I have a Signia 5AX - T. When I talk with people in crowded areas, I note a huge improvement in being able to understand what they are saying. In my car, with the blower, radio on and someone talking to me; I go to the “noisy environment program” and I am able to hear the person talk. I normal “universal” program in my car, I can now hear the car's blinker sound. If my phone and iWatch ring, I answer only my iPhone to make my hearing aids Bluetooth picking up the phone call. If I answer my iWatch to a phone call, the call will not go to my hearing aids. For me, the charge does great all day long with no dead hearing aids. When I stream my iPad or iPhone, the sound is really good. I like the focus feature using the Signia APP to better focus and capture what people are saying. I have my T-Coil activated, but have yet to find a place that uses the loop hearing in their establishment. The audiologist and staff are good to me and I can consult them as needed. I think the tinnitus feature is useless. I use the wave sound and I'll have my audiologist remove the tinnitus program - useless!,

Thanks for a balanced review - with both pros and cons which is rare when most videos focus on advertising and marketing hype. What I would add is that other hearing aid brands offer equivalent technology in regards to speech clarity in background noise, with single processors also able to apply targeted processing to sounds coming from front and rear microphones.

Thanks so much! Very informative. I do wonder how these compare to the Phonak p90s since I've finally narrowed my choice down to these 2.

Bluetooth connectivity is an issue when it comes to Apple products such as iPhones and iPads, too. I get nearly a days use - approx. 20 hours most days. The environmental sounds sometimes muddle speech recognition, and makes conversations in a noisy environment difficult - and I often end up having to crank up the volume - which doesn’t always help. I am still getting used to always carrying with me the charger to buy pass any Bluetooth connectivity issues .

You or a manufacturer assume any hearing aid can distinguish noise whether it’s speech or background noise. It’s all noise to a hearing aid, that’s why they don’t ever work in difficult environments.

Hi Curt. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. This is certainly a complicated issue fraught with frustration. With all due respect, it's not an assumption - in my years as an audiologist I have been told by many clients that their hearing aids have allowed them to engage in conversations in environments that would have otherwise been too difficult, including environments with background noise. This does however require that the user is fit with appropriate hearing aids that match their speech-in-noise ability, that the hearing aids are programmed according to best practices, and that the user is well counselled by their audiologist on how to best work with their hearing aids in any given environment to improve their effectiveness.
There are several methods by which a hearing aid distinguishes noise from speech (e.g. directionality, classification of sounds based on their dynamic or steady-state nature, etc). It's no secret that noisy environments can be very challenging and that the technology is far from perfect, and there are certainly a number of people who need more assistance in noise than even the best current technology can offer. The hope is that with the continuing advancement of sound processing technology, we can continue to help more and more people in these complicated environments.

Trialling them atm. Very poor sound barrier. I’m also extremely disappointed with streaming to both iPhone and iPad. It either works or it doesn’t, and sometimes only one ear streams. I don’t know yet if this can be improved by the audiologist tweaking something.

Anyone know of device that will allow tv audio to go to the bluetooth hearing aids as well as still come out of the TV at the same time?

Yes! Every manufacturer has its own TV streaming device. As long as you use the digial optical output to connect it to the TV rather than the 3.5mm headphone cable, then this will allow audio to stream vbia Bluetooth to the hearing aids as well as the TV sdpeaker output for others around you.
