a perfect example of breaking down a repair in stages ...TIME AND EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE ....great video sorin . a pleasure to watch ...
I love this guy. Has a laptop held together with bandaids, toothpicks and glue and always starts with:
"Hello ! Today we got a niiiice laptop", while he precedes to work on a pile of crap.
But I know in the end we'll get the , , , , , "WE HAVE PICTURRRRRE !" LOL
😄👍
You forgot " I CAAAN'T BELIEEEEEEVE!" LOL
he forgot ''' PERFEEECT''
"Proper niicceee" in a Romanian accent is one of my new favourite lines. I use it daily. No-one gets it.
that's craaaazyyy 😂
"Dat"
The real problem was on the connectors you disconnected @ 35:24, probably you fixed the problem by displacing a solder ball or something shorting at that point of time. I think all chips are good, you should check again and charge for that
If you saw at 19:44 he took out the motherboard and the flat cable was not connected, and it didn't work, I don't think that was the only reason
@@L1nK79 'Maybe'! But after removing the chip and reconnecting the flat cable, and the fan cable, his conclusion is 'so we are back on the Square One', @ 24:44. Probably this Laptop will come back to Sorin with the same issue, I guess.
We have picture !!! That's crazy ! I can't believe ! , it never gets old .
So this video extended my lunch break from 15 minutes to an hour, but still it was kind of more interesting to watch than any crime show on TV… 😅
will never get bored love this 50min video
i've learn a lot from you sir keep up the good work .
Root cause analysis was sketch because repro of behaviors could not be (re)established. Maybe cables were misaligned or perhaps damaged from original screen repair? Some are calling Sorin lazy or sloppy for not resoldering the SIM socket controller. I agree the hitch in fault analysis should have led him to put the chip back on to test whether problem returned and to return laptop to full functionality (if possible). That said...are character attacks necessary? Perhaps he sincerely believed the controller was faulty. Regardless, I thank you, Sorin, for the content. I enjoy it.
Fantastic job , as always , thank you.
You are absolutely incredible. great job again Sorin.
great job sorin you got it working
That’s well crazy, great fix Sorin 😊
Trust me i got laughed when you get burn and my mum asked what happened 😂😂😂
I was on the bus and it caught me too.😅
No chips, no shorted chips 😄
very good job. never give up ...
I hate getting repairs where the first thing the repair label says is "customer repaired ..... and now it doesn't switch on". I charge an hourly rate for repairs where I have to fix other peoples mistakes because they've normally made a small problem into a bigger problem.
I don't accept to repair anything that had a repair attempt from a pro or a no pro cuz u never know what was the 1st problem and what are the problems now
Good job mate 👍
Good job on a tricky repair. I don't think the Samsung IC was the problem so like the other 2 ICs, you should be able to put it back as well to confirm.
I think reseating that orange connector/cable when you started isolating might cleared the remaining issue. Fun video!
Sorin will be the first to purchase a thermal finger
He now wants a piece of fish to go with the bag of chips he is getting back with his laptop 🤣
ZORIN THE circuit WIZARD ...👏👏👏your the best trouble shooter......
perfect👍👍👍, well done. 1:53
15:25 I am glad Sorin is not a vampire. That is confirmed. 😆
Sorin i think that chip is still fine. You should try it bro. Anyway grate job👍
nice model
Well done. I wonder whether the user was plugging in an external USB-C monitor whilst diagnosing the screen issue. Doesn't explain the blown SIM IC unless that is also controlling the USB-C port near to it.
Sorin think you right ,fault customers connector tried one usb then the other regards Jim
Hello🤝Sorin next level repar complete masterpieces 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👋👋👋👋👋✌
@24:00 there is loose thin ribbon cable under the motherboard next to the fan on the left side of the MB, I think that was touching and causing 240mA short...
this short brown flat cable have contacts on bottom only, and is flat straight under motherboard. it is not Shroedinger cat in box 🙂
Hi Sorin, another great video 👍👍👍.
Can you please tell me what usb c charger you use in this video?
Keep uploading and thanks for sharing your knolage.
Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
Ioll bro awesom work
Hello 👋
Thank you for video
I think
The problem was that the cable connecting the main motherboard and the secondary motherboard "was not connected correctly"
I guess those 2 ICs (SM 5508) are responsible to provide the main power rail voltage to the USB output, for power delivery capability. It talks to the PD Controler (via the data pins maybe), and when it shorts out, it may feed the USB voltage (5V) back into the output of the 3.3V LDO chip, where it was supposed to have only 3.3V, not 5V.
lolllllllllllll this is insane!!!!!!!!!! what a jobbbbb
SM3350 is the SD card reader IC, on my mom's old HP (6th gen intel) the SD reader chip got shorted and started heating the entire right side of the laptop, so they can die like that but rarely.
new t shirt " here we have nuffing" lol :)
2:38 on second board you measured wrong coil for 71 ohms they may be same 3:11
Très Bonne réparation Mes SORIN yees!!!!!!
How about checking the resistance of the removed chip and see if it's 10 ohm.
Why didn't you replace the SIM card chip because it was getting warm but wasn't the issue.. It wasn't pulling any current so what's the deal there?
which is the flux you have to the right of the laptop in the video (towards the end) ?
Speculation: customer had issue with the original display so tried to connect external monitor to those USBs, overloaded them one after another?
"I have a thermal camera, why am i not using it?!"
Story of my life in repairing PCs... I don't have a camera, but many of my injuries are also when i forget i have certain tools.
Did he plug the charger in ? If its like apple you have to plug in the charger 1 st time after screen change, im not trained in Samsung laptops so don't know.
nice repair, but should have returned the 3rd ic because it can be used with some functionality that now is lost
Neata!
It would help to know what was wrong with the other board. Presumably if it wasn't faulty you would have just swapped it in.
Same, I tried to just unpin and pin the display cable from the display board, and now my laptop is dead. Service centre people are just saying we need to replace it is not repairable. I wish i could send you my laptop so that we can check what exactly is wrong.
I believe the only thing that 3 chips are burnt is because someone else worked on the device. This is why they sent it to the expert🙂
yes, i think too they have dumb 19v charger with usb-c (2 wires) and they short this smal smart chargers chips (need 4 wires for PD or QC communication) to try charge battery
Because you reseat the cables the short gone...
how are you sir i believe that you are fine. my Toshiba laptop the fine is running and the power light its there but the screen its not showing please help sir
Should be written on all new screens in big red letters DO NOT ATTEMPT SCREEN REPLACEMENT WITHOUT UNPLUGGING BATTERY *AND* CHARGER :)
Hi Sorin, even if i don't understand the very true problem... maybe resetting the big flat cable and the little flat cable under the mobo near to the fan that cause the short? ... otherwise we have a working pc thats all good job, bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
That was the backlight supply for the keyboard. Che pena per me vedere tutto cio 😮😅
What would you like to say, how sad? we have to be humble... I don't think it was the cause, but I was saying that having left it under the mobo the backlight flat Sorin could have made a short...@@ictrepairs6963
Hello everyone, this is your daily dose of "We have picture!!"
Early start
@13:40 It's MOSFET.
Replace it with fuse
Hi, I think it’s the orange cable was not well plugged
Good morning
I don’t understand why you did have .020mha without that chip for the card reader. If you put it back it’s still working?
nobody understand why, that's why he plugging and testing all connected cables one by one, most likely orange flat cable has bad connection on long connector
Basic question, 5 or 10omhs is consideredpw resistance on a capacitor?
Should be in the Kohm or Mohm range?
And how come you're injecting only 0.3V, not even 1V
Capacitor on DC voltage has pretty much no resistance when empty (essentially a short). This increases with its charge. So could be 5 ohms or 10 ohms depending on when you look (the ohmmeter's voltage will inevitably charge it slowly).😉 Also which time are you looking at the 0.3V? It's hard to see with the reflection, but the right number is the voltage, set to a bit below 3V. The left reading is the current. Most ICs work with 3.3V or 5V logic, so it's a pretty safe level for testing as long as the current is strictly limited and only for a short time.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
It was the reflection from the sun so thought the DC power supply had only 0.3V and not 3V, you are right.
It's a bit confusing regarding voltage injection because other repairers use voltage injection tool which you set only the voltage and no amps at all and generally say it's safe to inject 1V or 1.2, 1.3V.
I guess that's for a full dead short.
If it's not a dead short like zero resistance I guess it's ok to inject 3V on a 3.3V volt line, that's my understanding, and with limited amps, like 0.5 or so
@@emmanuelvalmas5648 Yep, can't tell for sure, but to me it's basically like "We know there should be 3.3V, we know there is some resistance, so let's see where it gets hot. You can't really do this testing with 1V, as 0.8V or less would be considered low/false/not active (read: components shouldn't react at all).
Like for the burned finger! :D
Great Job. Hello Sorin in 22:20 min which pin of Power Switch connector do you take to start the motherboard?
15:24 Vampyre mentioned.
sharp sun is always enemy in eyes 😀
We have picture. LOL
Crazy that so many USB-charging chips were dead, simultaneously. Could it be that this is the result of an attack with a USBkill stick?
Crazy
"Let's come with alcohol"
I thought candies first, unfortunately they were just screws.
OK!
so did Sorin lose two years of life on this one🤣🤣😂😂😄😄
I'm definitely not buying a thermal camera now 😂
I think this was a static discharge caused by some USB device, I can't think of another reason
I'd rather bet on a dodgy charger of sorts. Big Clive had a few really nasty "constructs" a while back that wouldn't even necessarily qualify as real PSU of sorts. Maybe this even fried the screen, too, so nobody ever suspected anything USB related.
Old habits die hard I am afraid.
The frequent power on and power off made something with the ssd! A disc check started. Please remove the ssd before repairing the pc.
its just software thing on fresh installation without user files and settings
😂😂😂😂 you have burn your finger "Better than factory" 😂😂👍🏻
The fan is taking the current
when is on then yes, but there is control by pwm chip to drive BLDC motor and reading fan speed back to pwm circuit
In some times you need to but the motherboard out first 😢
Maybe was always the cable haha
How can you remove 3 chip but work hassss
May be costumer try to replace the display without disconnecting the battery
why not just swap the motherboards over if you have a spare?
because the spare motherboard is faulty for sure , otherwise the repair shop would have switch those very quick and easy
@@1t729 if its faulty how can you trust any readings off it then or use it for spares if you don't know what's blown on it?
SM3350M was mayby ok and not resoldered...
idk why but i never had big big problem with Samsung laptops they usually on cool side! :) but this sound like customer did bad job ok enough of talk .... but lets watch video :)
Maybe the customer used a dodgy USB cable to charge his phone and it burnt the chip
give me your thermal camera if you don`t need it🤣🤣🤣

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲
the chips for reason i thing
5 ohm not 5 v
again burn finger :)))
Noy only the phone. The pens, mouse, keyboard do not work.
