    There is no lesson more important than this very one. Not just for guitar, or rhythm, or strumming. ESPECIALLY for grooving to a rhythm with LEAD play.
    ANYBODY who picks up ANY musical instrument, THIS should be their very first lesson. For so many reasons.
    Thank you my friend. You’re doing Gods work brother.

    Sometimes it just takes a good teacher to point out something so simple, and so evident to make you have an a-ha moment. Years I been playing and in the first 7 minutes, my strumming actually sounds like something nice. Thank you!

    I have been playing guitar for over 15 years now - self taught and musically inclined. This video is great! The bit about releasing pressure so you don’t actually have to take your fingers off the strings is a game changer. All these years, how did I not know that?! Great lesson, thanks so much!

    I found this video by accident and it really crystallised something going on in my head in that when I strum I really have no idea what I’m doing and unless I really know the song it can easily sound nothing like what it is supposed to sound like. I especially don’t know when to change cord within whatever strumming pattern I am playing. This video is inspiring and gives me an idea of what to address - so thanks and I will look up more of your videos.

    Thanks for the info and your time to explain thoroughly. I agree 100% when you said the Rhythm is more important than the Strumming Pattern 💪🏼
    I’m at the intermediate level on acoustic guitar and not quite at that level yet on the electric guitar.
    I know everyone learns in their own way but for me I find it easier to NOT think about Up/Downs but rather just know the Chords and Progressions and then just Feel and Hear my way through those Chords and Progressions along with the Timing and just play and Enjoy. Again, my opinion, if I were to have taken the approach of mainly focusing in on Up/Downs then I probably would not even be playing the Guitar. I will say that I play the Drum Kit too so I’m sure that helps with my natural GOD given talents of playing and learning by feel and hearing.
    Hope that helps someone.
    Thanks

      Thank you! I would suggest start counting or verbalising the best of any music you listen to anywhere. A really powerful thing is to physically move some part of your body in any way at all to mark or signify that beat. After a while it will become ingrained in you.

    • @utubecaud

      @@OneChartguitarlessons Thank you very much for your reply. I will follow your instructions with enthusiasm and hope to succeed. I always follow the rhythm with my foot, the pulse is not a problem and I can feel well where I am in the measure if I count 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.
      But it is very difficult for me to count and play at the same time, especially if the rhythm is complicated or if I try to play a melody, and much more difficult if I try to improvise, it is in these cases that I get lost.

    • @OneChartguitarlessons
      @OneChartguitarlessons  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's really just a matter of tempo. If it's too fast to fit the 16ths in there, call it 8ths. there's no real rule there. The idea is to make it easier and more natural for you. It you make it 8ths and you feel there are some strums in the rhythm that you're missing, that you hear "between" the 8th notes, then it's probably 16ths. I often find that listening for the snare drum helps, as there is usually 2 snare drum beats in each bar - does that make sense?

      @@OneChartguitarlessons Thank you for taking the time out to respond. I watched your video a few times before I asked my question just in case I was missing something. This piece of advice was what I needed because I found myself speeding my strumming up so I could try and sing along. Didn't know if I was breaking the rules or performing bad practice. "Reggae rock" has more intricacies then one might think, so that's what led me here. Couldn't sing along to what I was playing for the life of me. Thank you so much for helping me on this journey.
