    Yes thank you for creating this video, mine broke and I almost ordered the spindles ONLY not realizing that the gear behind is the one you need to replace along with a new belt. Very informative

    Thanks for the video. Currently that part was listed at $50. The whole cleaner head assembly was $89 from Dyson, so I went that route instead.

    I left the gear drive housing together and drilled through the parts with 1/8" drill and tapped the holes for the bolt I used to hold the reassembled drive together. Ground the bolt head down till it fit in the brush drive cavity. Make sure to stay centered when drilling. If you fail, just buy the new gear assembly. Make sure you thread the bolt in from the side that will "tighten" if a brush would jam. That way, you do not need a nut on the bolt and it just needs to be long enough to reach the far cavity.

      My bearing also separated from that part and stayed with the outer piece. It was locked up when I checked it and that's likely where all these breaks start

    Thanks! You've save me about $100. You looked to be doing this real time, so my hats off to you. To help others, at 6:15 I think it's best to take off those 2 brush rotators so you can slip that out of that housing. Then once that's all out, you can completely take out that the spindle and belt. The video shows him kind of breaking the egg to get the yolk out, but just take it all apart and it's much easier.

    Great video! I ran into exactly the same issue. But I tried the Dyson service store first, they replaced a new vacuum head for free...I recommend to try them first before to do the diy based of this video!

    OMG...THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO because I have been driving my self nuts trying to figure out what is supposed to be what....and what is wrong and how to get it all apart!!! I have the exact same problem...and no manual. I never would have been able to put it all back together without your video...BUT.....I am still stuck at the part, that I forgot, how to connect the two parts back together and there is a lighter gray half circle clip maybe that I have off from some place and can't remember where that goes and how. I did not see one in your video. It either goes on the main vacuum part or the main brush part somewhere where the two meet.

    This issue happens all the time on my Dyson Ball vacuum. The spindle axle should not brake/shear this way, especially on a high-end brand such as Dyson, this easily. Dyson's first mistake was making design/engineering decision to use plastic as the material for this part instead of metal. This alone is a justification to stay clear of these specific models of Dyson product.

  • @sl5311
    @sl5311 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for this it was the only one i could find that opened up the belt-motor housing. I also got a replacement spindle too but it took so long to get I forgot what the spring was for. From your video i could see around 8:22 that it was held down by the small black button type piece with a screw through it -which thankfully i still have. What still doesn't make sense is, why screw it down? Doesn't that take the tension out of it? It makes me wonder if I'm missing another piece...

    That screw at 06:24 by the wheel will not come out! I don't know if I stripped it or not, but I've tried all my torx tools and is either too big or too small. Frustrated as this is the last screw that needs to come out to replace the gear. Any ideas?

    Great video! Helped me to disassemble.
    Comment: on 6:24, T8 should be used. I mostly break the screw trying to use T9 🙂 Other places: T9 or T15
    Unfortunately because part cost about $55 on link provided and it is not possible to find this simple part in any other place and full new Dyson head cost $92 include labor, repairing looks less wise :-)

    At 2:12 you easily pulled off the ends, if mine won’t budge (there is hair in there that needs removed), am I out of luck and need to buy a whole new head?

    • @danscire6092
      @danscire6092  ปีที่แล้ว

      At 2:12 the piece pulled out because it was broken, isn't supposed to pull out. the whole part I put back in there goes in the middle and the sides sandwich it in.. Theres a cap on there that does come off of the little axle(one of which is on the part that pulled out at 2:12) that is screwed on, did you remove the screw? Look around 4:30 which is where I unscrewed it. If it doesn't come off after unscrewing that screw, maybe see if you can get some wd40 behind it? maybe through the screw hole on the top?

      It says there are none available, it said that when I was looking as well. I messaged the seller and asked about the ETA for a part and they responded with "i will add one for you", and i was able to order.. I think you can try the same thing.. message the seller and ask when they expect to have any parts and perhaps they will do the same. Good Luck.. definitely saves money with less than 1 hour effort..
