- Best and Funniest Air Traffic Control New York Kennedy Steve. Navigating JFK's Airport taxiways can be a nightmare. It's a very busy airport to fly into. Now you can listen to what goes on behind the scenes with the Pilot and Tower ATC Audio.
Kennedy Steve and Boston John with his "See ya" and "Hasta La Vista" What it would be like on a Pilot's discord server but in real life IRL.
Pilot arguments with Air Traffic Control funniest moments.
See more of my videos on the home page as well as full fights.
Aircraft in this video are the Lufthansa A380, KLM 747, Etihad A380 Virgin Atlantic A330 British Airways 747 landing at LAX. Heard on this video are United, Delta Airlines and regional jets.
"The airplane was smart enough to get here but getting to the ramp is a challenge." Steve could absolutely torch 'em when pressed.
autopilot only works in the air!
This was hilarious
@@trustmeiknowwhatimdoing3720 lol
😂😂😂
I spat my coffee out when that part came in the video.
"Maintain radio silence" is the most ATC way of telling a pilot to "shut the hell up and let me do my job." LOL
Well i'm sure he responded offline "Alright f*ck you too buddy." At least that's what I would do hahaha
"If you're nodding your head, I can't see it sir."😆
He said this as I was reading your quote. So strange.
That got me too🤣
"I see you are doing it anyway, so permission granted, I guess..."
It is always better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission, but I feel maybe that doesn't count when you have an airline full of people at a busy airport
😂😂😂
@@Trains_Travel_NZ well you can do it, exactly once :D
rumor has it Kennedy Steve is still hailing Emirates 205 Super to this day
Sand people which u gona do..
😅
LOL.
"You want us to follow Lan Chile all the way?"
"Oh I don't want you to follow him to South America but all the way to the runway, yes please"
Ha, made me crack up big time!🤣
Absolute best!!!
😂
Yes, epic !!😂😂
that's my fave.. native NYker loves Steve
I miss Kennedy Steve. He was the best ATC and obviously loved his job as he could be very serious but also knew how to have fun at times.
Did he get fired?
@@andrewd433 Retired
@@richardlaundon Gotcha, he's hilarious.
@@richardlaundon is that why vids so short now?
Is he retired, at what age? This job at New York without humor, would be insane burn out!!
“Norwegian can’t figure out how to turn into the ramp - he’s working on it. The airplane was smart enough to get here but getting to the ramp is a challenge.” 😂😂😂😂
I could never have worked next to Kennedy Steve. That man would have had me laughing my ass off all day - I’d have got nothing done haha!
3:04 "It's not a good plan. It's the only one we've got though"
Gold
Kennedy Steve....if you're ever reading this....thank you. Thank you for not letting planes collide, and keeping everyone safe. I don't know how you kept your sanity.
Chivas Regal?
“Ok…so we’ve been cleared to-“
“Fine! Taxi the ramp”
“So…we’re-“
“YES! Taxi the ramp and MAINTAIN RADIO SILENCE!”
😂😂😂 he was done with him
"I dont want you to follow him all the way to south america"🤣 that killed me
Steve was a beast on the mic !
He was in total control , former pilots flying into JFK wake up sweating to this day , afraid to fuck up on his shift and frequency !
Is that ATC at the beginning? I recognised his voice and instantly thought ' Oh, these pilots have to get their act together! It's *that* guy!'
"Jetbluetug1gorightonalphayoutalkveryfast" killed me
That was superb!
Kennedy Steve was efficient and effective, all with a remarkable sense of humor. He is legend.
He is not very professional
Eh, he lengthened a taxi for 20 minutes because the pilots had the audacity to confirm turning left and he says to go right just for the heck of it for my company once. Power corrupts
@@Redridge07 For a New Yorker, that's professional
@@Redridge07Ah, I see.. You mean uptight.
@@inventiveowl395 Yeah, people like @Redridge07 expect you to FIRMLY insert a MASSIVE stick up your ass. That way you can assure no humor can be used during anything productive. You see, the type don't believe that you can be highly professional, highly regarded, and damn good all while maintaining upbeat and humorous interactions. It just doesn't compute and that's the reason for the stick. It can reach far enough to engage the "Be that guy" button which accomplishes removing any and all social interaction abilities. :)
"If you're nodding your head I can't see it" Makes me laugh every time
I hope Kennedy Steve is doing stand-up comedy shows in his retirement.
He'd have an audience rolling on the floor, while he insults them! 🤣
No need to read the title or description to know that this ATC guy was at a New York airport. I love it.
Steve is essentially an FDNY kitchen full of fighters busting each others chops distilled into an air traffic controller fielding people from all over the world from different cultures. Brits keep their cool the most with him it seems, probably used to him seeing as it's JFK, lol.
Yep!
"Ya killin' me heah" 😂
"I can't read your lips from here." Classic Kennedy Steve!
Allegedly conversation between Frankfurt and a BAflight (Brithish Airways")
BA pilot asked for confirmation of something...
Frankfurt "have you never been to Frankfurt before?:
BA pilot "No, but my Grandfather flew over in 1943, but he didn't stop"...
There's another story that goes similar to this.
An American was traveling to France, and upon arriving, he was fumbling, trying to find his passport. The customs agent rolled his eyes and told him he should have known to have his passport at the ready. The traveler apologized and said last time he was in France, he didn't have to show his passport. The customs agent said that was ridiculous, and France has always required showing your passport. The traveler snapped back, "The last time I was here was in June of 1944 and i couldn't find one single Frenchman to show my passport to."
Hope you enjoyed the laugh, just wanted to return the favor.
some people in the comments are really upset by the way this guy talks, but for a new yorker hes being straight up friendly with them lol
Americans are kind of known for being crass and or abrasive, but my experiences in New York showed they are on another level
I'm from the UK and I have no problem wit Kennedy Steve.
Right? This whole video is "welcome to NYC!". Lol
@@drd675 American tourists are the worst.
@@drd675They are a unique group even to the rest of us in the Mid-Atlantic region. Only possible rival is New Jersey.
It's been at least a year since I last listened to Kennedy Steve. Hearing him makes you want to drive/fly over to Long Island just to see all the controlled chaos.
I love when ATC gets fed up and just tells the pilots to shut up
It's like a call center without the mute button... I love it.
Except funnier because if you don't listen to the ATC, you won't make it out alive 🤣
The best one for my 35 year Airline Career:- " Sydney Tow Charlie Zulu Alpha there appears to a Beer can on the taxiway" (Sydney Tower Australia) "Charlie Zulu Alpha, full or empty?".
Every pilot on the ground grabbed the mike but we were too slow.
BTW We were the only Airline in the World that asked Clearence Delivery for a "Green Flight" clearance & we got special priority. (The "Greeny" was the local Hotel ATC & us drank at).
‘Well, I don’t want you to follow him to South America…..’ 😂😂
"If you're nodding your head, I can't see it".😅
Pretty sure I talked to Steve years ago when flying the Saab out of JFK. What a legend.
Cool!😎👍
God I love this guy. He should write dialogues for films.
Taxi to the ramp and maintain radio silence. Professional way of saying "Just go and STFU!"
He was always worth the price of admission.
"Follow the rich people on your right" - picture is of a lufthansa with an Emirates on it's right. Love it.
I was sad to not hear "Earth to Emirates 205 super!"
Also "I deserve ramp pay for all this work" - unironically true. Idk why ramp earns more than ATC.
Lufthansa first is so much more expensive as well lol
No it must have been a private jet like gulfstream or global
He does the "rich people" joke a lot. It's always a private jet.
As far as I know after Kennedy Steve retired from ATC he became a ramp manager.
@@georgeh5075 Lufthansa first is nicer than Emirates first IME.
A national treasure Kennedy Steve was!
ATC is like a FaceBook discussion - if you can serve a sarcastic remark you score
This is so NY I thought we were gonna get "EYY I'M TAXIING HERE"
This controller has a funny way of talking with pilots 😄
He's a new yorker that's how they all speak
JFK: nothing like being at a state of the art 1936 airport designed to handle maybe 50 flight each day.
you're thinking of LaGuardia
@@shchorss Yeah, that was a bone head on me.
Just love the accent of the BA (Speedbird pilot) so calm and professional.
Remain radio silence AKA shut up 🤣
There will never be another like Steve.
Pearson Dave is shaping up to be the successor.
I have an image in my head of this guy just corralling a bunch of unruly tugs from the tower like goats.
Man I could make a full hour comedy routine from these ATC recordings
There will NEVER be another Kennedy Steve
I don't want you to follow him all the way to South America lmao! That was classic.
Yuk know, the world is a sadder place since Steve retired! I miss his humour.
“If you’re nodding your head sir I can’t see it” killed me 😂😂😂
Kennedy Steve is a legend
There should be a reality show called “Real ATCs of NYC”
That would be incredible. Only reality show I’d watch
Kennedy Steve…… aka
Mr.Sarcasm , gotta love him. 👍👍👍👍
Kennedy Steve. One of the worst ground controllers I ever experienced in 30+ years of international piloting to major airports. Along with another female JFK controller. Amazing how many clips online there are of confusion between controller and pilot that involve him, and JFK. Instead of throwing up red flags some people interpret it as good controlling and entertainment. His derogatory and frankly bullying conspiratorial “asides” to usually USA carriers, often at the expense of pilots of foreign non-English speaking nations, reminds me of schoolyard bullies & one of the most utilised examples of inappropriate behaviour used in CRM courses; the one where the Captain’s and Flight Engineer’s belittling of the F/O led to a fatal crash….. the “difference between a co-pilot and a duck” story, where the F/O’s last words were something like “die you ****” shortly before impact. Sadly, several of the current JFK controllers continue in the same tradition. What many KFK controller fans do not realise, is that behind the scenes, most international carriers (and I suspect a good many domestic carriers) hold JFK and its controllers in poor esteem, but either are too polite or realise it is pointless to point it out or comment on it. A controller’s job is not to belittle and entertain. The “Kennedy culture” in a cockpit would never be tolerated in modern cockpit, with this exact type of culture and behaviour addressed as negatively impacting on safety at every CRM course developed. It is also interesting to note that the worst of JFK behaviour is experienced amongst Ground Controllers, which leads me to suspect that the people in charge actually recognise the problem, and places those people where they could do the least amount of damage. With my carrier I been flying regularly to 9 or so of the largest USA airports. While JFK has largely remained the same for the last 20 years that I have operated there, airports like Chicago, LAX and Miami have massively improved and have become a pleasure to fly to. Kudos to MIA which has a great reputation amongst foreign crew. We suspect they must have got a CATCO appointed there several years ago who was on a successful mission to standardise with international norms.
I was based at JFK flying for United 2000-2015 and absolutely loved working on ATC with Steve!!
I understood about -10% of this but still hilarious
😂😂😂 love him ❤❤❤ don’t talk to me until you’re taxiing 😂
Kennedy Steve was great. I love pulling up some of the old videos to get a laugh.
"Maintain radio silence" 😂🤣😅😂🤣😅
Kennedy Steve was a legend!!! Loved hearing him, bring him back!!!!!!
"if u are nodding your head i cant see it"😂😂😂😂
Knowing very little, this was still amazing lmao
That voice is none other than Kennedy Steve😊
“Getting to the ramp was a challenge”😎🤣
You know you've watched too many ATC recordings when you can recognise their voices!
This is gold. It’s like you you stuck Lois C.K. in the tower. 😂
I love Kennedy Steve!
He was on fire that day 🤣😭.
Dang! These videos are good! 😂
The tug exchange got me 😂
I would have such a hard time keeping my composure with this ATC dude. I have this problem, once I start laughing? I’m done. Take me outta the plane 😂😂
He sounds and talks like somone from the "sopranos" lolol, almost expected to hear him say" You're gonna get whacked if you make that turn" lolol
God I love Steve.
Great stuff!!
Loving this. 🤣I miss the days of being able to put on the headphones early on the plane and tune to the channel to listen to this kind of conversation... if that is still possible when flying, someone please let me know. Cheers
Get a data plan on your phone & only turn airplane mode on once the plane gets onto the runway.
There are live streams of most major airports on liveatc, just Google it.
during flight, you'll have to look for flights with wifi onboard. Theyre overpriced though so it's better to select the few who offer free wifi instead.
Love it!
The dialogue is another language so cool 😎 extremely intelligent to listen to.
That last one cracked me up for some reason
Friggin New York controllers, hilarious… I love how they mix humor in with direction and clearance
I wish I could hear this convo from my jump seat 😂
Legend has it Emirates 205 Super is still trying to respond.
The man, the legend. Kennedy Steve!
I miss Kennedy Steve.
These pilots makin me nervous to fly again 😂
Sounds like Howard Stern! Hilarious but gets it done.
O'boy,,, how can you be so fast & slick, I guess some people are blessed, & they want to automate everything, they will kill the fun.
This is priceless 🤣🤣🤣
3:40 "If you're nodding your head, I can't see it, sir."
I laughed too loud at this one.
Omg, Steve is SAVAGE! :)))
"Taxi to the ramp and remain radio silence" lol
Benefits of being ATC at one of the busiest airports in the country
Came here to enjoy the sharp wit. Well, the recording is funny.
"you're nodding your head, i can't see you"😂😂😂 epic
Tower: uuh, how's Miami?
Pilot: Hehe
This happened to me with Qatar, runway wasn't clear and he was asking which taxi lane you have parked. 😂
Reminds me of an SFO controller years ago. Traffic 11 O clock probably John McEnroe in a 152.
Love Kennedy Steve.
Please add a pause or a small audible signal to identify different clips.
The Aussie or Kiwi saying “I know” with the opposite tones of American English has provided an excellent example of these dialects might not be mutually intelligible.
Oh the sass at times is amazingly funny xD
He was the best ever.......
Yes you want us to follow Lan Chile all the way....
Oh i dont want you to follow him to South America but all they way to the runway, yes please , follow him :D :D :D :D
Follow the rich people...love it. Sarcasm at its finest/
Kennedy Steve reminds me of Cave Johnson from Portal 2!
