So back in the Peak District for the first wild camp of 2023 in a winter wonderland with sub zero conditions. It was an absolutely fantastic night and definitely what I needed!!
I had a superb night and I hope this is a start to a fantastic year of great adventures that you will all want to share with me too!

It was good to meet you in person, after watching many of your videos from last year..
It sure was a perfect night and location for it, especially for a first wild camp of the year, and getting both a perfect sunset/sunrise..(and even some snow)
Although, that 40mph wind after around 8pm with a -10 windchill was brutal! 🥶

Cheers Paul!! Was an amazing camp to be fair had such a great time! Conditions were perfect, only got down to -7° and did have some wind during the night with a wind chill of -10° but only while I was out getting the photos so made no difference. Otherwise it was very enjoyable in the tent with the right kit. Loved it!!
Cant believe I got rewarded with both golden hours too... just what I needed it really was.

Hello, I have enjoyed every bit of this video, the Sunset, the Sunrise and the Drone footage, excellent work. I have a request to make, would you be able to show us your equipments please like; camp light, GoPro, voice recoding system, battery recharging system, Which Drone was it? Highly appreciate. Hi Chris, looked like a great camp in difficult conditions. I thought the land owner had banned campers from that area? Maybe it's during the warmer months they move people on. Looking forward to your next adventure atb Taff 🤠👊

Well technically wild camping is obviously 'not aloud' anyway in the Peak District, but yes the Gamekeepers and especially the ones from the Moscar estate were patrolling a lot more right after restrictions were lifted around April 2021. A lot of people were getting caught out so to speak more in places like Bamford Edge and especially after people who dont usually do wild camping were taking ridiculous tents up, bbqs, lightning ground fires etc and all the things you shouldn't be doing. But since then I went on a day hike around August 2021 on Bamford Edge at 0930 the sun had been up for hours and there were 9 tents still up there!! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

Hi Simon... such a great spot and more than a familiar area for me too. Have spent quite a few nights in different locations on that Edge but have always wanted to go there so took advantage of the week day and conditions. Definitely paid off and was so glad I got rewarded with both golden hours too!

@@TrevsOutdoorsandWellbeing Mate.... that means such a lot to know I may have even had the slightest impact on getting you back out there! Last year was a propper weird one for me and even though I got put on quite a few day hikes (but didn't film really anything) I only managed to get out on one camp which was my last Crinkle Crags video with Paul. Not just cus of my injury rehab but multiple reasons which couldn't be helped.
BUT after being on this camp myself it has made me just wana get back out there asap absolutely loved it!! Plus the weekend after getting back and making my video I was just smiling all weekend and felt great!
Definitely get yourself back in the tent mate and I honestly hope to God you have a fantastic time when you do. Even if you dont wana take the camera just go and enjoy it ❤️

Very familiar area for me too, have spent many nights in various spots on that Edge but that location has been on my list for a while. Used the unexpected week night and conditions to my advantage as knew it would be extremely quiet 👌🏻🥶

This time of the year is the best time for me and conditions are amazing, as long as you have the correct gear it's enjoyable. Don't think id fancy being out in it without the right kit though haha.

I travelled a little of SE Asia from October to December. Found it extremely difficult to settle when I got back, but have that under control now. I think. Back to work in a few weeks so I'm running out of time.

What size of stuff sack do you use for your sleeping bag?

For this particular bag, the Rab Ascent 900 I used a Sea To Summit stuff sack, but its also a compression sack so you can really squeeze it down like a normal dry bag then compress it down even more with the straps. It is made of eVENT material and goes far smaller than the standard stuff sack you get. For this bag I use the size 'M' .... they do XS / S / M / L / XL I believe size 'M' is 14 litres.
