    Hey guys, it’s Dale Winson from Patricia Ann. Just watched your video, great job! Both on the video and making at the Cabo. You should be proud of yourselves! You got out there and you did it. Well done.

      Thanks guys! We recently completed the clipper route back to Newport and heard about your preparations for the South Pacific. If you need anything 3D-printed I can help you with that!

    Btw, regarding your reacher sail, the clew is the part of the sail where you attach the sheets. The tack is where you attach to the bow.
    Nice video!
    Thx

      That's totally right! But since it's symmetrical "clew" is written on both ends so in the heat of the moment I said what I read!

    I wanted to give both of you shout from a neighbor in Long Beach. I'm new to boating myself and planning a trip to Ensenada. Any advice for this trip ? I really enjoyed all your SoCal trips, Catalina and ext. Keep up the great work on your video's. Good luck in Mexico, I'll be watching.

      Yes! My advice for ensenada is to plan the weather window. When spring time comes around there's always weather systems that generate 20-30 knots and small craft advisories. Our first time going to Ensenada we got caught in one of these systems and it was a "trial by fire" situation.
      If you're wondering about immigration, it's pretty straightforward if you check into Baja Naval. They will walk you to the port captain and immigration. They charge a fee for this service but if it's your first time it is worth it.
      There aren't any major navigation obstacles other than the coronado islands so the trip is pretty straightforward. Need advice on anything else other than these topics?

    Have you tried using a spinnaker

    • @SailingAmbrosia
      @SailingAmbrosia  ปีที่แล้ว

      We tried using our spinnaker for the first time on this passage but we didn't know how to use the spinnaker pole. So we tried flying it dead downwind and eventually broached (It wasn't ugly) but we dumped the sail in the water trying to get out of that situation. That's probably what prompted that curious finn whale to come up and check us out!

    What flag are you flying above the Brazilian flag?

    • @SailingAmbrosia
      @SailingAmbrosia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sharp eyes! That's our personal flag. We're pretty sure we've been sailing with the order wrong (courtesy flag first). Anyways, our personal symbol is a native southwest symbol. When different anasazi tribes would roam and leave behind a village they would inscribe one of the spirals on a rock (indicating the village was abandoned) - once they established a new village a runner would go back and complete the other spiral (indicating a new village has been established) and leave an arrow indicating the direction. We thought it was fitting for a sailboat since we're always dropping the anchor somewhere new.

    Regularly check your oil,transmission fluid and coolant levels.Good idea to look at your engine while you are running your engine for leaks or a loose fan belt.please don’t make Sam agree with what you say all the time 🥴I do like you both though.oh good idea to check your packing box,it’s on your prop shaft right behind your transmission.

      We have a V-drive transmission. The stuffing box is underneath it and nearly impossible to access. You'll see it in an upcoming video.

    You need to work on your camera skills. Especially keeping the camera on what’s interesting longer, which is everything you’re seeing not narrating what you see! Just saying

    Way too much talking into the camera,too much information about the wind condition.The whale footage was pretty good 👍not fun to hear constant complaining about the sailing conditions, hull speed is a little interesting 😊I know you are still learning what’s the best content to show.I’m not trying to condemn you but help you.Try to show more of your boat and the ocean and everything else.I’m going to subscribe and watch your progress 👍
