    You should drop some water into the mold in which the rotating ceramic stone sits. It will give you way better results (and faster results). The water cleans the ceramic stone and prevents metal dust entering the ceramic stone´s micro-pores (keeping the ceramic stone more aggressive). Try it out for yourself...(first clean the ceramic stone with a toothbrush and some soup or dish-cleaner).

      I guess the idea is to create a little bit of a slurry to help sharpen as well? Great tip. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I looked up fiskars scissors sharpener and I Never Saw an example of sharpening a pair of scissors, like what happened to scissor sharpening? I don't even own an ax and very few knives. How can I critique this without seeing scissor sharpening? Which is what I asked for?

    You forgot to mention one important thing: The knife sharpener’s container tht holds the ceramic wheel, should be filled with water the whole time the sharpener is being used or you will damage your blades as well as the sharpener

      Holy cow, you're right: that's what the Ikea online "good to know" tip says...not that anyone who simply picked one up in a store and - lacking any instructions attached to the tool. reasonably assumed that, like most knife sharpening tools, it operated 'dry' - could be expected to know that...Am forwarding this to Ikea.

    Once used this sharpener on a knife in a pinch. 3 sharpeners later and it is all I use on my EDC. Takes a bit to get the bevel at first but gives a lethal edge.
    Don't use the sawing motion, rather go in the same direction. It makes a difference.

    This thing is biggest crap i have even get by Fiskars.Their tools usually are highest quality,but this one is the worst thing i have ever pucashed from Firskars ! So,my knife get barely sharp after i used it like 3 times ! And the lines on the rolls are already gone,and i used it on 1 knife ! Maybe my knife is from special steel,but instruction says it can be used on all types on knifes and yet,it's not sharp and stripes are gone on roller... And the price of it was 12.99 €... My biggest dissapointment from Firskars :(

    I heard that this Fiskars Axe and knife sharpener is 22.5°, is there any sharpener which allows us to change the degree of the sharpener for different purpose ?
    For example for Axe 20° might be great, but for kitchen knife or Paper knifes 16° would be great !!

    I don't want to sound like a "smart ass", but you actually doing it wrong. You are moving the blade in the center od the "V". You shoud lean the knife surface on the plastic "V", one pass on the right side and one pass on the left side. You will get the best results. I'm using an identical sharpener from IKEA for all my kitchen knifes and it's the best for us dummies.

    • @Kreischzwerg

    I have one of these. Why are the wheels crooked? They are a bit sideways in the well. Shouldn't I open the cover and line-up the knife blade in the groove between the wheels?

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are intentionally turned diagonal to accommodate the variation of edge angles. Feel free to open that cover and see what I mean. The little tab is on the underside of the sharpener. Passing the bade through following the guide whilst the stone is diagonal is the appropriate way to sharpen. I also understand the little well under the stone is there to hold a bit of water to use in a wet sharpening application.

So yeah YT time, and the commenting section really helped me, because from the bottom of the defice there is a clip, and you can open it to see whats inside, then I filled it with water, closed the lid and once again did 15 times more forward/backward and I was in SHOCK, now it works like a sharpener! 😎🤟

If you don't have a WorkSharp sharpener, get one. It will do perfectly for what you are asking. www.shootinguy.com/worksharp to see a little more. This sounds like a great demo video. Thanks for watching. I doesn't do miracles. That's for God. But it will maintain a good edge on an axe. If you want a real good approach to sharpening, take a look at our latest discovery.-- goo.gl/Rd4S3F
      I've have yet to do my own tabletop with my axe, but stay tuned, I'll get to it.

      Oh dear. Sorry to hear that. Keep in mind, it won't repair a damaged edge, only hone a slightly dull edge. To reprofile or put a new edge on you need something like this: th-cam.com/video/nT51xOUAe1s/w-d-xo.html
      You can find one here: amzn.to/2DJLVQ8
      Also if youwat to see more Work Sharp in action search my YT channel for Work Sharp. I've got a bunch of videos demonstrating it's usefulness We just put a new tip on a blade! th-cam.com/video/A22QJ6xkLQU/w-d-xo.html

    Will it work for sizzors

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the best for scissors. Scissors are single bevel and this is designed for dual bevel. If you want something great for scissors, use a worksharp: www.shootinguy.com/worksharp

    I absolutely loved this video, I was sharpening wrong the whole time until now, I feel so silly, I used this on a military ka-bar and it's sooooooooo sharp now, I also used it on an old Confederate Bowie knife that was dull, now it cuts like It used to, I 100% recommend getting this sharpener

    • @TSGEnt
      @TSGEnt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a simple tool and will clean up an edge and it's very low cost. May I suggest you consider options for deeper edge sharpening. Since this video, we've been using these: th-cam.com/play/PLxqyJu7t3VZZR4TQ42oepfJJVa0dbPRrz.html

    • @TSGEnt

      Thanks for watching and commenting. No water needed. It's a ceramic wheel and will do the job without water.
