How much overhang do you usually give to a 20mm vitrified 600mm x 600mm slabs?

Our builder gave us a much larger overhang. One slab came out when I stepped on the overhang. Will normal mortar fix this enough to stop this happening? Or am I screwed?

I guess this is for resin then... would never use resin... just degrades massively over time and big job taking it all out !

Yup, resin is a false economy.
