Might not be the fastest, but definitively one of the most enjoyable to watch and hear. You can sense the emotion in both Misha and the owner. Amazing!!
you can actually push 350-400 hp on stock internals with these k20s but at that point it becomes very stressful for the engine, and you might blow a gasket. for the performance and upgrading capabilities they offer, as well as being compact enough to fit in basically anything, its a little monster of an engine. can even get upwards of 1000 with a ridiculous enough turbo setup and some internal upgrades.
@yimpyoi9808 You also lose the NA. NA on FWD is so much nicer in track. You can get 260hp per tonne easily on a pre 2000 civic. That's alot more than an M2. But then because an M2 us 60% heavier, a Civic will brake better, turn in better, in many corners rotate better etc
A gutted 90's Civic or Integra with a B series VTEC or K series and a well sorted suspension and brakes is such a raw driving experience that is quite unique and sublime.

If I had one car to run on the ring for like a year, a K20 track-spec 90s Civic would be hard to pass up on, it's such a raw experience and it brings such a joy
For sure, any B/K series setup is just a pure magical sensation that new modern technology just cant give you. I think a small supercharger running 5-7lbs of boost would make it even better, just upgrade the radiator so over heating wouldn't be an issue.

It was a valid question since the stock trans is only 5 haha, but most manual gearboxes mated to K20's from the factory are 6. Although even with 5 gears it probably wouldn't be topped out at that point unless the ratios and/or final drive were altered. But ya never know. Regardless, this is one badass machine and some inspirational driving by Mischa. I hope he really does build a NurburgKing Honda of his own.

It's impressive how the raw, racey nature of the K20 (coupled with the lack of revcounter function), completely changes the driving technique Misha usually applies. Goes to show just how "Motorsport immersive" Honda engineering actually is. Makes a smooth, fast circuit-style driver, adapt his style almost as if on a Rally Special Stage. Fascinating.
I have watched nearly all of your videos high performance high powered sports cars, but this lap has got to be my favorite. I have supercharged B18C Del Sol(Honda guy) AND the fact you pushed this K20 to its limits. I am sure it was a fun lap for you!
You should unplug the tachometer whenever you drive a honda! Loved the limiter bouncing, no more early shifting :P Can't believe you ended up catching the m2!
@@aniki937 Hondas have the biggest following in the US, in the US you can see a lot of hondas on the track, in GridLife, wheel to wheel racing, drag events, even the NSX GT3 is beating the european GT3 cars in the US, in europe it's not even used at all. They also make the engines for many racing series. Honda is huge in motorsport in the US, in Europe Honda is not very present at all and people laugh at it much more than in the US. But i have to say here in Europe, Hondas are not as much sold as in the US where they sell most of their cars by far.
The fact this raw experience gets translated well to video is amazing, plus seeing how this car makes time under braking challenges is phenomenal. What a sound too. Chef’s kiss indeed 👌

In South Africa Mercedes Benz built a EG 180e Honda ballade(4dr Civic) b18 from integra. And they built a EG AMG and EK AMG vtec with B16, my aunt had a 180e fun and quick car

id say, for the money a good k20 build costs you get quite a quick and first and foremost, fun car to drive.
As they say, “its always great to drive a ‘slow’car fast than a fast car slow”

I agree. My dc5 had a crazy gear ratio and 8k+ redline and it was so much fun. Honestly just as much fun to drive as my c6 corvette.

Its difficult to set them up correctly. Also need chassis stiffening.
They do not handle well on the track just by throwing on some coilovers.

Even the standard ek4 SIR and Type R absolutely flew and handled like on rails. Amazing performance for the 1990's
Brings back many memories of the late 90s, early 2000s. Those were great times with Hondas, when things were much cheaper and simpler to enjoy.

Es espectacular como puedes notar en la mirada de un hombre cuando va a ir a por todas así se juegue el tipo... ese momento se aprecia perfectamente cuando el M2 le pasa en la recta. Ahí la actitud de Misha cambia y sabe que en la zona de curvas va a ir con todo lo que tiene.
