's a lot of hair. I did have to rewire the head with external wire but is still works fine. Amazing what you can fix. Top video. Thanks

    Awesome video. The spinning pin just snapped likely due to too much hidden hair and me forcing the roller when stuck.
    I just bought a secondhand head which in really bad condition but the spinning pin looks look.
    Now I need to just swap the parts over 😊

    my dyson v7 animal has been a pin in the rear over the 3-4 years i have had it.
    My cleaner cuts out on turbo.
    The brushes wear down so quick that i have had 3-4 replacements.
    The wheels wear down and they sent m,e a new head
    and both heads have stopped working because the wire that runs through the joint to power the head snapped as the gauge is sooooo small. I had to repair it yesterday.

    Thanks for the great video Mr Beko , my 3year old V8 floor brush kept cutting out then stopped altogether (all the other attachments worked no problem) so I sent for a set of T 6-10 screwdrivers and set to .
    Lots of dust and fluff EVERYWHERE inside but nothing wrapped around the bit that turns the brush.
    Then noticed that it would go round if the brush was pushed hard against the connector on the hand held bit, but only when the floor brush was straight up !!
    So, wondering if it was a wiring problem, I started to follow the two wires from the terminals in the floor head, carefully taking off every cover I could see, and lo and behold !! the white wire was in two pieces right at the inside of the "elbow joint" of the floor head.
    I managed to pull down the top bit to create s bit of slack then spliced the two ends back together and put electrical insulation tape around it . VICTORY !! I would never have been able to even attempt this - (and put it back together) without this video .
    It is now working perfectly so thank you again .

    Have 2 V7’s , the Motörhead on both stopped spinning , no clogs,. Dyson made it good by providing a new head and not even asking for the old one back. V7’s have better connectors than the V6’s , but the-wires used are very thin and brittle and will break if flexed back and forth which happens with use ( bad design and wire placement).
    I disassembled the heads on both machines and found that wires had snapped in the same place on both heads. One had both positive and negative wires broken.
    I soldered wires back together and sealed them with a heat shrink sleeve( that should also help protect them from future problems.
    Also, Dyson uses these crappy Phillips head screws that have a friking microscopic placement for your screwdriver to fit into, and is very easy to strip, and if you strip it , your pretty much screwed ( pardon the pun). If you strip the screw head trying to get it out your pretty much done other than breaking it apart, ( Hack, use a soldering iron to melt plastic around screw head to release piece, then once piece is removed you can use vice grips to remove screw, then just use a bigger screw to reassemble).
    So, I got a new head from Dyson , and repaired the two I had.
    They make it real hard to disassemble and repair. They will just give you a replacement, or if out of warranty, expect you to buy a replacement.
    Seems to me like a recall for this should be in place, as both my machines had the same issue, one machine was only 6 months old.

    This enabled me to fix my daughters V6 standard head. However, much of what you did was out of shot so perhaps you should reshoot this one. One complaint is that you put the long screw back in the wrong place. There is no screw in that position, you never took it out from there. The long screw goes in the one hole which was still empty when you finished. It belongs in the hole near the twist fastener on the bottom brush plate.

    I've noticed that the black & white wires in the bend of the arm going to the floor head tend to snap. This stops the brushbar spinning completely. Best scenario is the bearing & spindle being clogged with hair (as in this video). I've never found the Johnson brushbar motor to have failed, not once. So annoying when the white or black wire snaps as it can't be joined without it being at risk of coming loose & failing again :(

    Another great video Sam! Out of interest, what sort of grease/lubricant do you use on bearings for the likes a brush roll or are they okay for the life of the vacuum? Just wondered if it's worth doing on my V10 to keep it in good order or if I'll make something worse!

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I only grease them when they dry out. I use bog standard general purpose grease, get a big tin of it for £5 from B&M, lasts years! I'd not do it on a bearing that doesnt need it, it'll be 3 or 4 years until a V10 needs it! I do DC41's now, and their what, 5ish years old now?

    I would like to say thank you, but I can't. Only about a 3rd of what you did was actually in front of the camera. This will be the 1st time I have ever attempted to do anything like this so I really needed to see what you were doing. My problem with my V6 is exactly the same as this but I can't even attempt to be brave enough to look at it with comments like 'I have found something suitably lubricated'! What did you find?! Because I'll very likely need to find one too. I stopped watching with 6 mins to go because there wasn't any point any more because I couldn't see what I actually needed to do. Such a shame because I'm convinced it's the same problem. And now I have to go searching through other videos, wasting goodness knows how much more time when I'm so so busy as it is.

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You made me correct this and film an updated version 100% in view. But I lubricated the inner brushroll drive cog bearing. Remove the two screws holding the rear sprung wheel and lift that out. Undo the quarter-lock for the rear baseplate and remove, remove the brushroll too. Undo the 4x corner screws and 1x long middle one. there's a very short screw inside the head just by the suction inlet. Lift the top silver cover off the head. Unplug the 2 wires to the motor and with a twist lift up and out. Remove the smaller screw holding the brushroll drive cog on and gently and evenly prise it off with a small screwdriver. Then pull all the hair out of the bearing. pop the dust cover off the bearing, remove more hair then fill with light oil, pop the cap back on, spin by hand and check it free's up and turns nicely then re-assemble. To test, just plug the motor back into the wires out of the head, plug the head remains into the machine and test. Hope this helps.

      Does the motor itself spin when it's not connected to the belt?

  • @naomichau9860
    @naomichau9860 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    15:30 Hello, I have a question about the motor belt. Is the belt suppose to have some stretch like a elastic band? Because I took my belt out and now I can’t put it back on and my belt has no stretch so it is super tight. If so, do you know where I can buy a new belt?

    • @beko1987
      @beko1987  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The brushroll belt? No it has no strech/tiny mild bit. The best way I've found is to loop it round the motor. Then you'll notice a flat on the side of the plastic bigger cog. Strech the belt over onto this flat then gently rotate the big cog and it should spin the belt on.
