Hi Michel. A well crafted project using your no nonsense approach and reuse of rusty steel. The rollers look perfect. As for your oil leak I feel your pain. Both my milling machine and lathe suffer from unknown oil leaks 😢. One day I must find where and why. 🥴🤔
Nice work on the rollers Michel. Looking forward to seeing them in use. Hope you cure the oil leak problem. I don't think the Russian election will bring any surprises, but we live in hope. Cheers Nobby
Rustinox, great video. One tip I have for your bandsaw, I have the same style. I made thumb screws to replace all the Phillips head screws for the blade cover. I can now change/fix a blade in 1/4 of the time it used to take. As always thank you for sharing your expertise. I always learn a lot.
As always, an entertaining and inspiring video. "25% extra"... Be aware! When a liquid soap bottle contains 25% more the hole is 50% larger making You consume the content 25% faster! This according to a seller for soap! Working well, well done, as always. Cheers and thank You for well recorded and presented happenings.
Hi Michel, Always good to see you making stuff. I see Paul from Haxby Shed has been chasing oil leaks today. Could you too have a blowhole in one of those castings? Look forward to seeing the rollers in action in the future. Have a great weekend!!
Greetings Rusti, as an old motocyclist (for over 50 years), I don't mess with gaskets on troublesome joints, use a good quality silicone rubber gasket maker and kiss all oil leaks goodbye forever........ BUT OF COURSE THERE IS A PROBLEM.....You have to strip the beast down again! Lookin forward to see how you fix the problem.
In the past, when doing auto repairs, we used a fluorescent dye in the oil of the component we are leak testing. With the aid of a black light, the leak will be very visible. Hopefully this will be useful. 😂
@Rustinox You should be able to purchase this product at any auto parts store, They make dyes for AC, Engine oil and transmission. You can just use a blue LED light to illuminate the dye.
it's typically shaft seals on either the big main seal behind the chuck (which is a PITA to change) or one of the shafts that run the thread cutting acme screws in the lower gearbox that leak oil most of the time
Leak-Trace is a spray leak tracing powder in a spray can. This can be used to find your leak if it is in a visable area. You spray it on the surface (surface must be dry and moisture free) like spray paint and it dries to a white power. Let it sit and any leaks will cause the powder to change color/ darken. When done you can easily wipe away the dried powder. The key to using this powder is to throughly clean and dry the surfaces to be checked. If a gasket edge is not completely dry it will show a false positive for a leak.
G'day Rusty. Since you brought up the Election, we already know who is going to Win. But coming back to Fun & Reality in our little Universe, the rollers & brackets turned out very nicely & they do a Perfect Job for what they are. Looks like you will have a 2 or 3 part series on Oil Leaks & How to Cure Them. 😮🎉😊
My lathe has a slow leak in the seals for the apron drive shafts. I am too lazy to disassemble and install new shaft seals, so I just put down some of the pads used for puppies to pee on. ( pads that are also used for patients that wet their beds)
The next time you need to do deep parting off try going in part way them move the parting tool over a bit to make the groove wider then go back and finish the rest of the operation
I don't think I have ever had a machine tool which didn't leak oil from somewhere. 0.3mm over on a 9.5mm twist drill seems in line with my experience, if you're after accurate holes drill under size and use reamers, or bore on the lathe.
Love your work, just a question what is the best way to make a cross slide gib for my lathe it’s cast iron 10x16 mm 300 mm long.i love your thoughts Geoff Aust
Hi, I’ve been wanting to trade stickers with you and sent an email weeks ago but haven’t heard a reply so I’m assuming you didn’t get it so I’m reaching out.
Hello Michel,
Nicely done... Sorry I've been on the missing list but back now...
Take care.
Paul,,
No problem, Paul.
Thanks for the video Michel, it is always a pleasure to hang out in your shop with you. Have a Nice weekend!
Thanks Howie.

A pain indeed.
nice one Michel, can't wait 👍👍👍👍

Thanks Nobby.
Hi Rustinox, some fun and games, lol. Got there in the end. Rollers look good. Cheers Tony
Thanks Tony.

Good idea. Thanks for the tip.
Watching that tool holder bend in the lathe was so neat to see
Well, for me it wasn't :)
Another great video! If I have not said it before, I"ll say it now: I really like your belt sander! It looks very handy.
Thanks. It's indeed very handy. I use it a lot.
Excellent as always. Thank you s8r!
Thanks.
Awesome job Michel, love your sense of humour!
Thanks.

That makes sense.
Handy set of rollers, I'm intrigued to see them in use. Of course you could also screw them to the bottom of your shoes and go roller skating! 😂
Well, it's for welding longer round pieces.
Straightforward project 👍 Thanks Rusti
Thanks.
Great poject Michel...like the vote gag too😎
Thanks Al.
Maybe a thicker oil will stop the leak?
If not, maybe a catch tray to divert it into tin can?
I will figure it out.
Nice job as always. You need a sign “In Rust we Trust”.
Good one. I just have to figure out a layout.
Oil leaks can be a right pain in the posterior, nice outcome on the rollers though. 👍
Indeed, leaking oil makes a mess.

Don't know. But I will figure it out.

I know liquid gaskets work very well but I'm not a big fan of it.

Never heard of that methode.

Забавно! И у нас в России тоже протекает масло в станках и лента пилы падает...😁
Leaking oil makes a terrible mess :)
I can't find it 3 years!
My lathe has a slow leak in the seals for the apron drive shafts. I am too lazy to disassemble and install new shaft seals, so I just put down some of the pads used for puppies to pee on. ( pads that are also used for patients that wet their beds)
What works well too is cat litter.
I tossed on a shaper clip, several more coming this week.
Nice.

Well, even then it fails.
👍😎
Thanks.
Maybe it's not leaking oil, it's just self lubricating. All about perception
Even the floor?
Thanks
:)
They have toolpost grinders, how about a toolpost bandsaw.
That's a brilliant idea.
I don't think I have ever had a machine tool which didn't leak oil from somewhere.
0.3mm over on a 9.5mm twist drill seems in line with my experience, if you're after accurate holes drill under size and use reamers, or bore on the lathe.
It's the drill chuck that's out of centre.

I depends on what kind of machines you have access too.
I don't know who's going to win in Russia, But I do know who's going to lose.😁
Makes sense.
Look out who ever runs for office in Russia. Nice one Rusti.
Thanks Randy.
Nice work! Hope you can fix your oil leak. Always enjoy!
I will. Thanks.
Great stuff 👍 🇬🇧
Thanks.
wrong script!! LMAO
Thanks.
Great video, rusty..
Thanks.
Cant wait to see what the rollers are for. Perhaps you could have put a 10mm reamer through the drilled holes, then make 10mm axels?
These don't need to be perfect. It's for welding.
In Soviet Russia, Presidents elect themselves 😂
Could well be.
Super cool idea. I could see a hardened and ground version being a nice little inspection tool.
With quality bearings, it would work very well.
