Wow your NIEGHBORS awesome!!! I have same powerwasher and pressure tech charged me $175 to fix that exact same problem. Fantastic thanks for sharing sir!!!
Never, never, never start and run these without attatching a wster hose to it. It can destroy your pump. This guy is suppise to be anexpert, but didn't realize one of the simplest things. The water acts as a lubricant and well, for the pump. Mine has done this 2 times. There is z design flaw in it. When tipped a little too much the oil gets in the gas. I took it to a certified small engine repair person whom explained this to me. Lowes doesn't sell these any more. I wander why?!?
The cleaning of the the bowl plug and getting the bowl to seat properly is all one has to do to get the engine to start and keep running. Just crimp off the fuel line. Tilt the washer on to its back to get at the bowl easier. Remove plug, blow out 3 holes with compressed air. Replace plug in bowl. Stand up the Washer unclamp the fuel line. and wallah the machine starts on the second pull
Guys I wanted to thank you for this video. I own several troy bilt products and they've all been great EXCEPT this one. I purchased this new then used it twice. The 3rd time it would not start. This was only 7 months after purchase. Returned it for warranty repair & was told the repair would not be covered. 125 dollars later for a new carb the explanation for not starting was "Something growing in the carb"... What grows in a gas environment?!? Anyway, took it back home and used it twice AGAIN and then it failed to start. I tried mech in a bottle without luck, then I stumbled across this video. I CAN NOT Thank you enough for sharing this video. That joker is working and I've stopped throwing stuff in the shop now LOL! Thank you! Time to get the green of the side of the house :)
use TruFuel vs your cheap lawnmower gas. It stays fresh for up to 2 years and you will not have any issues at all. The problem w pressure washers and snowblowers is that they only get used once or twice a year
Just fixed my pressure washer thanks to your neighbor, Joe, and this video. I did what he did (except for removing the carb). I found a little crud in the bowl, and cleared out the nut that goes in the bottom of the bowl. Started right up! Made me look like a hero to my wife. Thank you, Joe!! And thank you, for making the video!!
CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!!!!! Don't know why I didn't try spraying carb cleaner in there!!!!! I took the filter out and cleaned it.... tried starting it for an hour and a half...... was about to lug it onto my truck and bringing it in to have it serviced which would have cost me at least $250!!!! Sprayed carb cleaner like you did....started right up....used it ALL day!!!!!! But this time I added the stuff the repair center said to add to the gas so it doesn't happen again!!!! Thanks loads!!!!!!
Friend has a similar Troy Built pressure washer that was not starting. Ran across your video and just removed that bolt for the carb fuel bowl. Cleaned it and then it fired right up first pull ! Thanks for sharing this video.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Great news with starting it. Here's a category on my site for pressure washers. udoit.me/home-improvement/equipment-maintenance-repair/pressure-washer/
I had removed the carb and cleaned twice with no success. Then I found this video and found out that the bolt had holes in it. Once I unclogged those, it cranked on the first try. You guys saved me lots of time and money. Thanks!
The newer carbs comes with faulty needles that don’t seat correctly tight. The float should be level when holding upside down. I have purchased own and the crap Chinese made and still haven’t had a decent carb. Normally just clean the bowl needle and down but our world has gone too crap in a few years
I've never had issues with mine until today. Drained the bowl and inspected the float. All good. Removes air filter and a bit of starting fluid...it started. Thanks.
Craftsman washer was very hard to start, from new out of the box, last year. Would Not restart after shut down. Followed your advice and removed the float bowl. It was clean. I drained the tank, just in case the gas was bad. I then ran a tip cleaner up the bolt hole... gave it a good reem job. Looked like hot glue residue came out. Reassembled. Filled with new gas... started second pull. Shut down after a few minutes.... restarted on second pull. I connected to water. Started right up. When I squeezed the trigger, the engine sped up, and pressure washer runs fine! Thank You!
After multiple repair attempts, I was ready to though out my pressure washer. I previously cleaned the carburetor and checked for a spark but to no avail. After watching your video I realized the carburetor float bowl screw has two side holes, which are obscured by the gasket. It was clogged and after cleaning it with a needle and Carb Cleaner it fired back up! Thanks so much bro!!
Same crap happened to my new pressure washer, I used it once and put Sta-bil in there. Just about a week ago I pulled it out, hooked it up and trash! It is a year old but used for only 20 minutes of life. I got her started after getting her all high on starter fluid but I know I have work to do. I think I lucked out though... Over the winter a Caseys fuel station was built near me, they sell ethanol free fuel, that will be my small engine fill up joint. Thanks for the vid, glad you got it working.
During long storage, run all the gas out first or put a small amount of Trufuel in and run it for about 2 minutes. That stuff won't clog anything up and it won't draw moisture. You'll never have trouble again. Thanks for sharing the video!
Thank you so much! I just updated my article on my other video with your suggestion giving credit to you and including your quoted comment. I appreciate this input. udoit.me/my-pressure-washer-that-wont-stay-running/ - John
I have the same one and it sat for 6 months in the shed. Wouldn’t start so I watched your video and had my carb off and cleaned out and put back together in no time. Started first pull 👍👍 thanks a lot guys keep the tips coming. It’s called saving 150 bucks at a mower repair shop that is backed up two months!!
Another awesome story showing the power of video. Thank you so much for the feedback. This pressure washer drives me crazy. My other engines with gas sitting for 5 / 10 years starts up right away. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
I fixed mine once before. I tried to make it easy on myself and just drop the bowl. It was obvious the float was stuck. I cleaned the jet and carb cleaned the crap out of all of it and it fired fired up 1st pull. It's always been a 1 pull starter. I came here looking for an assembly video because the people that partially assembled mine put it on the base backwards. Which makes getting at the carb extremely challenging. Good video guys. I figured I'm going to have it half way torn down so I may as well get a little deeper into the project. This video will serve as a reference point for when I completely forget how to put it back together hahahaaaaa. Thanks!!
OMG OMG OMG!!! This is sooooooooooo me!!! The purpose of the video was really to demonstrate the entire troubleshooting process from the perspective of an experienced repair person (my neighbor Joe). I received some comments like "26 minutes long for a 2 minute repair" but I'm like there is a bigger purpose here. Thank you so much for validating my reasoning for posting this video. Appreciate you taking the time to let me know. BTW I always have extra parts leftover and I'm like crap...now what???? Thanks -John
Good video I tried this with a mechanic neighbor of mine. It didn't work for me but we decided the carb was the issue and a replacement carb for $15 worked. Still worth trying this first and then try carb replacement before taking to a repair shop or replacement of the pressure washer.
Have the exact same pressure washer and, just like yours, mine was barely used. Same symptoms. Like many others, I simply removed that 1 nut and bowl. You could see the "gel" accumulated at the bottom of the bowl and blocking the supply hole. Literally took 5 minutes to fix.... after watching this video, of course. Thanks for the post.
Thank you for the tip. I think what you are describing is what I did in this video I published last month to my other pressure washer. th-cam.com/video/IoemFBjpE_E/w-d-xo.html
@@UDoIt2 yeah. The not sure I'm using the official technical terms. But I just took out the thing your neighbor took out, at the beginning of the video, when the gas first came out. That's all I had to do. And clean it, of course.
Thanks so much! This seems to be the same model of Troy-Bilt with the Briggs and Stratton engine that I have. I tried all morning to get it to start (no luck so far) and then I came inside and watched your video. I have no doubt that I'll be able to fix it now with the help of you, Joe and your excellent video. Many, many thanks!
Just wanted to let you guys know I have exactly the same unit same issue watched your video and done what you guys did and unit started on first pull, video was very informative. Thanks very much!!
I can't thank you and your neighbor enough. I also can't believe from the comments how many people have crappy pressure washers just like me.Thanks for the links too.
SO AWESOME to hear!!!! Thank you so much for the comment. YESSSSS - Lots of crappy pressure washers. I even bought a second one because I didn't know how to fix my broken one (this one in the video) because I needed it right away to clean my boat. Then I had to fix that new pressure washer the next season but fortunately I knew what to do. And yes, Joe is super smart. He is sitting on a goldmine of youtube content (his talents need to be captured on video - just trying to convince him to make videos - I'd do the editing for him).
Thanks for the video, found the same pressure washer this morning in a dumpster its only a good 6 months old (SCORE) its practically brand used, it has a fouled out spark plug , good compression too an the gas tank is bone dry, the carb looks flawless, can't wait to get this p. Washer cranked up an running
That is a sweet score. Post a video of you getting it running. But make sure you let me know in a separate comment that you are posting a link so I can pass it through (the spam bot prevents links). There's a lot of Pellegrino's in this area. My name ends in a vowel too.
Earned yourself a new subscriber! My father in law was about to return his pressure washer! Your video just helped me diagnose and fix the issue! 5 stars in my book!
Great video I found when I was troubleshooting mine. Fixed mine right up so saved me a trip to the repair guy and a bill. Figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a shot. Fired right up and put it to work.
Really appreciate your video! Mine had a stuck float bowl. And water in the gas in the float. I drained the gas and fixed the float and it works like a champ. Thanks again.
I have the exact same pressure washer and it had the exact same issue, using the video as a guide I was able to get it going ., you helped me save some money and a trip...Thanks
Great, you show us how to fix the carb, but then proceed to run it without water running through the pump. I see how you're paving the way to your next repair video ;)
@@UDoIt2 I ran into a guy at Lowe's who had his power washer at the returns desk and was yelling at the young man at the counter saying this damn thing won't start and the cashier said he knows nothing about the power washer, since he was a millennial I could agree with him. I interrupted the fellow with the washer and asked him if he had the water hose connected and he said no, so I said I think it has to be under water pressure in order to start. He smiled and said thanks a lot. I don't know if I told him the truth or not, never seen him again. Just curious if i was correct or not.
@@donfulton5765 It'll physically run without water running to it. Problem is, the water pump impeller is cooled and in part lubricated by that water. Running it dry will burn out the water pump.
I was at lowes today and they were getting rid of their power washer that they use to clean in the garden center. It was this exact model. They said $25 for the unit, came with a brand new 3700 PSI blue hawk hose, a adjustable pressure sprayer, and all of the attachments (plus a couple extras). The only problem, it wouldn't start. I pulled the cord in the store, saw it had compression and figure it was either a fuel issue with the carb, or a vacuum leak. Either way, a good buy for $25, even if the unit was shot. Brand new hose (40ft), attachments, and aftermarket sprayer. Got home, sprayed some starting fluid in the carb, and it ran for a few seconds...BINGO. Took it apart, cleaned it and....let's just say I'm a happy camper haha.
Great job guys. My small engine mechanic friend says to also use fuel stabilizer if there is ethanol in the gasoline. The self-adjusting carbs do not play well with ethanol while stored. I got mine started with just three steps. You guys saved me $89! Thanks so much.
Thank you for the well explained video. This helped me get my pressure washer going. For me, it just turned out to be water in the carb bowl, and the holes in the nut holding the bowl on were at least partially clogged.
So awesome. Thank you for taking the time to let me know. This is great to hear. Time for me to make another video about this. I have two other videos on this same topic but those two are more to the point of just diagnosing the main jet clog and clearing it out.
Okay - I have a similar 2800 PSI 8.5 HP washer. I took the bowl off beefore watching this video and it was similar to my lawnmower that would not work last year. I tried cleaning the ports, but the single hole was stopped up completely and I could not get anything to clear the hole. I made the assumption that the single hole needed to be open, but wow, the ONLY thing to clear the hole was to take a 1/6 drill bit and drill the hole. It took about 30 minutes to get it clear. I have no idea what was blocking the hole. I probably screwed it up doing that, but I was pretty sure the single hole should be clear. The 2 side holes were easily cleared. I thought it would be a 10 minute job. I worked 2 hours and finally gave up. I tried taking the dang thing back to Lowes but it was past the 90 day return period. I only used in once and it looks brand new. I may have to order a new screw for the bowl to ever get the dang POS to work. At this point, I think I must have done something wrong as it won't even start (like yours did) and turn off immediately after using starter fluid. I'll keep working on it, and if I ever get it to work, then I will report back as to what I had to do. Good grief - this thing is junk IMO.
wow...so sorry for this. Is there a serial number / model number for the engine? That should give you a parts list that you can use to buy a replacement main jet. Let me know the manf/model/serial number and I can help search also.
Okay - Since I could not get the main-jet cleared so that anything (air or liquid) would flow thru it, and I drilled it to clear it out, I could no longer get anything to work. So - I ordered a new Main-jet ($11.00 + 4.99 s/h + 0.66 tax = $16.65) and installed it, making it as original as possible. But even with spraying Starter Fluid into the carb, it would not start like it did before I ever worked on it. Per this video, that meant it was not getting fire now. I took the spark plug out and it looked fine. I sprayed some starter fluid in the hole and replaced the plug. After 2-3 pulls, the washer started. Since then it starts on the first pull. This video was extremely helpful even though I am pretty "mechanically minded", so thanks a bunch for everything.
I forgot to add this: Before placing the Main Jet with the new one, I sprayed Carb Cleaner in the carb several times, so maybe that loosened something up after an hour or two. Not sure if this helped, but I just wanted you to know all the steps I took.
Love they neighbor!!! Good man .. crack open a beer for the man he saved you at least a $100.0 Buck's !! Or maybe you helped him in the past. Good to see that there's a great relationship between both parties.
Great Video and information I had the same issue with mine after sitting all winter I took the Carburetor apart and cleaned it with carburetor cleaner put it back together and it fired up I was gonna take it to an equipment place they couldn't get to it for about 3 weeks I took it apart like your video showed cleaned it as you did in Video thanks guys.... Saved me a bunch of "CASH"
Many thanks for the hands-on training; exactly what I needed for my washing to run again. The washer was sitting in the garage for two years and would not start).
Thank you guys for an excellent video. I have the same washer and could not get it started and after checking out your vid and cleaning the carb it fired right up. The two bolts mounting the carb were a little scary I thought they would snap they were in so tight "anti seized " them and they went back in much easier. Thanks again.
Thank you..that little sob ..I poked out the holes blew it out felt something come out...put all back together 3rd pull..thank you...saved me some cash
Thanks for the video, took mine apart several times, but was thinking the air compressor maybe overkill, hell no! It was crucial after taking it apart fourth time and using air compressor to blow out sediment in little openings was key. Thanks for video and saving me $$$$$
Thanks for the video. In my case, it seemed to be that bottom screw that was clogged, like what I believe was your problem in the video. When I had taken that screw off before, I didn’t notice it had the two small holes in the side and the one on the tip. For many, I would suspect this is all you need to clean and there won’t be a reason to take the entire carb off like I did.
I have this pressure washer and it has NEVER worked right. I have the same problem however took apart the carb like shown and still will not start. Do I need a new carburetor?
I had the same issue today, power washer would not turn over, or would run for like a second and shut down. I did watch your video, But All I did was your First Step (And Cleaned the Bowl and Nut) , I removed the Brass Nut, and the Cup, Sprayed the Nut with Carburetor cleaner, and Used a Paper Clip to Clean the Holes, Also Cleaned the Cup with a Rag. Put the cup back on and the Brass Nut, added fresh gas, And BAMM it Started and Ran with no Issue. Sometimes it's Just a Speck of Dirt clogging the Hole in the bowl nut. and stopping the gas Flow...
you got 99% of the time that nut is the problem it is a stupid design but been around for years.some are so small you need a needle. also a fuel filter would keep this from happening.all your fuel comes thru this bolt
Great video. I found mine as a neighbor was taking it to the street for trash. Now I feel as though it needs just a little maintenance and mine will run as well.
This video was outstanding and thanks for posting. I resolved the problem in 10 minutes thanks to this video. I agree we all should buy your neighbor a steak dinner!
Add me to the list! Fixed! I will add that for certain Honda motors or other carburetors you may have to actually remove the needle and the jets (tiny holes) and clean them out with a small pin to make sure you have adequate flow through the carburetor.
Thank you so much for the feedback! I feel empowed to embark on my next fix which is to get my generator running again. The gas has been sitting in there forever. I'll see if my neighbor Joe can help me with this one as well. Thanks again!
This really helps. My gas was gelled, and after doing everything else (even pulling the recoil and polishing the magnets), I knew I was going to have to futz with the carb. This looks like my same model, and seeing it done is brilliant!
Glad this video is still up! Thank you both very much! Saved my parents some headache! Literally left this power washer sit for about a year and a half because it stopped working. After changing the sparkplug, oil, gas and I little carb cleaner to no avail...a little card TLC did the trick...thanks again!!!
I found just blowing out the bowl nut by first clamping the fuel line did the trick for getting it started on the second pull. You might get a can of quick start to put in the air filter before you pull to start it. Good luck
That's a great upsell Sunera!!! Glad this worked out. I get lots of comments where you saved me a $200 trip to the store. This is the first "Hey I made $100!" type comment! You rock!
Well this is the same power washer I have. Ill be using your video today to help me fix mine. Its started last year before storage, and now it will not start? Cranks over, starts for a second and dies. Lets hope its the same issue as this one. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for leaving the comment. I'll be sure to let Joe know. He likes getting this feedback. I'll send Joe your question and see what he has to say about your issue.
Thanks! I did solve the issue though. It turned out being a bad gasket that was getting air into it. I could not find a new gasket so I actually ended up making it out of a cereal box that is waxed on one side. I am now wondering if the new washer I bought , I bought with an issue, because its now running better than ever before. But thank you for your time. Very much appreciated!
Very cool video loved the carb tear down got the same thing going on with mine It had very old gas maybe two years old didn't treat it it runs but sounds utterly sick so I'm sure the carb is pretty bad ! glad I found your channel thanks for the refresher course going to tackle it in the morning take care for now.
Just did this and cleaned the carburetor. No luck :( it does crank when I had sprayed some carb cleaner in there like you did in the video. Anyone recommends just to replace the carburetor? I feel like the gas isn’t being stocked up regardless
When you lift the float does gas pass through the valve? If not, there could be a clog in the valve area (I think that's the small rubber thing that Joe took off and inspected. Be careful not to lose any of the springs and screws when attempting this.
U Do It In fact it was the carb. Did a tune-up. Found that the carb had gelled. A total of about half hour of work. Once put back together, she started right up. Again, thanks fellas!
I will let Joe know. Thank you. He rebuilds motors all the time. Im trying to get him to film his next rebuild. We shall see if I can get him on camera again.
I still have problems getting the pressure washer to stay running . I didn't use the aircompresor to blow the lines and I also didn't put more fresh gas after I cleaned the carburetor
Check your oil dip stick and make sure you didn't overfill it. That would happen to my lawn mower when I overfilled the oil. Were there any additives added to the gas, like Sea Foam? I'll check with my neighbor Joe on the white smoke just to make sure.
Thank you! Yea, this is a weird problem. Why is it clogging? Is it the type of metal? How many people are tossing these because of a potential manufacturing or design issue?
Great video! If you add a fuel line filter and remove the bottom bowl and clean needle and replace gas it will run smooth. That pressure washer is expensive and sucks. Only way to remove to clean out bottom bowl is to unscrew that bottom bowl and clean needle. Messy job. Adding a filter will keep you from having to mess with it.
@@UDoIt2 Thanks, do you know what size or part the float bowl gasket is? My pressure washer is leaking gas from the bottom of the float bowl. The gasket got damaged when I was removing and installing that screw.
GRACIAS AMIGOS this video help me fixed a pressure washer that sitting on the Garage for almost 2 years and that I was about to throw away but I decided for a last time to try to see what might be wrong with it and thanks to your video that help me to find out what was the issue with it and I fixed it Gracias
THIS IS SO AWESOME!!! That was the same issue here. It sat in the garage for some time and finally I asked my neighbor Joe if he'd help me and be on video doing it. This may help you in the future. This is a placeholder for all things associated with Pressure Washers that I encountered including replacement of the carburetor on this very pressure washer. udoit.me/home-improvement/equipment-maintenance-repair/pressure-washer/ - John
My pressure wash was full of water on gas tank I change the spark plug just drain the water put new gas an new oil didn’t crank do I need to take off carburetor like u did or if I take it to some one how much it will cost me a reasonable to fix it will thanks for ur time and video
just clean out carb bowl and inspect main jet...clean out with a pin if necessary. you can spray carb with carb cleaner. make sure fuel line to carb bowl is clean. Let us know how it worked out!
I have a similar unit...kept stahling out when under load...I found the cheap spring type clamps on the fuel line failing. replaced clamps and she runs like a champ...easy to see, open fuel cap while at idle if it looks like a tornado in ur fuel tank check ur fuel hose clamps...remember carbs work on venturi vaccum...a vacumn leak or a fuel line sucking air will shut down ur machine
Thanks for recording! I knew I had a gummed up carb, but I didn't notice were the springs went. This video helped me see which spring went where, and where they attached.
Fixed 3 of these machines. Every single one was from bad gas and setting up. 17.00 carburetor on Amazon and every single one fired up on the first pull.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Love this. Thank you for the feedback. Here's a page you can bookmark but it's probably second nature to you now after repairing three of them. It has my latest video on how I replaced the carburetor. I may have purchased the same one as you. udoit.me/home-improvement/equipment-maintenance-repair/pressure-washer/ - John
I have this same model or one similar and my carb bowl bolt was clogged. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out why it would not start. Everyone check that first before ripping the whole carb off.
My PW still won't run. The oil and spark plug have maybe 5 hours use on them, then the engine started having a hard time running, then would only run so long as the trigger was pulled and the spray wand was spraying and the engine was running under maximum pressure while spraying, then the engine just died and would not start or spark/combustion. This all happened over maybe 2 minutes. The spark plug is not fouled, the air filter is new, so the only thing left was the carburetor, which I replaced today with a 100% new carburetor (OEM Briggs & Stratton). I put in fresh fuel, and put on a new fuel hose, filter and fuel shut off, and cranked many times with no combustion. I took off the new fuel line and replaced with the old, cranked a couple of times and the engine started and ran perfectly for about a second or so, then died again. Now I crank and I still don't get any sign of combustion. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance for any tips, and thanks to you both for the great video!
My guess is that you might have hooked up the arm from the automatic choke the wrong way. It doesn't entwine with the arm of the wind vane ; it just rests in the open area.
Great video, for sure. My pressure washer isn't even turning over. It's like the gas isn't even flowing to the carburetor. How does the water get into the carburetor? I guess I could drain the gas out and put new gas in to see that would do it, but I don't think I have the skill to take that carburetor apart.
Thank you! If you pull the cord and it doesn't budge you could have water in the oil. I'd pull the spark plug and inspect it (do not start with the spark plug removed cause you'll get a spark and have a fire or boom). Consider draining the oil and filling it up again with new. If you can pull the cord without resistance and it doesn't start then you could have a bad carburetor and/or bad gas or a bad spark plug (check that last if the cord pulls fine). Regarding water in the carb I just watched a video on Chickanic about this. She said the first thing to do is to install a shutoff valve (if you have room). When you are done, leave the engine running and turn off the shutoff valve. Let it run until it stops. This empties the carburetor bowl. BTW side note she has a video on pressure washers and ALWAYS run it with the wand opened so water is always running through the pump. I wasn't aware of this that the pump can overheat and burn up if water isn't flowing through it. The one owners manual she showed said don't idle for over 1 minute. Now back to your original question. Either in the same video or another video by someone else a cup of gas was placed on the workbench with a gopro on timelapse. You could observe how water was getting absorbed into the gas (at the same time the gas was evaporating). This can happen in your carburetor and the water can rust out the caburetor parts. So how can you remedy this? As you said, drain gas tank. Go a step further and remove the bowl nut and bowl as I do in this video. Inspect the nut - it has two ports on opposite sides in addition to the main port through the center of the nut. Clean them well with either a carburetor cleaning set (a set of needles and wire brushes) or use a sewing needle. If you can see light across then its clean but then clean out the hole down the center of the nut. Spray it good with carb cleaner. With the bowl removed pour in fresh gas and observe if it flows out of the carburetor. If it does then your valve is opened. Then press up GENTLY on the float and see if the gas stops flowing. If it stops then your needle, valve and float are probably all ok. You could still have a clogged main jet which I demonstrate in this video here: th-cam.com/video/ksbLvLGP4aI/w-d-xo.html - this is really worth watching through because I discover things that helped me better understand the carburetor. At the time of this video I couldn't figure out how this generator's carb got so funky but after watching Chickanic's video it all made sense. Consider doing the following if you can't get it working by draining bowl and putting in fresh gas. I suggest you swap the carburetor as I did in this video: th-cam.com/video/zkBpKziWcbk/w-d-xo.html It's quite easy to replace (just pay attention [really really good attention] to the linkages and the way they are connected so you can correctly connect them). Install a filter inline (buy a good filter but small enough to fit) and also clean out your gas tank. You'll want carb cleaner and possibly starting fluid. I think I mention the size sockets you need and possibly wrench. YOU GOT THIS Paul!!! Feel free to reach out - just let me know how you are going to contact me ahead of time. BTW I don't know what I'm doing but I push through. Sometimes I call in professionals like my neighbor Joe who does small engine repair on the side. Hope this helps. I hope to cover this topic in my TV show DIY with U Do It which will air on turtle tv in September. - John
Same thing with mine... took the screw off the bottom of the carb, a little fuel came out, then nothing... full tank of gas. The screw piece was all gummed up, and the washer broken. But I'm surprised no more gas is running out of it. I'm guessing that means my carb is pretty well gummed up huh??? No time today to fix it, will have to give this a shot at some point.
I have this same unit. I bought it on offer up so I can't return it. Taking it out of the box and trying to start it, the automatic throttle doesn't work properly. If we manually push the wire it works until we released the pressure but each time we do that we have to push the wire again. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you for this video, about to try and clean mine out as a weekend project. What did use to clean the parts and was it the same spray he used initially when you were trying to start it? Or two different sprays? Thank you!

Thank you for this awesome update! This comment is going in my next DIY video!
use TruFuel vs your cheap lawnmower gas.
H3ll Yea! Thank you for this comment. Glad you got it working and thanks for letting me know. Txting Joe now. Thank you!
that's the same scenario for me -- that brass plug has a very small orifice in the middle -- thanks for the video !
This is super. I will let Joe know!
I run mine dry after ever summer and every now and then that little hole still gets clogged.
I had removed the carb and cleaned twice with no success. Then I found this video and found out that the bolt had holes in it. Once I unclogged those, it cranked on the first try. You guys saved me lots of time and money. Thanks!
So awesome! Here's something that may help u in the future udoit.me/home-improvement/equipment-maintenance-repair/pressure-washer/
Thanks.
Appreciate you taking time to leave a comment
Craftsman washer was very hard to start, from new out of the box, last year. Would Not restart after shut down. Followed your advice and removed the float bowl. It was clean. I drained the tank, just in case the gas was bad. I then ran a tip cleaner up the bolt hole... gave it a good reem job. Looked like hot glue residue came out. Reassembled. Filled with new gas... started second pull. Shut down after a few minutes.... restarted on second pull. I connected to water. Started right up. When I squeezed the trigger, the engine sped up, and pressure washer runs fine! Thank You!
Great news that you got it running! Thank you for sharing! - John
WOW!!! This is great news. So happy to hear you have it working again!
David, I added your comment to my community tab. Thank you again!
Thank you so much guys! I didn't have to spend 400 dollars for a new one! It started right away after i did what you guys did in the video.
Good video I tried this with a mechanic neighbor of mine. It didn't work for me but we decided the carb was the issue and a replacement carb for $15 worked. Still worth trying this first and then try carb replacement before taking to a repair shop or replacement of the pressure washer.
Thanks for the update! I so appreciate my neighbor Joe's mechanic skills!
I think he called it the main jet. I think it is like a banjo bolt.
Awesome! Please let us know if it worked for you!
Just wanted to let you guys know I have exactly the same unit same issue watched your video and done what you guys did and unit started on first pull, video was very informative. Thanks very much!!
Thank you so much for your feedback! It's great to hear that it worked out for you! - John
I sprayed brake cleaner through all of the orifices in the carburator. It worked. Thanks for showing how to take apart.
Great news! Thank you for sharing. I will inform Joe.
Kelly Mahoney I did the same thing with the brake cleaner and mine worked
I’m not sure what was wrong with mine but I followed your video and mine started right up!! Thanks for posting this video!!
Thank you so much Scott for the feedback!
Got my power washer working again thanks to this video. I am not a mechanic in any way but I sure feel smart now!
Thank you so much. That is the purpose of this channel To empower those who didnt think they could do this prior to watching the video!
Sweeeeettttt! Thank you so much. I will let my neighbor Joe know.
Great video I found when I was troubleshooting mine. Fixed mine right up so saved me a trip to the repair guy and a bill. Figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a shot. Fired right up and put it to work.
Thank you for letting me know how you found it. Im glad this worked out for you.
I will let Joe know.
Really appreciate your video! Mine had a stuck float bowl. And water in the gas in the float. I drained the gas and fixed the float and it works like a champ. Thanks again.
Thank you Glenn for the update. It's great to hear how videos like this help. - John
I have the exact same pressure washer and it had the exact same issue, using the video as a guide I was able to get it going ., you helped me save some money and a trip...Thanks
Joe, Needle Valve and float operation clean-up did it for me. Thanks a bunch!.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I'll let Joe know! - John
Great, you show us how to fix the carb, but then proceed to run it without water running through the pump. I see how you're paving the way to your next repair video ;)
If anyone is reading this comment please heed the Yoster77's advice!
Don Fulton atleast he left the kid alone he prob didn’t turn the switch to the on position
You are 100% correct. I learned that from Paul Short on youtube.
Took it apart, cleaned it and....let's just say I'm a happy camper haha.
oh dangggggg! Super awesome bargain! Im gonna put this comment in my next video! Thanks for the update!
Great job guys. My small engine mechanic friend says to also use fuel stabilizer if there is ethanol in the gasoline. The self-adjusting carbs do not play well with ethanol while stored.
I got mine started with just three steps. You guys saved me $89! Thanks so much.
Great news! I have the fuel stabilizer and I bought Joe a bottle of it for helping.
Use ethanol free marine gas or truefuel. Problems averted.
Good to see good neighbors still exist
Joe is awesome!! Thank you for the comment.
This is the exact model I have and it has the same symptoms. Thanks for taking the time to film this.
Excellent. I had the same problem this morning So I grabbed the camera and fixed it again. Another video will be released.
This is an awesome video. I actually bought a replacement carb complete for under $20 and swapped in. I will clean and save the original.
Thank you so much. Great news about the new carb! Thanks for sharing your results!
Love they neighbor!!! Good man .. crack open a beer for the man he saved you at least a $100.0 Buck's !! Or maybe you helped him in the past. Good to see that there's a great relationship between both parties.
For sure! Yea we take care of each other. Thank you!
Saved me a bunch of "CASH"
sweet!!! Im gonna highlight this comment in my community tab!
Here's the post in my community tab Clifford. Thank you th-cam.com/users/udoit2community
Many thanks for the hands-on training; exactly what I needed for my washing to run again. The washer was sitting in the garage for two years and would not start).
excellent news! Thank you for sharing! I have to do this again to my pressure washer as well this season. Im really slacking!
Same thing, two years and it won’t crank!
Great video guys. Mine cranked after I opened the bowl. The gas had gelled. I only had to use the one step. Awesome.
That is a great and easy trick. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you gents. You saved me $ 100 diag fee plus... and probably 3 hours hauling back and forth.
Sweet! I will let Joe know!
I just had the exact same problem. With your video I had it fixed within 10 minutes. Thanks for the help!
Super awesome to hear!
Great video. I checked the fuel bowl , pulled one time and it fired right up!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback!
Thank you guys for an excellent video. I have the same washer and could not get it started and after checking out your vid and cleaning the carb it fired right up. The two bolts mounting the carb were a little scary I thought they would snap they were in so tight "anti seized " them and they went back in much easier. Thanks again.
This is great news. Using AntiSieze was a great idea.
p p.o p.o
Thank you..that little sob ..I poked out the holes blew it out felt something come out...put all back together 3rd pull..thank you...saved me some cash
SO AWESOME! Thank you for sharing your success If you get stuck later you can always replace the carb assembly. I also have a video on that. - John
LOVE!!! the time stamp for each section of video. wish everyone would do that!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. Ive done this on a few lengthy videos. I appreciate the feedback.
EXCELLENT demo!! Thanks for the advice. Was able to start my P.W. today because of this!!
OMG!!! This is great news. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video, took mine apart several times, but was thinking the air compressor maybe overkill, hell no! It was crucial after taking it apart fourth time and using air compressor to blow out sediment in little openings was key. Thanks for video and saving me $$$$$
excellent!!! Thank you for the feedback RJ!!!
Thank you so much! Yes it was through Joe's help that I was able to what you did in this video here th-cam.com/video/IoemFBjpE_E/w-d-xo.html
This was super helpful. My nossle was clogged just like yours and this walk-through got it done!
Thank you for the feedback. I'll let Joe know!
Great news. Thank you for taking the time to write this awesome solution.
you got 99% of the time that nut is the problem it is a stupid design but been around for years.some are so small you need a needle. also a fuel filter would keep this from happening.all your fuel comes thru this bolt
Great video. I found mine as a neighbor was taking it to the street for trash. Now I feel as though it needs just a little maintenance and mine will run as well.
keep us updated on your progress! I love trash to treasure...liie Gary Vee's Trash Talk! -John
This video was outstanding and thanks for posting. I resolved the problem in 10 minutes thanks to this video. I agree we all should buy your neighbor a steak dinner!
Excellent news! Thank you for commenting!
Same here, ready to take it to the dump, save me money and time... 10 minutes and she started right up. Thanks
Thanks man! I got my power washer running after watching this video, beer on me
LOVE THIS! Thank you so much for letting us know that this worked out for you!
This guy is great. I had the same issue and with this video had my pressure washer up and running. Thanks
Thank you Ed. Yes...Joe is a lifessver. He is a great neighbor!
This really helps. My gas was gelled, and after doing everything else (even pulling the recoil and polishing the magnets), I knew I was going to have to futz with the carb. This looks like my same model, and seeing it done is brilliant!
I will let Joe know. Im trying to encourage him to start his own channel.
polishing magnets does nothing
Good to know, thank you.
Glad this video is still up! Thank you both very much! Saved my parents some headache! Literally left this power washer sit for about a year and a half because it stopped working. After changing the sparkplug, oil, gas and I little carb cleaner to no avail...a little card TLC did the trick...thanks again!!!
Wow thank you for this testimonial! So awesome. I will tell Joe.
I found just blowing out the bowl nut by first clamping the fuel line did the trick for getting it started on the second pull. You might get a can of quick start to put in the air filter before you pull to start it.
Good luck
Thank you so much William for the details!
Just another comment on how this helped me fix my pressure washer, thx guys!
Thank you so much Jay for letting us know! Great news!
Thank you sir, followed everything and started to work like came from the store!!!
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your results.
Dad and I just successfully fixed ours (same model), thank you!
SUCH GREAT NEWS!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. For safety always unplug the spark plug when working on a small engine.
Great tip and thank you for taking the time to comment!
My dad got a new pressure washer and he gave me the old one and said do whatever I want, fixed it and made a quick $100 sale.
That's a great upsell Sunera!!! Glad this worked out. I get lots of comments where you saved me a $200 trip to the store. This is the first "Hey I made $100!" type comment! You rock!
@@UDoIt2 thanks man‼️💫
Well this is the same power washer I have.
Thanks a bunch! Had all kind of crap in the bowl and the needle valve was completely blocked!
Excellent! I'll let Joe know. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Great walk through video I was able to correct my pressure washer. Thank you!
Thank you so much for letting me know. I will share this with my neighbor Joe.
Great video guys. Followed this step by step and on first pull….boom…..fired right up!!!!!
OH YEAAAAAAAAA!!! Thank you for the update and happy to hear this!
Just did this and cleaned the carburetor. No luck :( it does crank when I had sprayed some carb cleaner in there like you did in the video. Anyone recommends just to replace the carburetor? I feel like the gas isn’t being stocked up regardless
Edward Castillo id replace the carburetor it’s not expensive and that’s the most common problem to
Thank you Chris for replying!
When you lift the float does gas pass through the valve? If not, there could be a clog in the valve area (I think that's the small rubber thing that Joe took off and inspected. Be careful not to lose any of the springs and screws when attempting this.
I fixed it. One of the holes were clogged within the carburetor so I used a needle to clean it out! Works good now :)
Great video gentlemen. I suspect the same is going on with my PW. I'll be doing this very repair on mine tomorrow. Again, thanks!
Let us know how it worked out for you. Take care with the gas - consider wearing latex gloves.
U Do It
In fact it was the carb. Did a tune-up. Found that the carb had gelled. A total of about half hour of work. Once put back together, she started right up. Again, thanks fellas!
This video helped me a lot. I fixed the carburetor problem with the help of this video.... thanks a lot...
I will let Joe know. Thank you. He rebuilds motors all the time. Im trying to get him to film his next rebuild. We shall see if I can get him on camera again.
Thank you for the video, you helped me get my pressure washer running!
Awesome news!
I still have problems getting the pressure washer to stay running . I didn't use the aircompresor to blow the lines and I also didn't put more fresh gas after I cleaned the carburetor
Great video. I got my power washer back running in no time at all.
Excellent! Thank you for letting us know. I will tell Joe!
This was awesome, I followed the steps to a tee and my pressure washer is back running. But I have a lot of white smoke coming out?
Check your oil dip stick and make sure you didn't overfill it. That would happen to my lawn mower when I overfilled the oil. Were there any additives added to the gas, like Sea Foam? I'll check with my neighbor Joe on the white smoke just to make sure.
@@UDoIt2 thanks for the reply and please let me know when you do, it's also spewing out black oil out of the font pipe..
use spell check and you will get more direct answers.
Had to do mine twice, second time after watching this and seeing the compressed air. That’s what worked for mine.
Thanks for posting
Good job!! Need to be a class Action lawsuit!! Used mine two times and after that did not work. That was two years ago. Thanks again!
Yes, I have to add a filter. Not looking forward to doing this again next week. My siding is a messy green right now. Thank you - John
Love the detail in the video and captions thanks so much!
Thank you Thomas!
Thank you for this video. Helped me start my Troy built pressure washer
Thank you so much. I will tell Joe we have another satisfied viewer.
@@UDoIt2 Thanks, do you know what size or part the float bowl gasket is? My pressure washer is leaking gas from the bottom of the float bowl. The gasket got damaged when I was removing and installing that screw.

Joe is a legend...thank you for the video!!
IKR!!! I'm so fortunate to have him as my neighbor. Imaging if he started a youtube channel???? Thank you JP!
great vid! My favorite part was the dog turd smushed in the tire :)
But really, thank you for the upload I learned a lot. It was very easy to watch.
I'm like where did that thing come from. Appreciate the feedback. Joe is really good with engine repair. - John
Thank you so much for this extra information!
Thanks for recording! I knew I had a gummed up carb, but I didn't notice were the springs went. This video helped me see which spring went where, and where they attached.
Excellent! I appreciate this feedback. I will let Joe know. I want him to make more video on gas powered equipment for my channel.
@@UDoIt2 Gift and a curse being able to diagnose and fix small engines, makes me the most popular guy in the neighborhood come spring time
I have this same model or one similar and my carb bowl bolt was clogged. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out why it would not start. Everyone check that first before ripping the whole carb off.
Thank you... followed what y'all did and fixed my power washer
This is great news! Thank you for sharing your success! I will let Joe know.
YES! Thanks for the video. Pretty much did the same thing you guys did and it started on the 2nd pull.
EXCELLENT!! Thanks for the update!
My Briggs-Stratton is doing the exact same thing *that this washer was...
.Off to the garage with me!!!
Thanks
Let me know if you were able to fix it.

*This worked perfectly! Thanks for the video. My to-do list just got a whole lot bigger than it was.
Check oil level if to low safety shut off kicks in and won't start till you add to sufficient level bro!
that is what i wondered
- John
Good fix. 99% of the time, you can trace all your problems down to that carb bowl & bolt jets clogged.
Thank you. After the video Joe explained a lot of that. He rebuilds gas engines as a hobby. I will gve him a camera to start filming with.
He is sitting on a goldmine of knowledge.
Yes it could be gummed up. Carb cleaner will help after you disassemble it.
I have this same unit. I bought it on offer up so I can't return it. Taking it out of the box and trying to start it, the automatic throttle doesn't work properly. If we manually push the wire it works until we released the pressure but each time we do that we have to push the wire again. Do you have any suggestions?
I will discuss with my neighbor Joe snd see what he says. I will get back to you.
I have an identical issue. Figured it was the carburetor. Plan to work on it this weekend.
Sweet. Thank you for the update! This vid gets to the point in a few minutes. th-cam.com/video/wDcA2PFHWdE/w-d-xo.html
Well done dude!
Thank you for this video, about to try and clean mine out as a weekend project.
What did use to clean the parts and was it the same spray he used initially when you were trying to start it? Or two different sprays? Thank you!
I think it was carb cleaner.
Let us know how it wotked out
