  • INTP's are always in search of new knowledge. They want to learn how things work. Even how the whole universe works. They are dreamers and they dream big. They are known for procrastinating a lot but there is a way out. Join me and let's explore together. Enjoy!

    Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The test attempts to assign four categories: introversion or extraversion, sensing or intuition, thinking or feeling, judging or perceiving. One letter from each category is taken to produce a four-letter test result, like INTP or INFP

    Basically, to sum it up: Continue doing random bs, but do projects on it, little projects. The projects and accompanied research will allow you to grow skills, which will be helpfil later on. And not jsut physical skills, this also works for Intellectual skills, such as coding or chess, or whatever else

      I always kind of knew I should be doing something like this but was always too scared/lazy idk to take any skill this far unless I was forced to do it like in school or some training program, in which I usually struggled a bit to stay consistent/interested in it and meet deadlines..

    Spot on. I have a lot of interests that I’ve been putting off then get depressed about it yet come back to it all the time. The thing that makes me feel better is what I discovered as “putting yourself out there even if you suck (ymmv)” anywhere out there on the internetz and getting used to posting a lot.
    Acknowledging the wanting to show the world “how good I am” is also part of it but over the months of posting my work out there, just getting my ideas out there has helped me get out of my own head.

    I think the most frustrating part of being an intp is I don't get paid to think and map out solutions. Also as I learn via TH-cam, etc I am wanting to harness skills across many topics but the library is ever expanding, so learning might end for me simply because the resources are limited and resources of another topic aren't as limited but time is valuable and I'm aware I procrastinate but that's because I chose attempt to chose my time wisely based on my wants and perceived needs.

      But you could get paid to think and map out solutions. That’s a role that’s needed somewhere. Also needed are people who have covered a broad range of subjects and able to draw abstracts between them. Usually these are companies that have pioneering and groundbreaking among their values.

    I just wish this was brought to me much earlier. As young boy I usually liked to play alone, chase some butterfly's and just wander in nature. At class I rather just dived in my own world then explore weird math symbols or reading. Horrible success at school and work life for me. I want to do a lot of things now that I am adult. Art, music and lately trying to understand math once again. Astronomy and philosophy is close to my heart now. And my perception of time is much "twisted" and it has gotten me in trouble many, many times.. No pun intended.
    I just don't see myself that much of an intelligent person tho

    Intp doesn't want to work, we want to learn and improve. Using what we learn to achieve something other than expanding our understanding is work. Good thing our shadow is the ENTJ. I believe the immature intp is only learning getting ready to develop and effectively use entj traits, or is becoming capable enough to impress the elitist entj type and have an unstoppable symbiotic world dominating relationship.

    i see my issue arising from the way my mind automatically creates an internal framework or mental map which describes how the world works, and the more i learn the more accurate it becomes as i constantly either affirm or modify it depending on what i'm perceiving. the issue for me at the moment is that the more accurate this mental map becomes, the more likely it is that any new topic i learn about fits perfectly within the framework. while i might still be learning new information, it doesn't necessitate changing the framework. it just adds to the picture and sharpens the resolution of the image. i recognise that to most people this doesn't sound like an issue, as who wouldn't want to understand the world as clearly as is possible? the problem arises because what i find most exciting is coming across new information that challenges my existing framework. but i'm finding that the more i learn (and the more accurate my framework becomes) the more i'm struggling to find these challenges. so nothing comes as a surprise anymore which is a bit sad. people and their emotions are predictable, systems and their expressions are predictable. the world makes perfect sense, which is good because it means i'm more competent at navigating it... but often it just feels like i'm swimming in an ocean where the bottom is 5 feet deep and it only contains goldfish. everything is explained by rational principles, even the apparent irrationality of other people can be explained through an understanding of their motivations and consequent biases. my mind for whatever reason is very adept at using rationality to understand and explain things in life, and this means everything makes sense, and this means everything is predictable, so i'm never surprised anymore. it's a "first world problems" category of a complaint but it is what it is

    TLDR; 2 parts of the process for myself and other intps. Innovation, the mental work and letting your brain solve whatever puzzle you're given, and the physical work, Action. Action usually can be treated as just doing chores basically, if you want to get the thing done, dont treat it as a mental challenge, but just a thing to do for the time being, until it's complete. That helps me do work.
    What I've noticed in my personal little INTP journey is that there's at least for me two modes of function there's the thinking mode where you've got your brain and mind space and whatnot, basically mentally solving and uncovering the puzzle, then you've also gotta do the things for your projects, different ball game entirely.
    I've noticed that the second one can be treated as working a job almost, you get used instead of first by the mental process, then just do the thing, it's more like folding laundry and just sitting down and being patient.
    Innovation vs action sort of thing.
    At least for me and perhaps for other intps it seems like the main thing is picking a place in The innovation part of your little process and then going to the action part and sort of just doing chores/work. You're just doing a bunch of things with your hands and in the physical world.
    I did all of this through voice to text on my phone so let me know if there's anything that needs to be edited or clarified.

    • @tinkerjae
      @tinkerjae 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edit: action just requires patience, mindfulness and just being present helps for me. Ironically being there in the moment helps time go faster

    • @rb.x
      @rb.x ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for this summary. It’s actually the missing insight I came searching for: “Be in the moment”… when I’m overwhelmed this is the thing that gets lost. I always feel like I have to use my brain for everything. Folding laundry i can do… I’ll give this a try.

  • @whoami2654
    @whoami2654 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    INTP loses interests because we look for intrests in a outwardly manner(outside of our mind in outside world). Point is to look inwards within our own mind, rembering our past memories observing our own most common pattern of behavior and thoughts that triggered our interests and not and then categorize those patterns into groups, it can be more than one which is ok, after that sort it out in a list with rank of priority. It can be an abstract sensation or wild imagination or something silly and emotional. We have to reduce our parameters of exploring in the surface level and start diving deeper into the topics. Point is to find something that matches our inner mental framework of thinking and practicing that habit everyday to stick with that field adding more value.

    It’s funny because I’ve already come to the conclusions you’ve stated in the video. But I needed to hear this. Because lately I’ve been down on myself because I feel like I’m not adding any value to anyone. Everyone seems to be doing awesome things and I’m just thinking about doing awesome things and not following through to the end so I don’t have much to show for the so-called smarts I possess.
    I tried to pigeonhole myself so that I can atleast try to be super skillful in one area but I keep going to other interests which in turn help me develop something bigger. But I tend to look at this as a bad thing because I don’t finish. It’s hard to explain because I want to finish, but I don’t because I no longer feel the need to go all the way. But I want to have success and materialize the ideas that I have because they are useful

    Procrastination is connected to possibilities and if you finish something you have terminated the possibility of it becoming something else other than what it is when it is finished. It's really something that the subconscious is responsible for because most don't realize why they're not finishing. But I am an infp and finishing for me is very difficult so I thought it through and came to this conclusion that procrastination, I believe is tagged to this explanation.

    I really related to this video.. for three to four years I studied the craft of fiction writing.. going to workshops, reading books, doing tutorials, practicing writing novels, doing everything I could to get published, until eventually I finally did. I have three published short stories out there in some sci-fi and fantasy anthologies.
    And once I had finally done this I stopped writing. Just when I realized my goal of being published I quit, as writing fiction was no longer interesting. I tried writing a full length novel using all the knowledge I had acquired, but I became so bored about 25% of the way through that I put it down and never took it up since.
    And I felt sad because I thought it was my dream to become an author. I beat myself up for a time over my feeling bored with writing, like this shouldn't be happening..

    Like being a doctor?
    We can't just do things properly, motivated and happy if is something against our desires?
    Or maybe, you can adapt it to yourself, like being a doctor, but when you start to feel bored you change your carear to be a researcher in the medical area and etc?
    Or you really is faded to be a steriotyphical multi-personalitè who can't be productive if you do not directly infinitly learn and produces about phylosophy, programing, physics or everything that captivates your interest for a while.
