Hi Bre, Hope Ron has a speedy recovery so he can get back to working on the cars. I know he is itching to be able to get something done. Everyone there stay safe.
I just bought a Simoniz gas pressure washer for $30 from a guy who said the motor ran fine but the pump didn't work - water shoot out the nozzle. In the video, you mentioned checking that the hose wasn't plugged. I went right out, removed the hose, started the pressure washer and sure enough, the pump spurted water just fine. There was a slimy gel blocking one hose connection that I cleaned out with a small screwdriver. (I think the gunk might be congealed soap since the soap dispenser was plugged in.) It's odd that soap could stop that much pressure, but there you go! Thanks for the tip!
As one who has spent my career as a carpenter, I love you for talking about your screwups. Those screwups are what made me a great carpenter, and furniture maker. I love your channel!
Love the fact that you admit not knowing things when tackling a job for the first time, a place almost all of us have experienced at one time or many times. Hope you feel well soon Ron.
I just pulled out the unloader valve and lubricated it and put it back, that was my problem and it’s a simple fix, sometimes you have to replace them, but in my experience six times out of 10. That’s the issue.
I am in the 3rd week of Doctor (BS) while they find out if I can survive my hip replacement. I am so happy for Ron. He past all the tests, that great! Now all that is left is recovery and PT. (For You) With a little time it will be all over with and you get your old Ron back. Next: try to replace a firetruck water pump. It will keep you wondering "why did I even try this"! Good Luck your channel is great!
I just changed one last week for a guy. He left water in it over the winter and it froze! I had a heck of a time getting it off, it didn’t drop down easily like in your video. 😢. I bought the new one for $65 on eBay and charged the guy a total of $195 . He was so happy!
Hi Bre, just clicked on this video and started wondering about Ron and when will he have his surgery. Well, you answered my question and I immediately said a prayer for him. Thanks so much for the info on the pumps. I have 4 or 5 waiting for me to work on them. God bless you and yours and give y'all comfort, peace and strength.
My prayers go out to Ron. I had my right hip replaced in 2013 it's been going strong ever since. I did have an extended time away from work because the doctor would not release me to the 10-hour work days that we did during the summer but I could have been back in about 8 weeks. Having it done was one of my life's better decisions. Have a blessed day!
My wife who is a retired physiotherapist needs a hip replacement. She has a lot of pain. She is waiting for a surgery date. After church yesterday, I had to help her out to the car. (Yes, we also have a handicap sticker.) We live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Your TH-cam videos are very helpful. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
I always use Pump Saver whenever I put my machine away. Even if it's just for a few days. Not only does it prevent freezing in the winter but it helps keep everything lubed as well. One of those little cans lasts me at least a dozen treatments.
Good Luck Ron!! spoken while standing on a stainless and titanium knee!! 10+ years old also!! Best fix ever. KEEP IT MOVING. It really only really hurts when "warming up" after sitting still for a while.
I keep on using my 2004 Campbell Hausefeld pressure washer. I had to replace a spring in it about 10 years ago. The pressure wasn't up to snuff. It's a Giant pump. I always store it with no gas, pull it through to get the water out, and drain the hose. About every 5 years I service the pump. So far so good. You're right about the idle. I saw that in my manual. I try to never let it idle. Not even when I start it.
Best wishes for Ron. I had both hips replaced at the same time nine years ago. It was like coming back from the dead. It gave me my life back. I don't know what kind of procedure Ron's doctor is using, but my doctor used what they call the anterior approach. It requires no cutting of muscles tendons or ligaments and the recovery time is extremely short. My surgery was 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Monday and I walked out of the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. I didn't even need painkillers during my recovery and I have never looked back. Best of luck for Ron. As for you, I don't know why you would say we are troopers if we watch till the end. I can't imagine anyone turning your videos off while you were still speaking. You have great screen presence and virtually every word out of your mouth is either entertaining or informative or both. You make great videos! I tell people about you all the time.
Prayers for Ron. The secret to recovery is doing the exercises. Talking from experience. I have had both hips replaced. Tell him to take advice or painkillers about 30 minutes before therapy. That way he can do the therapy easier. Good luck🎉
I learned something today. Thanks. Hope hubby's surgery went well and he has a smooth recovery. I enjoy viewing your videos. They're always informative.
Sending healing vibes to Ron! 🙏 Many many thanks to you Bre, for making all my yard equipment manageable! If I had teachers like you in school, I would have been a valedictorian.
Great video! Ron will be fine! I will keep you guys in my prayers for a quick recovery. My wife had a complete hip replacement and was back to her normal self in only a couple days!
Best Wishes Bre, and a speedy recovery to Ron. My mother had a hip replacement last year at 81. I love that you share your knowledge with others ... for those of us mechanically inclined.
Praying for Ron and speedy recovery! Thanks Bre….as an aircraft mechanic I have got so many tips from you and work on my own stuff, you just make it easier with the tips!
Had my right hip replaced in 2022 it is night and day difference, what a game changer went from constant pain to no pain Prayer's for Ron for great recovery 👍

Bree prayers to Ron. I really enjoy working on small engines. I have accumulated a wealth of information from your channel and saved $$. Thank you and keep up the great work
My sister just had both hips replaced. excellent results. Out patient operation and home within the same day. Good luck, I bet he loves it. Thanks for your tips. This is a great channel.
Awhile back I received an expensive HRX217 (GCV190) with a busted rod & a hole in the top end. Later was given a 190 off a PW with a busted pump. Combined the best parts of the two (especially the crankshaft from the mower engine) & have been mowing successfully ever since. Probably my favorite rescue project. You are so right; keep those engines.
You are the best!! I replaced my own Subaru Pressure Washer Pump last year. Everything that you said is true! Lining up the key way was my most difficult task although the engine moving around while I was putting the pump back was a challenge too. I am 75 and not giving up yet! As for your husband, my daughter had both hips replaced when she was 40 and 44 respectively. She was in excruciating pain before and now is pain free and back to being active. Good luck to your husband. I am certain that he will have a good result. Best regards and thank you for your insights!!
Good luck with the surgery. - Good info about the idling. I've seen several people do all kinds of extraneous chores while the p.w. is idling. We didn't know....but now we do! Thanks C.!
Great topic… heading to replace my PW pump! Ron your going to feel amazing! Speedy recovery! 1 year ago I had my hip replaced. Stay on the recovery path! You’ll feel amazing in no time!❤
When you’re done using your washer remove the hoses & with the kill switch in the off position pull the cord 3 or 4 times, that will expel all the water left in the pump. Good luck to Ron.🙏🏻
Prayers for Ron for a speedy recovery and for you to keep everything going I’ve got 3 bad pump washers waiting for me to bite the bullet and order pumps they were giving to me as well, one was brand new because they just wanted to hear it run no water 💦 no pump 😅. No sense lol
Had both my hips replaced last year (5 months apart) and going for a new knee this fall. I'm confident that Ron will rock on with some new components. Also, I've had good luck with replacing pressure washer pumps. I get them from the local scrap collectors for scrap value, pop a new pump on, and resell for small profit. I'm glad you mentioned the spacer issue, I've been bitten by that one also. On thing to also watch for, is whether the hose fittings are oriented to the front or back of the motor. It's easy to get the wrong pump because of this. Good luck!
I don't even have a 2-stroke engine. I watch because much of what you teach is useful toward other things in life. y the way, I keep my inexpensive electric pressure washer in the basement with the batteries for the elect tools (like hedge trimmer). The elect. mower and chain saw live in the garage. Great episode. May your husband heal quickly, amen.
Hi Bre’, another worthwhile video. I’m waiting for a curb-side pickup from someone who has trashed their machine as i enjoy fixing things up to give them life once again so general knowledge video’s of small engine equipment is always welcome. For Ron i am sending my good wishes on a fast recovery, i hear only very positive things about hip replacements and hope that he will recover and be up and walking around causing havoc like us husbands tend to do! Cheers...
Prayers to Ron my wife had one and it’s pretty easy relative to a knee and she said two of those God bless you guys. I learned so much really enjoy your channel.
I hope Ron's surgery went well. When people store these pressure washers, they should put antifreeze in the pump. I made a pvc pipe that attaches to the water inlet of the pump, and put a valve on the other end to pressurize it and force the antifreeze into the pump. If you are not storing it for too long it is a good idea to blow the water out of the pump with air pressure. There are attachments made for this that make it easy.
Here’s to a speedy recovery, Ron! First time hearing of the 60 second idle rule, very good tidbit of information. As always very informative Thank You very much!
I paid around $3,000.00 for my Diesel 2,000 PSI Hot Water / Steam Pressure washer with an oil burner in 1989. It needs new Pistons. I bought a rebuild kit from a local Dealer who has since retired. My Pressure washer had a reservoir with a float. I eliminated the Reservoir , now the pump is fed by 40-60 PSI Cold water instead of suction. Also I have a water softer in my shop .and I feed my pressure washer with soft water. I had to acid clean my burner elements to removed all the iron and calcium before I had the Pressure washer. I was aware of not idling. I always turn off my pump if I pause for any reason more than 30 seconds.. My has electric pump belt drive 220 volts. I don't even use soap.. Hot water works great on greasy old trucks and front end loaders ect. Seems KAT is a very common brand of pump .
Prayers for a speedy recovery for Ron🙏. I have a tip that was given to me many years ago for my pressure washer and that is: When you are done, disconnect the hoses, tilt the machine towards the hose connectors, drain excess water and then spray some WD-40 in each connector and tilt machine back, then pull the cord to rotate the engine a couple times. Then cover the hose connectors. I have an old Craftsman that has many hours on it and only gets used a couple times a year but works. I have bought and resold a few pressure washers and it's definitely not worth taking the pump apart. The rubber O-rings are usually dried up and the springs under them are sometimes rusted. It's easier like you suggested buy another pump. Thank you for the reminder to never let idle?
You didn't check the UNLOADER VALVE ! ! ! Lots of times cleaning, lubricating and adjusting it fixes that problem for FREE ! ! ! Hope Ron feels better soon.
Love the channel Bre. Prayers for Ron. When pressure washers run without water flow, first, it overheats because water is designed to cool it but the big problem is is cavitation. When it gets boiling hot, it converts the stagnant water to steam. When water converts to steam, it expands 1,600 times. This is what blows seals. Any firefighter knows about cavitation. Glad to see you flowing water before you start. Most owners dry start then lay the wand down for extended periods killing the machine. These machines can be extremely dangerous. If water or mixed chemicals get injected under the skin, the tissue will need to be debrided(cut away). It basically becomes gangrenous. My friend forgot to relieve the pressure before disconnecting the hose and it injected water into his eye. Wills Eye Institute could not save it. You really should be fully clothed with eye protection. When spraying off a ladder, the back pressure has knocked people off ladders injuring them. Be aware of your effluent- crazy people today will sue you for your runoff getting into the street, their yard or the nearby stream. Go easy with it and use a wider nozzle pattern than you think you need. Pressure washers destroy masonry, especially stucco. Please keep up the vids. Perhaps more using test gizmos- pressure and vac. testing for ex. Thx
Pulling the trigger without a tip installed often blows out the O-ring in the wand (tip) coupler, then it leaks on your feet all day. Get well soon, Ron!
Knew nothing about them and get an old one, previously returned to a big box store for free. Couldn't get it to start so I tore the carburetor apart, cleaned it, reinstalled it, and got it running. But no pressure. Nozzle was partially clogged, cleaned it, still no pressure. Installed a tee at the water inlet, connected up a second hose from a second faucet and voila, good pressure. Didn't know about not letting it idle and I'll definitely remember that and really appreciate the advice!
get well ron you will be good as new .my wife and her 2 brothers all had hip sugerys my wife was always in pain best thing she did this . take time to heal dont overdo things .you dont want to redo this . good luck and chickanic keep videos coming every night i watch your videos. i am retired and stay up late love learning things on you tube thanks.harry (beerman)
you're awesome, I received a Craftsman with no pressure and have been researching how to repair the pump, would still like to, but I know finding the parts will be the problem (and it opens up a black hole of variables). I did a search on the model and only got original parts at like $300, I'll get the actual pump model now and see; but will first check the connections and inlet as you mentioned first. Great vid, good luck to Ron (he's probably all recovered now) - they knock those things out as easy as you repair.
The problem with the cheap pressure washers is their water cooled by the water they're pumping. You stop pumping the water it stops cooling. I've had clients ask why I don't ever stop spraying......
The problem is your dead-heading the pump. Every time you stop there's a sudden and drastic increase in pressure, causing excessive stress on smaller components. Eventually, something's gonna give. Idling the pump is what causes overheating.
I hope Ron has a good, speedy recovery. I've rebuilt a couple of horizontal pumps, and I don't think the seal kits were too expensive, but that was in the mid 2000's. Definitely learned a lot about them. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Yes the pumps are super easy to replace. Only three nuts and bolts. I've done a couple of them over the past few months. In the north, where I'm from, people tend to leave their pressure washers in the shed over the winter without draining the water! Pumps freeze and then crack. Bought pumps from amazon, but sometimes the pump mounts aren't long enough and the crankshaft bottoms out in the pump, or the legs don't have a cut away to clear the engine and won't be flush with the cart. No problem, just use some washers or spacers between the pump and the cart to solve the issue.
Wishing Ron every success with his hip operation and recovery, and strength for you as you stand by his side … may he chase you round the workshop soon 😊
Praying for Ron! I was a design drafter for reciprocating pumps. Materials and parts are expensive and have high tolerances. Which equals expensive ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! May God bless you@
All the best for Ron. Been there done that over 30 years ago Fell and broke it in November of last year, but I am getting around pretty good again now. It was a life changing event having it replaced in my very early 40’s.
🙏🏻 for Ron. Great video. These pressure washers can be your best friend and worst enemy. They’re great when you take care of them but there’s a lot of ways they can be destroyed…dirty water, idling, and freezing water. All in all great video. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, and yes, we will be praying for Ron for a speedy healing and recovery. Thank you, Bri.
Amen.

Ron's in our prayers. May God grant him a speedy recovery.

What an unexpected prevention - “sin no more”!
Doctors do not pay attention to the role of the Nervous system, which controls all processes and organs in our body.
This happened because the deceitful and corrupt clergy of world religions have been disseminating false teachings about the “immortality of the soul” for thousands of years: doctors and scientists who tried to claim that there is an organ in the human body that thinks, feels and controls it, were subjected to severe persecution, even to the point of destruction as heretics, because “the soul is immortal and incorporeal.”

Priests brazenly lie all over the world, but those who try to expose their lies are persecuted.
The problem is that this world is ruled by the Devil, a liar and a murderer. Therefore, there is good news about God's kingdom:
Our Creator, Jehovah God, has appointed a king, Jesus Christ, who will restore order. Even the dead will be resurrected and we will see our beloved ones again. :-)

Psalm 83: 18: "That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
Well, if he doesn't have a speedy recovery, I'm definitely blaming God.
There are enough people praying for it so He will have no excuses.
God has mercy on who has mercy on not only that but it has to be according to His will not ours. He is not at our bidding.
Said a little prayer for Ron and a speedy recovery. Keep up the Great work! I tell all my friends how good you are and to check out your channel.

Praying for him and y’all! I watch all your videos but rarely do I comment. Preciate what you do! Again praying all goes well and for healing! 🙏🏻🇺🇸🙏🏻
hello Bre, im 12 and i am a huge fan of you! thank you for another great video!
I will keep Ron in my prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. Thanks for the videos.
I have a tip that was given to me many years ago for my pressure washer and that is:
When you are done, disconnect the hoses, tilt the machine towards the hose connectors, drain excess water and then spray some WD-40 in each connector and tilt machine back, then pull the cord to rotate the engine a couple times.
Prayers for you Ron🙏🇦🇺
I really liked this video. I own two units. I am always been worried about the pump breaking now not so much. Thanks. Prayers for Ron.
You didn't check the UNLOADER VALVE ! ! ! Lots of times cleaning, lubricating and adjusting it fixes that problem for FREE ! ! ! Hope Ron feels better soon.
Hip replacements are usually easier than that pump to was to fix. 🙏 it goes great. The robotics get the angles perfect. Fast recovery blessings.
Prayers for Ron
Godspeed for Ron
Prayers for Ron! All our best! I just bought a pressure washer so this is timely information.
Go easy on him as he recovers , we men need extra babying when we are not well. Lol
get well ron you will be good as new .my wife and her 2 brothers all had hip sugerys my wife was always in pain best thing she did this . take time to heal dont overdo things .you dont want to redo this . good luck and chickanic keep videos coming every night i watch your videos. i am retired and stay up late love learning things on you tube thanks.harry (beerman)
There she is 👍
you're awesome, I received a Craftsman with no pressure and have been researching how to repair the pump, would still like to, but I know finding the parts will be the problem (and it opens up a black hole of variables).
It's a educational issue.
The retail end doesn't care if you burn it.
My handle is zip tied open and I start it like that lol
5 years and I use it alot in the shop 😊
All pressure washers are cooled by the liquid they pump.
@@philliphall5198 That's actually a good way to bypass The pressure valve that controls the engine when hard water clogs it up.
Prayers for Ron and a quick recovery, and you the care giver! Never forget the Care Giver!
Thank you Bre , wishing Ron a good recovery , I had both hips replaced last year , working good !!
Wishing Ron every success with his hip operation and recovery, and strength for you as you stand by his side … may he chase you round the workshop soon 😊
Thanks for the EXCELLANT info fixed my press washer, thanks to you, I checked hose, it was clogged! thought I needed a pump. THANK YOU!
Praying for Ron! I was a design drafter for reciprocating pumps. Materials and parts are expensive and have high tolerances. Which equals expensive ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! May God bless you@
Prayers for Ron and you. Thanks for all your info and help. I will have my hip done this fall.
All the best for Ron.
Been there done that over 30 years ago
Fell and broke it in November of last year, but I am getting around pretty good again now.
It was a life changing event having it replaced in my very early 40’s.
Praying for Ron & his recovery, also for you and your family. Oh and thank you for the pressure washer video
🙏🏻 for Ron. Great video. These pressure washers can be your best friend and worst enemy. They’re great when you take care of them but there’s a lot of ways they can be destroyed…dirty water, idling, and freezing water. All in all great video. Thank you for sharing.
👍Great advice! I did not know to not let it idle. I’ve had my pressure washer for 15 years and just replaced the pump for the 2nd time. Very easy.
