These vlogs are great examples of how easy it is to have an adventure if you pack the right kit and keep placing one foot in front of the other. Great stuff!
Great vid Athena 👍. Loved the views from your tent when you first opened up the door in the morning 👌. Good shout with the leave no trace. I didn't realise just how big the icicles where till your hand came into shot 😲. Thanks for sharing. Atb Sconja 👍
You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that Kinder is so accessible. I live less than 3 miles from Hayfield, and after watching the video, I am now inspired to get back out wild camping.....well done !!!
Stumbled across your channel and must say how enjoyable it is to watch as well as seeing the pleasure you gain from your Solo Wild Camping experiences. Great camera work and some beautiful pictures all blended with a perfect background music choice. You are very talented... look forward to seeing more.
Another brilliant video Athena! And it brought back memories for me as my BF and I hiked the same route up to Kinder Scout last spring and then down via the Grindsbrook Clough back to Edale. I remember all the beautiful heather and especially those two rocks where you camped - from a certain angle they look like kissing birds :) You are a true inspiration and I also loved your "leave no trace" shoutout. It's so so important! Thanks for sharing.
So refreshing to see a real map in use. (In contrast with slavish attachment to electronics) That alone made my day, but it was just icing on the cake. Keep it up.👍
Excellent video, Athena. Jacob's Ladder is a bugger in anything other than perfect dry conditions, so well done, girl. Count me in, and I hope your channel goes stellar. Stay safe.
You're going to be a superstar Athena without any effort at all on youtube. There's nothing I can add. This place is going to get swamped and the dialogue between you and I simply won't exist. All the very best to you. Mark
@@RambleFamily That's alright Athena. Here we go then! If you want to watch a Wye Explorer adventure feel free in the free will universe bit.ly/2FOxL3Q Peace!
I really enjoy your films Athena, such a sense of freedom! This one brought back many happy memories of rock climbing on Kinder south edges in my youth. Thank you!
Beautiful name, beautiful countryside, beautifully filmed, awesome determination! You froze your butt but it was all worth it, wasn't it? Great work. Thank you Athena.
Great to see another video from you and also to hear of your thoughts along the way. Well done for getting out there so early on in the year - and for braving the temperature (or lack of). All the best.
Love the naturalness and sense of freedom your videos have. I like the little touches of showing us you have no problems stirring your soup with a twig, and, after you get your shot, you don't edit out the part where you turn back to retrieve your camera! Good stuff.
Loving you’re channel. Brilliant videos. I’ll be taking the big step soon enough. I’m v nervous but also v excited. Few more bits to get first and I’m a go go go. Lol. Peace to All. ❤️🙏
Great video! I too struggle with cold hands and the worst part is always putting the tent away in the morning, especially if it's cold AND wet! I need to get another wild camp penciled into my calendar soon!
What a great video, i have walked and mountain bike this area all my life. So nice to see this and great job on leaving no mess behind and promoting that. As they say take only photos and leave only footprints
Hi, as lockdown started, I ended up searching for hiking videos on YT which led me to your channel. It also moved me to want to try wild camping. So I have a request, please can you do a video on how to pick a wild camping spot? Not so much the level ground, not across a footpath or in a dry riverbed bit, more what locations around the UK tolerate it and if there are places to avoid? I live just off the south of the Peak District so I am considering starting in the White Peak or Staffordshire Roaches. Thanks in hope 👍😁
Great effort and well filmed. I have two daughters aged 10 and 11 and have taken them on a few wild camps over the years, not that I’ve ever filmed, only taken photos. This video will inspire them even more. I’ve added you on Instagram. Keep up the good work.
Great vid Athena! I often head over to the Lakes and hammock camp in the forests there but I have a new tent to test out so Kinder Scout might be a good shout.
Well done, the nights must have seen long that time of the year. Spent 3days up their last week wild camping mermaids pool and the small woods on Kinder River. First time but will be back. Its a very special place!
This video reminded me of a very foggy winter walk years ago with a friend. I think we must have been on Kinder and wanted to find the top of Jacobs Ladder. We navigated really carefully across the moor and amazingly found the path with no deviation whatsoever. I have just texted my friend to ask him whether he remembers it. I put all the contents of my hall outside the front door this morning so I could wash the floor. Popped my head out the door to see whether it is raining and several pairs of boots were flung about all over the place. Next door's cat was rolling about wrestling with a boot!
brilliant vid and great to see a woman doing this kind of stuff, also brought back some pleasant memories for me, must be at least 30yrs since I was up there well past time I revisited the peaks
Thank you for sharing, an enjoyable video, subd 👍. I’ve yet to visit there, I think it will be one to add to our list of wild camps for this year for me and my son.
well said on leaving no trace you have a great attitude and mindset. carry it in carry it out looking forward to my next trip in May now after watching this video.
Seen you washing the mug in the beck reminded me of a time I lived in the lakes Athena ,I washed my tin mug like that while fishing.Walked upstream about twenty yards and a dead calf rotten was in the stream! Yuk! ATV to you

Love a good camp on Kinder. If you go back up, you should try near the waterfall (Kinder Downflow). It's beautiful on a clear, windless night. I'd recommend the walk down Crowden Clough on the way back too, just like Grindsbrook but a little more challenging in my opinion :)
Hi Athena just come across your'e channel & subbed of course..beautiful place is Kinder i get up there pretty regular camping & walking aswell as a lot of the peak district. The woolpacks is one of my fav places up there to camp too,so many little places inbetween the rocks to get out of sight.lovely video & well filmed..tfs & atb..Andy.
Hi Athena, How encouraging to see another female wild camper getting out there and doing it ( unfortunately so many of the gals on the Scottish Hillwalking & Wild Camping FB page talk about how scared they are to go alone which is a real shame). It's always great to compare notes and gear so enjoyed your wee overnight adventure. Atb for future trips and if you're in Scotland and fancy a group camp we're all out regularly. See you out there A PS> Check out Homemade Wanderlust channel ( if you haven't already ) as she's very inspirational.
Thanks for the comment! I have actually been scared in the past when wild camping alone, but the more I do the better it gets. It also helps to know the area for me! I'll definitely check out that page and the TH-cam channel. Thanks again!
@@RambleFamily Well done on getting out there. But don't get too complacent, there are malicious people in the world.
