    Keith, I enjoy watching your videos and then tackling maintenance projects on my '11 E350 wagon. I saw somewhere else where the person who was working on the driver's side magnets on an '06 E350 used a 1/4 inch box end combination wrench to remove the torx bolts that were behind the oil cooler and the power steering reservoir without having to drain and remove the power steering pump and oil cooler. The 1/4 inch wrench fit perfectly on the torx bolt. There was just enough clearance behind the oil cooler and power steering reservoir to remove the defective original parts and replace with new ones. I figured I'd pass along the information to save someone the extra hassle of removing the oil cooler and emptying the power steering reservoir. Keep up the excellent work and videos.

    Just a heads up that your Thumbnail pic for this video specifies driverside crankshaft position sensor (which got me excited- knowing the quality of your videos) and the dilema I am dealing with on a 300. However the video is actually for a cam shaft position center- not the same. Just wanted to mention it.

    Good Video Keith. This definitely happened on my 2K5 CLK 55 AMG and my 98 E320. This was a pain in the razzz. Stealer ship charge me a pretty penny to fix on THE CLK 55 AMG . My ML 350 still going strong. ML 350 power steering leaking is a problem. That part was recalled. The stealership wanted 6K to fix. They wanted to remove rack and pinion, power steering pump, and power steering reservoir.. Just change the power steering reservoir and the leak should stop.

    That is the Cam position sensor. Nice video, Wrong title. There are intake and exhaust cam position sensors on both left and right cylinder banks. The Crankshaft position sensor is at the back of the engine, and very difficult to reach and replace. O-ring, not a bushing at 6:57. A bushing is a mechanical support for a shaft, an o-ring is a seal. Good advice to use the Bosch parts. The off brand only lasted a year for me.

    𝐖𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐖𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 on a 08 Gl450. the power steering reservoir is basically touching the radiator fan. There is only about 1-1.5 inches of space & of course thats for the radiator hose, so you literally have about half of inch of space to work with, i've cracked the 3 bolts but it's dam near impossible without further removal. nothing like the videos!

    I have a question been watching your videos on how too . I have a 2015 gl450 . I do some work my self on the car as much as possible but. I found myself with a noise on the car for about a week or so. I took it to the dealer and they wrote down on the report. “ replacement of both left side camshaft positioners and left intake camshaft. They quoted me for $9,534.24. I feel like I’m stuck against the wall because the I’m going to pay more for repairs and that kind of money I can use to pay for down payment on a car. Can you give some advice. I would appreciate it . Thank you and God bless you.

What is the difference between 2 in turn of performance? 1 is for exhaust side and 1 is for intake side, Correct? Can you swap those and what will happen? Or which one is for which? • @NackDSP
      @NackDSP 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be cam or crankshaft position sensor. Easy to swap cam position sensors between left and right bank and see if problem follows sensors moved. My engine had a failed cam positioner. That cost $4,300.00 to have repaired. Early model GL450 had a timing balance shaft pulley failure, a $5,000 repair. Search and you can find the VIN cut off for the balance shaft failure. Also these things have an intake manifold bell crank failure, and the power steering rack fails. Suspension requires replacement every 40,000 miles. That's the cost of owning the best or nothing!

    My 2006 ml 350, has a leak exactly where you mentioned. But a leak means that the sensor it's busted? Mine has a low rpm on ralentí. What's the problem that show the car when it doesn't work anymore?

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leak means the rubber bushing is no longer good. You can just change the bushing. In my opinion if you're changing the bushing go ahead and change the sensor too. They don't last forever. A broken sensor will trigger the check engine light. May cause misfires and low performance, poor fuel economy.

    I replaced all the camshaft sensors in my 2008 E350 because the codes P0018, and P0019 came up, the codes went off then codes for the crankshafts came on and I changed those as well. The engine light still kept coming back and the error code came up for the control module. I sent it out to be fix, but when I got it back the P0018, and P0019 codes came back on and and can not turn the codes off to run the engine and see if the engine light will come back on after running the engine for awhile. Also my navigation stopped working after I received the control module back. What else can I do to get my car fix and running also fixing the navigation even though I don’t really use it much.

    How do you test these sensors please? I have a code p0016. The balance shaft apparently is Ok as the year of manufacture of the car would have had the upgraded part fitted in the factory. The chain has since been changed as a few codes came up after my friend purchased the car. I believe that was all that the garage changed to get rid of the codes. There are no other camshaft / crankshaft correlation codes. Just this one.

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A few questions. What codes were seen that prompted a chain replacement? Was the chain tensioner changed as well? How many miles on the engine? Did you check the cam position manually to make sure that the cam shaft is truly where it should be? How soon after the chain replacement did you see the p0016 code? What's the year and model?

    • @JamesAllen300

It's been 7 months since the chain was replaced for the 0016 to appear. She's a late 07 AMG CLK350. I haven't yet checked the stamps line up correctly in the holes like you're supposed to do.

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would check those stamp holes next. You can also switch out the position sensors from the driver's side to see if the problem follows the sensor. Then you would know it's the sensor. Otherwise you need to check them with an icarsoft scanner.
