Boogie, Thanks. Because of you, you gave me that final push over the edge to get into MtG. I've always found the game to be interesting but never found the will to actually get up and go give it a try. But after hearing about how you and your wife really bonded and play together and have hours upon hours of fun just playing together I finally decided to get into it.
Shortly after getting into MtG I introduced it to my Girlfriend and she fell in love with the game itself as well.Not too long after that her best friend joined in on the fun... then my best friend... then our brothers... So now we have this little mini community that we hold at each other houses and have mini tournaments or even all for one 6 player match. All because of that one video.

Here is an interesting question I think.
I have been watching you be excited opening Magic Cards! I was a huge fan of YuGiOh and I loved the feeling of having a victory in a card game!
I know you were very knowledgeable in Magic The Gathering I was wondering if you would ever make a video playlist for players that want to get in to Magic!
I would love to have a tutorial black decks, green deck, blue deck, red decks, combo color decks, or a video series for Beginner magic players! To have an easier way of exposing new players to cards. There are thousands of card in magic but maybe there are staple cards in decks. :)
In M:tG, "Eternal" means either "a format from which sets never get removed" or "a format that includes sets from all eras of M:tG". Legacy and Vintage are both "Eternal" formats. Modern is sometimes also considered an "Eternal" format, but since it has it's own "masters" sets, "Eternal Masters" focused on Legacy and Vintage.

I had one mythic from my box, Maelstrom Wanderer. Pretty pissed off really, got only one decent rare in a sensei's top. Don't buy boxes people.
I wouldn't call your bad luck a reason to not purchase boxe's rly bad luck however it is a gamble for sure.
I got screwed so hard on my SOI box (literally like $30 in value) that I forced myself to pass on Eternal Masters entirely. Feel for ya man.

I started playing shortly after the game came out (though I quit in the early 2000's because it got too expensive to stay in the tournament scene) and there are single cards from the early sets that go for thousands of dollars now...and have gone for thousands of dollars for years...If you can find an online price guide...check out how much a Black Lotus goes for...I can remember when you could buy them for $20 to $30 bucks...assuming you didn't already get one in a pack...

The fact that he could make an unboxing video for something I dont have any experience with wildly entertaining shows how amazing of a speaker he is. i just watched a 22 minute magic the gathering box opening video, just to see boogie get excited and happy because he is the man and he deserves it.
I noticed a lot of cards from the sets that i used to play, the urzas and onslaught. Those were the days, I had an elf deck that would take like 20 minutes for 1 turn where I would play the whole deck lol.
Just watch your getting this off my chest video, and I know you're probably never going to see this, but if you do you should know that you shouldn't tell yourself what you did from 4:30 to 4:40. I know you get hate comments and stuff like that sometimes, but to your real fans, you have been HUGELY influential. That's accomplishing a lot IMO.

Boogie, I've only been subscribed since you made the video on the fine bros, but since then, I can easily say you've taught me A LOT of things I consider beneficial to maintaining a happy and healthy life, and from what I've seen in your videos' comment sections, I'm not the only one who thinks this way. As Ben pointed out alongside his time stamp, please don't limit yourself. I know it is hard to measure up to Christina (R.I.P.), but you ARE a great man and you DO have a huge influence, at least much bigger than most of us anyways, and the best part is that it's not over for you. One of my favorite older decks involved the winter orb icy manipulator "lockdown" combo. So cool to see the untap errata on the card. And in other news... I'm so glad for Magic: Duels so I don't have to spend upwards of $500 every time new cardboard comes out. All I have to do is do some daily quests and fill out some playsets.

I never played magic the gathering, but watching you open these packages brings back alot of nostalgia from back in my day when i used to play around with yugioh cards and pokemon cards, i never rly dueled with them, i just loved the art work and collecting/trading them

Ok, I've used that site a couple of times, but I can't use it very well. When I try to check for prices of cards I usually type in the name of the card and ...I get lost from there xD

Thank you Boogie, for taking me on a little trip down memory lane and the feeling of opening boxes and boxes of boosters. Thousands of dollars spent at my local comic shop back in the mid to late 90's on MTG. I am a huge fan of the artwork as well.

hey boogie i have a question. how would you reccomend getting into magic? i see your video and it makes me really want to play but i dont know where to start
Welcome decks are given away for free at card shops. pick them up for free and learn the basics of the game first. The next thing I'd recommend doing is looking at the latest few sets and learning about them, then go to a draft night at your local card shop. They're fun, not overly competitive, and you'll have lots of experienced and new player there to help you learn how to play if you need help(most people are very accepting of new players). If you want to start building your own deck and attending events with your own decks, I recommend you look into standard. It's the easiest for new players to pick up. Another thing to consider is that there will be a prerelease in early July for the new set, Eldritch Moon, that is about to come out. Attending a prerelease is probably the funnest, chillest, ways to start learning the game, the most bang for your buck ($20-$30), and (depending on the card shop) there may be food.
Download the "Magic: Duels" app on your phone or on your PC through Steam. You can learn all the rules there by playing the story.
DO NOT spend money on the app. This is just a tool to learn the game. From there, you can play against your friends by buying some intro packs or maybe even a "Duel Deck" product where you get two decks to play against one another.
From there, you can start buying single cards to play in whichever of the many Magic formats there are. You can then start going to your local game store for Friday Night Magic to play with your deck or even just to draft (open 3 packs while picking 1 card then passing for each pack until they're depleted, then making a deck out of them and playing)
There's a ton of different and fun ways to play. Just realize now that the hobby is very expensive to start out. Your cards don't usually deteriorate in value too much, but it has a high entry point. If you want to stay budget, there are some budget decks out there, but they're never going to be as good as the more expensive ones. Also, you could just stick to drafting which is usually $12-$15 and you can do that as much as you want/can.

I bought a few intro packs and realized you can't really take them to FNM because you won't win at all. Any suggestions on getting into MTG and getting a deck that can compete with FNM at your local game store? I'm a college student on a budget but MTG seems really cool
Yeah the intro packs are garbage. Look at StrictlyBetterMTG. He does a ton of really good deck techs and shows both the budget version and the more competitive version, as well as their prices. Prices range from $5-$60 for the budget decks and $200-$450 for the competitive.

I really like that Goblin Charbelcher card. I actually have it in my goblin deck. I combo that card with Goblin Recruiter that allows me to search my library for any number of goblin cards, put them in any order I want, reveal them to my opponent and place them on top of my library. At that point, unless you can prevent the dmg somehow, its a two turn win. I try to build my decks with multiple combo wins in them in case one get shut down.
I think my favorite part about this video is listening to boogie talk about the history of magic.

Pyrokinesis is a very playable card being played in Goblins, and this is the first time it is printed in foil. Stingscourger is also played in Goblins, was obviously printed in foil back then but neither of these cards are strange to be reprinted.
Seeing channels with over 1 Mil subs open up Magic just makes me happy

WoW, good memories; It has been a while since I played MTG, started around Plane Shift and stopped playing around Dissension, It sucked up most of my allowance. And I never was truely good at it... Only card I could remember having is the original Chrome Mox, still in a map, along with my 7th Serra Angel.

Ai always like TCG/CCG's when i was younger i used to collect the Pokémon cards during Gen 1 and 2 and played the yu-gi-oh TCG with my brother and neighborhood kids.
And watching this video is makeing me feel nostalgic i would love to play another TCG or CCG but i have no clue where to start or if it has an active playerbase in my native Netherlands.

I ended up pulling a Force of Will from the first pack from this set. I was shocked pulling a card like that last Wednesday I believe. Awesome pulls btw
The common dualland crap was put in there for limited, so there are duals in the common slot. this means that you can draft multiple collars and still have a chance of getting some dual lands to fix your mana. If they would have put in better lands there would be no way to reliably draft color fixing lands.
also the box price would be over 1000 if they did
I love Pyrokinesis. I use it in my Legacy goblin deck, to clear the path for my Lackeys and Instigators. Plus, if you run three or four, you have the potential to exile a pyrokinesis to play another pyrokinesis for free, and so you don't really lose anything
