Something like that happened in 2010 when President Obama was in Seattle. A small plane entered restricted airspace and didn't respond immediately to warnings. Two F-15's were scrambled out of Portland and practically the entire Pacific Northwest could hear (and yes, feel) the sonic booms they created as they screamed up the I-5 corridor. The lovely couple in the small plane realized their mistake when confronted by the two fighter jets, landed in a hurry and all was Golden Grahams.

This happens more often than you may imagine. During the Bush years I was an army controller working out of Gray army airfield at Fort Hood (not the other one) which was within the crawford TFR. Every ATC facility whose airspace AF1 would traverse had to be on a conference call. So we heard everything and it was insane. There was constantly some aircraft that wasn't talking to ATC who was being closely watched.

This and a story my dad told me from one of his buddies who flown for the Air Force (dad’s army), both show that military aircraft is terrifying, but the story my dad told me was this:
A bunch of foreign pilots in fighter jets were flying where they weren’t suppose to, but my dad’s buddy was in a stealth aircraft flying above them, the foreign air crafts couldn’t detect them, but they continued flying into restricted territory until finally my dad’s buddy said over the radio: “Turn Around and go home, I can see you” very creepily as well, the foreign pilots kept looking around in their cockpits and straight up U-Turned and booked it out of the territory, then he came onto the radio with “don’t ever come back”.

The detail that the aircraft is "squawking 1200 in mode 3" just means that the pilot is on visual flight rules (VFR) and has not been assigned a specific transponder code by air traffic control. The people suggesting that a number of planes might all start heading south reflects this, unless they realized the location is not referring to them.

I spent 20 years has a central Texas peace officer. One of my jobs was to guard the president's gate when he was in the Crawford White House during the President Bush administration. One of the local crop duster pilots had a beautiful stearman.on the 13th or 14th of September right after the terrorist attack he decided he wanted to go fly his stearman about. This was during the Nationwide ground stop. He had been flying about 5 or 10 minutes when to f-18s out of fort Worth come screaming by him.they're contacting him on the radio and all of that and he chops his AirSpeed down to about 80 miles an hour.they're ordering him to the ground and he's playing coy because he's got an open cockpit and he tells him he can't hear them because of the are noise.II pilot told him if you don't land that aircraft immediately I'm going to blow you out of the..... Landing immediately was his IMMEDIATE ANSWER! believe it or not he got out of trouble by plain stupid that he didn't know the entire airspace of the entire country was shut down.

A story goes, back in the day of the Hustler bomber,1950's, 60's, there was a training exercise on the west coast. Everybody and every plane our Air Force had in the area was in on it. This one, lone delta wing bomber was cruising along flying relaxed, no rush. As the other planes were closing in they were about to call it a win for them. The Hustler pilot asked if they all had him cold, they said yes they did.
The Hustler said, "Good. Bye.". He dropped altitude down to the carpet, hit HIS engines afterburners and all. And disappeared! From sight and off radar! Seems it was built to pop up over one horizon, run in, drop a nuclear payload of bombs accurately and run away to dip below the other horizon.

@@julienrooknizan5711 you just can't make stuff up buddy. In US airspace the presidential family of aircraft all come under the control of civilian air traffic control which is governed by the FAA. Controllers are required to ensure that all aircraft readback instructions and that the readback is correct. While ATC affords the presidential family of aircraft the courtesy of priority, they do not have right of way as you indicated and must remain unde the control of air traffic control as far as is safe for them to do so.

For a time I watched a lot of videos with ATC recordings (mostly from JFK I think). From that I got the impression that complete readbacks only get used when there seems to be a real risk of misunderstanding. So there might be a lot of trust between ATC and the AF1 pilot (as well as no risk of collision with other aircraft), and thus they only bother with the minimum information exchange needed.
