Thank you so much for taking us through the disassembly of the TS12. I bought one about three weeks ago and just got it. It seems like a great gun, excited to shoot for first time but wanted to go through a complete disassembly before I go shooting to understand all pieces. Hope your eye gets better soon. Thanks again.

Mahalo for stopping by my friend! Yes the TS12 is awesome, I have just short of 4k rounds through mine and I’m just as excited shooting it now as I was on the first round! I’m glad I could be helpful and I hope to hear from you again in the future!
My eye is all good, for now lol

Mahalo piha for the kind words my friend! I’m happy that one of my videos could be useful to someone. I’m really excited for you that you have a TS12, is t it awesome? Lol I’m heading out to the range this weekend to put a couple cases of shells through mine to see if after 2k+ rounds I’m still getting issues at around the 400 round mark after a cleaning.
I’ve found that for my copy I have perfect reliability with all loads meeting factory spec until about 400 rounds, then I start getting FTE with lighter loads. Since then I break down and clean mine thoroughly every few hundred rounds or so, but just curious to see if things have changed after many many rounds through it.
Have a great weekend, thanks for watching!

Really like mine. Not a problem with the TS12, but I fired about 30ea 2 3/4" Herter's rifled slugs through it. Everything seemed fine until I went to clean the barrel. Wow, was it ever leaded up from those slugs. Took 3 days of periodically soaking Shooter's Choice lead remover and a bronze brush to get the lead out. Watching a few YT channels shooting boxes of slugs through their shotguns must be leading them up something horrible. Maybe the magic of YT prevents any lead fouling of their barrels......LOL.

Aloha nui James! Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been having a CRAZY schedule lately.
I COMPLETELY understand where you’re coming from; I have had a complete reconstruction done on my left shoulder (my strong side) back in my wrestling days.
Are you having the surgery done open or orthoscopic?
I will run through my notes and put some suggestions for low recoiling rounds in my deep review of the TS12, you’re not the only one asking about it.
I have a Carlson’s Breacher Choke on mine which produces a very very slight reduction in muzzle rise and recoil. I know that there are a few more aggressive muzzle devices out there but as I don’t have an extensive personal experience with any of them, I’m hesitant to give recommendations.
I appreciate the sub, if you have any more questions at all or anything else I might be able to help you with please please let me know, and also keep me updated on your shoulder.

Have you had any issues with the two tow bolt pins on the bolt carrier/assembly? One of mine snapped in half at the tiny retaining groove which is milled into the center of the pin lengthwise. Contacted IWI and they are sending out two new pins free of charge. This is the only problem I’ve had in over 1000 rounds, so not too bad😃

After many videos. Today I finally shot it. Indoor range so only slugs allowed here in CA and closest range to me. Anyway after many shops looking for slugs without luck finally the best deal bulk I found were Winchester defender elite 2 3/4 1600 velocity... Not a shotgun kind of guy and new to firearms specially shotguns.. but if I ever did loved one wanted it to b this one. It kicked like a mule...thought it would so the first round I shot it away from my face down range just to get the feel of it. Then I continued to shot. Rotate. Finished all rounds. I knew then wasn't going to b able to press it against my face to even try to use my iron sights and aim. 200 rounds on High setting with 3 miss feeds or "malfunctions" all the same issue. Round getting stuck inside the chamber not feeding a new round. Very smokey too.. looked like it got so hot that it began to burn the factory oil. Wasn't very fun to not been able to aim or the kicks. Wanted to get through the break in part of it. I think am going to continue to look for other types of ammo. Perhaps less velocity/power. Find a open range to experiment with different kinds of ammo not just slugs.. It looked soo much smother on the videos. Anyway I decided to post this comment of my experience w this gun as new user. So don't judge me just pray for mee😁

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Aloha nō my friend! Thank you so much for posting your experience for everyone here! I’m sorry to hear you had some issues at the range that kept you from enjoying your time; that’s never fun and is always a drag.
Curious to know, what weight shot are those slugs you were using? I’ve tried Remington slugs 7/8 oz @ 1850 FPS and those would always hang up even on the low setting.
The manual recommends 1 1/8 oz 1200 FPS for function, I’ve found if I’m anywhere below that threshold in weight I will have a malfunction somewhere in the 12/15 rounds.
I think something moving slower could be more comfortable for you. I’ve tried messing around with push/pull on this and it’s possible but kind of weird to get used to, for me, rolling my shoulder forward and sitting the butt in the pocket of my shoulder helps a lot as well, but generally something moving slower won’t have as much recoil, if possible look for something close to that 1 1/8 OZ 1200FPS gold zone.
I really hope you find something that works for you and you’re able to enjoy your TS12. I’ve got my hands in all kinds of things right now, but still pushing to get my deep review on this out to everyone; I’ve gotten TONS of questions and I think it’ll be made better with me answering them all in the video. I will include a part inspired by your message about recoil and such.
I’ve continued shooting and playing with different things, disassembling, reassembling, trying different accessories and so far I’m over 1600 rounds through.
Thank you VERY much again for your thoughtful reply; it’s this kind of knowledge sharing and interaction that I hoped to have on my channel, so this can be a place where everyone learns from one another.
      Aloha nui loa

Aloha e my friend so sorry for the late reply. I don’t remember if this is my full strip down or just the field strip, but as for the full tear down, yes definitely not tool-less, but that holds true for most firearms, even Glocks require punches and picks/ tricks to fully strip and separate the parts. The TS12 field strip for regular cleaning is pretty easy, maybe some people might need a punch for the stock, but one can also use the charging handle.🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

10:30 this part was excellent. I've been having cycling issues, and was confused by the manual telling me not to oil the piston and adjustment valve, even though both were filthy. I will try using bore cleaner on both of those parts, hopefully it works!

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

TerrenceZ I’m glad I was able to help you out.
The MAIN thing is both of these guys have to be absolutely dry when you reassemble.
Soak the piston in bore cleaner, take a nylon brush to it (tooth brush is good too), same for the adjustment valve. The adjustment valve is easy to take apart also but I left that out because when I did mine, the inside was still pristine.
Whatever you need to do to get them clean just make sure they’re dry going back in. You can oil the threads on the adjustment valve but nothing else.
      Hit your housing as well.
What’s also key is making sure you’re using ammo that is at least 1 1/8oz shot going 1200FPS or more. I’ve gotten away with using lighter loads but from that point in it’s hit or miss.
As shitty as it is to accept, i think it’s paramount finding what loads function and stick with those. The good news is I’ve found a lot of the cheap low brass shells available in my area (7.00/25 shells, cheap for Hawai’i) were completely reliable.
Let me know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can help you with. Also keep an eye out for my 1000 round review, I’ll have it out soon.

@@PeaK808 That would be awesome! I put 100 rounds through mine (Wolf 00 buck) and 10 Hornady slugs with no issues, however when I tried Winchester 1oz Super X, I ran to ejection issues (too light possibly-1.8 oz recommended by IWI). What do you think about lubricating magazines by cycling dummy shells coated with oil? Somebody has mentioned it already. Anyway, thanks for being the first one to post cleaning instruction for this incredible gun. I sense your subscriber base will skyrocket!

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I’m wrapping up final edits for the cleaning video; I’m making a long version so I can be as informative as possible with the process, and then taking that video and chopping it up to make a short version.
Yes, as far as MY experience goes, if the shells you’re using are anywhere outside of what IWI recommends, you’ll run into issues. Depending on the load, the issues might pop up sporadically or more often.
So I originally threw a light coat of oil down the tubes just like how you said. After tearing down the firearm and not being able to figure out a way to get into the tubes to clean them, I think it would be better to not put any kind of oil down there.
My reasoning is since the tubes can’t be opened but have a drainage hole at the bottom, stuff can come out if need. If we put lube inside, any type of debris will stick to the oil and might cause issues down the road.
Like I said, I DID put some oil down there to begin with, but as of now, about 1600 rounds later I haven’t run into any issues caused by that.

Hey man, I ran into something that I haven't heard you mention in any of your videos. This may be common knowledge for anyone who knows more about shotguns than me ( I have always been a rifle and pistol guy) but I thought it'd be something worth mentioning in any upcoming videos you may make. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I wasnt able to fit 5 2 &3/4 inch shells in my TS12, after a lot of digging I discovered that roll crimp shotgun shells are slightly longer and you will only be able to fit 4. After some playing around I found out that you can fit 2 roll crimped rounds and 3 fold crimp rounds to get five in a tube. Also there are these funky Brazilian rounds that weren't produced to spec and wont fit 5. Just thought I'd throw this out there since you see to have a decent following for the TS12.

Aloha nō my friend! Lol, I didn’t even notice that I made that remark about finding the hole until after I played the video back when I was done editing. I’m glad someone got a laugh out of it besides me🤣
YES! That is some good information to know concerning shell sizes, crimps, and how it pertains to capacity. Did those funky Brazilian shells happen to be Rio?
I’ve dropped the term “to spec” in regards to velocity and weight of loads but didn’t elaborate on how that also relates to shell size.
I’ve been working for a long while on a deep review which began as 1k rounds later and has now turned into a 6k+ rounds later video. I’m planning on including A LOT of TS12 information including shell sizes, pros/cons, manipulations, slug selects and a whole bunch of other things I’ve learned after shooting nearly 7k rounds.
I really appreciate you checking out my channel and dropping this knowledge in the comments; these types of interactions where we all get to share information and have meaningful interactions with one another is something I really wanted to have happen on my channel, and I really appreciate you contributing to that.

MarSin 🤙🏾 right on I’m glad I was able to provide some useful information to you. I’m working on edits to my 1000 round review; that video should be dropping in the near future.
The TS12 ships with both modified, and improved cylinder chokes. Both of these CAN be used for home defense, but IMO, it’s more important to get out to the range and check the patterns on different loads.
At home defense distances (10yds maybe?) in my opinion it’s finding loads that pattern the way you like more so than the choke.
I don’t want to speak about products that I don’t personally own or have tried out for a substantial amount of time, so I can only comment about the carlson’s breacher choke I have in the video. I’d think it’d be pretty good for home defense as it’s pretty pointy and I for one wouldn’t want to get jabbed in the face with it.

      @PeaK808  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Aloha nō my friend! Thanks for checking out my videos!
This is a question I’ve received a lot, and I’m going to be addressing g this in my “7k rounds later video” (it might be 8k by the time I’m ready to drop it lol)
To keep it short, as long as you run shells that are to spec in length, weight, and speed, in my experience, there are no issues as long as the gun is maintained.
Some shells like fetter, Rio, and other more affordable brands have been slightly longer than stated on the box in my experience and it has caused issues.
For me, it’s important to keep the gas system especially the piston and housing cleaned about every 600 rounds or so (it was 400 approx but that number has climbed as I’ve used this gun more and more.
You can be a little under in weight if the speed is higher on 2 3/4 inch shells. The gun is more forgiving with 2 3/4 inch shells as the bolt doesn’t have to travel as far back to eject them as they do with 3” shells.
I hope this helps, and stay tuned for my next, deep dive review on the TS12 after 10 million rounds or whatever it is when I get to finishing edits
      Have a great week🤙🏾🤙🏾

I've only put 165 rounds through it evenly spread across 4 different visits to the range. 1st visit i had 4 failure to feed, 2nd visit 2 fail to feed, and 3rd visit shot flawless. 4 visit was horrible because the auto feed feature wouldn't work and it basically turned into a standard single magazine shotgun. I'm worried if i made a mistake somehow while cleaning and reassembling but after finished all my functions check work properly. When I load it I like to have to bolt back/action locked back and open so when I'm in shooting position and pointed down range I only have to rotate a loaded tube to the chamber and the auto load feature does its thing and I'm loaded hot and ready to shoot. I prefer this method over rotating to a loaded tube and then still having to rack in a round.
Super frustrated and need to figure this out. I'm to the point of calling IWI.

      Ellen Williams Aloha Ellen,
I wish I had some good news for you like, “OH it’s this!” Sadly I do not.
I doubt you did anything wrong in reassembling that would cause or exacerbate this issue.
I’ve only had this happen before using a certain type of ammo (it wasn’t Rio, and I cannot remember what it was, but I remember that it was also slugs to spec). It would always hang up forcing me to close the bolt manually with the release.
I’ve never had this issue happen again after I ran that single box, and I’d like to say that it’s an Ammo related issue...
I wouldn’t hesitate to call up IWI and tell them what’s going on. I’ve dealt with them before concerning left handed conversion of this platform and they were pretty cool. I would suggest trying to run a couple different boxes through to see if the problem persists.
It’s a shitty fact but one that does need to be accepted; find a load that works (or two or thee) and stick with them. Luckily (for me) the cheap stuff runs perfectly in my copy, as does the heavier loads I like to shoot.
I hope you’re able to resolve the issue or get in contact with IWI. I’m dropping my 1000 round review on this shotgun soon, I’ll make another in the future trying all kinds of ammo to see what works and what doesn’t, but I truly hope you get things figured out with yours
      Sorry I couldn’t help more

I remember reading somewhere that Rio rounds have issues in the TS12 because of either their size or the lip of the cartridge is a little different size than most 12GA rounds. I'm pretty sure that your problem stems from the Rios, not the Tavor. Wish I could remember where I saw that to confirm that for you.

    • @ellenwilliams9721
      @ellenwilliams9721 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@jonathanakaplan Yeah... sadly i think this is true with the Rio rounds being the problem. And...FML because with the disgusting surge in cost and limited availability of ammo I bought 500 slugs :-( before everything sold out.
I had a couple Federal & Remington slugs leftover and they seem to auto load fine.
Also think its worth mentioning that i'm only 235 rounds in (I usually only shoot slugs and its an investment), and IWI says you need to cycle 250 to fully complete the "break in" period. However Ive seen several reviews where people have claimed after the 1st 40-60 rounds that their ts12's shoot flawlessly anything and everything.
Just my shit luck on picking Rio...
Going to the range later today and will give everything some fresh oil and to save costs will cycle 100 rounds of Federal 7 1/2 shot to manufacturer specs. After I'll try the Rio, Federal, & Remington slugs again.
*Finger crossed* these Rio rounds cooperate!

Aloha e my friend! Sorry to hear about your situation!
I have good news and bad news for you: the good ish news is if you purchased your TS12 before a certain date (I’m sorry I can’t remember the exact date off the top of me head, but all the info is in my video here th-cam.com/video/jwdo51g-uN0/w-d-xo.html) IWI will convert your TS12 for free.
Otherwise, you’ll need to send it back to them and pay for a conversion. Either way, it’s far less than ideal
The bad news is, even though the TS12 was marketed as being convertible by the end user a few years ago before it was officially released, IWI had to make some changes to increase reliability which made the end-user conversion a thing that went to the chopping block.
I’m sure it’s possible, but I haven’t figured it out as I have been unable to purchase a right handed bolt on its own.
I am primarily a left handed long gunner, but I do shoot my TS12 right handed (it is a right handed model) as most people I will take shooting or have as students will be right handed.
I get an occasional kiss by a hull at the very tip of my chin shooting left handed with 2 3/4 shells, but it’s very minor.
I do understand your frustration though, and I hope you’re able to resolve this. Please keep in touch and have a great weekend🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

      Aloha nō my friend!
So the short answer is no. I’ve called IWI regarding left handed bolts for both my TS12 and my X95 and there aren’t any left, anywhere on planet earth.
They were VERY helpful in giving me contact information for numerous certified armorers all over the country whom they said may have bolts in stock. I called the whole list and the situation is the same across the board.
Once I’m able to get my Polynesian paws on a left handed bolt for the TS12, I’ll definitely be making a video on how to convert this guy at home🤙🏾

The more I shoot this guy, the more I enjoy it.
I’m finishing up the edits on a video about my thoughts of this platform after 1000 rounds; I also cover the small upgrades I’ve made, the breacher choke being one of them.
I will send you the link when I’m done.
To answer your question, this choke made a very small, but perceptible difference when using hot 3 inch shells. Carlson’s does have a choke brake in their inventory, but this is not it.
This choke is specialized for breaching doors, so the ports are designed for venting the gas safely when held against a surface more than reducing recoil and muzzle rise.
There are better choke brakes available if what you’re trying to focus on is mitigating recoil and muzzle rise.
Thanks for the message! I really value interaction and conversation, it’s how we all learn and help each other out🤙🏾

Aloha nō my friend🤙🏾. I hadn’t experienced that with mine out of the box. The first time I reassembled my TS12 after tearing it down I had that issue. For me, I had over tightened the connection above the magazine tubes, below the charging handle. I backed that out after checking to make sure the washer was in place, no further issues.

@@romkoy8145 Aloha my friend, sorry for the late reply; I just got home a few hours ago and spent a couple hours messing around with my TS12 to see if I could replicate your problem.
Does this binding occur just with dummy rounds or with live rounds also?
If it’s happening with dummy loads, are you finding your dummy loads aren’t ejecting as well also?
If you’re only having the issue with your dummy loads, I will venture to say it’s the practice rounds and not your TS12. For me, I found some of my older, more used snap caps are losing the hard edge around the rim which both causes this locking issue, and is also leading to weak ejection.
New dummy loads don’t have this issue and neither do live rounds (for me)
Let me know how it’s going for you, I’ll keep messing with mine to see if I can come up with a better solution.

Aloha, What island are you on? My wife and i would like to move out to Maui someday. my problem is that Hawaii is heavy on gun control. whats your opinion on that? Great video. i just ordered one today so i was boning up on it.

    • @PeaK808
      @PeaK808  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Aloha nō! I live on Hawai’i island. Any reason in particular you folks would like to move to Mau’i specifically?
Hawai’i is pretty tight on GC, but it’s better than some other places. I went to university in Dallas TX, so I know what it’s like being in a place that’s very “free” when it comes to guns, and then coming back home to what I was raised in.
This is a GREAT question I’ve decided to do a much deeper dive on in a future video, but I would say this:
Yes Hawai’i is pretty restrictive, but better than places like California where rifles need to be featureless and the magazine capacities are tightly restricted. It is looking like things are moving forward slowly but surely in the direction of things being less restrictive but it is what it is for the time being.
The island you live on and where in that island greatly determines the overall “feeling” towards firearms. I live in Waimea which is a ranching/mountain/country community, so the attitude towards firearms is more accepting than say Honolulu, which is a big city.
The town I live in also has a gun store that is very active within the community in the education of firearms (I was one of their instructors),and I can say quite certainly that the folks who run it are single handedly giving a strong push towards turning people’s minds to being more open and accepting through education.
Like I said, lots to go in to, but mahalo for the idea and I’m definitely going to be putting out a video talking about what it’s like to live in Hawaii as a firearm owner and what the laws are here.
I’m really stoked for you on the TS12.... The more I shoot it the more I love it. It’s gotten me very interested in the X95
