    I have had this and also the gas blower for at least 4 years. Best units I've ever had.

    That 225 is a great trimmer man I used to underestimate it cuz I wouldn't buy nothing below the srm230 but for the past 8 months my elbow has been killing me and a friend of mine has a 225 that he has that's been with him for 8 years and he has used the heck out of it commercially so I said let me give it a try amazing it has hold up for the past 6 months I've owned it and we have swapt all our articulated hedge trimmer engines and none articulated hedge trimmer and we have taken off at least 2 pounds of the hedge trimmers and they have enough power to trim hedges we love them.

      Victor Rippe yes they are an awesome product! I am so glad you enjoy using it. It may be the best low end trimmer ever made.

    Yeah these trimmers are amazing. We have 6 of them for our accounts. Never an issue with them. And we have huge accounts. They get lots of hours and never an issue. We Use the echo oil

    I just got one of these, you are the second person I've seen who mentioned using opti-2 oil. How is that working for you a year later now? Still running good?

      @LansingLawnServiceLLC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DIY Dad yes! I have been using opti 2 for a little over 2 years. Everything g is working great. No issues with any of my 2 cycle engines. I have been trying out red armor oil by ECHO as well and that seems to work well too.

    What direction does the head spin if you are looking down the shaft? I have looked for over a month at this and the Stihl FS 56 Rc-e. Got the Stihl today and it’s counter clockwise. 15+ years of clockwise spinning trimmers so counter clock wise is really messing me up. Caught a rock in the lip today.

      Counter clockwise I think

      Turns to the left if you look down, thats the way I prefer, but not everyone can take stuff hitting them. I dont mind been doing the stuff over 16 years.

    Love my echo trimmer. Hate running my redmax, they seem like they are 5lbs heavier than the echo

    I just bought this trimmer a month ago and was wondering if the gear head needs serviced like the manual says?

    • @LansingLawnServiceLLC
      @LansingLawnServiceLLC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      heavymechanic2 you can if you want, but I never did. As I said in the video I have never had to do anything to this trimmer, not even change the spark plug.

      Gary Holesak what’d you get ? What direction does the head spin if you are looking down the shaft? I have looked for over a month at this and the Stihl FS 56 Rc-e. Got the Stihl today and it’s counter clockwise. 15+ years of clockwise spinning trimmers so counter clock wise is really messing me up. Caught a rock in the lip today so thinking about returning the Stihl tomorrow

    The first time I used mine, at one point, both lines sheered off completely. I had to take the head apart , unwind the line and wind it all over again. Then this happened again that same day. It was very frustrating to have to rewind twice. Even my much maligned Craftsman didn't do that. What am I doing wrong?

      Joseph your most likely putting in the string spool the wrong side up. If you look on the string spool there is an R on one side and an L on the other for right and left. I believe you want to put the spool in with the L looking at you after you insert the spool. You may have to play with it. I have had the same thing happen to me and it can be frustrating, but once you figure out how that spool goes in you will have very minimal problems with it. Sometimes if you over load the spool the string will get stuck on itself and you will have to unwind the string so don’t overload with string. Something else that could be happening is the string could be brittle especially if you are using the string that came in the head. I hope this helps. Once you get it figured out you will love the speed feed head.

    Are the speed feed heads stock? Or upgrade?

    I sold all of my old stihl weedeaters today and bought all srm-225 this year. You can’t beat them for the price Home Depot prices matches and I found them advertised for $199.99 and on top of that had a 5 off purchase of $50.00 or more so got them for a steal. Saving almost 129.99per weedeaters and 19.99 for a speed feed head by switching from stihl add to the bottom line. Now I just need to figure out what blowers to switch to as they discontinued redmax from my dealer any suggestions?

      Red max or Stihl them are the 2 best brands hands down

    Why don't you plow in the winter

      Larry Shoop it’s basically personal preference. I don’t care for plowing snow. I also don’t care for missing family holiday get togethers.

    I don’t know why you guys are wearing those heads out you don’t bump feet it on concrete or asphalt . Feed it out on your grass . If you do it right you don’t mess up the grass , do it fast. I’ve had mine for three years never replace the head or the cap .
