First I want to say ´thanks´ for your clear and good pronuncatiion in this video! I´m from Germany and could understand every word from you very easy. I own both speakers, OTG and Encore (two pieces of them), for listening both in stereo and I use them since 3 months for fun and also for my job as a musician (live and studio). My experience is nearly the same what your conclusion was at the end of your video: The Encore has for sure more bass, but the OTG sounds a little bit more "natural". That means for me: The Encore I use more for electronic sounding music while the OTG for me is much better for natural instruments like piano, strings and real drums! The problem for me is: I cannot find anybody in YT until now who tests speakers like this with natural instruments, only when you hear (real) voices in electronic music you can hear more differences. For example in the last song in your video where you compared both speakers you can hear that the voices with OTG has more breath in it! Also it sounds more wide for me, because the mid-range frequences are better in the OTG. Anyway, after I listened some pop songs for about half an hour with my two Encores my ears were hurting a little bit ´cause of the strong high frequencies! It means, from now I have to put the high frequencies (over 12 kHz) down with an equalizer to feel more comfortable with the Encores!
Hi Willington, great comparison as always! Both speaker sounds great! The bass on the encore goes deeper, but the OTG has a wider sound stage and a bit clearer.. For the sound sample, I think 'Follow me' is suites in showcasing the highs, 'Toss the salt' in the mid range vocals, and 'Do you want some more' for the bass response.. 😊
That is a one good speaker! The bass goes deeper on the Encore Essential! And please use the Flossy Carter's Bike Life song which I already said in the comments of your previous Encore Essential's video! That song is insane for testing a speaker's sub bass, lime how much deep can a speaker produce its bass! Waiting for it to hear on your next video!
i think jbl noticed they messeed it up with the jbl partybox o-t-go...so they decided to launch a partybox encore which is way better tuned ..the low bass alone and it is smaller.
I've always had the impression that the OTG could've had passive radiators on it's sides, instead of front facing ports, but if JBL were to think about doing an upgraded version or 2nd version of this, that could honestly help, like possibly upgrading it's water resistance and sound (tho it comes down to tuning it). The BB2's sound could've been what the OTG should have atleast sounded from it's looks,

The bass output on JBL speakers scales back when you get to 80%- 100% volume. So I wouldn't worry about the speaker blowing up or anything...lol. JBL has safeguards in place to protect these Partybox speakers from damage.
for majority of users battery life isn't an issue because these will stay plugged in and wont ever leave the house. most people dont buy speakers this big to travel with them, they get them to replace home stereo systems. think about it, how many people do you know that still have stereos that consist of a main unit and two speakers?.......
Well it could be due to the enclosure design the essential has a cube form factor in which has a small space inside where the bass could resonate thats why its boomy, while rhe OTG has a bigger enclosure that could disperse a significant amount of low freq....what i like about the OTG also is it has a guitar input ...i guess the essential does not
I like this speaker!. Maybe it will be a good replacement for studio 6. This speaker has 2.1 setup, which I think that the 5.25" speaker is a subwoofer, and I don't think it only throw pure low frequencies and bass, but it has a little bit of voice like mid-range voice coming out so the twitter will just have to support it with midhi frequencies so it wouldn't have a sound signature of a V on a 5 band Equalizer. Great Video!!. I hope you can try some songs of TheFatRat!, He has many good songs which you can use and all of it is copyright free!.
Hey DLX some sound reviews with raycon would be cool I’ve noticed they started making some Bluetooth speakers and they basically have a PARTYBOX now, I’d love to see that against some of the JBL PARTYBOX’s

I see why JBL doesn’t support this speaker. In time I’ll upgrade but this works for now.
I see this video is a couple years ago, so now they only sell the partybox on-the-go essential. I was wondering if you know if there is any difference between them? I thought the sound of your on-the-go sounded better than the encore, probably because of the box being bigger.
