That's one of epic episodes of Sorin's Sitcom...
"Breaking this track was a bad idea." I was surprised you didn't bypass the small board from the start. Nicely fixed.
This reminds me of my ESL teacher back in the US. I was the best one in the advanced class, but of course, like everyone else, every now and then I made mistakes, gave a wrong answer, etc. And he always said to me, "That's ok, it keeps you humble" Since then, every time I make a mistake, specially on electronics, I remember those words.
What a job!!! Fantastic.. I hope you learn one thing, ALWAYS do things the Sorin way 🙂
Happy Birthday! Never worry about being a dodgy Romanian. In the US, a Dodgy computer tech tells the customer the motherboard was destroyed by a short in the power button circuit, the laptop cannot be repaired. But, his company is willing to to take care of the hazardous waste disposal fees for an $49.95. Plus you owe 4 hours labor.
One of the best of Sorin's videos. Thank you for sharing!
happy birthday my friend sorin i wish you all the best in your life, your a great man and teacher!!
You know Sorin, with you this looks like a journey (like always), a pleasent one; instructive and entertaining same time! Nice episode! Baftă! 🍻
It is very interesting and entertaining to see all these challenges. We really benefit from what you present in your videos.
Thank you very much and I wish you a happy birthday

Happy B'day master Sorin.
Happy birthday tomorrow. Sorin ...🎉 greatings from Portugal... ❤ 5 *
Great insights. Thank you. Happy birthday in advance
that was insane and i agree with you and i can say that we should never let our guard down even for a power button :))) but anyway it allways a pleasure and a satisfaction of seeing a good job in action and a problem terminated (like the terminator :D ) i will be glad to be tommorrow for a coffee :) Good job Sorin and we see tomorrow
Happy Birthday mate 🎂🎉🎂🎉🎂🎉

Happy Birthday 🥳 for tomorrow sorin 🎉
Our master, the best of the best
happy bday Sorin
Two of the screws in the bottom cover are captive. No need to cut them off !!
Or no need to not cut them off....
Really it's an awesome job too sorin sir but finally you done it's a lesson to a people like me to learning
Sorin what a nightmare , some times what you did in the end gives the best results regards Jim
Un calduros " La Multi Ani !!! " draga Sorine
Awesome work.
Clearly you were tired when you were doing this job.
You traced nothing on motherboard when you saw disconnecting button board is fixing the issue. And some more signs that shows you were not focused when you did this job. Sometimes this happens. You're the best.
Лютый колхоз по исполнению, но работает же! Браво.
I think the fingerprint can be setup "on" in the bios or a option of the fingerprint software, so the user can power on the laptop by fingerprint, i remenber i use this way to power on a Thinkpad x230.
First time I’ve seen Sorin get frustrated with a job.
Good job mate
Great job!
Well, that was a good learning lesson for us, but I could see the frustration in you Sorin. But somehow it's good to see that your patience has a limit too. That gives me a goal to achieve... mine is much shorter :)
But I will never understand why they over-engineer such a simple thing as this... Must be an engineer fetish in this modern era I guess.
Great fix, Sorin. You have great patience. I would have thrown the laptop through a window after 1 hour of getting nowhere. 😅
Most get sold on ebay, broken display, untested, no returns.
why not remove goodix chip and connect power button 3.3 in to out line there on that chip? will it not work?
that was the proper solution, removing the fingerreader chip.
you are the master of fixing great work really you are amazing thank you ayman from Egypt
Would test those two transistors on that little board Sorin they should control print reader triggered by the power on button, the question is does the reader chip pull down the whole 3.3v rail or a faulty transistor doesn't give it enough juice.
Long press hard reset should work anyway though, so probably is the chip, or a dodgy cap on that little board seen only when it's powered. Can be. 😂
Happy Birthday Sorin.
Romanian guys passed a message that to be proper dodgy you had to take the resistor from the same laptop, not from a donor.
😂
I think it was a donor board
0:26 also me literally Said "Huh?" when sorin double read the confusing description. lol
Happy Birthday for Tomorrow.🥞🥞🥞🥞
Happy birthday
I missed the Niiice laptop at the beginning, I think the way Sorin says it, it much better
La multi ani ! Sorin. Tomorow you will make a proper calibrated party ?
Hello🤝masterpieces Sorin style ✌👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋
nice one... 👏👏👏
Wow that was crazy. Why does the power button have to be connected to the fingerprint reader? So sad it wasn't a stand alone module
Nice laptop pissed sorin finally
Why don't you just disable the fingerprint scanner in the bios?
Coffee at 7:00 am on a sunday is much too early for me especially on my birthday, so I wish you now a HAPPY birthday too ! No crazy jobs today !😇😁💗
Funny, my birthday tomorrow as well. Happy birthday to you 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@TriodeTetrode, I wish you a happy birthday roo!
I hate it when they overcomplicate things like a power button.
WoW definitely Sorin is not a quiter
wow , over complicated power button . finger print nonsense fails then whole laptop is locked , what a garbage design . awesome Sorin fixed it
Today it's not just nice, it's beautiful
17:10 "But I am not a dodgy guy ..." Yeah. A Sorin is SI unit for dodginess. Reaching 1 Sr is unfortunately impossible, most people are in microSorin range.
I knew it, this laptop will be fixed by a wire 😀, when I see you putting the 1k resistor. Yes à Sorin’s way.
great video thought u will do the dodgy Dr Sorin thing without wasting time
haha its nice that you can laugh at yourself, it doesnt bother you and its even nice that you can get out of it with humor
THAT'S SICK! 😅
Hello Dear Sorin, Its seems this board also sold separately.
First time I heard Sorin said this motherboard is pissing me off...
@ time. 18.52s there was what looked like a resistor that had been damaged up the right top of the screen.
good thanks :)
At 37:25 look at the connector pin on connector on the topn (purple connector) to the left of the 3.3 v line coming in. Doesn't that look like corrison or something in the connector?
It does look like corrosion but I think it’s the glue from the sticky film that was on top of the connector which he removed in the beginning. I may be wrong.
Happy Birthday.. I seen that there is a software fix for this known issue ??? from dell firmware update
This is freaking sick..😂 I laughed so hard by his expression 46:00 🤣🤣🤣
Happy birthday Sorin. ✨🍾🍸There is now an "Ooooohmlet" 😉😉from Diana 🥠🍽😃
How do you find what the chip is? TCM07? I looked it up so as to follow what you were doing but was unable to find it. Thanks
Maybe in bios there is a configuration that's triggering the need of read finger print first to unlock power button and keyboard.
If there is, wouldn't it then be silly by how easy it is to get the keyboard going again?
Hi my bro ...thanks 4u....my laptop .hp 14 dk0002dx amd .turn on and masseg bios recavery.i do it that flash disk but black screen and don't work
This is one of those nightmare jobs that come along now and then. To fix it perfectly often exceeds the value of the computer in respect to the amount of labor and parts if available. I would have done the same thing and consulted with the customer.
But why not just to replace the board? My 5770 didn’t even have fingerprint but motherboard supports, I ordered from aliexpress and now power button is fingerprint as well
Time and money. He would have to order it and it's stupid to waste more time.
that is not dodgy enough for Sorin.
Why didn't you use a "calibrated" wire instead of the resistor?
Well that was a nice birthday surprise, the "this is sick bro" made me laugh so hard. Your mistake was calling this a beautiful laptop instead of a nice laptop 🤣
The EU is bringing in a ban on chip ID linking, ie, no more iPhone BS - lol -. Unfortunately it prob doesn't cover the new M laptop's lid positional sensor.
@SidneyCritic: In recent years, before I retired, I had to log in and out of my job by putting my fingerprint on an optical reader... do people like that? ...well, here among us, the answer is: lol.
👌👌
What was the cost of the repair just curious i spend days repairing things and have no ideas of prices to take things to get repaired one of the reasons why i don't.
It s not faulty! It s the ultimate safe laptop. Nobody has access to data, not even the owner...
If it works I guess 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This true you can receive a complaint from a customer and think that's easy only to take your whole day.
Bye see you tomorrow 😁
moral of the stories.. do not buy laptops with, fingerprint reader, with discrete gpu, with high tdp cpu, with sophisticated display, with type-c charging.. sticking with bare with dc barrel connector with standart panel is good choice. Could only removing the faulty chip solve the problem?
Popcorn thime🍿🍿😊
🍿
the firet time I see Sorin angry :)
56:22 ☺
Sto LAT 🎉
It could be my viewing angle but two of the battery cells appear to be swelling. Might want to take a second look. Im only 10min into the video though. Lol
the fingerbrint ic
Happy dodgy birthday
Does the dodgy Romanian guy have a TH-cam channel... I would like to watch
From a fixing electronics point of view its interesting and fun to watch. But from customer service point of view its terrible. How come the client have no say if he want the fingerprint to work or not. Its still broken just with another way. You fixed one thing and broken another one.
