Now seriously. Please enjoy this with all your soul. There's only few of them still with us, and them flawless gifting us the art of the ones that aren't here anymore. When these few leave us, and they old, the remaining good music will only be recordings and memories. If you have a minimal chance to see them live, please do it. Be happy and enjoy music as it was conceived, raw and human. Love to yall
Wish I could have seen him. But I don't travel and he doesn't visit here ( I think he's been within a couple hundred miles a couple of times). But I'm fortunate enough to be able to enjoy his music anytime at the push of a few buttons.
Who would ever forget The Band's version of It makes No Difference as a highpoint of The Last Waltz. However riding on a superb parallel, here's Eric Clapton's homage to Robbie from Crossroads, November 2023. You can feel the love pour from every core and more. No ego, no one trying to outdo anyone, just complete harmony in respect. My heart swells with joy ❤😊🎉
it is amazing, seems to follow Rick Danko's performance - which was a studio re-recording after some sound/recording trouble at the event but still memorable
@@steinbauge4591 Every now & again I listen to Music From Big Pink, the album that introduced me to these fine musicians & drew me in, not only to their great feel for Dylan's music, but also for the gems they created. Then follows the inevitable foray into the albums that followed, the later ones not as much as the early ones. What wonderful treasures they created to fill their 'Rock of Ages'.
When Clapton said he aspired to be in The Band as he thought they were the pinnacle of music at their peak, that was no small statement and pays testament to the brilliance of Robbie Robertson et-al. Great homage here. Love Eric Clapton. Still going strong.
There's a version of Danko singing it n Japan with The Band but not Robertson. I have never heard anyone sing like that before. Its a stunning rendition. Yes his versions are all good but that one is not of this earth. Danko was made to sing that tune. Thanks for Robertson for writing it and Danko for lifting it to the heights it deserves. And thanks to the rest of the band for providing the foundation and performance to so many great songs.
You were there, Eric! At the Last Waltz. I saw that film when it was released with my dad. I was 8 years old and fell in love with music. Today I have had a career as guitarist since 4 decades. Love the Band,Love Eric Clapton!
One of the few songs that just gets better everytime you hear it. Eric did this song very well I was there and it was a beautiful tribute just days after Robbie's passing. It definitely brought a tear to my eye.
Amazing cover. It does complete justice to the original, and that's saying a lot coming from The Band. Be well, Eric, thank you so much for your music.
Seen this Saint of a man many times he is my all time favorite my cousins and my wife we have all seen him me and my family. I love you all the way from TEXAS !!
I went to his 2013 Crossroads concert. Great 2 day concerts in NYC! Have been loving Clayton's music and singing since he and George Harrison were hanging around! Love them both! Hope Clapton has another Crossroads in him, Ill be there!
So glad I stumbled on this by accident. This is one of my favorite Band songs. Fun fact, Eric wrote the song Holy Mother after the passing/suicide of Richard Manuel. Such a rich history of these musicians appreciation for one another. RIP Robbie, Rick, Richard and Levon ♥♥♥
One of the best voices, and guitarist of all time!!!❤❤❤ Thank you Eric Clapton for so many beautiful songs . Your talents many, and the work’s continue to do!! Your presence is the Top of anyone. ❤❤❤ Love many Layla, Virgin Mary, Will I see in Heaven,Crossroads,So many with Cheryl Crowe , The Best of Blues with JJ. Cale.Thank you Sir Eric Clapton.
You can say what you want to about Eric Clapton but he is a true living legend.. people tend to forget that he was there in the beginning...he was a part of the original power trio...he was considered one of the greatest guitarist of all time ...he had been a chameleon moving in and out of genres...he woodsheded for years to learn the true blues greats...and he has inspired millions of young people to pick up this wonderful instrument we call the guitar... thanks Eric for your vision and passion.....🎸🎸🎸
Imo should only do covers at this point. His guitar chops have faded a bit into predictable riffs- but his voice has elevated yet to another level. Beautiful cover. Rip Robbie. Rip Rick❤.

I’m with Bill Murray on this one. Crying? I’m not crying! Are you crying? This is such a great reminder that Clapton is really a fantastic singer because that song is f-ing hard to cover. Rick Danko’s vocal on the original has so much pain in it that you can’t just roll right into this as a cover band right after a Stones song or some such. But Eric knows the pain and can pull it off.

So so true. I finally got to see him live at the Hollywood Bowl this year at the end of his Americas Tour. So blessed. An absolute GOD!
Clapton always said he wished he could be in The Band. He shows his love in this fantastic cover of a great song.
A little too "Croon to the Moon in June" for me. Not one of his best.
@@emmgeevideo no; he nailed it.
He nails it! Totally carries the spirit of Danko!
The man's 79 years of age. His singing and playing are still from the heart
His voice is as good as ever. Amazing pick for an opener.. wow

This song is a beautiful homage to the greatness of The Band!.💓
Eric Clapton never disappoints. He’s killing it here, gosh following him since 1970 and he just gets better❣️❣️❣️❣️
We were there. A special day. Eric Clapton critics can kiss my grits 😊
One of the best if not the best
@@jamesmitchell7193 The best at nice mild adult contemporary muzak.
Legend has it that the critics became his fans after this performance.
If they are criticizing Eric then they are Jealous or have no taste in music
@ Taste is subjective.
OMG my coming of age rockers. Wish everyone could have lived through the 1970’s as a teen. Magical time. Love you Eric. Rock on!
Same but these days I only get to enjoy these while I’m pooping on the toilet 🤷🏼♀️🥰❤️
Such a great group of musicians!!!
The Band is the greatest American rock band… so influential, honest, the heart of America.
All of them were Canadian except Levon Helm.
@@gerryszumiak708 lol. True. But that’s the irony.
I guess Canada is in America

The older I get the more I appreciate Eric's music 🙏
No shit brother
Yeah, he was an arse as a young guy … but definitely aged like a fine wine.
The greatest Band song of all time. Nothing beats Garth Hudson’s the sax solo at the end of the song. Thank you Eric for the tribute.
