Love this series, Love your teaching, I 'm 62 years old and was your 1st site member, I'm an intermediate player.....always picking up tips and tricks from you! Age does not limit your learning if you are willing! Keep sharing your knowledge! ❤🎉
Great tuition, great player and what a lovely guitar. I am also getting on a bit (74) and have played all my life, but you can never stop learning. I will be a regular here.
You are a wonderful teacher I've never seen so much stuff jammed into that chart of a period of time you are amazing... I've always been good at rhyming and poetry.. we used to play a game at my neighbor's house in Batavia on South Main got got everybody was a little baked and the next person has to make up the next line and every time I got to me I always have a rhyme except certain words there's nothing that rhymes with certain words... plus everything doesn't have to rhyme does it... does that one guy that makes a song everyday use AI to write them I hope not damn I can't remember the name when you're 62 your brain doesn't work as well when you get a head injury.. that is an expensive ass guitar isn't it.... maybe parents should buy a mediocre guitar R1 that's nice you can always sell it which you can never do with the cheapest one sometimes eBay will go crazy over Gibsons I got that guitar will never lose value unless you f*** it up okay I will shut the fuk up now😅 have a nice day I remember Jesse Wells........ he got to play at Farm Aid and he's not really really good I don't think it gives me hope of singing Maybe cuz I really suck love to suck keep playing people it only gets better😅😅❤❤
awesome video. I just learned from your video that I don`t know much lol! I enjoy learning different ways to play common chords and this em tutorial was very informative
You're quickly becoming my favorite guitar lessons channel. I loved the deeper dives into old blues and Hermanos Gutierrez, but these quick lessons are perfect for a rainy (Sunday) afternoon.
I really appreciate your videos. Your a great teacher man. Thank you! Keep it up. When you have a opportunity can you do a video on triads and the caged system. Typnk you again!
I am 62 and the kids that I've seen playing are so damn good it makes me want to quit.... I think some people are born with this... I only made songs because TH-cam really pisses me off even if I put a cover band I gave up I'm not going to be monetized that was 2014.. if I were going to make a song I think about a subject for like a week usually..... when I made the Woodstock tribute to I watched the movie I smoked half of a doobie I practice for 2 minutes I'm not even good at playing and I don't know what happened but it's something Supernatural it really is... I can't play it again let's see somebody else play it.. it is 10 minutes I made every video 10 minutes I wanted to make it shorter..... if you don't keep practicing your fingers will bleed again..... one thing I could teach someone I was so f***** up I couldn't even think straight really when I lived in Bedford I was too lazy to get strings I had one string that teaches you to go up the neck and you can play any note...... I got lessons at 6 years old I wrote a song it got really hard I gave up and I never should have.... you got to practice at least every day or a couple times a week so I got all these guitars.. and all I really need is a guitar like the one you have they're probably not that expensive.... a Les Paul which I have and a real Fender Telecaster without the whammy bar because I f****** hate whammy bars they never stay until I don't know why people want them want to buy a Jackson Dinky?? It's almost like new have fun cutting off the strings.... It's Made in Japan
That's good stuff. I've always wondered why i love the Em so much and i just remember bc you can do cool shit like this-even if you don't know what it's technically called. I call it the NOthing Else matters scale...no idea if that's accurate but in my head it works.
funny harmonic notes get higher as you go down the neck, (towards nut) completely opposite of fretted notes . . crazy guitars.. for some reason its actually transferring the harmonics from your finger back to the nut down the part of the string from finger towards nut and releasing... from finger towards nut that's where the sound originates, but it propagates from the finger to nut part of the string (amplifies) odd . .
Unlike normal fretting, the string is still free to vibrate on either side of your finger. You’re essentially partially muting the string, killing off all of its modes of vibration-overtones-except for the ones that have a node (dead spot) where you’re touching the string. These will have a whole number of half-waves that fit between your finger and the nut or bridge, and the ones with the lowest frequency (longest wavelength) will be the strongest. E.g., at the 12th fret you’re halfway down the string, so you’re only hearing the overtones that are some multiple of two of the fundamental frequency. The strongest by far is the one that’s double the string’s fundamental frequency, which sounds an octave up from that. Similarly, at the 5th fret, you’re a quarter of the way down the string, which gives you an overtone two octaves up. The 7th fret is a third of the way down the string; triple the fundamental frequency gives you a fifth above the octave. And so on for higher harmonics, although they tend to be pretty weak and don’t always correspond nicely to specific notes. The situation is symmetric, too: e.g., you can get the same harmonic as the 5th fret at the 24th and the 7th at around the 20th. These are a quarter and a third of the way up the string from the nut, respectively. I’ve found thinking of it in terms of fractions of string length to be really helpful in finding the correct right-hand placement for articifial and pinch harmonics. It also helps in getting a good strong sound from open-string (natural) harmonics: the best place to pluck is generally where the half-wave will have a peak. Often, shifting your right hand a bit will get you a louder, cleaner-sounding harmonic than will simply plucking harder.
I don't like the tone of Taylors when I really lay into them with a pick. I play with a heavy hand and the tone is too bright for my taste. They're quality guitars but it just comes down to the players preference and the sound they're after
i don't know what he's using but i use for my electric and acoustic electric, i use D'Addario nickel plated steel. 10 or 12. they ain't cheap, about $15 to $20 depending where you buy it from. i never went back to using Ernie Ball.
That e-cord trick.... show them the E chord trick..... it's a regular e-card slide up to whatever it is 5th 7th fret I think it's the 13th or is it the 14th it makes you sound like you know what the hell you're doing you can make a song with it it's not that hard...... if your fingers are good and calloused and your strings are not 5 inches from the fretboard like some
Nice lesson. But PLEASE stop the silly waving of the guitar neck at the end of a phrase. It’s something that has crept in and does absolutely nothing. Just let the chord ring out. Django didn’t do it, John Williams didn’t do it, Segovia, Bream, Vidovic, Stevie Ray, BB, Jimi, none of them did it. It’s the guitar teacher version of the annoying Silicon Valley “So…” at the start of every answer or the Cali Girl vocal fry or the habit of inserting “go ahead and” unnecessarily. Please stop 🤪
It actually does put a slight bend in the strings and adds just a touch of vibrato and gives a slight "wha-wha" effect. Turn it up and listen close at about 5:35. At 5:24 he moves his finger back and forth, which has the same effect but more pronounced.
I respect 🙏 your opinion on telling him not to move his guitar towards the end of his strings ringing out. I believe that serious players would tell you different. A professional guitarist knows exactly what direction his amplifier should be pointing and what area in the room does his guitar has the best dynamics

First time I've been to this channel. There's a lot of great players on TH-cam, but you are also a great teacher which is much more rare.
Nice lesson. I need to get my finger picking skills up. You made that look so easy.
Love the teaching style! Very clear and succinct.
Wow! I just love this lesson. I'm 77 and love to learn new things. Thanks.
Hi, just for your video! I’m new to guitar! Very helpful! 👍🏽

GOOD STUFF BROTHER !!!
Just found your channel...🎸❣️
Love it man !
Great stuff
Where can I actually see the waterfall riffs at the end (no video of this). This reminds me of a part from Verlon Thomspon's "The Guitar"
Great lesson new subscriber
Great video. What’s the song called again?

The exercise neatly 4:00 is reminiscent of Joan Baez Diamond and Rust.
Can you write a song with just the em and its different voicings?
Ooooo new miles 'n tricks out of one chord...
Thanks man this is cool without being complacent n complex 👍🏻
Why some people don't like the Taylor guitar. There great in my opinion...
I don't like the tone of Taylors when I really lay into them with a pick. I play with a heavy hand and the tone is too bright for my taste. They're quality guitars but it just comes down to the players preference and the sound they're after
They are brighter sounding than Martins. I prefer the Martins myself but Taylor guitars are fine instruments.
I’d like to know what Taylor model he is playing (?)
W video
Thx. What notes are you hitting on the 5th fret to get an Emin harmonic?
Highest three strings.
Can I ask what brand of guitar strings you use?
i don't know what he's using but i use for my electric and acoustic electric, i use D'Addario nickel plated steel. 10 or 12. they ain't cheap, about $15 to $20 depending where you buy it from. i never went back to using Ernie Ball.

Jasus pal slow down a bit😮
They are the closet to handmade and their price show it
First 3 minutes sound like tribute to tenacious D.. it’s not the greatest song in the world… or is it 😂?
That e-cord trick.... show them the E chord trick..... it's a regular e-card slide up to whatever it is 5th 7th fret I think it's the 13th or is it the 14th it makes you sound like you know what the hell you're doing you can make a song with it it's not that hard...... if your fingers are good and calloused and your strings are not 5 inches from the fretboard like some
Learn to play the old Peter Green/Fleetwood Mac song Oh Well, all you need to know about E minor...you're welcome.
Nice lesson. But PLEASE stop the silly waving of the guitar neck at the end of a phrase. It’s something that has crept in and does absolutely nothing. Just let the chord ring out.
