BurbBilly, my Homelite 2700 pressure washer had no pressure this spring. I noticed dripping underneath and replaced the thermal release valve. That fixed the drips but still no pressure. I found your video. Followed your instructions and now the pressure washer works great! Since it was out of warranty, you saved me a bunch of time and money. Thanks, Bill
I literally was on amazon and was about to click the buy button to purchase a new pump when I thought I’d look on TH-cam as someone must have posted something about this issue. I saw your video... went outside, did just what you said and viola... pump pressure is back like a charm!!! Thanks a million. Now I can take the family out for dinner with that 100 bucked you saved me!
UNBELIEVABLE!! the local fix it place (very reputable) said $400 to repair. your video and 10 minutes later,...DONE! and working. Thank you so so much :)
Thank you sir! As a female perspective, you gave excellent instructions. I did everything you said including the screw driver. I didn’t get the part out , but I cleaned everything and as a last resort, tapped on the part you pushed on the concrete. It worked and I was able to get all my power washing completed! So thank you! Very much!!!!!❤️
I had the same issue with my Homelite 2700... called the tech line and told them I ran Purple Power through it once in 3 years, earlier that day. The tech said I destroyed the seals and would need a new pump. Went to Home Depot where I bought it and they don’t even sell Homelite anymore. Soaked the pump in CLR and searched TH-cam. Your video came up and I tried it! Success! Thanks for doing this video, it saved me $75 and a lot of time!
Got mine out today for the first time since last year and no pressure. Everywhere I looked I was told if it doesn't have pressure, you need a new pump ($100) or to rebuild it. Then I found your video. Took me 10 minutes to fix it. Thanks!!
You are the boss! Thanks for the quick fix! My homelite pressure washer decided not to work this year, wife said 'leave it at the curb' after I tried a few things scratching my head. Watched your video, 10 mins later it's purring like a tiger. She lives to see another season!
holy crap ...I watched a dozen videos thinking I have to rebuild my carb or do some major pump rebuild..I did this and cleaned the filter to my water inlet and it worked perfectly...awesome
I second the free beer. My Homelite sat in the garage for over 3 years. After replacing the carb (the engine wouldn't run until I did), I had the same problem with no pressure. Did this fix in 5 mins (the screwdriver pry was very easy) and now its running like new again. Thank you!
Thought id give this a try on the pressure washer I own before replacing the pump or purchasing a new washer. This saved me some cash. Washer works great now! Thanks for the tip and taking the time to pass this info along. Mike
Thanks for this video. My Simonize pressure washer quit working today [Saturday]. The motor worked fine so I thought is was the pump. I went into town to look for a replacement pump and found a match for $169. But they were out of stock so I went back home thinking of another supplier which was closed today but open on Monday. I then checked TH-cam to see how much of a job it would be to install a new pump. I then found your video and guess what? It was my unloader valve that had seized. You saved me some money and I owe you a great thank-you.
Very cool! Thanks for posting this, it's good to hear when my videos help people out. Lets me know I'm on the right track with the channel. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! BB
I have an almost new Troy Bilt Pressure Washer. I had no pressure. I thought it was the pump. You saved me a lot of time and maybe $100.00. Thank You Sir for all you do. Michael G. Altman Laporte, In.
+Michael G. Altman You're very welcome Michael! It's comments like yours that make me feel I'm on the right track with this. I'm glad the video helped you out. BurbBilly
I was about to throw a hissy fit and you helped me get my pressure washer working in under 5 minutes. You sir, are a gift to the world. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much. I had just picked up my pressure washer from someone that I let borrow it for 4 days and I know it worked before I took it to them but when I picked it up, the pump would not kick on al all. I was no happy. But now that I know it was just the value stuck, I'm a happy man again thank you. Time for a cold beer.
You rock! Last year I used this unit once, put it away for the winter and today needed to use it. Engine runs but no pressure. So I put it away thinking it was defeat and was about to go to Costco and but a new one. I decided at the last second to check TH-cam and found your video. Thank you! Easy to follow and bang on correct! You rock and you made me feel manly as I fixed my own problem! Thanks!!
Blowing you kisses of gratitude from Michigan! I spent 1 1/2 hours trying to figure out what was wrong with this pressure washer and was mere MOMENTS away from taking a sledge hammer to this machine and then lighting it on fire. Took a short break to jump on You Tube and came across this video. Was up and running in less than 10 minutes! Sucks that I'll probably have to do this every Spring, but now I know what to do.
+Kevin Fogarty HAHA Thanks for the post Kevin, I'm glad you found the video helpful. If you drain the washer in the fall, empty the gas and store it somewhere it wont freeze you should be fine. They sell pump saver you can run in the pump before you store it as well and I've heard that helps alot. Also don't run water from Flint in it.
Sir, I wanted to truly thank you for posting this video. I have a Subaru pressure washer with similar specs and the same pump. I was ready to detach the pump and order a new one. I just happened to come across this video, and watched it. The repair worked perfectly. Fortunately for me, I was able to free the unloader easily with a pair of pliers, and I didn't have to bang it on the concrete. Just a rap of the hammer and it came loose. You saved me a great be pile of money with this. It was a blessing to me. Thank you again. I'll make sure to bring it inside this Winter.
Same machine and same problem, and it's only a year old. Was wracking my brain... Figured that bottom piece (unloader) was the culprit, but the manuals don't mention it anywhere, of course. Your video explained everything perfectly, and the steps were very easy to follow. Got it apart, freed up the stuck pin, and back together in 5 minutes (The screwdriver method was absolutely the way to go). Great video - you saved me countless hours looking for my warranty information, waiting for customer service, and repair hell. Thank you!!
Damion Blake You're welcome and thank you for posting. If you haven't already take a look at some of my other videos. Lots of DIY tips and tricks there.
You are my new hero! I had that exact problem with that exact model, and I needed to pressure wash my house's vinyl siding. I was freaking out until I thought of checking TH-cam. 10 minutes later I was blasting away! Thank you, Sir!
Thanks a lot for sharing! My father was extremely upset with himself because he thought he ruined the pump by putting bleach in it. I went over and took the valve out and sure enough it was stuck. This fixed the problem! Good stuff buddy!!
You are a life saver. After many days of frustration trying to fix a borrowed pressure washer, I found your video. My boyfriend watched it and had the washer fixed in under 10 minutes. There was much rejoicing.
I had the same problem as the guy on the video. I am not the most mechanically inclined but after watching the video, I gave it a try. I removed the valve, hit the valve stem on some concrete to free it up, reinstalled the valve and it worked! I did pray for some heavenly intervention before turning on the washer. Thank you to the guy on the video for making my Memorial Day Weekend. Now, back to pressure washing the deck, the house, the dog, etc....
Jeff Mullahey Hey Jeff, Great to hear the video helped you out! Enjoy what is left of your Memorial day weekend and please don't pressure wash the dog. lol
Thank you so much! I had taken the whole pump apart on my Homelite and couldn't find anything wrong. I was about to order a new pump today until I saw this today and tried it. Took me less then 5 minutes and was running perfectly.
+Chris Tatgenhorst Chris, you're very welcome. Comments like this make me feel good about my channel. It's nice to know you helped someone out so thanks for that.
Thanks for posting this video. My pressure washer has been kept outside in a rubbermaid shed and I took it out today to do some work with it. No high pressure! Your video was a HUGE help. After following your instructions, it's working just fine!
I just did this on my Homelite 2700 UT80522G and it worked!!!! I was just about to buy a new pressure washer, but your video saved me. Thanks much appreciated!
You're the BEST Burbbilly! I have the same Homelite pressure washer but it is several years older than your brothers so the unloader valve was a little tougher to get out. Once I got it out the problem was exactly as you described and I just smacked the pin on the end and now it works great. Thank you thank you thank you.
This video was great! Thank you Billy. My homelike pressure washer was low on pressure and I did exactly as you described in the video and it fixed my issue (including going right for the screw driver). Not sure if it would work with other pressure washers, but for my Homelite, it was the fix!! Thank you for taking the time to video how to fix!
Thanks for the video. Bought the same unit last year. Went to pressure wash the house today and was so mad when I realized that the pump wasn't working. Got even madder thinking about the time it would take to fix it. Then I found your video and the house looks great now!
Literally just fixed mine thanks to this video. Appreciate the upload. Works like new again, actually better than I can remember. Cleaned out everything with WD-40 while I was at it.
Fixed my issue. Huge thanks! Saved me a trip to the repair shop where the shop would have charged me probably $100. Judging from the comments this seems to be a common problem with the 2700 psi unit.
we let it set and low and behold the washer would not work again. Run but no pressure. I decided to check out some videos on the subject and this was the first one. I tried what billy said wouldn't you know that was the problem. Thks a bunch. Runs like a champ again. The valve was stuck.
While my pressure washer is brand new, I love learning more about small engines, etc. This is just another trick up my sleeve to diagnose an issue! Thanks!
Hey - Thanks so much for this. I had the same problem with my washer, a Suburu EA190V, also from Costco - and the unloader valve was identical. Interestingly my valve wasn't seized up. It popped in and out without issue. Before I put it back in I turned the water on and let some run through now open valve housing. I then put it back together but the water wouldn't come through. I took a chance and started the machine up. There was about a 15 second hesitation and the water started. Works great.
You’re awesome, this fixed my pressure washer in less than five minutes. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s nice to still see average everyday guys fixing their stuff. Thanks again!
Well I want to add my thanks for your video too. I was ready to leave my Troy-Bilt pressure washer for the trash truck to pick it up but followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Thank you Billy!
Had low pressure issue with my pressure washer, I was able to fix and get it back up and running again, without having to buy any parts! Thanks to this guy's video tutorial... Thanks again :-)
Thank You. My pressure washer motor ran no pressure. I pulled the pimp apart twice. and checked every thing. One valve needed resetting. I was considering buying a new washer. Fixed the thing you said and all is well. Thanks.
Thanks Burb Billy! I had the same problem and was about to buy a new pump but found your video ... and it worked! Rather than store the power washer out of the cold next winter, I'm going to remove the unloader valve and store that inside. Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip !. I think I have the same problem, own same pressure washer for 2 years so far.. kept it in my shed during the winter. Will work on it this weekend. Hope that's the problem.
Great video! From my experience, chlorinated and / or “hard water” builds up on the unloader valves (UV) and freezes them while in storage.. After you free up the UV, you should coat the O-Ring(s) farthest from the pump head with a SILICONE based (swimming pool type) grease.. Do NOT use petroleum based grease or petroleum jelly, it swells O-Rings and causes it’s own sticking issues.. On some / most units (Karcher etc) only grease the outer O-Ring.. if you lube the O-Ring on the base of the UV it will not stay in place and cycle correctly, it will kick the pressure in and out every few seconds.. (and drive you NUTS!) Sometimes you need to remove the UV and clean both the UV and pump where the base of the UV seats into the head.. Sometimes if you simply use the pressure washer for a few minutes the useful / correct operating pressure time increases incrementally until it washes the silicone grease off of the O-Ring at the base of the valve and the pump will keep making pressure again.. If you want to assure your pump works properly, clean and lube the UV before winter storage and it will be ready to go in the spring.. (Most pump storage liquid is typically inexpensive RV antifreeze.relabeled as “storage fluid” and costs 400% more..
great to see someone helping out the home owners, I work on pressure washers and small equiptment to make a living, and it's almost always the unloader. either it's stuck, rusty, or the spring is broken. occasionally the pumps puke, but that's normally from either being run with bad/no oil in the pump or being over heated by letting it idle for two long
+Nathan Hansen Appreciate the post Nathan. Sounds like you know your way around these types of tools. If you're ok with it can I reach out to you with some questions from time to time? If so just shoot me an email at mytwocentsonthings@gmail.com I'll keep your contact info saved there if I need it.
You are officially my hero for the day! Needed to wash the deck and had low pressure, found your video and my problem was fixed!! Worst part was putting the retaining pin back in but one it was in, good as new.
Thanks to your video, I was able to fix this problem! A very talented neighbor used a vintage hand vice and slide hammer to pop that valve out with one rap! Back in business, thanks to the BurbBilly!
wow !!!! so happy I seen this post. I thought I'd have to take it to the shop.....but no after seeing this I was running my washer 10 minutes later. thank you !!!!
I had the same issue, and, after watching your great video... The pressure was back... Thank you for making this video and saving all of us time, a headache and some hard earned money... Subscribed...
I was about to buy a new pump when I came across your video. Your instructions helped a lot a saved me time and money. Thank you for doing this... Jean R. Westlake, oh.
Thanks Billy your information, it saved me $90 on a new pump. Also, my unit is almost 10 years and the pressure had dropped some last year so I fixed the frozen check valve as in your video and cranked down the pressure spring and... waaalaa mucho buncho pressure........ AGAIN THANKS...
Usually a "sticking unloader" (named so, because it "unloads" or re-directs water when the gun is triggered) in these (low volume) units is caused by calcium (lime scale) buildup that occurs during lack of use, not so much a lack of lubrication. Pump Guard provides a coating to prevent the build-up of scale. When putting the washer away for the winter, put some compressed air to the garden hose connection, and blow the excess water out of the pump, and the build-up slows dramatically. You can also run some "CLR" into the pump before (30 min or so) starting the machine to remove any build-up. -D. Yates (Karcher Commercial Pressure Washer Tech- 25+ years)
Thank you!!! Power washer works perfectly now. This was exactly my issue... For all those tackling this, it takes some doing popping the valve out, I started with a screw driver and got nowhere until I tapped the sides of the valve with a hammer and that seemed to unfreeze it from the housing.... bottom line, keep prying on it and it will pop out.The only thing holding it in is friction. I unfroze the pin and it was as good as new. Great video.
Thank you so much! This quickly fixed my issue with a brand new Simpson MSH3125-S MegaShot 3100 PSI washer. I called Simpson and they were no help at all. After watching this video, I had it up and running in no time.
i was about to order a new pressure wash pump !! mine broke about two years ago after I left it in the shed during the winter months! I will be trying this out right now before I even order a new one! thanks
Thanks for a great video. Just another tip. My Homelite was stored in my outdoor shed, but it didn't lose pressure all at once. I guess cause it is because we have pretty mild winters. Sometimes it had low pressure and the next time I go to use it, it was OK. So I guess this valve can stick once in a while. Either way I pulled it out, gave it a clean, worked the piston back and forth and "voila" it now works every time. And the screw driver trick is gold. Thanks Billy!
Hey thanks for posting the video. You saved me big time! Took me lexx than 10 minutes to get my pressure washer up and running after watching the vid. Thanks again!
Just pulled my actuator out and it was frozen! Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow. It’s 9 o’clock at night and pouring rain out… Not a good time to test it. Thank you
I, for one, appreciate you leaving in the "wrenching" you had to do. That way when my wife is over my shoulder yapping "yer gonna break it!!" I can show her this and tell her to shaddup...
+Daniel D I've learned it's best to think things in my head but not actually say them when I'm mad at my wife. When I dont do that and I say things, it never works out well for me....lol I'm glad you found it helpful though and thanks for the post/feedback
That worked awesome, got back from riding, bike was mudded up good ,went for the Power washing naturally not working pulled the pin out Walla done deal perfect working condition thank you
Hello Billy, thanks for the video. My dad and me didn't know what was wrong with R pressure washer , come to find out after watching your video it was the unloader valve. We took it out and and banged on the spring and presto it was working again. Thanks again Billy for your video.
THANKS!! My Homelite 2700 was in my shed all winter and even though I used pump protector, I still had no hose pressure. I will give your suggestion a try and hopefully save myself from buying a new pump. Next winter I'll be storing my pressure washer inside.
You're welcome. I store mine in an attached garage and it went through the winter fine. Maybe pulling out the valve at the end of winter, cleaning in up and then reinstalling it in the spring will work for you. It's not a big deal to pull it. If it's not stuck. My brother had to do his the other day and he told me it was a bear getting it out, had to use two screwdrivers and wiggle it loose.
Thanks for the video. Saved me a couple hundred bucks. Only thing that I would add is that you beware when removing the unloader . Mine came shooting out like a rocket when I pried on it !
Thanks for posting this, Bill. It really helps when you have support like this when you're trying to get one of these units to work. Mine is like new, I bought it from someone who gave up on it after using it a few times. They probably spent $250 or so, and got to use it once or twice. They let it sit around and then I bought it without the hose and gun for $10. When I tried to start it it felt like the valves were messed up, but it turned out they were fine. It has the Briggs & Stratton "Professional 7.75" motor. They probably got more for the hose and gun than I paid for the motor and pump. Oh well.
After watching this vid I did exactly what you did and it works like a charm. It was given to me by one of my clients. This vid was a blessing because it saved me $98 to $178 on a pump which I seen on Ebay which is ridiculous. Anyway Thanks for the infor. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the video. I actually kept watching because you left in the struggle. That kept it real. I have not tried the fix yet but I have issues and I have never even heard of what was under that ole rubber cap. LOL. I will update.
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks. I was ready to go buy a new machine and I followed your directions and my units working like a charm. Have a nice Memorial Day.
Finally got the valve loose...Mine was really gunked in there..had to take the pump off the motor but your "ow to" was right on ..no more problems...THANKS!
BurbBilly, my Homelite 2700 pressure washer had no pressure this spring. I noticed dripping underneath and replaced the thermal release valve. That fixed the drips but still no pressure. Appreciate the upload. Works like new again, actually better than I can remember. Cleaned out everything with WD-40 while I was at it.
Thanks Burb Billy! I spent a half hour cursing at my pressure washer before I found this. 5 minutes later I was back in business.
+TheEviljon You're welcome Jon, happy deck cleaning.
Fixed my issue. Huge thanks! Saved me a trip to the repair shop where the shop would have charged me probably $100. Judging from the comments this seems to be a common problem with the 2700 psi unit.
+Matthew Johnson Good to hear, I'm glad it helped you out
I took the entire pump apart, changed the oil and found nothing wrong. Came inside and searched youtube. Your solution worked perfect. Thank you.
+Anthony S You're welcome Anthony. I'm glad it helped you out
we let it set and low and behold the washer would not work again. Run but no pressure. I decided to check out some videos on the subject and this was the first one. I tried what billy said wouldn't you know that was the problem. Thks a bunch. Runs like a champ again. The valve was stuck.
Glad it helped you out Steve
While my pressure washer is brand new, I love learning more about small engines, etc. This is just another trick up my sleeve to diagnose an issue! Thanks!
You're welcome
Thanks, Burbbilly you are the man, I was about to purchase the unloader valve and then you came to the rescue. Keep it up!
Just want to say thanks - saved me from spending $300 on a new pressure washer
Had low pressure issue with my pressure washer, I was able to fix and get it back up and running again, without having to buy any parts! Thanks to this guy's video tutorial... Thanks again :-)
You're welcome Michael. I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for the post
You're welcome Robert, I'm really glad to hear it helped you out.
Man! I just watched your video and I did exactly what you did and my pressure washer works again!!!!! You saved me a ton of money!!! Thank you!!!!!!!
This fix works! The instructions are perfect. 10 minutes instead of an expensive and time consuming pump replacement. Well done!
Thanks Chris, appreciate the feedback/kind words
(Most pump storage liquid is typically inexpensive RV antifreeze.relabeled as “storage fluid” and costs 400% more..

great to see someone helping out the home owners, I work on pressure washers and small equiptment to make a living, and it's almost always the unloader. either it's stuck, rusty, or the spring is broken. occasionally the pumps puke, but that's normally from either being run with bad/no oil in the pump or being over heated by letting it idle for two long
too long. not two.....
What if it it pumps one minute then stops them pumps then stops??
You are officially my hero for the day! Needed to wash the deck and had low pressure, found your video and my problem was fixed!! Worst part was putting the retaining pin back in but one it was in, good as new.
lol I'm glad it helped you out
Thanks to your video, I was able to fix this problem! A very talented neighbor used a vintage hand vice and slide hammer to pop that valve out with one rap! Back in business, thanks to the BurbBilly!
You're welcome Chris. It's always nice having talented neighbors with tools
wow !!!! so happy I seen this post.
You're welcome Jean. Glad it helped you out. btw you're just up the road from me. I'm a few miles west of you near the lake.
Exactly what was wrong with my pressure washer today. The hardest part was finding the wrench! Thanks for the video.
This video saved me from trashing my pressure washer and your instructions were great. I can now use it and am thankful to you for these instructions.
You're welcome Dwayne

-D. Yates (Karcher Commercial Pressure Washer Tech- 25+ years)
Doug, Thank you for this info!
Thanks Daminal, good info
You are the man! I was just about to haul the washer up to the repair shop, and came across your video. THANKS!!!
Thank you so much! This quickly fixed my issue with a brand new Simpson MSH3125-S MegaShot 3100 PSI washer. I called Simpson and they were no help at all. After watching this video, I had it up and running in no time.
+mikeyzimzimmer Very Cool! Thanks for the post.
DUDE. That was perfect. Thank you. You saved me a ton of time and money.
Was about to buy a new one. Found this vid. Fixed my 18 yo craftsman washer that does the trick. You rock sir!
Thanks! Saved me tearing the whole pump apart . Literally took me 5 mins to fix. Thanks again!
Burb Billy,
Nice job. Took 5 minutes to fix and I am now up and running. Thanks for the tip
i was about to order a new pressure wash pump !! mine broke about two years ago after I left it in the shed during the winter months!
You rock. Almost dropped $100 for a new pump. Works perfect. Thanks so much for the video.
Thanks Shawn, appreciate that I'm glad it helped you
Hey thanks for posting the video. You saved me big time! Took me lexx than 10 minutes to get my pressure washer up and running after watching the vid. Thanks again!
+Aaron James You're welcome Aaron
My machine wouldn’t work tonight. Watched your video. Tried the fix and boom it worked.
Thank you!
My wife learned a long time ago to leave my ass alone. If I break it, I paid for it. So go back in the house and watch TV or something......
That worked awesome, got back from riding, bike was mudded up good ,went for the Power washing naturally not working pulled the pin out Walla done deal perfect working condition thank you
You're welcome Matt, I'm glad the video helped you
Thank you so much. Mine was doing the same as yours. After watching your tutorial I got mine back running again.
Hello Billy, thanks for the video. My dad and me didn't know what was wrong with R pressure washer , come to find out after watching your video it was the unloader valve. We took it out and and banged on the spring and presto it was working again. Thanks again Billy for your video.
+Richard Donnelly Jr. You're welcome Richard. Thanks for the post, I'm glad it helped you out.
I have the exact same model washer and had the exact same issue. Followed this video and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Thanks for a great tip!
You're welcome Stephen
I got the same machine & same problem
Gonna try this tomorrow
Thanks 4 showing how 2 fix
@@mgomez5606 ya it did
Billy You rock, You diagnosed my problem and shared with me how to fix exactly as you shared! Thanks Dude!
Thanks, I did that and it worked! Even though I have a Troy Bilt, I found the valve and followed your advice Thanks again!
Just wanted to let you know the video was great and worked, Really like your easy going common sense approach. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
Oh well.
+Marc Bachman You're welcome Marc
After watching this vid I did exactly what you did and it works like a charm. It was given to me by one of my clients. This vid was a blessing because it saved me $98 to $178 on a pump which I seen on Ebay which is ridiculous. Anyway Thanks for the infor. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's great to hear John! Thanks for the post
Thank you for the video. I actually kept watching because you left in the struggle. That kept it real. I have not tried the fix yet but I have issues and I have never even heard of what was under that ole rubber cap. LOL. I will update.
You're welcome Mike.....sometimes youtube blocks me from directly replying to a comment....yours was such a case
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks. I was ready to go buy a new machine and I followed your directions and my units working like a charm. Have a nice Memorial Day.
I watched your video and with the information you shared I was able to fix my power washer. Thank you! You're a good man!
Finally got the valve loose...Mine was really gunked in there..had to take the pump off the motor but your "ow to" was right on ..no more problems...THANKS!
Nice!!! That's good to hear you got it free. Now go clean that deck.
Worked like a champ. Good thing I found your video first....I was ready to buy a whole new psi unit. Thanks again

Thanks, Burb Billy. Right to the point and much more informative than the other sites I sifted through.
