Yeah with the river/s flowing nice, soon as they warm a little the shad will be in there like crazy! Miss way back in the late 80's & all of most of the 90's I member having 100+ shad days on the American river & even having seeing 40lb+ striper chase the small shad I was reeling in.. Thanx Al
It's time and there are stripers from Rio Vista to Colusa. Sat and Sun I have been consulting electronics and spooning for stripers. Sat I had Jeff who never saw an arch on his hummingbird mega. After a few adjustments there were archs all over the screen and we were yanking in doubles left n right. Don't know how many stripers we caught but it was a lot and nice size ones. Sun had Gilbert n Jose and less fish but much bigger!
Unrelated question to current video👍seeking advice. I have a tracker pro guide v175 camera called combo, I want to put spot lock trolling motor on it, not the most expensive one but bottom of that, which one would be best to get?
It depends on what your using it for? If your trout n kokanee fishing look at the Minnkota Terrova style motor or I pilot motor. If your mostly bass fishing then I would go with the Ultrex style motor which has the cable steer style n all these have spot lock.
I've been bait fishing in the Sac river at Garcia Bend and been catching squawfish everytime I go on the slower incoming tide with sardines. If you use roe in the American or Feather river around down trees in the water you can catch easy. But by law you can't transport them. Catch and fish them that day.
I live in pocket around Garcia Bend. I been catching limits bait fishing last week until they dumped water and logs n debris was coming down. It looks good now and I know there are lots stripers in river. Sat n Sun I was at Brannon Island on SJ river side and killed the stripers spooning. There everywhere from Rio Vista to Colusa
Hello Alan, when trolling near Eddo’s, how long do you normally have between striper bites? I would like an estimate so that if I go too long and I get no bites then I know I’m doing something wrong.
I would say at the turn of the tide is the best time. I always watch my graph and you can see the stripers. Sat I was trolling and as I turned the boat and got in deeper water 30 ft I saw lots fish so I got out the spoons and jigged. We had doubles on many of times and good size stripers. We spooned so many stripers my client had sore arms lol.
Yes I was up in Liberty yesterday and there are some stripers there. The water is very good shape but the wind muddy the water up. It clears in one day if the wind dies down.
Alan my family is growing. I like bass fishing the delta on my bass boat but its not big enough for my family. Is it possible to fish the delta with a pontoon boat using spot lock?
Yes you can but it hard to control a pontoon boat for bass fishing. But you could put it on spot lock and make some casts lol If your taking kids probably better to go anchor in river and bait fish for stripers. Anything possible just lots work.

How do you catch squawfish for the striper fishing? I can't seem to find any videos and I've had no luck trying

@@AlanFong thanks! I'm out of yuba city so I either fish the feather down to Nicholas or Tisdale/colusa area on the sac.
Feather river is full of squawfish. Anchor up above a big down tree in water and toss some roe on a small hook you'll catch all the SF you want.
If you lived in Sacramento, would you recommend going to Garcia or down to the Delta for striper fishing?
I live in pocket around Garcia Bend. I been catching limits bait fishing last week until they dumped water and logs n debris was coming down. The big bass are munching on the squaw running with the shad. Throw a whole squaw 15-18” on and see what eats it !
Yea your right! The shad are only about 8-10" and are perfect size for that big striper. I'm sure its still legal but check out the DFW regs.

Thanks for the report Alan. Have you had a chance to make it up to Liberty lately? Just curious on the conditions.
Yes I was up in Liberty yesterday and there are some stripers there. The water is very good shape but the wind muddy the water up. It clears in one day if the wind dies down.
Headed to Rio Vista tomorrow. Are you saying Edles on the San Joaquin? Sorry, bad hearing.
Eddos
Yes
Yes from Three Mile to Eddo's been good. If the wind lets down go out to the west bank
Where are the halibuts in SF Bay around this time? I normally catch them at Berkeley Flats
Most are being caught in south bay.
How come we're not seeing any hyacinth with the exception of old dead stuff from last year? I'm dying to go punch some bass!!!
Water to cold but it will be growing here pretty soon, and as it gets warmer it will start going like crazy.
