    My research on all of these Fiskars has pointed out that the user needs to add water to the well under the rolling wheel, thus creating a wet stone effect. This is not indicated in the instructions, but yields a far superior result.

    I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm th-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

    yes, i'd say in terms of evil it's somewhere between EA's marketing division and Josef Mengele. indeed our parents didn't know jack about sharpening, they just knew enough to get things to sorta-work for a minute or two while severely sleep-deprived in a kitchen that smelled like green baby-dumps.

    For what it's worth, I bought one for $2 at an op shop. Trick to putting it together again is to start with spring on bottom piece curved away from the sharpening wheel, and make sure you click the top piece on with the spring lying between the two lugs in the top piece.

    Out of the pull through sharpeners I’ve used the fiskars one (older design, same idea) with the rolling stone has been best, in that it doesn’t just peel blade steel off! Also, when the cover is off you can alter the angle of the edge you get by letting the knife sit deeper into the v of the stone👍🏻

    • @tonycanniffe2360
      @tonycanniffe2360 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ian Moritz Krečič All you need is a leather and some paste or compound. And for the strop to be flat (if you want a V edge).
      Inconsistent results point to technique. Or perhaps the abrasive has become patchy. Or sometimes you are not removing the bur prior to stropping.
      (You can get diamond paste sets on eBay for not much money and they work well)
      Keep fairly light pressure.

Knife will always be sharp for barely no effort and results are good enough. Certainly better than not sharpening because it's a bother.
