    Thanks a lot for the review, very very well laid out and very good accurate information! After watching many reviews, this one definitely made me choose the right Speaker for me, I decided to go with the Party-Box OTG. Even though it has a short battery life, we would mainly use it at home plugged in (capitalizing on that whopping 100W RMS Sweet JBL Pro Sound), short unplugged sessions while camping, and the Mic Karaoke feature is awesome for my 10yr old daughter who believes she is the next Taylor Swift....lol

I decided to do just a little more homework and found this video. I don't really have any intentions for taking the speakers with me anywhere, so carrying it and the battery-life will not be an issue for me. It will mainly be sitting on my shelf at home. I was torn between charge 5 and xtreme 3, I went with the charge 5, as its portability os great. Fits in bottle carriers on backpacks, in the van and cars cup / bottle holders, and all round sounds great for its size. Also the battery life is amazing.
    However, I can’t help but feel I still want an xtreme 3, as the extra stereo separation and bass would be welcome when I am able to carry a bit of a larger speaker around.

    • @MoeAly77
      @MoeAly77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      same situation

    • @Steve-ob2zg
      @Steve-ob2zg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@MoeAly77 I’ve just actually bought and xtreme3 as well now, and first impression I was disappointed. It’s huge compared to the charge 5, and at 50% volume is quieter than the charge, in fact the charge outperforms it in sheer max volume. The charge 5 weirdly is also louder at the same volume steps, which can be slightly annoying if listening to music to sleep like I sometimes do, as it simply will not go quite enough when close by.
      For the size of the xtreme, rather than being punchy and the bass getting louder, I’d say over about 60-70% the bass fall of completely, the speaker is also extremely bright sounding, wheras the charge has a nicer warm sound to it. Its led me to reduce high frequency on the eq of the xtreme since the highs can be so ear piercing at louder volumes and is overpowering on some edm and other genres.
      You can charge the xtreme via a regular 5v USB lead, I’ve no idea how much longer it will take, but it can be topped up when out and about via a usb bank or car. This is something no one covered online, and not being able to charge by regular usb was a negative for me, so at least it has this option.
      Volume wise, I notice no difference when plugged in or on battery - again something else everyone says for full power it needs to be plugged in, but, it must be very slight, I did find a link on digging that said it may lose 5% rms output on battery vs mains.
      I listened extensively to many genres last night, edm, synthwave, accoustic, jazz, movie soundtracks / hans zimmer, lofi and more. Here are the good and bad:
      - charge 5 is louder than xtreme 3 (probably somewhat due to mid range extension)
      - charge 5 has a warmer overall sound that is very pleasant
      - charge 5 is way more portable, it fits in bottle holders in my van and mesh bottle holders on my backpack and has been superb when out and about and cycling
      - charge 5 has superb battery life, Imve blasted it full blast outside for several hours and returned home with 70% battery, so longer than the xtreme
      - charge 5 has superb bass response in such a small package, and in some genres sounds almost identical to xtreme 3 (ie synthwave and a lot of pop or metal. you will hear no extra base since the charge 5 does so well at mid-bass anyway)
      - charge 5 charges quicker from standard usb with no need for a bulky charger
      - xtreme 3 has more low end extension, so in some tracks where the bass borderlines sub bass frequencies, you can here those frequencies more pronounced on the xtreme 3, but it is not going to be bass you can feel or rock the room whatsoever, on a tone test below 50hz in true sub bass, there was next to no sound
      - xtreme 3 is bulky, its not possible to pick it up easily in one hand, or easily transport it between rooms, and it would take up far too much room in a backpack if out for the day, I’ve already nearly dropped it once when carrying multiple thing due to its bulk - i guess thats why they give you a shoulder strap
      - xtreme 3 has stereo sound, and fantastic clarity. While it is too bright at high volumes, listening to tracks at moderate volume is superb, it offers a near hi-fi listening experience in terms of separation, timing and reproduction
      - xtreme 3 has a 3.5mm jack, so could be used if you were staying away from home to connect into legacy devices like a tv to improve sound if it didn’t have bluetooth
      Overall the charge 5 is such a good package and always wows me with the sound it puts out for its size. Whereas the xtreme 3 underwhelmes me for its size. The only real reason I am considering the xtreme 3 is due to stereo sound where on some tracks, it gives that almost hi-fi listening experience at low to moderate volumes.
      If I keep it, I see xtreme 3 as a sort of ‘base camp’ speaker, so if we are away in an air bnb or another house for a holiday a d wanted stereo ho-fi like sound, and the charge 5 as my portable buddy to go outside at the hot tub, pool, or out and about in the van, on the bikes etc, since you simply can’t beat the package of the charge 5.
      Hope this helps in someway, but I’d say unless you are getting both, the charge 5 is the better overall package.
      Worth pointing out I have the charge 5 TML edition with the newer bass driver.

    • @Steve-ob2zg
      @Steve-ob2zg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh and partmode is pants, I had grand images of linking the charge 5 one side of a room and the xtreme the other, but it sometimes lags like crazy, and if you disable a speaker sticks in partymode and you cannot remove it, meaning you need to turn off both speakers and re-launch the app. But the biggest thing is the sound - its terrible, as it will not allow you to eq the speakers and makes them both flat in party mode. This means you get all flaws from both speakers combined, as it removed the eq’d bass on the charge, removed eq’d bass on the xtreme, and adds the harsh brightness of the xtreme back in, and you have just a loud, harsh, midrange frequency tinny, imbalanced sound. It actually sounds far better from just letting either speaker play itself and do its own thing.

      Aye keep in mind that what we hear through the video isn’t even close to accurate because not only would you have to hear the speaker in person to truly know the sounds the speaker produces but also TH-cam likes to compress the audio files on every video which is extremely annoying.
