Got Xtreme 3 5days ago its damn beast and i love it! Working in big workshop as a mechanic so its very loud but the Sound quality so nice that i still enjoy music with No problem. And its dust proof just amazing.
That final song at 90% volume highlighted the differences the best. The Xtreme 3 sounds really good and more clear and sparkly
The only bad side of xtreme 3 is that its treble will be fixed when there are more updates.

I love the sound quality of the Extreme 2 on softer songs that have a lot going on in the background, but I knew the Extreme 3 was going to blow it away on heavier songs before watching this, the Extreme 2's base starts to plateau at %50/%60 volume.

I think this is the best comparison of these two speakers on TH-cam. The xtreme 3 definitely sounds cleaner at higher volumes. Thanks for the video 👊🏽
If you don't own one and you are looking to buy, I would say go with xtreme3 but if you already have the xtreme2 doesn't worth the upgrade. Also, the xtreme3 it's slightly more expensive. I had my xtreme2 for three years and I am very happy with it, I will only replace if start failing. Good comparison, Cheers!
"slightly more expensive"? Xtreme 2 is for around $220 and Xtreme 3 is for around $320. For the price, Xtreme 2 is clear.

I've had my Xtreme 2 since release day and Im' happy with it. Yes the battery degraded yes the rings on the side started to fade but after nearly 3 years I'm happy with it and will continue to use it. Well worth my 300 euro's back in 2018
Hey man.. question: what if your battery degrades to the point where theres just 1hr of playtime, is the battery replacable?

Listening on a Sony Xperia 1 ii through a pair of AKG N60 Bluetooth headphones I could tell the Xtreme 3 was better however tweaking my Dolby Atmos settings I can get them both to sound the same but the Xtreme 3 is slightly louder and has Bluetooth 5.1 and in person you will here slightly more details in the music. I think both sound acceptable and the main difference is that the Xtreme 2 can be had for £150 UK at the moment where as the Xtreme 3 is £279 although have seen £233 on Amazon that's still a massive price difference and I don't personally think it's worth it.

My xtreme 2 was with me in finnish army 😁 it was just rolling inside tanks and apc's on different war excercised and i have owned in since release date 😍 the thing has withstandet about 500 sauna's, showers, baths, ice and snow, trips to the lake and jetski rides it can withstand anything! Im not gonna uograde to xtreme 3 untill 2 dies
The 3 sounds so good. I bought the 2 for over two weeks and can't find a good spot for it. Now this video made me want to return the 2 and buy the 3.
Just picked up extreme for only £150 in November 2021. £100 off from original price of £250. Yes I wish I could have went for the extreme 3 after watching this comparison however extreme 2 is better value for money for me. Its my first speaker. What do you think?
The JBL Extreme 3 has a stereo sound. Extreme 2 had a hollow sound.
Like everything it's subjective.
But i bought the xtreme 3 , 2 weeks ago. Wasn't impressed at all with the sound. It's very open and expansive ( which as mentioned it's subjective) some like this sound, others including myself do not.
So then luckily my neighbour has the Xtreme 2.
Compared the two side by side in the flesh.
With various music, classic, rock, pop and rap.
Straight away the 'my' ears preferred the 'warmer' sound of the Xtreme 2.
So i've just returned my xtreme 3 and will save €75 and grab a Xtreme 2.
For my ears the xtreme 2 sounds nicer.

Totally agree! The xtreme 2 sounds too “open” and “clear” for me, alomst “cheap”. So I guess I prefer a more muffled sound.
Extreme 3 have clarity in terms of vocals overall extreme 3 sounds very well
I don't know why but for me, but extreme 3 is quite disappointing, not what I expected from something with this price. With the software update, the sound does improve with more bass, but at a high volume, the bass is lacking. And I do hope it support hi-res audio
Were you in the open when you tried it?
I don’t think anyone should expect too much BASS from these little portable speakers. I did demo everything BestBuy had around this price and the JBL 3 was the clear winner. I’m sure you know if you want the real deal house thumping Bass you need bigger floor standing speakers hooked up to an amp and you ain’t getting that with 50w for a few hundred dollars lol.
don't know about a lot of other songs, but for electronic/hiphop it's this simple. Xtreme 2 has objectively got more bass, while the frequency response of the xtreme 3 in the bass range is more flat, allowing a deeper sub and clear crisp highs with those huge tweeters
Everyone says Xtreme 2 has great bass but it has pretty much none. People must not know what bass is.

Extreme 3 should be in South Africa because they have arrived in Namibia. Just check around in the local shops.
Yes they are in south africa johannesburg, I see them at game and incredible connection. I don't know about the price tho

But then both may lack BASS because lower and higher volumes both should contain lots of bass to match the treble.

The only difference seems to be a bit stronger bass on Xtreme 3 which is nice, the rest is the same. I love my 2 it's great, getting 3 in a couple of days.
Honestly the only thing extreme about the whole extreme line is the price!!! $350-$199 for a 40 watt speaker the extreme 2 and a 50 watt extreme 3. And the kicker is you don't even get that little bit unless it's plugged in.

I agree that the extreme 2 sounds a bit muffled at low volume. That's a non starter for me. I don't like muffled sound at all. However its much better playing louder
Precisely, I also hate muffled sound but the xtreme 3 at high volumes hurts my ears, to much tremble

WOW.....HOPING YOU OF ALL PEOPLE CAN HELP ME.... I have the charge 3 but it's not loud enough for me I'm using it on my electric bike and need something NOTICEABLY LOUDER THAN THE CHARGE 3 with atleast 6 hours on 80-90% volume that's not TOO MUCH bigger than the charge 3 (I know it will be bigger if I want louder sound and good battery life) just not bigger than the jbl xtreme...... ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.... and anything under 300 dollars.... thanks again!

How is the base on the xtreme 3 my old jbl charging port does not work and looking to buy a better one but I'm a fan of jbl
On the extreme 3 you can't take phone calls that's dumb especially for costing 350 dollars.I took mine out by the pool and it got a little wet and now when i turn it off it turns on automatically so it never turns off.
can you connect the charge4 to the xtrem 3? they sold one million charge 4 and that s one million charge 4 witch won t connect to the brand new xtrem 3... it s a scam, they should update juste like they did for the charge 3 to connect plus. And they keep selling both systems, there is no real reason bluetooth speakers shouldn't connect together... so buy xtrem 2 or 3 but get ready to buy a hole new set by the next upgrade... Jbl should react... i ll keep complaining until i can pair my 2 charge to my xtrem 3... what a waste... maybee next year it will be partyboost plus, and the app won t help you for anything at all.

All day long I’ve been looking at getting the extreme 3 to take to the beach, watching and reading reviews… But I couldn’t find anywhere if it would connect to my two JBL charge fours. Just found out about an hour ago the extreme two does connect but the extreme three does not. I agree… Total scam I’m so glad I figured it out, I’m going with the extreme two so I can run three JBL‘s at the same time

Even on my imac speakers, the 2 sounds dull and muted (treble). by compare. As to excess treble? The phone app can eq.
i dont know if the x3 has this feature but the x2 has a high frequency mode which is better for higher volumes
I heard x3 has low frequency boost feature but if you want your speaker to have a long life, best not use it.

Sony srs xb43 sucks, the mid-range is missing, unbalanced. The only good thing about it is its 5.* bluetooth.

The Sony xb43 does not suck I have it it has better midrange punch and it sounded better than when both the Extreme 2 and 3 I have them all it's louder than the two and almost as loud as the three and has the best sound quality it has nice base clear base just don't play as low as 2 or 3
I wish jbl moved to a classier look and let the portable speakers connect to their sound bars. They would run the game. Only Bose and Sonos do trust and they’re expensive

On the xtrreme JBL, how can I increase the volume without changing over next track? Because every time I press the volume up and down on the JBL for more sound, it changes over?

What version of JBL XTREME 3 you got? GG, ND, TL or other?
You are lucky you found someone (me) who knows what that means. They are different on the inside but the same on the outside, for those who don’t know. Also, the xtreme 2 only comes in PL and GG, and the xtreme 3 only comes in SE? and GG. Neither have a ND or PL variant.
