Outstanding tips and fantastic 100 page book. I'm new to playing acoustic guitar after playing a Mosrite electric guitar for 56 years. I'm 72 and well-versed in music theory, but brand new at applying techniques and concepts you intro in your demos and explanations. I'll be exploring your offerings. I'm mainly looking for finger style techniques and campfire songs I might play at parties with friends. My acoustic is a 2019 Martin D-18 with a contact pickup. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for doing what you do. I occasionally do what you recommend here, but more often, I use the adjacent idea of playing with major/sus4 or minor/sus2, as well as min/min7 tensions. The other related idea I get a lot of mileage out of is using the song's bassline while transitioning between chords

Awesome. Exactly what I have been looking for to help my travis patterns on open chords get to a new level. Do you have a video or course on how to learn the notes of the G Major scale and also a lesson on what you mean by 1, 4, 5 primary chords?

if you play in G, your 4th chord is C, so 1 is G, 2 is A, the 3 B, then C so that is 4th and 5th is the next after C comes D

What about a G maj with 2nd finger on the low G, (6th string)the first finger on the B(5th string). Open D( 4th string), open G (3 string) . 3rd finger on the D ( second string) and pinky on the G (first string), as another alternative to switch around with?... Btw, great lesson , touch, and tone as always.

C maj with a 6th string G base note is also useful.

This video absolutely DOES not work for anyone that plays guitar with a pick.

Use "Hybrid Picking" technique for the string skips. Watch this video if you need help with it... th-cam.com/video/FLEbYceoVZk/w-d-xo.html

Its a nylon string acoustic guitar, who uses a pick?

I play both electric and acoustic. I use a flat pick on the electric and a thumb pick on the acoustic. I have used this technique on both. Yes, hybrid picking can be utilized, but using a flat pick doesn’t have to be limiting.

      Don't use a plektrum then

It works with a pick as well. No issue I play them all the time when playing these references: RHCP: Wet Sand, Bon Jovi: Dead or Alive.
