How I Lived 100% Off-Grid For 8 Months Straight (Unlimited Freedom!)

  • This is a simple video breakdown of how I've lived off-grid non-stop for the past eight months. Along with some inspiration & motivation to help get out there and doing this for yourself.
This lifestyle of true freedom was not easy to achieve. And took me several years to get right. And I'm still improving upon it. Because the rewards and befits are worth every it!
This true freedom I get to experience, from all the congestion of society. Freedom away and from any government if I chose. Freedom from the power grid. And freedom away from anyone else whenever I want! It's an amazing, and at times, very scary feeling!

Hello & welcome! I'm Daniel aka "Adventureman Dan." I've been living on the edge, from one adventure to another for the past nine years. Stating in Central California with my first GoPro, through SoCal, Baja, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Alaska and throughout the whole USA. But for the past five years on my sailboat "Adventureborne" I'm open to unlimited possibilities of where I can go, and what I can do!

      Make a plan now.
There will ge a lot of cheap boats next year and even free ones just to get rid of them.
If you need money to buy a boat then buy XRP.
It will be the new reserve currency.

Great video and information Dan! I've proven to myself that I can not only live on a 10ft jon boat, but live happily and with a budget of less than $50 a month. Less than that really, especially if I fish more. Since proving to myself that I can live with so little and be happy in such a small boat, I know that when I get a sailboat I will be even happier. As long as she is solid, floats and sails, it'll be a dream come true. The rest of features I consider luxuries that I will gladly improve over time.

Also, if you're handy with electrical appliances, you could make a dehumidifier for the cabin that would collect water from the atmosphere at the same time. The compressor, condenser, and evaporator are pretty easily harvested from cheap old beer fridges or mini fridges.

Your story is so unique as well, your boat is (from what i've seen at least) something that most people would NOT consider buying for full time cruising. You've given so much great stuff on how you've improved it. I think it kind of proves that as long as the hull is solid, put enough work in and you can cruise in any boat small or big. She has a 4 inch draft with leeboards with one sail and no motor. Two nine foot oars and not being in a hurry. I have had five years aboard at a lake marina while working a full time job and several small cruises. I love saltwater cruising. It a complete life full of wonder and danger. So alive when one with shallow water sailing.

I am trying to invent a reverse propellor generator DIY install.... i dont know what im doing. I just know what i want. This could provide 220 for laundry machine. so you could do your laundry with dishwasher as you sail. There are already small dishwashers that run 110 and small washers. you can install a dryer upside. You could put a large generator on you motor with its own clutch to run 220.00. people dont utilize the tech right in front of us.
you need more sour krout. if your getting alot of protein. you need to clean your system with that k... something. you gotta eat vegies just to clean out the proteins once in a while or your arteries clog. just learned that today.
i have been watching a bunch of sailing videos. non of you can yourselves. glass is not all gunna break and you could store them in a better state as they are all the same size. maybe we start a new canning diy and build a machine to do it ourselves for metal cans.
dont be afraid of canned chicken or spam!
I would still grow plants off the side of the boat. like tomatoes using fresh water run off when it rains and a timed sprinkler system.
I would find ways to collect the rain water. Like 3 upside down umbrellas ??? that went to a different tank.
another invention. put in 2 shop vacs and have an ice making machine. you can freeze salt water ice for one of the shop vacs, put it in reverse and have AC for the boat. still boil the salt water. clean the ice maker! have ice!!!! nobody has ace machines on thier boat. aloce centralized vac???
    HELLO!!!
you can use a small dishwasher to store your dishes.

Have you looked into alternative fuels like hydrogen to run the motor?

    • @handroids1981
      @handroids1981 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello.
I'm not Dan, perhaps he will answer. Unfortunately hydrogen is ... some far way off being an option. Very, very far off. That I know of it's been a "just around the corner" possibility since the 90s.
All sailing vessels are eagerly waiting for the lithium replacement. As lithium is STUPID HEAVY. Generally an electric cars weight is about those thirds its batteries.
Weight is the enemy of all sail craft.
      I hope that helps.

      Hey thanks Mike.
Hydrogen is not a viable option.

Oh and how do you travel, you can use a GPS? thanks! Me and my husband have been thinking about this and ive been wanting to start living on water and loooooove to swim and actually have to be in the water since recovering from a bad accident. Great video! Thank you!

Love this, subscribed! Ever been to Harbour Island, Bahamas? I spearfish from there every year around New Years. Would love to meet up sometime! It’s a great place to ring in the new year as well! I’ve also got a dock, would have to see if it’s big enough for your boat though 😂

Water is very good for radio wave propagation and I think that's why you can have so good cell cover in Bahamas. It's like the optimal environment for radio cover.

boat life is so diverse that it is difficult to explain. when you mentioned 100 of dollars per night for a marina i thought about the 200? 300? 400? dollar per YEAR i pay on the member sailclub in Linköping. of course if you go to stockholm or göteborg then it jumps to several 1000s per year for a summer / winter spot, which starts to get closer to the hotel price per night you mentioned. and yes there are marinas of different kinds (ie: the opera spot in göteborg) that also get to several 10s of dollars per night in Sweden.

What anchor do you use. Im sure you have a couple so i guess the question would be which one do you use the most? Im living aboard also (2 1/2yrs) and use mantus M1 #35. Its really overkill for my 28’ sailboat but I like the insurance of having an oversized anchor. Anyways I like the vids..keep em rollin out

New subscribers my brother. From the Isle of Man 🇮🇲🇮🇲🇮🇲. Iv been battling with leaving my home behind and setting sail. I’m 42 and I’m a little scared leaving my island 🇮🇲. Tho I really want to set sail to. I’m not scared of death one bit. Being an ex Isle of Man TT course. I don’t no why I’m scared of leaving to be honest. I don’t no if it’s cuz Iv two daughters 14 & 20. I alway said I’ll wait till they both finished high school. Iv started working on her again getting it ready as the last couple of years life’s been really crazy for me. So it’s time to get them dreams back in order. Great channel to mate

Excellent video, Dan. What advice would you have for someone who wants this lifestyle but has absolutely zero sailing experience? Where would you start?

    • @Adventureman_Dan
      @Adventureman_Dan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great question, I wish I got it more often. :)
I'd recommend crewing on other boats, finding an accomplished sailor and convincing them to mentor you, joining a sailing club, take a sailing class. Or just buy a boat and see what happens. :)

Long time no see, watched this video once again, stays fun. I was wondering how long you usually stay at one spot? Or do you move every (few) days already? I'd love the slow travel. And what about now the boat is done after the big work? You can really stay out all year round? Or would the hurricane season still force you to stop X months a year? That impacts it most for me as it would mean expensive flight tickets for 3 people.
