Anything that’s a ‘flow’ activity will help the head. Whatever absorbs all your attention will work. Motorcycles, bushwalking, carpentry, kayaking, music, sailing, hunting, painting, welding, cycling, brisk walking, yoga, … and let yourself get into that flow without distractions (phone off, no news, no music, focus only on the activity). And it’s advisable to stop all consumption of mainstream news … it just does your head in, and you won’t really miss it.
In 2020, I experienced one of the most difficult times in my life. I lost a job that I really enjoyed, the pandemic was ramping up and I became more socially isolated, and the anxiety I had under control started to affect me again, to the point where I started to slip into that well of mental health troubles many of us are familiar with. But a friend and I started hiking and camping more. I started to get out and walk in nature and hike on my own too, and every time I went outside, I felt the anxiety and despair slipping away. Life makes so much more sense out in nature. You feel more connected to yourself, you’re able to be in the moment, living for that moment and that moment only. And that’s really what matters at the end of the day. Live for the moment, live to appreciate what you can, and try not to dwell on the not so great things in life. Nature will absolutely bring you healing-I’ve experienced it firsthand myself. Looking forward to continuing to watch your camping adventures! All the best! 🙏👍😁
Thank you for sharing your journey! It helps to know that being outdoors has helped others so much. I'm glad you found a way through your bad times and I hope things are better now.
Stay positive pal a lot of people are Struggling with mental health and not saying anything about it i think you are doing the right thing camping I like your channel and keep it up
There are a lot of people that never talk about it, as it can be really hard to be honest about, with so many seeing mental health as a weakness. Thank you mate, I'm enjoying camping alot.
Subscribed! Natural, engaging, beautifully filmed, a joy to watch. As you said (and we should remind ourselves) the journey is about the now and being grateful for what we have. The poem by William Davies nails it - What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. No time to stand beneath the boughs, And stare as long as sheep or cows. No time to see, when woods we pass, Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty's glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can, Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare. ATB Fuzzy!
New subscriber here and as a fellow sufferer of mental health I totally agree spending time in nature has helped me loads. I started Bikepacking and wild camping two years ago and I too wish I done this years ago. Plus spending time in nature is scientifically proven in trials to help mental health and well-being. Look forward to following your adventures 👍
Total Respect to you Lee...enjoy your journey of healing...mother nature will give you the peace needed to see your inner strength & courage...less self beating & more self love is a game changer...keep sharing & welcome to the world of exploration...🌟💪🤞💞🐾🧚♀️🐣🐤🐥
Excellent video! Very much looking forward to seeing your future camping adventures. I think it will have such a positive effect on your mental wellbeing. Being surrounded by nature has so many benefits to us. The Japanesd even have a term for it, "Shinrin-yoku" or "forrest bathing". They started using it as a medical treatment back in the 80s I believe to treat anxiety and depression. Keep it up man and dont forget the charger next time 😄
Stay outdoors my friend. Climb all the mountains in uk try some canoeing, kayaking and some fishing take it all slowly and smile. Sending love from a fellow camper
Great video! I know for sure that the outdoors can make people physically and mentally healthier. I notice that I feel a lot better when I am outdoors a lot. The closer to nature the closer to yourself. I know for sure that the outdoors and especially wild camping can be a life saver for you and many others and myself included. I hope to see more of your outdoor adventures!
I just got back from walking the trails in the midlands for a few days, its a great replacement for self halm due to brambles etc, it lets you clear your mind and be alone but in a healthy way rather than sitting in bed telling yourself youre depressed and letting it take hold, it also helped me with interacting with others due to the people you meet on the trail. All the best Fuzzy keep your chin up and keep helping yourself in anyway you can, you only let it win when you give up and then you pass it onto others
Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I have had my share of mental ups and downs in my life. What helps me is getting outdoors and also eating clean. Keep your head up brother we uave your back ☦️
I suffered from panic anxiety and depression for, well, decades now. Medication controls it. These days I camp on a cot on my balcony, overlooking a landscaped courtyard with a large pool. It provides fresh air and a bit of a change but it is nothing like a true wild camp.
Hi Fuzzy, I could probably make whole video about my life story, I always struggled from a young age but always loved sports and the outdoors, when I was in school I started going to the old acid house parties and you can guess I spent a fair few years on drugs, I always blamed my mental health, long story short I’ve suffered with Schizophrenia for over 22 years now, I’m lucky as I can control it now but find you just have to live with it. I think I’m always on my own there’s no one else like me, I’m about 12 years clean now and have done over 37 marathons or longer up to 54 miles quite a few triathlons and love to get out in the outdoors, keep up the good work
It will help mate it’s not a a quick fix it’s a quick fist plus long fix just something about it that help clears the head just something about been in the wild under the stars keep it going it gets better everytime ya go 👍👌
Yes, but don't go like a bull at a gate. Just take it easy and flow through the countryside, taking in all the smells, colors, textures, and movement expenditure as it comes. Don't set goals for distance etc., just meander through the countryside. The countryside is the human's natural environment; cities are grating with their concrete, steel and crazy noises. Enjoy... We have used camping and bushwalking (meander style) for most of our life to counter bouts of depression. The insanity of humanity living in the modern conditions smacks against what our bodies and mind were designed for. The simpler for us, the better. Clean fresh air etc....
Life is comp!icated, wild camping is about simplicity. Walk, eat, sleep, wake up and do it again. Love it! The old noggin can take a break wild camping. The answer to your question is right here in this video. I know you see yourself when editing but have you watched your entire video? The look in your eyes and the smile on your face says it all! Going home is always hard but think about planning for the next one and keep up with being grateful to be able to do so! Wild camping will save your life, if you let it. :) :). Thanks for being you, you have a wonderful camera presence and will help yourself and many others with your inspirational videos. :)
Good effort m8. just getting out the door is hard enough sometimes coming from someones who suffers severely with mental health. Keep your head up buddy
Enjoying your videos I'm the same as you watching other people camping . Bike packing etc very relaxing.Try your wild camping more often if it helps you nature may become your best friend in your struggles. Stay strong mate.
Keep on getting out there mate. Sometimes it's hard to get out there but it's always worth it when you find the peace and solitude for your mind. Don't forget to look around and take it all in.
What a great vid. You have done an amazing job with captivating the viewer. Metal health is such a difficult thing and people find it so hard to help. Sadly most people run a mile from people with mental health issues. We should be helping each other. We love the outdoors and I always feel free and enlightened when I'm out there. Keep appreciating the world around us that's so important.
@LeeFuzzy you are doing so well and I know from my experience how hard it is. I want to send you a t shirt from our brand just to show we support you. I don't want you to think this is us promoting or anything so you don't need to wear it or mention it. We just like to give stuff away to people who we think deserve it and if we can help in a little way. Great content and look forward to watching more.
It’s been a pleasure watching you, your openness will help not only yourself but many who struggle with their own mental health. There are many who use the outdoors as a therapy and have done for many years. I think you have found the start of a path that will lead you to an inner peace. Enjoy every moment and thanks for the video.
I'm finding it hard to get out right now and my mental health has dropped again, but your comment reminded me that I need to get out there into that nature as soon as possible!
Getting out & being one with nature will always help. Iv lived alone for years but always feel renewed when I’m out in the countryside/ mountains camping. Keep doing what you’re doing. You seem like a really nice guy with a lovely family. Maybe we’ll meet out in the Peaks one day . 👍
Good on you chap keep going being outdoors in nature really makes a difference. What also helped me was I altered my diet and cut out all the crap sugar carbs etc and that turned me around really fast. Energy levels went up and my depression just went away. All the best and keep enjoying your camps 🙏👍
@@LeeFuzzy take a look at a chap homestead how TH-cam. It’s him that started me looking into changing my diet. It really has worked for me. All the best chap anyways 👍
Something about being outside, self sufficient, alone with your thoughts in nature really helps with mental illness, it's my go to happy place being out on trails running. Keep making videos keep adventuring 😊
I'm doing the same thing for my mental health mate, go up to peaks and wildcamp when I can afford the petrol. Or go nearby local sometimes. It's a great thing to do.
I think the city life can feel suffacating, getting out there into the country and experiencing some space and freedom should be something everyone tries at least once. I'm going to do this soon on my own and then eventually try and persuade my kids to come along with me. my goal is to eventually do this around the world.
Stay positive, always look for the positives, there are always there. The tent is strong and low, so good in wind. You seem to have bought good kit to keep you outside most of the year. I keep my kit in open tubs (it allows moisture out) I can quickly grab everything I need without forgetting stuff. I think the wildcamping will definitely help. It has me. If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to pass it on my experience to help you. I've been outside almost all my life, when I struggled, I wasn't going outside. I feel ive lost over 10 years, so I know what you mean. Watching this makes me excited for my next trip on Friday. Back Tor is between Hollins Cross and Lose Hill, I think you mean Great Tor? Great Video, keep 'm coming.
Thank you for the tips with the open tubs. I'm glad getting out wildcamping has helped you. It's good to know it helps so many others too. I also thought Back Tor is between Hollins Cross and Lose Hill, but there is a Trig point called Back Tor which is on Derwent Edge. See www.alltrails.com/en-gb/explore/trail/england/derbyshire/derwent-edge-back-tor-and-lost-lad and it shows the route I went. Very confusing, maybe its normally known as Great Tor. Anyway thank you mate, I hope you enjoy your next wild camp.
So pleased you got to have a more comfortable night out. We have always found just being outdoors a great help to us, we just love it and it looks like you do too. We’ve never wild camped but have walked and hiked (consecutive days over holidays etc) for years over the Peak District and Lake District fells - once you start you can’t stop and you’ll be venturing further than that I’m sure. 😊 So good for you physically and mentally. Keep going and thanks for sharing.
I’m sold after watching the first 3 minutes, you’ve got such an amazing character about yourself, stay positive and just take each day as it comes. Great video fuzzy I hope there’s more😃 some amazing places in the lakes, wales, scotland etc and you get to appreciate the subtle differences between all these places.
Just turned 40 mate and just been diagnosed always been ashamed best thing I've done is open up..camping really helps just started doing it myself it's brilliant therapy. Keep it up mate 👍👍
Mate your half way there some people can’t even leave the house You can’t beat talking to the camera about how your feeling and what your thinking this is therapy nature is healing fuzzy Ps your going to smash this TH-cam business ❤😊 take care trev
I’m struggling myself mentally. Can’t even get the energy to go out. Maybe after watching you I’ll push myself to get out. Thank you for sharing your film 👍😀
Good on you, mate. Proper impressive to get up and go full self-help in the face of mental illness. The beauty and loveliness of nature is a forever thing. Fashions and styles and ideas and even therapies come and go, but the natural world is a constant. I have CPTSD myself and find I can handle my box of frogs so much better for regular immersions in nature. And when I go bird watching my mind goes completely quiet. It's like magic. It's medication AND meditation all rolled into one. Wishing you every happiness, you deserve it.
I started my channel because of mental health. It helps alot, I have recently started doing wild camps on my channel to. But my main passion is abandoned mines. Exploring and adrenaline helps my mental health. Stay safe my friend
Really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing this. As someone who also struggles I can definitely relate, I find being outdoors helps to clear my mind, and camping takes away all the nonsense that we have around us in daily life. Just a night away can totally refresh our mindsets. I really hope you are doing ok, you seem like a very genuine and nice guy, I wish you all the best for the future No matter how hard each day can be, if we reach the next day, we have achieved something. I have pulled myself out of some extremely difficult times by just trying to reach the next day, and the next, and the next Hope to see more of your videos Take care 🙏
Great video and no doubt anyone that catches your uploads and videos will be inspired. Keep going you could be the next Haze outdoors. Take care and I’ll watch out for the bell notifications 👍
What an amazing Chanel good luck your doing really well with this channel, I really enjoy watching this it I'm sure it's gonna help others who are struggling ...
Hi Fuzzy. What a refreshingly honest video. A someone who suffers with mental health issues especially the last couple of years, I can absolutely guarantee that wild camping works wonders. Mainly because you pretty much always have something to do which means you are always in the moment. Then of course you are surrounded by nature and the starry skies which all help to stay relaxed. You will have anxious moments when things go wrong, or you get soaked or hear animal noises in the woods (everyone gets freaked by those in the beginning) but they are few and far between. Mostly it's brilliant. You also come across as a really nice fella and I've subbed to watch how you get one. All the best. Oh, quick tip. Stick a spare charger in the inside pocket of your sleeping back when you get home so if you forget it, you always have that in the sleeping bag, which you'll never forget (hopefully!) Take care, all the best. Martin.
Thank you for your kind words Martin and great advice about the charger! I'm glad that so many of you have confirmed it does really help. I'm finding it so exciting at the moment and am glad its not just a passing joy but a lasting one. Thanks again.
What a lovely video, you seem like a good soul, my man. As a sufferer I empathise and also can’t speak highly of the healing power of nature for mental illness. Some stretching and yoga and meditation upon the hill might also help. Keep on keeping on my friend, you’re not the thoughts inside your head.
Just started watching your videos Lee you're a positive guy mate stay positive yeah wild camping and hiking will make you feel a lot better and it gets you out in the beautiful hills and mountains buddy you be fine mate stay positive take care yeah 👍💯
Ey up me duck. No that's not a joke, this is genuinely how I start most of my videos and also what I call most people so purely a coincidence, lol. *Nottingham born and bred though I'm now just over the border in Derbyshire. I came across your channel and this video by chance and am glad I watched it. I'm also a life long sufferer of mental health and occasionally talk about it on my channel as I'm a strong believer in getting people to talk, especially men. I think camping, walking, anything outdoors is definitely a massive help for mental health so yes I think it will help you tremendously as will getting that vital vitamin D from the sunlight. Maybe we could do a meet up and camp together sometime fella. Ay a good'un me owd. 👍🙂
Ey up me Duck! :D Glad to meet you and thank you for taking the time to share your story. It helps to know I'm not alone in this, so thank you. It is so important for men to talk and I hope by showing others, I can help at least one man open up. I will check out your channel!
I'll be going there soon, no idea where im gonna park or camp but i'll just turn up and work it out. I would like to have an open fire when i go, to keep me warm at night if nothing else.
Nice one Fuzzy, ya just got another sub to follow U on ya journey...!✔️ I've only got half through & gonna have to go walk the mutt in a mo, but lmoa -"No charge cable...!" 😯🤯🤣 I did the same thing a few camps back, but once I got over the intial shock / horror of the situation & having no means of communication, I actually had a pleasantly quiet time & found other & probably better things to do...!!!😄👍 Look forward to more, keep up the good stuff...!👊
Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one to forget something vital haha. I had downloaded a netflix movie I wanted to watch as well, but glad It was all about the nature instead. :)

I got a down bag & also Fathom400 synthetic & it boils me...!🥵😂 I'm hooked now, so gonna sort some scran & be back to join ya 4 dinner...!🙂👍
Hey fuzzy just come across your channel and watched this video and love it mate , love your positivity and chilled vibe. I myself suffer with mental health and wild camping helps me massively😊
Good on you mate, for me I find wild camping really grounds you being surrounded by nature. Keep it up. It's kept me sane over the years 👍👍. Just subbed you and gave a gollow on insta ⛺️⛺️⛺️⛺️
Don't let your mental health disrupt your time with nature and yes it should help you but only if don't let the illness get on top you are in charge of your mental illness show who's boss best of luck

Great video, inspiring, hope you don’t mind shared you video in Peak District Wild camping, more people need to know about mental illness especially with men as we are supposed to be strong 💪🏻 but everyone needs a bit of help now and again, keep it up mate
Just subscribed. Would love to be still wild camping but my allergies get unbearable late May through to early July leaving me with not much time with good weather. I wild camped for 21 days this May before having to go home and I wish I didn't have to. It really does help with mental health to be out in nature. I feel all the positive effects wearing off now that I'm home for some time lol. All the best to you and keep getting out there if you're able to.

Keep going. Well done. I’m sure you will benefit from your camping escapades. Good luck for the future
Thank you Daphne!
Looking forward to my first night out next week, keep it up fuzzy you are an inspiration pal.
Fantastic, I hope you enjoy it! Thank you :)
Getting out & being one with nature will always help. Iv lived alone for years but always feel renewed when I’m out in the countryside/ mountains camping. Keep doing what you’re doing. You seem like a really nice guy with a lovely family. Maybe we’ll meet out in the Peaks one day . 👍
Thank you for being so open. Little tips in there I'm going to hang on to. Thanks.
Good on you chap keep going being outdoors in nature really makes a difference. What also helped me was I altered my diet and cut out all the crap sugar carbs etc and that turned me around really fast. Energy levels went up and my depression just went away. All the best and keep enjoying your camps 🙏👍
I'm trying my best to eat better and have been trying new recipes lately. Hopefully it should help thank you.
@@LeeFuzzy take a look at a chap homestead how TH-cam. It’s him that started me looking into changing my diet. It really has worked for me. All the best chap anyways 👍
Great video amazing views, stay positive you are doing amazing ❤
Thank you so much 🤗
Something about being outside, self sufficient, alone with your thoughts in nature really helps with mental illness, it's my go to happy place being out on trails running. Keep making videos keep adventuring 😊
Thank you, I will!
Good lad get well tiger.
I'm doing the same thing for my mental health mate, go up to peaks and wildcamp when I can afford the petrol. Or go nearby local sometimes. It's a great thing to do.
Fuzzy, I enjoy wild camping, would love to do a meet up sometime, I’m in Tameside just past Glossop
What a lovely, warm and positive video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mama Nature warms anyones soul who is willing to massage her earth
If that sheep was to keep you up all night .. you’ve always got your . . 🤣 . . Shear-plugs !! 🤣😂😜
😆🤣
Just turned 40 mate and just been diagnosed always been ashamed best thing I've done is open up..camping really helps just started doing it myself it's brilliant therapy. Keep it up mate 👍👍
Mate your half way there some people can’t even leave the house
You can’t beat talking to the camera about how your feeling and what your thinking this is therapy nature is healing fuzzy
Ps your going to smash this TH-cam business ❤😊 take care trev
Thank you for these kind words Trev! :)
I’m struggling myself mentally. Can’t even get the energy to go out. Maybe after watching you I’ll push myself to get out. Thank you for sharing your film 👍😀
I hope things get a little easier for you soon. Keep pushing forward!
Thank you for the kind words Larry. I'm glad yiou find happiness in bird watching. Nature truly is a healer :).
@@LeeFuzzy Also, birds are sane and therefore a good influence :)
I started my channel because of mental health. It helps alot, I have recently started doing wild camps on my channel to. But my main passion is abandoned mines. Exploring and adrenaline helps my mental health. Stay safe my friend
Heya Fuzzy! Doc here. Really loving these videos! Glad to see ya still keeping up the fight to raise awareness for Mental health! You are a legend! 🦆
Hey Doc! Just glad I've found something I love again. :D
@@LeeFuzzy Also watch out for those Were Sheep! 😄
Hey luv your channel ! Work in mental health so totally get why your doing this... enjoy the 1 to 1 with mother earth . X
Really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing this.
As someone who also struggles I can definitely relate, I find being outdoors helps to clear my mind, and camping takes away all the nonsense that we have around us in daily life. Just a night away can totally refresh our mindsets.
I really hope you are doing ok, you seem like a very genuine and nice guy, I wish you all the best for the future
No matter how hard each day can be, if we reach the next day, we have achieved something. I have pulled myself out of some extremely difficult times by just trying to reach the next day, and the next, and the next
Hope to see more of your videos
Take care
🙏
It certainly helped me, so I hope it does the same for you. Good luck on your journey

What an amazing Chanel good luck your doing really well with this channel, I really enjoy watching this it I'm sure it's gonna help others who are struggling ...
Thank you. I hope it helps!
Thank you for those kind words Paul! I will definitely try meditation when I'm out wild camping next. I usually do it at home but that's a great idea!
Just started watching your videos Lee you're a positive guy mate stay positive yeah wild camping and hiking will make you feel a lot better and it gets you out in the beautiful hills and mountains buddy you be fine mate stay positive take care yeah 👍💯
Thank you for the kind words Andrew. I hope this is the first of many more camps to come. :)
@@LeeFuzzy
Cheers fella. I've not put up much of my camping as I kept much of it private but there's some on there and certainly more to be put up 👍
I'll be going there soon, no idea where im gonna park or camp but i'll just turn up and work it out. I would like to have an open fire when i go, to keep me warm at night if nothing else.
I'd think it would be hard to be depressed surrounded by all that beauty and physically challenging your body. I hope you find peace, my friend. 💙🌈
love it mate! keep on keeping on!
Thank you!
Hey buddy! Nice to meet ya. New subscriber here. Please do more of these. :)
Thank you, i will try :)
@@LeeFuzzy Unless it p-ssing hard & Ur tent bound, who needs netflix...!😄 I'm south east, but really wish that I was up there or in Wales...!🙏😄 Ur OEX 900 was in the breathable storage bag, which is huge, did it not arrive in the compression sack...!? Hey fuzzy just come across your channel and watched this video and love it mate , love your positivity and chilled vibe. I myself suffer with mental health and wild camping helps me massively😊
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad camping helps you too!
It's helping me..
Yes it will help you
Good on you mate, for me I find wild camping really grounds you being surrounded by nature.
Just came across ya channel brilliant stuff proper down to earth and up there with all the other wildcamping channels atvb Darren 👍

@@LeeFuzzy ya welcome Lee, keep doing what your doing not only is this helping you it's also inspiring other people watching your channel to get out there 👍
"Life is a grand adventure. Go out and explore!" 🚶🎒
Great video, inspiring, hope you don’t mind shared you video in Peak District Wild camping, more people need to know about mental illness especially with men as we are supposed to be strong 💪🏻 but everyone needs a bit of help now and again, keep it up mate
I don't mind at all. The more the message gets out the better. Thank you!
Wow, that is a lot of wild camping! That's amazing, where did you go?
